Welcome into your postgame show. I'm at am Oslin coming up on AM five to seventy LA Sports and just a bit, we'll have clipperstock for you eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six

AM five to seventy KLAC law Los Angeles, ninety eight seven KYSR HD two Los Angeles and iHeartRadio station. Let's get back to your radio voice of the Clippers in Atlanta. That would be Carlo Jimenez.
Well, Carlo, they did it. They went six and one, and now the Clippers have won thirty one of their last thirty nine games, twenty six of their last thirty one since December, and sixteen of their last twenty What can you say about this ball club? I mean, Adam,
you set you even talked about it. I mean, they set these high bars for themselves and you're like, yeah, maybe maybe they could go six and one, and they were a couple plays away from going seven and zero on this road trip if things go right for them over there in Cleveland. What an impressive couple of wins for this team. They did it in all different sorts of ways. They showed all facets of their game, hitting a
season nine twenty one threes tonight, and they continue to battle. It really does feel like something special is brewing the Clippers with a way they are taking on teams right now, with the way they're dominating in different ways. They're not relying on one player. I mean, you heard Daniel Tye said it. Yes, Kawhi Leonard's been excellent. They got double figures tonight from three guys off the bench, Tys was one point away, three guys in the
starting lineup, and t Man was one point away. Plumbley was two points away. Everyone contributed in this game, and they did it in a big way tonight. It was fun to watch the Clippers get it done. Six players in double figures. Kawhi Leonard led them with thirty six, James Harden with thirty and the shot of the ball game another four point play this time was able to lure in. It was Trey Young committing the foul. It was a huge shot and the Clippers big four plus a mere coffee, they
were able to close this one out. I mean, have out a mirror, how about a mere Adam He was on the bench to start the season, he wasn't even playing, and on a back to back on the road in Atlanta, he is the man down the stretch thirteen points, two for four from three to assists. He was accellently getting his hands in the passing lane, something that has been so fun to watch. His ability on the defensive end. When you heard it with Tylerui, he asked him yesterday,
how has Amir been so good? And you gotta give a lot of credit to Jeremy Castleberry, who has literally showed a mere coffee clips of how Kawhi Leonard plays defense, and they have work done that. Somebody who Tyleru said when he first met him, when he first saw him play, wasn't sure if he was gonna be able to play defense. Now a stalwart on the defensive end for this Clippers team. They just continue to have so much depth,
so much ability to find guys who can impact the ballgame. Even Daniel Tykes, I mean, didn't play for the first time last game, comes in today, almost has a double double and maybe hit a huge three to give the Clippers a lead going into the fourth quarter. Clippers, by the way, now at NBA best thirty and one when they have a lead entering the fourth quarter. The only loss, that one loss we don't remember, the one against Denver, you know, the one I'm talking about. Never
heard of it. I never have no idea. No, yeah, you have no idea what I'm talking about. But I mean, Adam, this team closing down the stretch nine to three in their last twelve clutch games. They are just checking every single box. It's hard to find holes in the Clippers right now. And how about this, after having fifteen turnovers. Yesterday in Miami, they cut that in half and then won. In this game,
they had just seven turnovers against an Atlanta team that was hot. They had one four straight obviously were their shooting was off the charge and the Clippers were able to match them. Somehow, I mean, on this road trip, Adam, the Clippers are averaging less than ten turnovers a game. That would be best in the NBA right now. That's how good they've been at taking care of the basketball on the road, where usually you're supposed to not
be able to take care of the basketball. I think that starts with James Harden. I mean when he has the ball in his hands tennis sists tonight to lead the Clippers with thirty points and eight rebounds. It just feels like the Clippers can do no wrong. The bearded one who is gonna need to get a big time power nap in before the next game. He has played
eighty one minutes the last two nights for the Clippers. Who somehow, I mean, I don't know who does the scheduling over there on the NBA, but how are you on the road for thirteen days and you got one day off before New Orleans comes in town. Doesn't get easier for the Clippers, but they've shown time and time again, doesn't matter the test or the situation. They get it done every night, no doubt. Clippers win in Atlanta one forty four. They go six in one on the Grammy road trip.
Face some adversity, with injuries, with quality opponents, doesn't matter, and now they're coming back home to take on the Pelicans on Wednesday. Tiptom is at seven. Let's get to some of those second half highlights by the Clippers. There were plenty they put producer Katie Newton to work in. This one. Game was tied up at sixty six at the half after the Clippers did not close out that second quarter correctly, as the Hawks went on an eight zero run in the
final minute of the period. So we're tied up at sixty six but to start the third the hot three point shooting just kept going from both teams. But let's talk about your clippers. Right corner open man three op and in h. He was so open he was clapping. You heard it. Turn away, pump bikes, flice to the ram, lobs it up. We left fan left, the short gets his own rebound, kicks it. George Rank corner three yopsy Pg. Thirteen with a bonus distance bucket bookmar pass Harden
fines man. What's corner? Leonard three jack Buttz Clippers with some tic tac toe passing and they end up with three points hardened at the top. Left wing George bounce past Leonard retort three, popping in. Howhi, Leonard Knight's the net as good as the Clippers were from three, Atlanta was right there with them, and the Clippers were down by two with just seconds remaining in the third quarter. So how about one more three point shot? Right wing?
Tys three at the horn, Yes, Sir, Daniel Tys beats the fuzzer. The Clippers take a one point lead into the fourth. They'll check it after the fact, but as of now, the Clippers up one o two, one oh one. Huge bucket from Daniel Ties. He had seven points in the third quarter and the Clippers, Yes, we're leading one o two to one oh one heading into the fourth. Early in that fourth quarter,
it was the claw Kawhi Leonard taking over. Leonard right wings around Bogdanovitch tight rooks up pick line bucks It plus the fowl wait room work for the claw find out Quinn Snyder. Leonard spin's baseline end of the paint, right handed handle, right handed flower, swirls the rim, gets his own rebound put back top and in Harden straddles the far timeline back down to copy left. The logo ten on the shot clocks Westbrok creak the line back door Leonard
rand in layup packed in the act the finish of the foul. George at the top trying to get five bay with five attacks the right elbow with three finds Leonard in the top pump fix with one side step football perfect. Kawhi Leonard is lethal. Kawhi Leonard had thirteen of his thirty six points on the fourth quarter, but the biggest shot of the game came from the bearded Wonder.
Harden starts to creak towards the three point line. The shot clock at six on the right angle with five with four dances on young with three lost a handle with two coast it up at the horn, gets found. Mix it in James Horden with the four pulling playoff opportunity one. A minute and six seconds left, Clippers up one forty three. They would get up by ten. They would knock down their free throws late and win by five in Atlanta one forty nine, one forty four, and go six in one on
the Grammy road trip. Best regular season run in the history of the franchise is happening right now. Clipper Nation, enjoy it. It's not the main goal, but brick by brick is how you build those good habits leading to that ever so evasive Larry Ob That's what the Clippers are after. The Clippers
end up shooting sixty percent from three. They went twenty one of thirty five from the outside, one more three pointer made than the Hawks, who were twenty of thirty nine. The Clippers shot fifty eight percent from the field, Atlanta fifty four percent. If you're wondering how you get a score of one forty nine to one forty four. Hot shooting in hot Atlanta, and both teams taking care of the basketball too, Clippers with just eight turnovers, Atlanta
with eleven. But that fourth quarter would decide things, as the Clippers outscored the Hawks forty seven to forty three. Kawhi Leonard led them with thirty six, had thirteen of his thirty six in the fourth. James Harden had eleven of his thirty in the fourth quarter, plus ten assists to just two turnovers. Paul George Nice bounce back of fishing game seven of thirteen, eighteen points, five assists, one turnover himself. Russell Westbrook bouncing back six of ten,
big block late leading to a mere coffee layup and one. Russ with thirteen, a mere Coffee with thirteen, Norman Powell with thirteen off the bench. What a luxury this team has? What depth? one forty nine to one forty four over the Hawks. Welcome into Clippers Tuck, I'm in a Maslin to eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy eight six six ninety eight seven two five to seventy Even swifties can call him tonight. I don't care. You gotta be proud of this team. Clipper Dation. You're gonna hear from Kawhi Leonard in just a bit, he had thirty six on just twenty shots. Continues to just go scorched earth on the
league. Here's what Kawhi Leonard has been doing as yes, my MVP campaign for him, because you know, the Claw doesn't care about it. He wants the Larry O. B. But we gotta talk about how good he's been. Last twenty nine game, James Kawhi Leonard is averaging twenty six points while shooting fifty eight percent from the field and fifty one percent from three. This is while being constantly double teamed while playing elite defense on the other end.
Hashtag Claw for MVP. People are just starting to take notice. The national media is way late to this. Lauren Hill arriving to a concert late. I don't know if she was there last night. She's known for that. It's true, yeah, a little bit. It is incomprehensible that he is not top five when it comes to betting odds for the MVP, that he isn't top ten or wasn't just a week ago on NBA dot COM's MVP Ladder, but earlier today, my guy Zach Lowe low Post was talking about
him and saying he is in the upper echelon. Now. Maybe he's been seeing my tweets on this. Talked to him at the game the other night before the Clippers left on this road trip. Remember, coach Lou said the goal was to go six in one. He told Carlo Jimenez that they put a number to it. I thought four and three would be successful considering the opponents, considering no Viza Zubats for all but one game, and he only played eighteen minutes yesterday. Didn't play in this one, just injury management.
He's still coming back from that calf injury, but we didn't expect him back yesterday. It's all good news, and it was a gauntlet. This was not an easy road trip. They never are. They had two three and four nights, no rest for the weary. They get right back after at home against the Pelicans on Wednesday. But you run through a scrappy Raptors team that almost took down OKC last night in doublet should add that one a Celtics team the very next day where they blow them out on the second night of
a back to back. They're only loss in Cleveland to the Cavaliers, where they really could have used the Visa Zubats. Of course, then they beat up on the Wizards, beat up on the Pistons win yesterday in a rock fight, a slugfest against the Miami Heat, you know that team that went to the NBA Finals out of the Eastern Conference last year. And then today they finish strong when there could have been tired legs on the second night of
a back to back, third game in four nights. In somehow, some way, I don't know, they saved their best shooting performance for last on this road trip. The Clippers ended up at fifty eight percent from the field and sixty percent from three, and they needed all twenty one of those three pointers to beat a hot Atlanta Hawks team that had just won four straight against some good competition too. They beat Lakers, Warriors, Phoenix Suns in there.
At least the Sons have been playing really good basketball are much better as of late. They took a sixty spot from Steph Curry and still won that game. The Hawks offense was second over the last week and a half when they had one four straight, and they showed it. They hit twenty threes. The shooting was just insane. Most of it was guys hitting shots with a hand in their face. The only open three I can really think of at the moment was the Terrence Man near side corner three when he was asking
for the basketball. Love seeing that clapping his hands. They're leaving me open. I'll knock it down. Team man four four nine points. But the Clippers closed with the big four plus a mere coffee as they led by one heading into the fourth. After when you know a three pointer from Daniel Tice to end the third quarter, Die Dice, baby Ice in his veins to knock down a huge shot down two. That's a big momentum swing to take
that one point lead heading into the fourth. They just took Atlanta's best shot. They had just taken the lead for the first time since the first quarter. Atlanta, they were up five to zero. Clippers went on a sixteen to two run, so they were up eighteen to seven. They continued to have their foot on the gas until the end of the second quarter, where they let up and gave up an eight oh run. Another big momentum switch. Eight oh run in one minute can't happen. But that's the difference in
this team. They don't have to play perfect basketball. They have so much talent. Their margin for error, as our guy Don McLean would say, has increased. So even when guys have off nights or bad performances, or the defense lets you down. The offense has been the best in the game since win November seventeenth, since they went to the new starting lineup, and the Clippers record since then best in the league. Since November seventeenth, they
have won thirty one of their last thirty nine games. Since December one, they've won twenty six of their last thirty one, and they've won sixteen of their last twenty Now and they are currently a half game back of being the number one seed in the Western Conference. What a turnaround after starting zero to five with James Harden. How about that. I've already seen the national media make that U turn when it comes to James Harden and if it can work
with this Clippers team. Kensrick Perk has went from saying I'm praying for coach Lou to the Clippers are the team that is the biggest threat to the Denver Nuggets in the West. What a flip flop. I was gonna name a politician there, but I'm not gonna do it political season. This is AMI seventy l S four, so you can find that down the dial on six forty A sister station. I just can't say enough with how this team has
almost forgotten how to lose. They just make winning plays constantly. It was a tight game in the fourth quarter because the start things off after the Clippers led by one, with that Tice three to end the third Bogie knock down a three pointer, Hawks back up two, they getting nan one. They missed the free throw, but Clippers are down by four, A mere three pointer, A mere coffee. Coffee is for closers, as Brian Seman would say. Then a Russ layup a hard and three. The Big four came
in at the seven point thirty mark. The Clippers were up by one at that time and they closed out the game, so they ended up and by big four, I mean to Q one three plus James Harden, Russell Westbrook next to a mere coffee. That lineup started at the seven thirty mark with the Clippers up one in the fourth quarter. They ended up being a plus four because they closed out the game and won by five. But a Russ dunk in traffic put them up three. Two hands for safety, as no
ego to say, a Kawhi dunk and one went down the baseline. Now the Clippers are up by four as Atlanta converted on the other end, but they weren't going away. Murray hits a three, then Paul George hits a three, Murray hits another three, Russ misses a three, Kawhi is a putback. Clippers are up by one. Russ to a mirror for a layup,
and then PG was fouled on a layup. But the biggest shot of the ballgame to put this one away with the Clippers up by seven after Kawhi, Leonard just went ballistic thirteen of US thirty six in the fourth quarter, a huge three near the end of the shot clock. Then Russ had the big block leading to an a mere layup off a Kawhi pass. But it was maybe we can hear one more time here, Katie the Bearded wonder. Pretty big play. Played it on the network side already. I want you
to hear it. He hit two four point plays yesterday James Harden after a rough game where he only had four points in Detroit Friday night yesterday in Miami, two four point plays in the fourth quarter tonight, biggest moment of the game to help put things away or just get enough distance, enough of a buffer against this red hot shooting Hawks team. It was the bearded Wonder James
Harden. Once again. Harden starts towards the three point line. This shot clock at six, right angle with five with four dances on Young with three lost a handle with two crows it up with the horn gets found mixing in the teams. A warning with the four playofpportunity won the minute and six seconds left, Clippers up one for he would hit the free throw. They go up by ten. They hit their free throws late, they win by five. I don't know if he called glass, he might have called game.
Shout out Paul Pierce and what a game and what a win it was for the Clippers. What a road trip historic for this franchise. If you wondered if this team was more serious this season, more focused building the right way, not skipping steps, this road trip confirmed all of that. They have the right attitude right now. They're in the right mental space. It's not
always perfect. It never is. You can look back at the Denver Nuggets last season and some of their ups and downs during the regular season and playing down to their competition at times, they still went on to win the championship. No. One remembers that. Now, can this Clippers team do the same thing. That's the ultimate goal. But you know what makes that goal
easier or more attainable if you're a top three seed in the West. There's been one team the last fifty years that has won the championship that was not a top three seed in their respective conference, ninety five Houston Rockets. Clippers have never been the number one seed in franchise history. This year they have a chance to be a lot of work to be done, but they are a half game back currently of OKC and Minnesota. They're right there nipping at
their heels, still have games left against them. Of course, they still have seventeen games left in March alone. The schedule makers Into a Dome, Into a Dome can't come soon enough. There's no place like home. There's no place like home. Let's start with Sean and Inglewood. Sean, what's up you're on Clippers talk? How about that four point play from James Harden. I loved it, man, I loved the close out. I love
the defense that they played in the fourth quarter. And basically, I mean even this team now is like they can withstand just about any drama, any adversity, and they have the confidence as well as the ability to sustain and come back before you may have had doubts. I mean, the Clippers are always good at coming back in games, but this time it's like, no matter what's thrown at them, they're gonna come back. And I'm thinking in that fourth quarter, hey, we don't have anything to worry about. We
got four Hall of Famers on the floor. And when Kawai came back in, I said, he's gonna give me thirty six points. Oh he got you? Where's that? Where's that? Where's that? Sweet? I need that? I need that. That's that's a pretty hot take because he got to exactly thirty six. Yeah he did. And I'm just saying before you see a difference in the team where, hey, we're gonna overcome it no matter what whatever it is. So excuse me, coffee, But I'm telling
you what, coffee. Yeah, I'm here. Coffee was great. That was a beautiful game. Man. That was just a very entertaining game. And you can just sit back and go, we're gonna get this game. You know, we We're not gonna lose this game. And that's now, as a Clipper fan is like, hey, I can depend on him to win, you know, and and depend on them to close out. And that's what they're doing. There's four Hall of famers on the floor that closed
out and knew what they were doing. And man, all those block shots come on? Really they really, they really played well. So I'm very happy with the game tonight, Adam. And it's good to talk to you, all right, Sean. Good to hear from you too. Let's do it again on Wednesday. All right, Okay, my friend Xavier in Lehabra Heights, Xavier who usually calls in a half hour before the game is even over. Javier, you're on Clipper Stock with Adam Allison. What's up?
Hey, what's up? But I don't think you were taking my call? Game? What you know? You were talking about Kawhi Leonard. I think this went for MVP. Now with this e Squols trip, especially today's game, it's really an open eyes with this national media. Now that's a good point. It's a good point. I mean, look at you. I mean thirty what thirty six points? I mean he was a beast again, unbelievable? What else? Xavier? What else? Good coaches? This game?
He had Russell Westbrook and Coffee playing the last what six seven minutes of the game. He didn't have Norman Kyle, he didn't have a man and look what he did. They want, they want us the game. Coffee's defense in the fourth quarter, Adam Man, he was everywhere. I mean, I understand Counties to be in the fourth quarter, but once in a while they want to go small. I mean, I like like Man, but Man, Man, he's a closure. He's a closer man. He he he closed the game like you you saw it. I have all the
faith in the world in a mere Coffee. You want me to play me from two and a half months ago screaming for them to start playing a mere Coffee because he was completely out of the rotation and then they were missing wings after the trade with Batoumen Roco. Don't make me do it, Hobbyer. I will. I'm his biggest fan. Yeah, I know, I know, but I mean I'm talking about closing the game. I mean, he's
literally he's been like this. He's been like this. He was a part of that big comeback they had in Philly against Doc Rivers a couple of years ago. Remember the January he had in twenty twenty two, he was carrying this team a mere coffees clutch. This is nothing new from him, I'm telling you, yeah, no, no, you talked about him. And the last thing is I need a lot of calls, believe me. When undefeated a road trip, if Zoo would have fitted against Cleveland, they would
have went undefeated. They would have won all the games. That said, Adam, thank you for taking We'll talk to you later. Good stuff. Hobby here. I like your point on them being on an East coast trip and therefore Kawhi Leonard being a little more visual to a different audience because not everybody's staying up late for these West coast games. They sleep on the West coast. So harken back to the Oregon Ducks and the final four back and
I don't know. Twenty nineteen, Clippers win one forty nine to one forty four in Atlanta over the Hawks. They go six and one on the roady. We'll update you on these Western Conference standings. I'm at a moslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy Speaking of the number six, Kawhi Leonard, with thirty six points on twenty shots, goes five of eight from distance, five of five at the charity
stripe. One of the differences in this game was uh Atlanta was missing a couple of key free throws here and there. The Clippers were good enough late to hold on and score forty seven points on the fourth quarter to Atlanta's forty three. Let's hear from Kawhi Leonard though post game on Valley Sports speaking with Christina Pig Thank you, Brian Kawhi. Second night of a back to back high scoring game here in Atlanta. But you guys found the energy to close
this one out. What made the biggest difference. We got stops down there and start the ball. We was executed it down at downy stretch on offensive end, and he was able to get it done well. You certainly made some big buckets down the stretch as well, part of a thirteen point fourth quarter for you thirty six on the night. But how are you continuing to make timely buckets. I'm just shooting the ball with confidence, working out,
believing in my work and went in tonight. You guys certainly put in some work over the last couple of weeks to go six and one on a seven game road trip. What have you learned about this group over the course of the last thirteen day. You know, he bonded on the road. We did a great job. You know it's very tough on the road and were happy to get it done all right. Thanks Christina, Thank you, Thank you, Christina. Pink best in the game as well. Kawhi Leonard there
man a few words. He makes it sound so easy. He makes it look so easy out there in the court. He's just so methodical. You can have a hand in his face. He's got Superman X ray vision. He looks right through you. There was some good defense by Hunter on him, didn't matter, and when he had to be at his best. He had thirteen of us thirty six points in that fourth quarter. Got the Clippers
off to a good start with eight points in the first quarter. James Harden had nine points on three three pointers made in that first quarter, sign of things to come with a four point played late from him. The Bearded Wonder went six of nine from distance, had six of the Clippers twenty one makes from the outside, Kawhi with five of them. Paul George with three eighteen points on just thirteen shots. Like seeing that he was my player to watch.
That he looked better, was being more aggressive early on at a jumper and a three pointer in the first quarter. But this Clippers team just comes at you in waves. You got three guys coming off the bench that all had thirteen points. Russ A Mere Coffee, Norman Powell, Daniel Tice with nine that big three to end the third quarter. Some big hustle plays, a couple of big putback dunks, catching a lob too. After there was a challenge that went against him. It looked like it got under his skin.
Looked like he was a little bit irritated by it because he started playing with more force after that. He had eight boards. Mason Plumbley had eight nine in twenty one minutes and a big block. Clippers had thirty two assists on their fifty two makes this offense. They said it would be scary when they figured this out. It is looked the part. Let's go too. We got here, Pam and Temple City. Pam, you're on Clipper stock
with that, Amason. You you know. I don't have anything of brilliance to say, but I do want to say that I talked to you way back when we first acquired James Harden and I said that he was going to be a different person on this Clippers team because of the Clippers organization and the Clippers camaraderie. And I've seen nothing less than that. I see all kinds of teamwork. I mean, I have can't why do you. I was nervous night when they came, kept going back and forth. I couldn't even
hit my supper. But I'll tell you one thing. After they won that Hamburg sure tasted a lot better. But it's just just a wonderful thing to watch. I just cannot command them enough. And I would be very surprised if they didn't go farther than ever. And I think having Coffee on the team. He may not be a Hall of Famer out there with the Hall of famers, but he has winged with the Clippers and I just love them. I love you guys, and I thank you for your time and for
taking my car. Thank you, grateful and call there. You don't have to be a Hall of Fame and you're playing next to four of them. You have to blend in. You have to be a connector. You got to step up and hit big shots, as he did in the fourth quarter when your numbers called. But you gotta do the little things. You gotta scrap a mere coffee and Terrence Man do all of that for this team. But I'm so happy for a mere coffee. A guy who was completely out
of the rotation completely. Paul George gets hurt, Tyleru starts him. The rest is history. You can't get him out of the rotation. Now he's earned all these minutes he's been closing games. Speaking of Tyler Lou, how prophetic is this. We'll hear from him postgame coming up, But this was before the Lakers game, right before the road trip. Here's what coach Lou said and what he wanted to see out of this Clippers team on the Grammy road trip. How do you try to keep guys movent during a long season?
Yeah, I mean just you try to take him in five games sample size and you try to say, okay, we go four and one this week, or we tough scheduled, can't go to worst three and two, like going this road trip right here, I want to be able to go six and one, but the worst case go five and two. You know, So that's gotta be on myself. All right, thank you so much, special luck, thank you, no luck needed skill, talent. And
the Clippers do it. They go six and one. That was before the Lakers game, the last game at home before the road trip, and he already had his eyes on going six and one five into it. Worse, six in one is what the Clippers were able to pull off. Tremendous. We'll take a quick time out, we'll come back. We'll get back to your phone calls eight six, six ninety seven, two five seventy. Chuck Mockler will join the show. Clippers win by five in Atlanta. They're coming
back home. They're taking on the Pills on Wednesday night, a team that has had their number but the last time out in New Orleans, Clippers blew them out. I expect the Pelicans to not forget that one. I'm out a Moslin. You're listening to Clippers sock here on five seventy LI Sports that Jay Z's speech was special. Some of you are gonna get robbed. They want to bring a banner with them to the into it down more LA Clippers
basketball on the LA Clippers Audio Network. Clippers goes six and one on the Grammy road Trip. Welcome back to the Clippers Talk. I'm at a Mazlin. We'll get back to your phone calls next segment eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. You can also reach me at follow out of May on X We're gonna hear from the head coach post game after he put a number on it. He said six and one was the goal and the Clippers achieved it. While we have a moment, let's pause ten seconds for station
identification. Here on M five seven E LA Sports, This is LA Clippers Basketball, AM five seventy KLAC Los Angeles, ninety eight seven KYSR HD two Los Angeles and iHeartRadio station. Let's get to our friend, Big Chuck. Mackler from Clips and Dip for a little double dip here on Clippers talk, and I guess I have to start out with the Mia Koppa Chuck. I was wrong. I thought the Clippers would go four and three. I thought they were too banged up, the competition was too good. Oh, I
feel so stupid right now. Look at me. I'm a wreck. Hey, I said five and two, So I was wrong as well, You idiot? That's wrong with you? Do you see this team? They don't lose games. I mean, this is what if at this point, I guess you weren't fully convinced the Clippers are taking this thing seriously this season.
This road trip is what people can point to. It's the end all be all of a team that's trying to put itself in position with the mentality for you know, championship expectations, right like these are the games that you should win if you really want to be, you know, considered a contender. And the Clippers have been so good over the last forty games, capping off the final Grammy trip by going six and one, it was just it's just
amazing. Did you have any concerns when they went to the four Hall of famers with a mere coffee late in the ballgame, because obviously there were many times this season and we'll see how it plays out moving forward, but the Big four just hasn't been able to make things work. They were good enough down the stretch, they were very good at times. They go on to
win by five, But that closing lineup, what were your thoughts. Yeah, I mean, if there's any there's any team that's going to make one of your lesser you know, one of your maybe not plus lineups look good, it's going to be this Atlanta Hawks team. I know there's absolutely no defense played on that side of the ball, which the Clippers didn't do a whole lot of sight either, But no, I thought Russ was really good. Kind of is the center of that small ball lineup. He's kind of
a pain for defenses when he's the role when he's the screener. If you know his big is lagging off him, that gives a room to cut and things like that. So it was all clicking pretty well. But I think it was probably seventy thirty the Clippers being locked in on the small ball lineup and then the thirty percent being the competition they were playing. Defensive level, and I don't know what you can do against some of the hot shooting that
was out there tonight. It's just indefensible. I mean, Clippers hit twenty one threes. The Hawks hit twenty a lot of them. I mean, guys knocked them down with a hand in their face. They were just hot. They were kind of due. The Clippers three point shooting had been somewhat down over the last week and a half overall, and then they go sixty percent from the outside. But it just shows off the firepower this team has. Yeah, it really does, especially Kawhi Kawhi, you know. I
mean, he took eight threes in this game. He was fantastic in this game. He finished with thirty six. He hit five of those threes, which is just insane too. Him and James Harden. People keep fouling James Harden on these three pointers. I'm not sure why they're doing it. He's built a career off of it, though, Chuck. They keep falling for it. Yeah, but no, this the ball movement was great tonight. You saw a mirror make the extra pass a couple of times. You saw
Palled George make the extra pass. I thought Mason Plumbley made some really good decisions them the short roll to get things moving for the Clippers on the perimeter, and there was one moment tonight where Harden brought it up, he swung it to Paul George and Paul George kind of hit the little skip past the Kawhi in the corner who was wide open again for some reason, will take it, but and he cashed it. So everyone's playing on the same string
right now, and it's really showing. Plumbly had a couple of makes off Kawhi Leonard passes where they were very much in sync and just beautiful bounce passes from the claw. He ended up with five assists of just one turnover, and that was one of the bright spots in this game, aside from the hot shooting. After turn the ball over depending on the box score, fifteen or sixteen times yesterday in Miami, they turned it over just eight times tonight.
They took great care of the basketball, and without that they don't win the game because it's not like they were slowing down the Atlanta Hawks. So the possession game was huge. Yeah, the defense in this one, you know, I know they were missing Zoo, but they still you know, they took six less shots. I thought, actually does make a difference in
any game like this against the team that run like the Hawks. But you know it was I've tweeted this out on our show account, but this game could have also kind of been considered a house money game, right, No, Zoo, it's the second nut of a back to back, on the seventh game of a road trip. The Clippers would have lost this game. We all would have gone, okay, a little frustrated by the defense. Well you also get it. Thankfully, we get to kind of wonder,
you know. I am interested to see what it looks like more so on a Wednesdays, a lot better team, maybe with the full squad. No real word on Zoo's availability yet, but playing in Atlanta is weird. Playing the Hawks isn't the novelly, I think, and maybe shouldn't count towards team's overall stats if you're a Western Conference team, because it's just pick up the
ball and run up and down the court in this in these games. So I'm more interested to see what it looks like back at home against you know, a team like the Pels that'll be Wednesday night. You mentioned them playing with some house money, and if they had lost this game, they still would have gone five and two on the road trip. But I think it speaks to the mentality of this team right now and just how focused they are.
And listen to this audio, Chuck. This was coach Lou speaking with Carlo Jimenez before the Lakers game, so their last home game before they went out on the road trip, and he put a number on what he wanted to see out of the Clippers in the seven games. I want to be able to go six to one, but the worst case, go five and two, you know, so that's gotta be on. Yeah, he want them to go six and one, like they look like they were in tune and not a team that had to foot out the door or senior itis and
we're just ready to go home. They still looked hungry out there tonight. Yeah, and this and every single guy does right, you know. Paul George had kind of he had he only had eighteen tonight. But Paul George was really really good on both fence for the Clippers tonight. He stuffed the boxer. He had eighteen three five two steals, maybe a future mini fouls, but he was great. Kind of silently. Russell Russ came off the
bench and was really good after kind of a shaky start. Him and Norm defensively were kind of wonky to start this one, but they figured it out. Like it's trickled down that's actually working right, Like everyone's really feeling it. A mere coffee played fantastic defense in this game and playing great defense on this whole road trip. So you're just getting these elevated performances from guys because they're kind of feeding off each other and they've seen each other put in the
work, right, they're practicing more than ever. They they're actually, you know, like you said, kind of locked in throughout the whole time. I don't know how many times we're gonna say they would have lost this game last year, but we might be out of that now. But this wasn't quite one of those games. But it's one of those performances where you feel better about it than if it would have happened last year, even with the same result. You know, Jason feels like we got out of there with
a win. You know, we took the win. You know, James Harden Friday night only scored four points and then in the next two games teas, he has three four point plays and it was probably the biggest shot of the game tonight on Trey Young. You're right, it's crazy that it keeps happening. I think he's at twenty four of those on the season, and
the next closest guy is Steph Curry with sixteen to four point plays. But it's because the dribble drive is still there too, Like he has so many ways to beat you, tenn assists, two turnovers, and this team has
disorganized as they looked offensively in the first five games with him. Now it's just like, oh yeah, they're getting at least one twenty tonight, Like it is assumed that they're gonna score one hundred and twenty points and if the defense shows up to their capabilities, I don't know how many teams can hang with them. And I just mean hang because you see what happened in Boston with them blowing them out. Like this Clippers team is as dominant of a
team as we have seen maybe in the NBA in some time. Yeah, you bring up Harden another day. That's gotten good with him is the catch and chet threes. Those were kind of when an adventure and he first got here, and now he's able to get a consistently higher number of threes up, which is great. He took nine tonight, which is fantastic. But Kawhi Leonard is also playing his best basketball of his career. Maybe the team is a half game out of first right now, and he just continues to
do it on both edds. For the Clippers, the MVP odds are going to get worse and worse. So I hope everyone is paying attention now because what he's doing is very special and will be remembered. It's funny because I looked earlier today to see if they had already changed on Bovada. They did change on Basketball Reference with their NBA tracker. He now has a one percent chance of winning the MVP, when he wasn't top ten before that. But I know you looked up on NBA dot Com like a week or so ago
on their NBA ladder, and he wasn't in the top ten. Earlier today. He was eighth, but he was a plus ten thousand on a betting site earlier today. You're right, it's going to change. Zach Lowe talked about it earlier today. I don't know if he saw my tweet because I'm tweeting at all these guys now, the guys that I love the most, the guys that would appreciate what Kawhi Leonard is doing the most. I'm adding them after every game, putting up the latest Kawhi Leonard stats. They just
keep getting better and better. A month ago, we were talking about an all time run. Now he's at twenty nine games. If you go back to the last eighty two games, as our friend Justin Russeau did on Fly by Night, he's at something like fifty three forty six ninety splits his last eighty two games, going back to January first of last season till now, he's played about now eighty three games, and his shooting splits are incredible.
We're seeing something that we may never see again, this level of efficiency from a player that is doing it with jump shots. We're not talking about Shaquille O'Neal taking shots within four feet of the rim. We're talking about Kawhi Leonard taking most of his shots in the mid range and shooting fifty eight percent from the field over the last twenty nine games now, and not only doing that,
as you mentioned, being incredibly efficient on the offensive side wall. He's getting more double teams, which is something he's learning to play through more. There's still some growing paints there, but the Clippers are going to figure that out. And the other side of the balls, he's playing elite defense.
He's playing great defense when it matters. He's I mean, Neil, you look at the onoflimers from the Clippers and it's a little drastic something we should maybe keep in mind as we move forward, and you know, getting zoos settled in here. But no, he's he's phenomenal on both ends. We have to hope this, you know, continues, because the Clippers are going to go as far as Kawhi and PG takes them. Right now, that feels really, really really far. Oh hope this continues. And yeah again
excited to see what they look like on Wednesday against the Puse. He is Chuck Mak of Clips and Dip. We got a YouTube coming for you guys tomorrow with Will Updyke as well. Charles. Thanks for doing this tonight here on Clipper Stock once again, Hey, thanks for having me. Let's go clips coming up next. Back to your phone calls at eighty six six ninety
seven two five seventy and we'll hear from coach Luda close things out. Plus Katie's casual corner right here on Clipper Stock on a five to seventy LA Sports, the LA Clippers continue their hunt for a Lario B. They still want to get that LARRYO beat. Don't miss a moment all season long. This is the LA Clippers Audio Network claw for MVP. Clippers winning in Atlanta one forty nine, one forty four. They go six and one on the Grammy
road trip. Here's what Kawhi Leonard has done over his last eighty three ball games. He's at just about twenty six points per game, fifty three percent from the field, forty six percent from three eighty nine percent at the charity stripe going back to January of last year. It is he's an alien. He's out of this world. I've never seen like it. The efficiency is just at that position. It's crazy. I don't know if anybody has had
to stretch like this. The only three guys that I could guess over a twenty nine game sample size that have shot fifty eight percent from the field fifty from three ninety percent from the free throw line. KD maybe, Steph maybe Jokic, maybe I don't know the free throw shooting would be there. It's yeah, it's wild. Let's hear from coach Lou postgame after the Clippers win by five in Atlanta. They return home Wednesday to take on the Pelicans after
going six and one on their Germy road trip. Here was your head, coach, and we gotta be a lot better, you know, we gotta be a lot better defensively, especially closing the games. I mean, I know, Trey, you know, the end of the game was gonna you know, try to take over and play fast and get to the free throw
line. But we just had a lot of you know, miscommunications gave us from threes when when supposed to and I'm just not playing through the game, and so we gotta be better, you know, and closing the games. With that being said, this is a hell of a trip for us. You know, I'm gonna go six to one against the caliber teams we played on this trip, you know, coming into it, like we knew it
was gonna be a tough battle. But I get these guys credit. You know, we stuck with it. You know, we got down in some games early, continue to keep fighting and like I said, just a total team effort. You know, everyone contributed on the offensive end, but you know, defensively, we gotta get back home and really start locking in defensively
and being better because we are better than that. And I don't know if it's fatigued and tired, and you know, guys are playing a lot of minutes, played a lot of games, seven games in eleven days, so I'll give them a little bit of a little bit of the benefit of doubt with that, but you know, we got to be better. And just you know, Sharper, I love that. I love that. Not satisfied demanding more of the guys they do. The goal isn't to win a game
in Atlanta in February. The goal is to be the last team standing. Clippers have their sights on something much bigger than just this road trip and just what's happening right now in the regular season. They're trying to build championship habits that will translate into the postseason. Morris and Long Beasts to close things out tonight here on Clippers Stock. What's up, Morse, Yeah, it wasn't. Wasn't Kawhi Leonards the player of the week last week, he was the
player of the week. I don't know how he wasn't Player of the Month, and I think they gave that to Defn Booker. But yeah, he's still being overlooked. It's not good enough. He was a better the weak I won you. I forget who was he had a call of that said that the Clippers would be in first place by the time of the All Star Game. Do you remember who that was? Oh, that is a good question. That was me, That that was me, that was you, that was me, my brother. When when my boy went to the bench
and the system gut in there there was a guy named Gilbert. I amina she to use his name. He said that one day the Clipper is gonna win thirty straight games. Now they're not gonna win, no thirty straight games, but they're not going to be far from it. I'll see you when the next game, Adam behavior several gates. All right, Morris, you know what slip my mind, But I think you're right you called it. Now. They are in first place yet, but they're half game back.
That possibility is there. Before we get out of here, let's talk with Katie Newton, our producer here. It's casual. Katie's NBA corner. What's up, Katie? Here we are, Well, I have a question that again I didn't mean too I got a little scratchy throat. Whatever, I'm
screwed. I think I got it from you anyway, this guy Okay, I don't know if you know the answer to this, but you know fans who sit like courtside and sometimes the players will like fall on them and knock all their snacks over and stuff, like, man, there's a beverage here. They do they get that? Like? Does the stadium replace that for free year? Is it just like you're rich enough to buy court side seats? Like, sorry, it's the risk. It could be both. I
think I've seen items, food, beverages get replaced. But yeah, if you're sitting down there, and maybe you saved up for ten years to finally sit courtside so you can be like the guy with the Apple Vision on. But you know, I think you're taking care of the player might even slip you at twenty or something. Do they just carry their wallets in their shorts? Well, you know, if it's in the first half, they can get there at halftime and come back out there help you out. I don't
know. It's an interesting question, Katie. Just bring a sippy cup. You'll never be sitting courtside to worry about it. Those same Katie Newton, our producer, Thank you Katie before we get out of here. Thanks to the Clippers organization, Ralph Lawler, Brian Seeman, Know What Ego, Carlo Jimenez on the call, the callers, the listeners, the Big Brother,
Jake Warner. See you on Wednesday. I'm at a Moslin until Wednesday with the Clippers back home at Crypto taken on the Pelicans pregame at six, I'll talk to you then play me out that hard why he was doing his thing. All they want to do is win in La oh Win. I thought they gave everything they had. I'm very proud of them. This has been Clippers Talk, the official postgame reaction of the LA Clippers.
