Transcript

The game is over. Paul George money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just begun. Kawhi Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers Locker Room, a recap of today's game and a look ahead on your hope for LA Clippers basketball. And now your host, you, sir, are a bad man. Adam Ausley. New look Clippers get the victory one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors in downtown

Los Angeles. Welcome into your post game show. Coming up. We got second half highlights you'll hear from the players and coach lou But first let's get back out to your voice of the Clippers, Noah Eagle, No before we get to the new guys, and they're big performances in this one. Nothing

new from Kawhi Leonard, but still very impressive. Thirty three points twelve of seventeen, shooting seven of nine from three, tying hiss career high with seven made threes and a plus fourteen is really what stands out amongst all of that. So, yeah, he put up the numbers, but he was impactful in doing so, and his defense was still at an elite level. Whenever he wanted to lock someone down, he did. But that's that's what they

need. If the Clippers are going to reach their peak, it's because Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are going to do the same right alongside of them. And sure the new additions they look great, but at the end of the day, this is going to go as far as they'll allow it to go. Yeah, no down Mason Plumly though, in seventeen minutes, and he had a huge third quarter, but eight points, five boards, three assists, was pushing the pace, was getting them out and running. You talk

with him post game, but not a bad debut. Yeah, I really liked what I saw out of him on both ends. He had that one defensive stand. Moses Moody, who is athletic as they come, and tried to cock it back and throw it down on him and instead Plumbly straight up got the stop at the rim, force the turnover. And that's him in

a nutshell. So yeah, that's not necessarily what he's known for, but he's he's a high IQ player, and I think that's why this team wanted him, and that's why they they're welcoming him with open arms is because when you have the one two punch of a Vizza Zubats who has just gotten better and better and better each year in the NBA, and now Mason Plumley coming off the bench, someone who can rip the rebound down and to your point, start the fast break himself, dribble out of traffic, get it towards

mid court, then it advanced past or maybe even dribble it all the way into the pain kick it out. He's a playmaker. He's a defensive guy. He can do a little bit of everything, but he's not someone who requires the basketball to be effective. That's important on a team where you've got so many guys that need the ball in their hands. So we saw a couple of follows. We saw a couple of screens that he said, we

call it a couple of dribble handoffs. You know. It was a lot of what he learned in Denver from Nicola Yokich, and I think we've seen it now rubbing off on him the last few years. Good to see Norman Powell fit in with the new guys twenty four points off the bench. I believe most people have him as the leader in the clubhouse now for six Minute of the Year voting. Oh is that true? I think so? Okay, I mean, listen, man, I'm just trying to start the campaign,

That's all I'm saying. I'm not talking about Cameron Payne. I'm talking about a real campaign here. I think that Norm deserves a lot more love than he's gotten this year. He's flown under the radar in my opinion, because he had a slug of start to the season, so then people didn't start talking about him in the beginning of the year, and the Clippers record maybe isn't where people expect it to be, although at thirty two and twenty

eight they're right in the thick of it in the Western Conference. As long as they take care of their business, especially after All Star Break, they're gonna put themselves in a very good position come post season time, and when the playoffs roll around, they're gonna have good momentum. Norman pal is gonna be as big of a reason as anybody on this team. Ford as mentioned

it before the game. He's won them multiple games this year with his ability to come off the bench and play at one speed that is right downhill, right into your face fast as you know what getting to the rim, getting to the line, hitting threes. He was great from downtown again at a three to five from three point territories. So when you get twenty four points and twenty five minutes from someone coming off your bench, and he's not your

only impressive score off the bench. You can add at Bones Highland, you can add an Eric Gordon to that group. It just makes it so dangerous. That second unit looked really really impressive tonight with forty nine points and overall the Clippers ball moving on offense. I mean, thirty three sist on forty nine makes. It was pristine out there were they were getting great looks and not turning the basketball over. Yeah. What I loved is how they got

those looks drive kick swing. We saw it in full force today. I think this was the best example all season of the Clippers getting into the paint and then playing off with their shooters on the outside. And even with Mason Plumley in there or of Vitsa Zubots, you still have so much shooting surrounding them. When you think about it, Man has really continued his rise from three this season. Paul George obviously an outstanding shooter. Marcus Morris a great

shooter. Kawhi Leonard just went seven of nine from three today. Bones Highland is an excellent shooter. Norman Powell has been lights out. Eric Gordon's an excellent shooter. And while Patu went over for three today and only played in eight minutes of action, he is a really a sniper when he's open. We've seen it, so every other player on the floor is going to shoot

it at a ridiculously high clip. With those guys, you can utilize that to your advantage, and for whatever reason, they haven't unlocked it until this point. But I think Highland did a really good job of special getting into the paint and then finding the right person to spark that essentially spark the rest

of the ball movement. So he might not have been credited with a ton of assists, only two of them, but the hockey assists for him were crucial for the Clippers to rack up thirty three of them on the night. I like what you said about him dipping the shoulder down and finding those tough angles to create those shots. Eventually through the hockey assists there, Bones Thailand was six points in his debut for the Clippers. Clippers win one thirty four

to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors. Next ball game coming up in Phoenix on Thursday. Tip time is at seven pregame shows starting at six. Now, Kevin Durant for the Suns. But hey, they got a victory tonight over Sacramento without Good They're good even without him, Adam, they got as much talent as anybody in the league at this point, especially with

Kevin Durant coming in, and so it's never an easy out. We know that the Clippers are very familiar with them, and you also know I can't wait. Coming up next, we got second half highlights from Noah Eagles, the Clippers win by ten over the Golden State Warriors, and you're listening to the Los Angeles Clippers Radio net play. Clippers won one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors, and down sound Los Angeles. Welcome

back into your post game show. I'm Adam Oslin, coming up on a five seventy LA Sports. We'll have Clippers talk for you. Eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's get second half action here second half highlights for the Clippers. They were now by fourth a half. It was sixty five sixty one Golden State. Kawhi Leonard. He had thirteen points total in the first

half. He would match that in the third quarter alone. A minute into this second half, here Leonard step into a right wing three cash. Oh why Leonard making it rain four to three of the night for the Claw, who's got sixteen on the right wing. Man chest pass left side for Leonard office screen. I'll try another creek Kawhi. Leonard is feeling it. He connects it is the game at sixty nine. A nice looking stroke. Leonard comes away with it. What a play by the Claw. Left to right

Leonard working on Green dancing back and forward step back right wing three. Oh, Kawhi. Leonard is feeling it tonight, smoking hot from downtown. Leonard making it rain in a major way. Kawhi with thirteen points in that third quarter. Clippers led by twelve heading into the final period. In those final twelve minutes, it started with Norman Palkin, I'm going working on Thompson chap step thought about the jumper, gets rid of it for Pale pal driving middle

into the Pike gets to the room and look out. Norman Powell takes flight for the right handed stuff one oh seven ninety three Pal was sixteen Clippers by fourteen long rebound of Gordon up ahead. It goes to Pale and the right wing. He'll try at three and he cans in Norman Pow at nineteen and the onslaught continues. Clippers one ten Warriors ninety three. Lobbitt for Leonard on the right wing just inside the arkansa right back to Gordon, driving right ticket,

left wings swing, it's far side corner. It's Powell for three. It's good. How about the ball movement from the Clippers that is drive kicks swing to a t and it started with a penetration from Gordon. Norman Powell with ten of his twenty four points on the fourth quarter. But Golden State wasn't going away, so Kawhi Leonard elected to put the finishing touches on this one. Tend to shoot Leonard off the screen to his right. Leonard with a switch on Pool six to shoot fires a right wing. Three. He's

got it. Kawi Leonard his seven three of the night one twenty eight one fourteen three h five to go shout out pitfall that would tie a career high for Kawhi Leonard in a regular season game from the outside, as he finished seven or nine from three he had thirty three. Clippers win one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors. Coming up next will preview

Clippers next game coming up on Thursday in Phoenix against the Suns. So where are the Clippers sitting the standings right now? They're in fifth place. There are a half game back of the Suns, who beat the Kings tonight. Sons of one five of six. They've yet to get Kevin

Durant on the court. He won't be playing on Thursday either. It will be post All Star Break for him when he finally returns from a right mcl sprain. I believe it was but Phoenix in that fourth spot, half game up on the Clipper Sacramento game, and a half up in the three seed, and that's the important spot to get to. I think you get the three seed and you could avoid it. Looks like Phoenix or Denver in the first two rounds of the playoffs. That would be huge for the squad.

But tip time Thursday night in Phoenix, seven pm Live Clippers Countdown starting for you at six. Outside of Los Angeles, we are leaving you until then. Coming to Max on five seventy LA Sports. Here's Adam as new look Clippers helped them get back to their old winning ways as they got to Dub against the Dubs. They win one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors

in downtown Los Angeles. Welcome in a Clippers Talk. I'm outam oslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number, or gets me at follow Adam a looking for postgame audio from coach Lou and the players. Will also have William Mupdyke from Clips and Dip tonight on the show. But that's what we were hoping to see. The Cavalry arrived and they helped lead the Clippers to a

victory. I thought very good debuts all around from not just Mason Plumley, who we expected to fit in seamlessly with this team, and he certainly did with in that third quarter where he played some great defense, but also pushed the pace on offense. Finished with eight points, five boards, and three assists for them. But Bones Highlands, he Bones Highland showed flashes of being able to run that second unit. He looked very comfortable moving the basketball.

Three assists to one turnover, you know what, make it two assists to zero turnovers, but had six points. His first made shot as a Clipper was from distance, but he was getting into the paint and the Clippers over and over again. We're getting back to their principles and their philosophy of drive, kick swing, and that's what led them to thirty three assists on forty nine made shots. That's big for this squad. They went seventeen of thirty

six from the outside after a poor shooting night against the Milwaukee Bucks. They shoot almost fifty percent from three. Of course, it helps from Kawhi Leonard returns and goes seven of nine from distance, tying a regular season career high with seven made three pointers. He finished with thirty three points and really put this ball game away with that seven made three to put the Clippers up. I want to say sixteen late in that fourth quarter, as Golden State was

trying to hang around had it to within ten multiple times. Norman Powell continues to flourish on this team, twenty four points in twenty five minutes, ten of seventeen shooting playing with the new guys. Was out there with Gordon and Bones Highland at times three or five from distance. I want to say, had ten of his twenty four in the fourth quarter, had the first five

points of the period for the Clippers there to get them started offensively. Defense, yeah, they got areas they can improve in, especially in that first half where they gave up sixty five points and trailed by four. But I tweeted it out at follow Adam Ay on Twitter, I said, I want to see the Clippers come out and have their best third quarter of the season. And when's you know? They put up their highest scoring quarter of the year with forty four points in the third. They won it by sixteen,

holding Golden State to twenty eight. And it was just an offensive onslot from first Kawhi Leonard and it was Terrence Mann out there who I think had seven of his sixteen points early in the third. But Kawai, after having thirteen in the first half, he had thirteen in the third quarter alone, and really asserted himself was aggressive and his running mate and Paul George. While he took only twelve shots PT thirteen point guard p eight assists to two turnovers,

so he did a great job of running the show. I'm not gonna follow him for only taking twelve shots when the Clippers were moving the basketball as they were tonight, and he was leading them in that area and only had two turnovers. And that has been a story for this team for some time now.

They finished with just eight turnovers over their last fifteen games. Coming into this one, they were averaging just eleven point seven turnovers per ball game, and at one point in this one, I think it was Andrew Greif who had the tweet. Clippers had three turn in ours for the first forty one minutes and then had two within twenty six seconds, and there was a bad one by Paul George. But overall, that's championship basketball, not turning it

over, and the Clippers have turned a corner in that area. They've looked much better, much more focused, locked in with a sense of urgency. But it really started in that third quarter, especially a good start to this one in the first quarter, but down by four at the half, to get things right with Kawhi Leonard being that hot from distance in the third and guy's getting behind him, and Marcus Morris knocked down a couple from three.

I mentioned Terrence Man, he hit two three pointers in this ball game, Norm Powell three. But the second unit and Mason Plumbly out there playing with Kawhi Leonard and Plumbly pushing the pace and getting them easier looks, getting them into their offense quickly. When he pulled down rebounds, he was dribbling it into the front court, a rare straight from a center, let alone a backup center. I told you may have the best backup center in the league.

Now. This guy was average in sixteen and eleven per game in January with four assists. He finished with three in his first game as a Clipper, plus eight points. He had six and I want to say two boards or three of those boards. Yeah, three of his five boards in the third quarter alone. Really impactful. There stood up Moody on a dunk who was going down and trying to throw it one of the dunk of the Year candidates on Mason plum Ly rule of verticality, faced him straight up. I

thought played really good basketball just fit in seamlessly. But bones Hiland also looked for him early on for an oop as soon as he entered the ball game. Both those guys were there in the first quarter. So with twenty three games remaining, now it's twenty two, Clippers weren't easing these new players into it. They were playing big minutes in big spots. Early on, Bones

looked for plum Lely in this sea half a connection. He tried to lob it to him eventually in the second half as well, and ended with a foul on Mason Plumley and the left handed free throws. But outside of those fouls where Bones did have five of them and the fifth one was tough Kaminga, I thought he defended him about as well as he could. And there's almost something to say for a guy picking up five fouls where he was playing

hard defensively. He can't pick up a foul if you're not near a defender. You got to be a little bit smarter on that end. We know that's not one of his strengths, to say the least, but if he can hang in there and prove in that area with his abilities to get to the basket, his first bucket as a Clipper was a three pointer off a great hustle play from Nicholas Batum, who missed some open looks from the outside and only played eight minutes after not playing against Milwaukee, was oh three from

distance. But in that first half he had I think it was near the end of the first quarter where he had a steal off a Clipper's miss that eventually ended up into the hands of Bones Highland, who knocked down a three pointer. But then in the second half, Hyland, his second mate shot as a Clipper was just going to the basket and blowing by a defender and getting a little underhand scoop shot. This is something the Clippers sorely need.

That juice, that ability to hit the turbo button and get to the rim rim pressure is something they've been looking for, and Highland provides that in spades. He just plays at a different pace than anybody we've really seen this season with this Clippers team, especially in the half court, but look to be in control again. He didn't turn the basketball over, had a couple assists.

I thought he had at least one hockey assists in there too, because when you're getting into the basket and you're drawing two guys on you, there's an open player, and if if the Clippers can eventually find him by swinging the basketball around after that eventual kickout off the penetration get into the basket. They're in good shape offensively, putting up one hundred and thirty four points, shooting fifty three percent from the field forty seven percent from the outside. Forcing

the issue by playing physical, aggressive basketball and getting downhill. That's what this team has to do in Bones Highland. He's unafraid this guy. If he becomes third true, reliable backup point guard for this team, that is quite a development. Getting him for two second round picks from the Denver Nuggets, the top seed in the West. So all in all, I think the Clippers you pass their first test with this new look group. It was dicey

at times. They were going up against Warriors team that obviously didn't have Andrew Wiggins or Steph Curry, and they were down by four at a half. But I was very encouraged by the signs we saw in the second half because they got out by as many as eighteen and really close things out in the last four minutes. Both teams well Steve Kerr waived the white flag and both teams emptied their benches. Clippers win one thirty four to one twenty four over

Golden State. Lenny start things off here on Clippers stock Adam aw Smith. I'm about to say something so nice, I gotta say it twice. You ain't never gonna have to tell Eric Gordon to take ten shots a game. You ain't never ever like to worry about Eric Gordon taking ten shots a game. Luke, you got your flowers, Thank you, wish you are the best. We finally got a player that's gonna keep the defense on their keels. You got Kawhi doing his thing. You got PG getting some help on

the ball distribution, you got Norm Power on Adam automatic. And now you bringing Eric Gordon, who can go for twenty at any given moment, okay, on any given Sunday. This dude is Michael Wave. You still got it. So Mason Plumley in the paint doing his thing. Look, the front office nailed it, man. They did the best. They did some of the best moves that they had need to do. What they ad ads off to him. Man, I think that you know, Kauai. My

only thing now is going to the playoffs. I still think that we stick. We're gonna need a vocal leader, man, because these these guys. I still think Phoenix is favored just because of just the sheer talent they got. They got you come off almost four. They're starting four all stars, but they don't. They don't. Nobody has a definitely got So with that death and Tyler doing his Queen's gambit, yeah, it's gonna be interesting.

Letty I appreciate the phone call. Yeah, this revamped, reloaded Clippers team and especially Eric Gordon looked good. He was just two for seven, but he had a scoop lay up to start things off, hit a three in the second half. And he can shoot from distance. No Steph Curry out there, but he has some of that Steph Curry range. He shoots the basketball from deep. Had an interesting comment about that in his press conference yesterday

is introductory press conference. He bones Highland made some plumbly after practice or before, I'm not sure which, but he said, you know those deep shots, Well, a lot of people talk about how far you are from the basket. Guys also aren't guarding you, and you're getting better looks. So he likes to take those deep three pointers, which also helps floor spacing out there. But he gets to the basket. He can be a bully at times with his size for his position, and he can defend and guard up

on the other end. He had I want to say, both of his steals, or he at least generated a couple of steals in that fourth quarter key plays. I like what I saw from Eric Gordon, not surprised. Thought he fit in very well with this team too. People thought maybe there's too much similarity between him and Norman Powell. I saw a lot of Clipper nations saying I'm not sure about the fit, but I think you'd take two Norman Powell's if you can get him and Eric Gordon a little bit bigger on

the defensive end, can guard more guys, all right. When while we have a moment before we break here, oh, actually, you know what, we got Zachocaldy in the house. I'll take care of it during the

break. Something they pulled back the curtain anymore than that. Clippers win one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors in downtown Los Angeles eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six, nine, eight, seven, two, five seventy react to these new look Clippers, three players playing pivotal minutes to night already for this team, which is twenty

two games remaining. It's exciting going into this one and almost felt a little bit like Opening to Night, just because you know Clippers got a few new toys or gifts that they'd have an opportunity to throw out there. And you get to see in a Clippers uniform for the first time. Eric Gordon's been in one before, but Bones Thailand Mason Plumley really acquitted themselves well. So there's win by ten of our Golden State. Next game coming up Thursday night

against the Phoenix Suns. More Clipper stalk. Next, you're a five seventy light sports Leonard driving down the right ally get to the rim. Oh Kawhi Leonard. The springboard slam, he got upstairs in a hurry. Thirteen and the third for the Claude's got twenty six overall Clippers lead eighty nine. Kawhi Leonard finished with a game high thirty three. I'm twelve of seventeen, shooting seven of nine from three seven or nine deep space nine seven of who's that

character? Okay, but he hit seven threes and that tied a career high mark in the regular season for Kawhi Leonard, plus that four assists before that dunk, I want to say the possession right before it, he had a great no look pass to Terrence Man who threw it down. He finished with sixteen. Clippers would win one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors, while the Clippers reloaded with three new players who all played their

roles really well. And I'm most impressed because you know, you see guys come into new situations and sometimes they can be tentative. They was the old tweet from Lebron James about Kevin Love fit in, fit out. Sometimes you

can do too much or do too little. And I thought they were all balanced by being who they've been, especially the veterans in Eric Gordon Mason plumbly been in this league over ten years each of them, but then also fitting in with this team into the flow of the offense and keeping the ball hoping. Eric Gordon had a nice pass down low to a Visa Zubots, who I think put him up sixteen with an easy one late, and then both

teams would clear their benches. But you see the potential of Bones Highland and what he can bring, the energy, the excitement that he plays with and getting other guys going. I think that's much needed with this Clippers team. Let's go to Howie the eighte eight. Howie, you're on Clipper stock with Adam Oslin. Howie, what's up? Oh Adam Man? And I'm trying to catch my breath. That was so exciting. Oh my god, we have a legitimate contender now, I mean we just beat did we just beat

the defending champ? I mean those Warriors, Howie. Let's Howie. We gotta be honest about this. They didn't have Steph Currier Andrew Wiggins come and they were on a back to back Howie. I'm not trying to reign on your parade, but it's not. This wasn't the team that won the championship last year. Okay, Well that Jordan pool Man, that guy's a baller. And what about that blocked by Plumbly? Who was it who was trying to make that dunk and then Plumbly blocked it. That's that big, huge

dunk Moody and Plumbly stood him straight up. Yeah, that was Oh my god, that was unbelievable. I mean to see that lie the holy cal I'm so happy that we got plumbly what a difference and uh oh Kawhi. Leonard was completely dialed in. I think that was probably the best game of the year. I don't know, but he was so dialed in. I mean it was a great game. I mean it was really well, we really have a contender now, I mean we can go with this team, all right, all I want to say, yeah, I'm with you,

Howie. I love the pieces they brought in, the players they brought in, credit Lawrence Frank and the front office. I just love how seamless a few of these guys were tonight. I think all three of them played their roles outside of the Clippers and having some defensive lapses and not being good enough on that end at times. They look great offensively with the ball movie thirty

three assists on forty nine made shots. And what I mean by the new guys fitting in the right way and playing their roles, they adhered to what the Clippers ask of them. Get to the painter die trying, Eric Gordon an Bones Highland did some of that. They created some havoc, they kicked

it out, or they got layups themselves. The Clippers need easier baskets, and they're able to do that when they run their offense to perfection, which at times tonight it was a thing of beauty to watch Morris in Long Beach. Lawris, what's up here on Clipper Stalk without him? Austin hey man, let me go on to say, Adam, let me go on to give a Valentine's your boy, Lawrence frank Man. Because I didn't think the team would get any deeper. I really didn't, and that's why I'm not

the general manager. They got. The Clippers is now eleven deep. Now, just to show you that I'm not exaggerating, count the first five guys, and I guarantee you that there's another five guys that's gonna be playing when you get into the playoffs. You know Promili's gonna play, you don't coming off the bench. You know Power's gonna play, you know Patoon's gonna play, you know Gorger's gonna play, and you know Bones Highlands is gonna play.

They really got I don't give your boy frank a little shout out Valentine's you did a good job man. I didn't think they can get deeper, but they did. Allen just did they gonna let you go? Thank you very much, Thank you Morris. I appreciate the phone call. Yeah, shout out Laurd's Frank can't say enough getting Bones Highland for those two second round picks, which is shocking to me considering he's coming over from a competitor in

the Western Conference that's at the top of the league. And I know he wasn't in the rotation and that makes sense, but giving them up to the Clippers. I'm very interested to see how his career progresses and to see how they use him the rest of the season. There were some interesting quotes coming out post game from coach Lou regarding some of the new guys and some of

the lineups, and this came from Andrew Greiff of The La Times. Coach Lou said, basically, if a three guard lineups with Norm Bones Gordon are scoring at a high clip, he's gonna roll with it. He's hopeful for their defensive potential together, but said it's an evaluation period and he wanted to test out that trio tonight. And while usually coach Lou, we'll take ten games sample sizes, he admitted pre game. With only twenty two games left

in the regular season, now, I can't really do that. We're going off of how guys look over the span of a week and a half now, and obviously there's just one more game before the All Star break, so the Clippers will have twenty one games to play after Thursday night when they're in Phoenix taken on the Suns. It's just unbelievable the way this season has gone by. But nobody's played more games so far than the Clippers, so a team that could use the time off as well, but they just got three

days off. Kawhi Leonard, by the way, if you watch that game, his last game he played in last Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks, stark difference between today and then because he just looked gassed. You could tell he didn't look right. So that day off he got Friday against Milwaukee proved to be effective and the right move once again. And people talk about the little management and Kawhi Leonard not playing back to backs, look at the results and

how he has looked coming off the right ACL tear. He's been so good since really the turn of the new year, he's looked like a different player, well back to where he was before the injury. You could at least say he had a two headed dunk in this one. But the seven threes. I told you at the beginning of the season. When he starts hitting three pointers again, you'll know he's feeling good, and he certainly has over

the last month and a half. But I've also asked, is it possible that he's gotten even better as a shooter, where in the second time of his career, now Kawhi Leonard comes back from a major injury and actually gets better than he was before, because the one thing you can do while you're out physically with a lower leg injury is get shots up from from distance. And Kawhi Leonard, now he has just been an unbelievable on an unbelievable run.

You could say he was runner up for Player of the Month in January Wild Card line Jeff in La Jeff here on Clipper's stop with Autamasa. What's up, yeah, Adam, Yeah, Jeff, Yeah, I just called in. They didn't even ask me for my name. It's a Rex from La. So what's up. How's it going? Yeah? So I just watched the game and I just wanted to comment on how deep this team looks.

I mean, oh my god, I didn't I want to stay humble, be humble, Kendrick again, But I mean, Eric Gordon looks like a let's just put it this way, maybe like a four man Norman Powell. And to have two or two players that can flash like that and shoot like that coming off the bench with Mason Pormley, who looks like you could dribble the ball and push the pace, I mean it's even dangerous because I mean they just got even deeper now. So I'm honestly my title hopes are

even stronger and let's go clip. Thanks for again, Adam. As we like to hear Rex after the trade deadline, you're feeling even better about this Clippers team. Yeah, there are similarities between him and Norm Powell. Instant offense. I think Eric Gordon can guard bigger guys than on the other end. Obviously he's proven it. He's been a lot of big moments too as

Norman Powell. That's twenty nineteen Toronto Raptors Round. But Eric Gordon with the Houston Rockets in twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen when they were going toe to toe with the Golden State Warriors when they had James Harden and CP three, So it was good to see him back out there in a Clippers uniform. I thought all three guys that they brought in were impactful tonight and had their fingerprints on this one as the Clippers win one thirty four to one twenty four over

the Golden State Warriors. Coming up next, we'll get to William Updyke from Clips and dipping back to your phone calls eight six six to nine eight seven two five seventy eight six sixty nine eight seven two five seventy as the phone number. I'm atam oslind and this is Clipper Stock here in the five seventy l a sports screen knew his right from zubox. Lennard hooks it zubos on

the short roll, drives metal spins on, Thompson missed it. Rebound man and he slams with the right a man's chair inside and Clippers leave five eighty one seventy six. Darren's man was sixteen points seven of ten shooting. Clippers win by ten one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors. Welcome back at the Clippers stock. I'm out of Moslin, still looking for postgame audio from the head coach and the players, but right now joined

by Will Updyke from clips in Dip. Well, thanks for doing this tonight. Something I haven't touched upon yet. He just looked at the offensive rebounds by the Clippers in this one. They had three offensive rebounds all of last game Friday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. I believe it was the three offensive rebounds in that one. They had three offensive rebounds in the first quarter in this ballgame, and Mason Plumbly and Bones Highland finished with five of their twelve

offensive rebounds. There was just a different energy out there with these new guys. Yeah, yeah, I couldn't agree more. It was, you know, Bond Thailand was a much needed sort of Joel to the stream of energy, and Mason Plumbly, oh my go. We talked about surprise performers of the game. You came all the way through with that one. I mean,

just looking at the Clippers deadline. I know a lot of people weren't super impressed, maybe, but just an upgrade going from no disrespect to Moses Brown or or you know, having another wing kind of fill in those minutes due when the actual like in the actual NBA center in Mason Plumley, is

just such an unbelievably huge upgrade. And I thought that we got to see a lot of his game tonight with the five rebounds, those three assists, it was just very clearly, it was just very clearly an upgrade and a much needed one at a position where they were a little short. Yeah, fans were looking for that backup traditional center all season long, a little more seasoned of a player in that position. Oh, they got one now.

I thought. I was really impressed with him pushing the pace after getting rebounds, bringing the ball into the front court at least once he found Norman Pale for an easy one, just because of the speed he was playing with and the Clippers they need some of that, they need to play at a higher

tempo out there. It was good to see it from him. Same with Bones Highland, though I wasn't sure how much he was going to play in his first game as a Clipper, but Coach Luke came out and said he was going to be the point guard coming off the bench in this one. I thought he looked really good as well. Yeah, absolutely, I mean him and Gordon both, I thought I had some moments of brilliance in there.

Although Gordon struggled to shoot from the floor, I mean Bones did as well, but you can both see that there is the ability there for them to sort of to set the table for them both also to make very aggressive drives into the paint and kick out from there, which is obviously always a

much needed skill for this Clippers team. Just somebody else who could kind of get get shots, easier shots for you know, the knockdown shooters that we have around, or even get Kawhi and Paul George in position where they don't have to initiate directly on as many section you mentioned Kawhi there. He finished with thirty three, but Ty's a career high was seven, made three pointers on seven of nine shooting, and you know, I think the extra rest

did him some good. There was a noticeable difference, of course, between him and the last game he played against the Dallas Mavericks last Wednesday and tonight. I just thought Kawhi letter look fresh out there, and especially in that third quarter when the Clippers were down by four at the half. It was Kawai who got them pointed in the right direction. Oh yeah, unreal. He had that absolutely savage dunk in the third. I gotta be honest,

I love I love the seven of nine shooting. Some of them weren't shots that I necessarily loved the take of, just in the terms of overall process, Like some of them were kind of early in a shot clock putting one up. But you know what, if you're on a heater, I'll definitely live with it. But no, it was absolutely phenomenal. He's on another level. He you know, even with the restructure of the team post the

trade deadline, he has not skipped a beat. Same thing with Norman Powell, who even it doesn't seem to have matter surrounding with whoever you want on the bench, the guy is good for twenty easy pushing thirty no sweat, and Norman Powell finished with twenty four on just seventeen shots, three three pointers. What I like about him is he seems to do his best work and

the stats and the eyeball tests confirm it. In the fourth quarter, where he's been shooting about fifty three percent from the field, he got them off to a quick start with a three pointer and a two. He had a big throwdown as well, you know, those energy plays. But in the fourth he's just playing his best basketball. And for a team that has struggled at times to close out, Norman has not been the problem in that area. No, not at all. And he's another one of those guys.

I mean you talked about the efficiency. I also just love the way he can, like he finds a seam and just dissects it immediately, like there's there's just no hesitation, and that ability to just get a quick bucket without really having to you know, without half to dribble, while without having to expend a lot of effort really for him is just incredible, and it's awesome to see him be able to sit in really regardless of who is around him.

It's one of those things that makes him just such a such an essential six man for this team. You know, normally I'd get on Paul George for only taking twelve shots, but in a game where they're implementing all these guys and they're moving the ball beautifully and he was at the vanguard of that, leading them with eight assists just two turnovers, I'm fine with it. That was playmaker Pete. That was him at times making really good decisions out

there. I know he had a bad turnover in the fourth quarter, I think it was. But outside of that, a solid playmaking ball game from Paul George. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, And I'm curious to see how things are going to kind of shake out. I mean, you know, with some of the comments that he's made about the point guard. You know, we have seen him, you know, sometimes maybe fade a little bit in the fourth or la during games, and I don't know if that's due

to him having to initiate a lot of the offense. But you know, he stepped up the challenge tonight and Wall it wasn't necessarily you know, only twelve shots. He was still hyper efficient overall, didn't really have it going from three. You know, he is has been up to the challenge so far. But I'm curious to see, like how real we determine that need is and how we can shift that with what we already have versus if we think the Clippers are going to be an active buyer on the buy out market.

Yeah, you shoot a game like tonight and you feel like, Wow, this team has enough playmakers that collectively they can get it done. You don't need a traditional playmaker when Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are going to have the ball anyways, it's just the guys around them have to have to move the basketball. Well. I feel like Eric Gordon does that, Bones Highland certainly did that. Mason Plumley average four assists per game in January. These

guys compliment the two stars so well. It just seems like the fit is right there with the guys they brought in. Yeah. Yeah, I would agree, and I would say that this was I mean, this game was definitely a positive affirmation for all of those moves. But the front end office

made it. We talked about, you know, sort of a consolidation of some of the positions that you know, I think that it was overall what they achieved through the trade deadline, and I you know, I think that this was a step in the right direction, albeit against the shorthanded Warriors squad. I did like the overall process, especially just given how low they were able to keep the turnovers in this one, despite you know, all the

new kind of moving pieces. Only eight turnovers this team is I mean, that's that's pretty incredible, even with the standard cast that's been playing together, you know, fifty some games to this point. He is well up. Dike from Clips and Dip does the podcast with myself and Charles Mockler. Well, we'll talk to you tomorrow for a tripod on the Clips and Dip. Thanks for doing some Clips and Double Dips tonight here on Clippers Talk, my

friend, always a pleasure. I'll talk you ate it coming up next we'll close things out. I got some postgame quotes from Coach Low that I found interesting. Clippers win one thirty four to one twenty four over the Golden State Warriors after losing two straight and now one nine of their last thirteen overall. Though they take on the Phoenix Suns to close out not the first half of

the season. There will be only about twenty five percent of the season left after they come back with twenty one games left after the All Star break, but work to be done in Phoenix coming up Thursday night. We'll preview that as well right here on Clipper Stock on a seventy other sports. Climbers were their third highest scoring game of the season. Then they put up one hundred and thirty four points on the Golden State Warriors. They win by ten at

one thirty four one twenty four. Welcome back into Clipper stock. I'm Adam Oslin. Clippers next contest for the All Star Break Thursday night in Phoenix, a team that's a half game ahead of them in the four seed in the West. I saw this quote post game from Paul George on Andrew Greiff's account works for the La Times covers Clippers quote. I think the key about it

is now they have a five man. When he was talking about the three guard lineups, Plumbley's addition means small ball can be used in doses and not just a second unit default. That's huge because if you're not able to stay in front of your defender, at least plum Ly is waiting for them on the back end to clean up some of the messes as he did against Moody who was trying to throw down on him. This is just a huge upgrade for the Clippers to have a guy with the experience of Mason Plumly and the

skill level having a career year and having him behind a vizza zoobots. That's big for this team. Also, lam Y of The Athletic talked about the mid range shooting for the Clippers. Tonight Warriors were one of eight in non paint twos. The Clippers were eight for eleven Kawhi three or four in the MIDI Paul George two, A two, Norm three or four. So they were getting to their spots and those are playoff type shots. You know, teams often give up the mid range. The Clippers have guys who can certainly

hit them. Clippers late in the ball game though, they were closing with the lineup with new Clipper Eric Gordon, with Norm Powell out there next to Paul George, Kawhi, Leonard and Evitza Zoobots. Those were the guys who eventually got it done as they pulled away, got up by sixteen, and eventually Steve Kerk called off the dogs with about four minutes left. Clippers go on to win by ten. Coming up Thursday night in Phoenix, tip time
