Transcript

The game is over, Paul George money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just begun. Kahi Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers locker Roo, a recap of today's game and a look ahead on your hope for La Clippers basketball. And now your host, You, sir, are a bad man, Adam Ousley. The Clippers fallen game one of this two game mini series and okay see by a final score of one eight to ninety four. Welcome into your post game show coming up, he'll

hear from the head coach and the players. But first back to okay, seeing back to your voice of the Clippers and Noah Eagle. No, it just looks like, even going back to game one, this team has been out of sync and out of sorts so far. But granted they've had different lineups, they've had different rotations out there, they just haven't built up that chemistry yet. Yeah, Adam, And that's the biggest key is just continuing to work and get the guys on the floor together. I think that's that's

step one. Gotta get everybody on the floor first and feeling healthy without a minute's restriction in the right spot and then you can really start to assess what the team has. But we're four games into the season and I think it needs it needs to start happening soon, and the hope is that everybody allows for that to happen, the injuries allow for that to happen, and everything in between that. But look, this is not the end of the world.

It's game four, and as I said during the broadcast, it honestly might be a blessing in disguise that this happens right now and waked this team up so that they can start getting there. Their everything else in order, whatever you want to call in order make sure that they have every mindset in the right place and everything else in between. So I actually think this could be a good thing, but we're not going to know for sure until maybe

Thursday night when they come out and hopefully play with a purpose. This early season adversity reminds me a little bit of the fifty one point loss to Dallas to start the season a couple of years ago. It didn't define them. They ended up going to the Western Conference Finals without Kawhi Leonard. Obviously, there's so much time to turn this around. It is strange to see so many players in shooting slumps at once. I thought, Luke Kennard played really

well out there, and you brought it up. I believe in the pregame show. Cannard's defense has also been stellar to start off this season. Yeah, I think today was another shining example of both the aggression offensively that's been an improvement, and certainly the defensive strides that he continues to take that started last year. For me, I thought that he really took a major step

forward and he's only continued that by hopping again in the right direction. So positive signs from him, I thought, some positive signs from a mere coffee. You continue to battle after taking a tough fall. And how about Viza zu bats with another monster game ten points, fourteen rebounds, and seven blocks, a near triple double for a Vizza Zoo bats tonight. So there were

certainly certainly bright spots in this one. But he can't sugarcoat it. This is a tough loss, and you need to get back on the saddle in the right way on Thursday and play with a purpose from the opening tip, and they'll have a chance to write the wrong against this same team in Okay. See, it's a two game mini series against the Thunder, same tip time at five pm. We'll have Clippers countdown for you is starting at four no ego, great call. As always, we'll talk on Thursday, my

friend. You know what some people might think that the result change is the way I do think. You can't wait at him? Come on, let's go all right, coming up, we'll get to your final box score. We got postgame audio from your head coaching the players as well. Clippers fall in the game one of the two game any series one oh eight to ninety four to the Thunder. You're listening to Los Angeles Clippers Radio that one and he got it. Count it from distance the odds on favorite to hoist the

Larry O'Brien heavily can test it and it doesn't matter. On the home of your LA Clippers when I had the red and black lumber second with the hat to match Clippers listen, okay, see one oh eight to ninety four to the Thunder. It dropped to two and two on the season. Welcome into your post game show. I'm at'm oslin still to come. I'll have Clippers talk for you on AM five seventy LA Sports. You'd like to get on early eight six six nine, eight seven two five seventy eight nine eight

seven two five seventy help a host whose voice is failing him. So the Clippers fall in game one of those two game miniseries in Oklahoma City, and they struggled offensively once again, shooting just forty two percent from the field. And that's someone inflated by them hitting some shots in the fourth quarter where they went for their quarter high of twenty six points. It was the loan quarter where they outscored the Oklahoma City Thunder. Clippers were led by Luke Kennard off

the bench with fifteen points in twenty nine minutes. My player to watch hit three three pointers, had a couple of assists, was helping drive. What was a comeback that came up short late? Clippers had it to within eleven SGA came back the other way hit a big three pointer. He finished with thirty three. Continues to burn his former team in the Clippers whenever they match

up. This was the first win of the season for the Oklahoma City Thunder the rest of the Clippers, Norman Palace troubled again three of ten from the field, Regie Jackson four of seventeen, John Wall played well twenty minutes, had twelve points, four assists, but four turnovers. Four of nine from the field. Vizza Zubots, you could say he's been very solid all season long. And thirty five minutes, ten points, fourteen boards and seven blocks. I want to check on that and see if it's a career high.

No one, zoo, it may have just tied one. No, new career high seven blocks for a Vizza Zubots. Okay, he did tie his career high. No no, no, no no. DeAndre Jordan had seven

blocks back in twenty fifteen. I Vizza Zubots is the first Clipper to have seven block shots in a game since DeAndre Jordan on October thirty feet on Halloween in twenty fifteen against the Sacramento Kings, Zubots stellar defense and the Clippers overall held the Okay see Thunder to thirty eight percent from the outside four or thirty from three. You would think with those numbers they would have pulled off the victory. The difference in this game the Thunder ended up taking this is an

unbelievable number, twenty seven more shots than the Clippers. So even though they had the lower field goal percentage. They got up more shots because the Clippers turned it over eighteen times and the Thunder just five times. Coming up, we'll have postgame audio from Coach Low and the players after the Clippers losing. Okay, see in game one of this two game mini series, one of eight to ninety four. I'm out of Moslin. You're listening to your post

game show here on the Los Angeles Clippers Radio Network. Rom Analysis Banissa none them with some counters, but now I'm counting this Ramajan, will Maya Coulton. Let's if I come down in this who say when my boomate taste like too late for the ends? Welcome into Clipper Stock. Here's a new sheriff in town. You won't be able to deny it. They're going to go to the NBA Finals. I believe it in my heart. This is the best team in the history of the franchise. I am all about the Clipper

Nations. This is Clippers talk. They're trying to win the whole thing. A postgame look, it's your La Clippers recapping the game, the stars and looking ahead to what's next. To hear episodes you've missed, Subscribe to Clippers Talk on iHeart Radio or wherever you podcast. Now your host of Clippers Talk. Here's Adam Oswin. I'm not gonna do whatever thinks I'm gonna do and just flip out Clippers losing. Okay, see one OHO eight to ninety four

to the Thunder and Game one of this two game mini series. Welcome into Clippers Stock. I'm Adam Oslin. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Is the phone number eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy if you would like to voice your concerns or send some positive vibes. Y'all coming up. We'll have Chuck Mackler on from Clips and Dip. You'll hear

from the head coach post game. I just saw some audio up there somewhere and the players after a disappointing loss and effort overall from the Clippers, who looked completely out of source and at a sink and really have since Game one. They beat the Lakers because their margin for error was wider because of who was available to them, with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard out there. No PG, no Kawhi Leonard more on that, No Marcus Morris and they end

up losing to SDA and the Thunder by fourteen points. Jay Gilds Alexander continues to just be a Clipper killer since he was killing it for the Clippers as a Clipper. He had thirty three points eleven or twenty two shooting and when the Clippers made their run had it to within eleven. In the fourth quarter after Luke Kennard really started to find himself and he thought, if they are going to come back, Luke Nard's going to be a part of it,

just like the thirty five point come back against Washington. But then SGA hit a three pointer and instead of that eleven point lead, it was back up to fourteen for o k See. Cannard would end up getting a technical. I think frustration boiling over from some of those offensive fouls that were called on a hymn Sunday night against the Phoenix Suns. You rarely see it from Lucanhard, but he's a competitor. He was fired up. He was trying to

will him back. I thought it was a solid performance from John Wall. You don't like to see four turnovers, but did what he could. Had twelve points and a Visa Zoobots steady, consistent, reliable. Had ten and fourteen and thirty five minutes and seven blocks, a career high. First time a Clipper has had that many blocks in a game since October of twenty fifteen. It was DeAndre Jordan against the Kings on Halloween. But the Clippers what

cost him? They have on right now. But they just don't look like themselves. They don't look like they're playing with a purpose. They look out of sorts, out of sinc out of rhythm. And it's a multitude of guys. It's not just one. Now is more expected out of Norman Powell because of his scoring prowess and who he's been really the last three or four years, A guy getting nineteen per game. Yeah, and he's in a

deep funk. Something is not right. I don't know if it's physical, mental, whatever it may be. But when he throws up an airball and it's missing layups and goes three of ten and h five from distance, I gotta think right now it may be in his head. He's pressing a little bit. The good news is it's game four. I'm old enough to remember the Clippers losing by fifty one. I think this was Game three of the season a couple of years ago against the Dallas Mavericks. Did that define their

year? Was that representative of who the team was? No. They fought and got to the Western Conference Finals without Kawhi Leonard for the first time in franchise history. Not many remember that loss. This will be a race too. I believe it's a little bit concerning, But most of that concern for me is just the fact that Kawhi Leonard couldn't go tonight. The play on the court, yeah, they didn't look right, but what came out pregame,

Yeah, sure, I'm a little bit concerned about it. Coach Lu said, Kawhi Leonard felt some stiffness in his knee after shoot around and the team decided to hold him out as a precaution. Leonard's going to back to Los Angeles tomorrow, and Lu said, because he'll have more resources there to keep his recovery going. And Coach Lu said, he's not concerned. Okay, that assuages my fears a little bit. There, so does this. This was from the Athletic and Law Murray. He put this out. The

last bit I just read was from Andrew Gryff for the La Times. Law Murray said. League sources tell The Athletic that Kawhi Leonard wanted to play despite me stiffness. Leonard was not going to be scheduled to play Thursday. The staff decided just to hold him out as a precaution, precautionary measures. Better to be safe right now, guys coming off an a cl injury. Yeah, he's about sixteen months removed. But you really want to push things in

game four the regular season. Is that going to make a difference. Is that going to get you momentum going into the playoffs in April? I don't think so. So be overly cautious now, be as safe as possible, Baby Kauai. As much as he wants to play, you gotta save players from themselves. That's what you have to do. Always. Kawai as a competitor, he wants to be out there, he always does. He's been

waiting to come back, and he's moved and this looked really good. And the two games he played in Game one against the Lakers and then Sunday night against the Phoenix Suns. So yeah, it's slight concern nie stiffness whatever that means, but not overly concerned. I think they're just airing on the side of caution. But the Clippers, speaking of airing, error's galore. They

just have so many miscues right now, Bizarre turnovers. Avitsa Zubos throwing up the ball at the end of the second quarter when there's eight seconds left, acting like there was point eight seconds left. I'm guessing that's how we read it on the game clock in the half, and going for that seventy footer which almost went in to his credit, That's just strange. Reggie Jackson's turnover

in the third quarter. I know Reggie has some turnovers in there, and he had three of them, but just throwing the ball away, giving the ball away eighteen turnovers again to the opposition that had five in Oklahoma City. You want to know why the Clippers lost this game to a team that shot thirty eight percent and four of thirty from three in the Thunder, It's because the Thunder got up twenty seven more shots than the Clippers. They could afford

to miss some when they were attempting that many more. Clippers shot a better percentage forty two percent from the field, ten to thirty one from the outside. Unfortunately, that's about thirty two percent. That's what they've been shooting so far from three. They're due for a heater. We know this team as great three point shooters second half of last season, after a slow start, they were the best three point shooting team again after the All Star break.

I expect them to be top three. This season hasn't played out that way yet. Reggie Acton going one of six, Norman Powell going oh of five, as I mentioned, even Luke Kennard just going three of seven. We know what he's capable of. I'm not putting it on Luke. I'm just saying he's someone who could go five of seven or six of seven or seven of seven easily. They have guys that are just unbelievably in a bad funk right now, and so many guys are slumping at once that makes it look

this bad. And okay, see gets their first win of the season. I said it in the pregame. A team that's oo and three at home, that's dangerous. They're still fighting and scrapping like it is the playoffs to get that first victory, to feel good about themselves. SGA coming back today, dangerous danger Rogers. We all knew it was coming. They couldn't stop

SGA anyways, and the thunder did put up twenty five free throws. That's another area they killed the Clippers. Yeah, sixty rebounds to the Clippers having forty seven and twenty one offensive rebounds from Oklahoma City, and I think it was on the SGA made three pointer to bring it from eleven to fourteen and the fourth where they had four different chances, extra possessions, extra opportunities,

and they finally got it to go because of all those offensive rebounds. La Vita Zubats was drawn out to the three point line, so Smalls were in there battling for the board. They couldn't get it. SGA hit that shot, and I think looking back, that was the backbreaking dagger. That was what hurt the Clippers most. They had some momentum. As bad as things were, it's almost like when the Clippers get down by twenty, you get their attention and they click in. I'm not saying it should be like that,

but we've seen it. They came back on twenty or more five times last year. And there's always that hope with this team because of the firepower, because of the guys who can get hot at a moment's notice. But too many guys are ice cold, as Andre three thousand would say, ice cold to the end degree. For this team to shoot thirty three percent from three four games into the season, that's ice cold for them at league averages

around thirty six percent now from three. But for this team that can shoot above forty percent from the outside as a whole, and I think how it still has a good chance too on the year to be that cold to start the season. Something's not right. Just too many guys not playing good basketball at once. That's what we're seeing out there. But again, it's game

four. They're gonna turn this around. I bring up fifty one point lost to the Dallas Mavericks early a couple of seasons ago, in the twenty twenty twenty one year, because well, most people don't remember it, and there's a reason. It happened within the first two weeks of the season and it didn't amount to Hill beams, It didn't amount to anything. By the end

of the year. No one picked up on that. Or remember remember that time Clippers lost by fifty one and then made it to the Western Conference finals. They didn't let that loss define them. Now they need to play better and more sound basketball soon, because in the Western Conference, I've been watching losses by other teams that I think are going to be in the hunt for a top four seed in the West this early on in the season. So

I'm not gonna say it doesn't matter. I've watched Denver, I've watched Phoenix, and I've watched the Golden State Warriors when they're not playing the Clippers. Maybe rooted against them here and there, because in the end, I think those teams are going to be really close and clumped up for top four season in the West. Is it going to show you the character of this team and who they're going to be the rest of the year their identity. No,

I don't think that's what tonight is at all. If anything, Thursday could show their character when they have a chance to completely redeem themselves in Okay see still and beat this thunder team and I don't care who's available. I mean I do, but you want everyone to be healthy. Of course, I'm saying this team is too talented to lose by fourteen in Okac, to be down the majority of the game, to get down early like this and

get punched in the mouth first again it happens Sunday night. It gets Phoenix when you're down twelve. You would have thought they responded tonight, but it's not easy when you're juggling different lineups and Norman Powell is in this deep of a slump. I think he gets pointed in the right direction. Other guys follow because he's an efficient twenty point a game score normally, normally norm and has just looked outside the last game of the preseason like he's on this team

for the first time. And I know we only played five games with him last year, but he played much better than this. And he's missing layups and air bolowing a three pointer, probably overthinking some things A lot of Clippers likely are. That's what leads to some of these just bizarre, out of the ordinary, extraordinarily bad mistakes. That's what we've seen so far. I don't expect it to continue. First call of the night, Javier and Lahabra

Heights, you're on Clippers stop without hm Auslin. I I don't think you were taking my call the positive sight first thing. It's like you said, it's only the fourth game. Now, the negative site. I know you keep repeating that it's they're in a font like all the players, I mean most, don't you put yeah? Most? Okay, now is that for maybe Zoobach and maybe John Wall and maybe Luke Kenard. But I mean at this point, I mean, they had what eighteen turnovers and Oklahoma had five.

It isn't a little bit of blame. I mean, I know so many the fourth game, but on the coach on on coach Lou, I mean, they don't come with they don't they don't bring an effort. I mean Oklahoma is trying to tank, Adam, I mean not. You know, they got the guys out there on the court are not trying to take though. Sga was out there, and I think on the right team that wins, you know, forty five games, he's an easy All Star. He isn't gonna get the nod. He'll have the big numbers because I don't

think they're gonna win that many. But Sga, you could say, is the most talented player out there on the court tonight. Yeah, I mean yeah, And like you said, it doesn't matter if Kawhi is not there, Paul George or Morris, you got to put a better effort and Tyler's got to get him ready. I mean, I just you know, Norman Powell, I just I don't get it. I mean, he was a stud the first couple of games you played last week the Clippers, and like

you said, maybe a time his head but he's lost. And the other guy, Reggie Jackson, do you see it? But I mean I just see him just just not being Reggie, Like he's just going to the motion. I mean, he has some ridiculous back turn over just careless. I mean, is he not happy? I mean, I just doesn't seem like he's he's there, I don't. I mean, is it because it cut his minutes? I mean it has to be because he was not like this last year and he let me correct you there, he was exactly like this

to start the season last year. Do you remember what happened? Brandon Boston joked around with him and said, you got a sweet talk in romance the basket and Reggie had a critical shot at the end of a game. God was it against Okaysey. But it helped them get the win and he got his mojo back. He started off miserably last season. Actually, so this is not totally out of the ordinary with Reggie Jackson to start off a year okay, alrighty, So I mean, like like Noah Eagles said, it

gotta start quick. So Thursday. We'll see how he goes on Thursday. But they gotta come ready to play, and they become ready to play, he should win one Thursday, Thank you, Adam. Thursday. All right. I' here. I appreciate the phone call, and I agree with you. Thursday is a big game all of a sudden, a big early season

measuring stick. Not because of the opponent, because most nights the Clippers are playing against themselves, meaning they're the more talented team, and self inflicted wounds, careless turnovers are going to lead to them beating themselves, not necessarily the opposition. That's what happened tonight. We'll take a quick time out eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy eight six six ninety eight seven two five

seventies the phone number. Clippers lose game one of a two game mini series. And okay, see one oh eight to ninety four. I got some phone calls the screen. We just got another one. If I'm putting you on hold, do just that. I'll be with you in a moment. More Clippers stock coming up, Chuck, Mackler will be here. We'll have Coach low audio two here on M five seventy l A Sports. I said it him to him, to him, hip him, how you don't stop.

We'll bring it out by a bunch of the Bugadi band band number Fanny got it. Count it from distance. The odds on favorite to hoist the Larry o'bride heavily can test it and it doesn't matter on the whole of your LA Clippers, I champ build water. You've got the cavocand of fun. You've got the bad, the cannon food beat. Even if I ride a black to Jaiski. Somebody bad, bad day, harassing me. Clippers lose one O eight to ninety four in ok s to the Thunder. Welcome back

into Clippers Talk. I'm at a Moslin still searching for some Coach lou postgame audio. This was game one of a two game miniseries in Oklahoma City eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy And before you get back to your phone calls, let's pause ten seconds for station and dentification. Here on AM five seventy LA Sports, this is La Clippers Basketball AM five, seventy KLAC Los Angeles, ninety eight seven

KYSR HD two Los Angeles and iHeart Radio station. If you heard my diet tribe, my opening segment, my a block, My central point is it's game four and they're missing three starters. And not just three starters, no Kauhai, No Paul George and Marcus Morris, who has been off to a really hot start. And this team is kind of scrambling to find themselves with some new pieces like John Wall and they just look out of sorts. It's gonna take time, but they could bounce back Thursday and win by twenty.

Would anyone be surprised by that? No, we've seen it before. They lost by fifty one to start off a year, a couple of seasons ago, and they went to the Western Conference finals. All right, let's go to Greg in Newport. What's up Greg? All right, Adam, so let me see where I want to start. Man. First of all, I wont Adam. I didn't see the game tonight. I apologize, bro, but I got in my truck. You listened to it, though, right, Yeah, they're good and you did see it. Noah painted that

picture. Man, I was just surprised that we lost, but it don't it don't surprise me at the same time because you said Peg Kauai and Marquis Mars didn't play. But what I want to say is this, Adam. Now, a lot of sources out there are saying the Clippers are one of the teams, if not the team that they're predicting to, you know,

win the championship this year. Man, Listen, I hope the players are not, you know, buying into the heights because even though you might have outlets and and other sources saying that you like the Clippers too, you know, to win the championship this year or represent the Western Conference, Man, you still gotta go out there and you gotta play. Bro And I was at the game Sunday night, and I didn't like the lineup that we came

out with on the floor, the starting lineup. I don't know. I think it's something wrong with Reggie because like well, he does have a growing injury. So to people talking about Reggie and what could be wrong physically, he may not be right yet, right, That's that's what I was gonna say. He doesn't look the same right now. But you know, I'm

not panicking, Adam. Like you said, this is Game four, and I've been telling all my boys with the all Laker fans, so I know I'm gonna have to hear it tomorrow, but I've been telling them, look, we got some new pieces. They aren't the ones that talk. They got their own issues. But well, listen, man, I've been telling all my boys twenty games. I think that the Clippers will hit stride around twenty. And I just bought tickets for Sunday's game against the Pelicans. Here

we go. So I'm hoping, Adams that Zion plays in that game, and I'm hoping that we're gonna have our full artillery of players on Sunday. I like that too, Greg. Thank you for the phone call from say Hi in section one eleven. Let's go to Lenny in Inglewood. Lenny, you're on Clippers stop with Adam Oslin. What's up? Lenny? First call this year? Once happening, Adam. Look, man, I've been watching basketball a long time, fifty some years. You know, get away my

age. Hey, you don't gotta give you okay, you know you're doing you're doing a bang up job with you You at him. I mean, you can car any charts. But I'll tell you, man, there's there is a sense that I don't see the urgency. Man, I don't see the urgency. Uh you know you look at with selfish how the Struggles came out this year. And I was really disappointed in their in their finals, uh performers last year because I thought I thought they were topped to bottom.

Better team than Gold the state, and uh, this year they're coming out and they're smashing everything. You could put a wheelchair team out there and sets would still have hard files. All right. They don't care. They're on a mission. They're on one accord. And I don't see it with the Clippers. Man, if I was bomber man, I mean he's been. I mean, I guess when you got that kind of you know, cash, you can be laid back or whatever. But I'd be threatening trades and

firing. I would not. Everybody got their money this year, man, everybody got upgraded, everybody got their paid and it's just I don't see it. Man. Let me let me let me just say three words. I'll let you. I'll let you get your point in. Let me let me just rebuttal a little bit here, a little back and forth. Never hurt nobody on Clippers stock. Three words, it's a contraction. Is that counters too? It's game four? It's game four. Do you remember when they

lost by fifty one to the Dallas Mavericks two years ago? No, because they went to the Western Conference Finals and did you call in that nine and you're like, oh, we gotta fire people, we gotta we gotta trade guys. Well, let I said, that's pretty point. No, no, no, no, you're right. But look, man, when the Golden State one of those years from the first game, man, it would dominate. I mean, I just haven't seen I've seen yet championship teams come

out and get smoked on ring night before. I don't know if that means that much. Yeah, they need to lock in, they need to be more focused, they need to refined or relocate that identity. But there's also kind of a fine line between trying too hard and not trying hard enough. You try too hard, you're making mistakes. You're not trying hard enough, you're making mistakes. I think a lot of it isn't about effort, it's execution. But there were some bad effort place tonight don't get me wrong,

there were some bad, just careless turnovers. Linney, all right, I am what you're saying. Adam. I am what you're saying. And I hope they turned around, man. But if they don't get this thing, you know, straightened out in the next so I would say, by the time they hit ten eleven games, it's fool's goal and that's I'm gonna leave it at that. But right now, all right, I'll be waiting for your call if that happens later. I appreciate you, man. Good to

hear from you. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number, Rick in Long Beach. You're on Clippers stop without aim astin. Hi, Rick, thank you for having me on. Look, I kind of chime in with the rest of the callers. It's not about execution, is great. This is the fact that they're not coming out angry. They're not coming out what would it look like if they came out angry. They're not coming out with an attitude. Look, you got John Moland.

You have John Moran sitting up here, and everybody knows what this kid is and what he's doing. You got game Leonard. The other day and when Dame Leonard is hot, you know what he's about. The Clippers need the Clippers need to come out with an attitude. They need to dominate, and they need to set a tone we don't have. Rick, Let me let

me ask you this. Let me ask you this because Bobby Night once had a famous press conference where he didn't swear, but they asked him about game face and attitude and he started making all these faces because he was mocking the question, because what does that mean? What does it look like to play angry? What are you looking for? Does someone have to be read in the face for you to accept it? Or is it just a maker?

Miss league? And if they're making shots, you have to be like Gray Raymond is an enforcer and he goes after and he sets the tone for his team. And you know what you're gonna give when you play the Warriors? Well, hold on, hold on, Rick, I hear your point. Okay, see shot thirty eight percent from the field to night they went four of thirty from three. It was offense? Was their offense? Really? The problem? Was the Clippers defense that bad? Because they held a team

under forty percent. Now, granted they didn't crash the boards. Well enough, I've give you the doing this thing. They're they're doing the same thing that they did last year. And that that that that game you're talking about where Dallas jumped on him and stuff. I remember that game, and I think Ty took all those main players and took them out the team and put

the second guys in there. I think I remember that game the next game after that, because he's trying to tell them somebody needs to put a foot up there behind and tell them, look, this guy is building a multi billion dollars stadium for you guys, and you guys have to play up to what we expect from you guys, and you're not doing it. And it's time for you guys to set the tongue. If you got other players out here, you got these young guys out here, and they don't get a

dog gone about all the history about all the other payers. Are you a mind reader? Do you know what they care about and what they don't yees, yeah, I've been around a long time, dude, I've been around a long time. You can read minds with players and their temperament. The Celtics are coming out hot. They have an attitude. They seeing what happened

to them last year. And they're coming out and they want to win, and the Clippers know that everybody's looking for expectations, they're looking for and I don't know what's wrong with these other players, and Wine end up playing and said, I know that they're trying to treat treat uh Kawhi like a glass, you know, and let the guy play. Let's see how he plays, and then if he's not playing well, then take him out. Rick,

What if it's not that he's not playing well. What if it's he exacerbates an injury because he's coming off in acl tear that so you want to risk it in game four of the regular season. That would be my point, Rick. I appreciate the phone call call back on Thursday. I hope your call when they win too, whether it's Thursday or in the near future. I just look. If coach Lou says it, they need to come

out and be more aggressive. Yeah, I agree with it. I'm not saying you're totally wrong, but to say the guys don't care, sometimes you care too much and that's what leads to turnovers and too many unselfish plays. That was part of their criticism coming out of Sunday's game. The Clippers were overpassing. Guys need to take their shots too. They're turning down great shots and passing into good or lesser shots, and right now the offense it's just

a mess. You could say that because of all the turnovers, they don't look right. I agree with you. There. We'll take a quick time out. We'll get to more of your phone calls. Eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. I don't get the logic though, of when I say you want to test Kawai's knee in game four, when he said there was stiffness earlier today at shoot around, Really because this game's gonna define the season, I don't think

so, because he's only played in two regular season games. Since you can't replicate that in practice in preseason, nothing's the same as the regular season. I'm gonna handle it with kid gloves right now and hope that he's just fine. And Coach Lou said that he's not concerned about it. We'll see. We're still looking for that audio. Get back to your phone calls, and Chef Mackler will join me next here on Clippers Talk, who have five seventy

sports. Yeah a Milligan, hear a Milligan? There Sicilian hair, every gar wing to run it. You're listening to La Clippers basketball. Clipper puts it down plus the foul every game all season long on their official home. Last time that I was fine, chains on my neck. It was no smut on my BRep. Last time that I send the set and the set quartermail, no sweatst time. I'm the Street's voice out West. Let's day sell make progress. Time you get the money in respect and the bowing.

Come next time Clippers lose in OKAC. Last time I checked, it was just game four, one oh eight to ninety four in game one of this two game mini series. They'll run it back Thursday. This is Clipper's talk. I'm outa Oslin. You know, fans are passionate about this team. They voiced their displeasure tonight some of them. Others still see the positives and are optimistic and have taken my point that it's only game four and the fifty

one point lost a couple of years ago didn't amount to much. They were making the Western Conference Finals with the out Kawhi Leonards somehow joining us though right now is the other half. They're the other third of the Eclipse and Dip pod. We had William Updike on post game the last couple of nights. Tonight it's Chuck Mockler, Charles Mockler from Clips and Dip, formerly of Lockdown Clippers. Chuck, what's good? Some things are good right now? I

think I can constantly say that there's some good things right now. I'm trying to remind myself that is the fourth game, but the vibes seem less than a maculate. I would say, Okay, tell me your biggest concern after Game four and they're lost by fourteen to the Okase Thunder. What is it right now? It feels like a tie between backup center and the fact that Kauai. You know, he played the short and kind of preseason. It's

coming off the bench with the minutes restriction. That's all good, but that still seems like too much right now for him physically, which I think is probably my biggest concern, and that's fair. I brought that up in the first segment that my biggest concer on his outside of this game, because the Clippers future success is all married to Kawhi Leonard and that right knee coming off

the ACL injury. So my point is, and there was a color last segment saying, we'll give it a shot and see how he feels when he's out there. To me, if he felt anything and shoot around, I'm not playing him in game four. There's no reason to do that. To press things at all this early in the season. It doesn't make sense. Yeah, that's and the report seemed like the team held him out, so it seemed like he wanted to play, and Law Murray was tweeting about it,

the great athletic writer for the Clippers. Obviously, any athlete wants to play every time. I'm you know, if he would have gone out there and things would have not gone well, the backlash compared to him not playing would be infinitely worse for this team. And you're right, it is. It's the long game. You know. We need him down the stretch. If we keep dropping some games like this, we're gonna need him a little bit before the stretch to make sure we're not five or six seat or something

like that. But you gotta be careful with the best player on the team. I don't think that's too crazy. I hope people can kind of understand that now, the guy who I think should be the best player right now hasn't played like it. And this is a little bit strange to me, especially on a nightlight tonight, where I saw a little bit of progress, some glimpses, some good flashes of play on Sunday against the Phoenix Suns where he was more efficient and went to the basket. But I'm talking about Norman

Powell. The funk he's been in has been just unreal. I'm not gonna go mons Stars took his basketball powers or anything like that. That's not the case. He can snap out of this in an instant. But he went oh five from three tonight. He airballed won. I think it's just a lot of confidence right now early in the season, somewhat like we saw with Reggie Jackson to start off last year before Brandon Boston gave him that pep talk about romance in the rim and the basket. You remember that. Yes,

I think Norm meads that right now. He has more turnovers than made threes by quite a bit. He's made one three point and he's had quite a few turnovers. So I don't know what's going on with Norm. I think

we saw kind of glimpses or maybe shades us in the preseason. There's the games where he was just chucking up shots and he talked about before the season kind of wanting to be an All Star and things like that, And I mean, this rotation is very deep, and I think that plays into how some guys are gonna play, Like Terence Man isn't getting any minutes even with Kauai, you know out and things like that, Like he gets the twenty

five, but other than that, he's not getting any playing time. So I'm wondering if Norm's kind of feeling that pressure at all to prove that he belongs, which I don't think he has to do. We all know that he's very good and is probably the third best player on this team. But he's just forcing things right now. And you can tell if you look at his box score or if you prefer the eye test. Yeah, I think that's a good point that maybe multiple guys are feeling the pressure because there's only

so many minutes out there. It's like that game Hungry Hungry Hippos with those marbles, and you gotta make good returns early in the season. So you're awarded minutes and solid rotation minutes by the coaching staff, and maybe that's what it is. The competition has been so fierce between all these guys that they're overthinking things a little bit that it is in their head, just a little bit. Reggie hasn't looked great yet either, and he has the growing issue

going on. Terrence Mann hasn't looked great yet. He's played limited minutes at times. He's played under ten minutes in two games so far. So a lot of guys are dealing with this, and I'm trying to put a finger on why so many are out of sync and out of sort at the same time. And maybe that's it, Maybe that's all it is. But I think they're going to figure this out, and it could come as soon as

Thursday. Somebody who has played really well and actually got teed up. And I saw your tweet clips and dip earlier, Charles, that was pretty funny with Luke Nnard, seeing him mouth off like that to what extent we don't know, but seeing him that irked and angry, and I think it stems back from what happened Sunday with a couple of offensive fouls that went against him. He was just frustrated with officiating overall. But he's played well on both

sides of the basketball. You could say, yeah, Luca Nard has been I mean, to start this season, it feels like it's between him and maybe Zoo as our best players. He's been great on the defensive end for what he's supposed to do. He's shooting at an unbelievable clip, well believable clip if you watched him play basketball, but no, we've also seen he's been in the short role quite a bit for the Clippers when he's been on the court, which is really fun to see. We know he can obviously

from distance. When he gets those turnaround jumpers out of the short role kind of at the free throw line, you're like, okay, yeah, I mean I'm not mad at him. Take that if it's open and things like that. So Luke is doing all he can right now and the Clippers very

much needed and I think it's something to kind of look forward to. I know a lot of Clippers fans, myself included, are a bit downside for this loss, but seeing what we've seen with how Ties figured out even more to kind of unlock Luke's gravity and usefulness on the court should give us something to be excited about when everyone's healthy again, which I don't know. It might be Sunday, might be the day after, I'm not really sure.

John Wall has also brought a lot of excitement, explosive play, and if you're not Joseph, you're loving it. But john Wall played twenty minutes, had twelve points for assists. Inside joke, oh Man, that don't work. John Wallas looked great and I don't know where their offense would be without him. He's been their third best player, at least on offense. I get you could say I Viza zubots has been the third best player overall in

these four games since john Wall has missed one two. But john Wall has looked every bit of what he was in those forty games from the Rockets and then some going back to his Wizards years. It just feels like, you know, he's kind of refinding who he's been as a layer and doing exactly what the Clippers need from him. Yeah, I mean, he's he's getting in the line. He went three for four verse the thunder, which is

actually pretty good considering how poorly he's been shooting from the line. If it weren't for the turnovers, this would have been a phenomenal John Wall game.

And I think he's been off for quite a bit and so I think these are just kind of some growing pains are gonna get He's also thrown into a scenario where I don't think John Wall assumed that he would be playing in games, you know, right off to start the season, without Kawhi dg or Kawai coming off the bench, you know, with John Wall right now. But there's a serious case to be made if Reggie is hurt, which Tyler

says he is. He's not on the injury report, but he has a nagging, growing injury, that Wall might need to be the starting point guard until we can get things figured out, whatever the Clippers version of things being figured out is. But I think there's a legitimate, a legitimate case to be made, even even more so after these first couple of games, that John Walls should get a nod for the starting spot. Another positive, a

guy who's not losing his starting spot off eats a Zoobots mentioned him. But he's been so consistent, but even better in some areas, and maybe it's just more opportunities because it even feels like, or it's looked like even when they are healthy, relatively healthy, with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard out there on the court, Zoobots is getting involved more offensively and that's a really good sign for this team because the Shack once said, you know, if you

want the dog to protect the house, you got to feed him. And he had seven blocks his career high tonight. Yeah, he's averaging I think something like three or four per game. You have five last games than one but the King, So shout out to Zoo for kind of doing what he's always done for the Clipper's team, which is just be kind of a rock of consistency overall. He did drop a pass tonight, which is frustrating. You know that just something going to happen with Zoobaka, I guess. But

he's grabbing boards. He was the only guy in double digits for boards in this game against the Thunder And yeah, we saw last year when you lean on Zoo to kind of start the game, it gets there into a rhythm. He's a good finisher around the rim usually, but yeah, man, it's it's it's just kind of I'm looking at the box score right now, and it's just like it's just kind of tough to see, you know.

I don't want to say this was wasted. Well it was because we lost the thunder, but it was a great Zoo game aside from the random three point attempt towards the end of the first I think that was but no credit to Zoo. Again, he's one of its, not the longest tenured clippers, so he very much knows assistant and is familiar and it's nice to be Tylie leaning on him a bit. And we're going to see that a whole

lot more again, depending on certain people's playing time. The Visa Zoo bots again ten and fourteen and thirty five minutes, so if there were any changes made for Thirdsday Night's contest, when they run it right back against okayc and can completely redeem themselves and you almost want to see this team again after a performance like tonight, you want to cleanse the palette, get this bad taste out of your mouth. Do you think it's possible. Brandon Boston came in

and immediately went three for three. I thought there was a chance he'd come in earlier just to provide some scoring punch. We talked about him a lot this offseason on clips and Dip and when he could be called upon, and right now, with so many guys out, it could happen. But who do you think just soaks up a few more minutes? Maybe Thursday? Man, I mean, so you mentioned how many shots he got up. Brandon Boston went three for four in two and a half minutes tonight versus the Thunder.

The Clippers had eighty three field goal attempts to the Thunders one hund ten. On the year so far, we are dead lasting field goal attempts at eighty one. If someone's going to come in and you need to take shots, Brandon Boston Junior is the first person a lot of Clippers fans. I guess you maybe take some minutes from Terrence man because but Tom seems to be a bit on some kind of minutes diction. He played eighteen tonight, Covington

played twenty. He was great ten four and two, three blocks also, but again only twenty minutes. So I guess I'm looking at Terrence to give a couple of minutes maybe to Brandon Boston Junior. Fat were to happen, I don't know, Yeah, Coach Lew has some decisions to make obviously, just looking for that energy and just looking for a little bit of a scoring punch and that spark. They haven't found it yet. Things just haven't clicked

in offensively. I really feel like if Norn Powell could get it going, other guys would fall into place with their shooting and you'd see a very different performance Thursday. He is Chuck Mockler of Clips and Dip fame, along with myself and William Updyke. Chuck, thanks for doing this. We'll post this on Clips and Dip do a little bit of a crossover here today. What do we call it? Clips and double dip? Absolutely, it's the clips

and double dipp. It's great, all right, my friend. Well, maybe we'll do it again Thursday, speaking of the double dip, but hopefully a different result for the Clippers. Then, Yes, one hundred percent would love to talk about a Clippers one on here coming up next here on Clippers Talk. We'll get back to your phone calls eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy. Oh. I know someone on hold who's bringing some positivity next and I got some quotes from coach Lou. I can this for you

let's fine too, Everything's perfectly fine. We're all right here. How are you more? Clipper stock next on AMPI seventy l a sports beauty, but don't make it look easy. Don't make it look good. He got it. Count it from distance the odds on favorite to hoist the Larry o'bright heavily

can test it and it doesn't matter. On the Home of Your LA Clippers min a plot like booting, Everybody's like, I'm there mounting in welcome back in the Clippers stock on then I'm oslins here on AM five seventy LA Sports. After the Clippers lose by fourteen in Oklahoma City to the Thunder, they take them on again on Thursday. It's a two game mini series. These started last season. Get used to them, and it will be a good test for the Clippers to see how they respond after a loss like this.

We'll get to your phone calls in just a moment, but I do want to read a couple of quotes from Tomara Zarli, who pulled them from head coach Ron Loup post game. He was talking about boxing out and rebounding in turnovers. Quote, you don't mind the turnovers where we're being aggressive, but we just can't have the casual turnovers and the non thinking turnovers. We gotta

be better with that. On Reggie Jackson and the groin injury, coach Lew said, quote, I think more than he's leading on, but Reggie wants to play. I didn't fault his effort how he's trying to play. He struggled shooting the basketball, but I thought he tried to do the right thing. And then overall, to sum up the loss, he said quote, I didn't fault our effort. I thought we did some good things, but

we just got to continue to keep getting better. When you're shorthanded like that, the small things mean a lot when you're missing Kawai, PG and Marcus and all the small things line up. Don't play Katie, don't you dare play it? I like some Lakeaway two, but not that song. All right, let's go to Tags and Walnut Tags. You're on Clippers, stop with him? Awesome? Heyah. Regarding Kawai's fifness is me, I'm not

concerned. I tore my aspl playing ball, and once I came back, I did get fiffness, and sometimes he gets some ten to night is and I think as he gets more games under his belt to me, because Lukeaman have to get reacclimated to all the twists and the falls, which you can't replicate rehab. So I get the precautionary things that they're doing and holding him out, so there's nothing to worry about it. He'll be fine, all right, nice adotal evidence there to you. Just anything else on the game

tonight? Yeah, offensively the last few games. What's happening? And they're getting to this hole. They're taking a long time to get in their sets, and when they get in their sets, it seems like they're passing the ball and the ball is just getting passed around at the three point line, and they're not making a lot of progress, like getting the ball closer to

the basket. And then when they do the kind of just driving it in and into traffic, and either they're throwing up a contested layup or they're trying to addition to zoo buck and the ball is getting knocked away or stolen. And I think they would be better service sometimes just to take the pace of quiet book and just take the little mitterring jumper eight or ten foot or the

easy shot and kind of build a rhythm especially for Norman Powell. He thinks something he's stressing me a little bit too much because y'all know how good he is, but kind of making a little easier on themselves. Don't keep forcing it and just remember what Tylu always says. He says, paint first and spray, so get inside and then get the wide open threes, but not

the contested threes, and just get those easy mittering shots. Yeah, he also says get to the paint or die try And I appreciate the phone call stressing the importance of that philosophy. Tyler did say this about Norman Powell, thought he tried to do the right things. Quote, it's part of the game. He works too hard, push too much work in not to be able to come out of shooting slumps. He'll be okay. And that's the

truth. And I'm not going to put it all on him or say as Norman Powell goes, the Clippers go, But I do think it's important for him to get it going because the caliber player he is, and he's just unexpectedly in a four game slump. But he's got to keep firing. He's got to think the next one is going in Kobe said before. You know, I'd rather go two of twenty five than three of ten or something in a row of ten, because that means I stopped shooting with the guys that

are out right now. We don't know the status of PG Marcus. We know Kawhai is not going to be there Thursday, but Norman Powell has to put up shots, regardless of how long it takes for him to get out of this funk. I don't know if ten shots is enough tonight, if Reggie Jackson can put up seventeen with the growing injury going on, I'd love to see Norman Powell get to fifteen at least. But I think it's a confidence thing right now. Understandably, you're in a scoring slump, you're in

a shooting slump, and that's what you bring to this team. But when you're talking about getting to the basket, that's Norman Powell and he's missing layups that will be rectified. Morrison long Beach, you're on Clippers talk without Amslin, I don't. I'm gonna show you to tell you what I've seen the

Clippers now. They're looking for their identity. Now. Back in the day, the Clippers were defensive teams scrappers, good defense, good energy on defense, lights out, three point shooting, and that's the kind of team we have. But this year seems like the three point shots escaped us and they're having a difficult time trying to find their rhythm. But I think, Adam,

another thing is they're under a lot of pressure. You know, we're getting a lot of press reports that the Clippers is supposed to win it whatnot. But this is also a good opportunity to show that depth right now. I know we lost three of our studs, but we got depth and we should, you know, this opportunity to show it. But I think the guys are trying to figure out their roles, get their identities together, and

it's gonna take a while. These other teams, you know, I've been together for a while, although Indiana's they're pretty good with a new bunch. But I'm not worried right now because something you said. I'm gonna hang my hat on this. Nobody's ever won an NBA championship at the four. Okay, out of all right, Morris, I appreciate it. Yeah, I think when so much is uncertain and rolls aren't yet fully defined, with some of the new players and guys fighting for minutes. That's what you're looking at

with them being out of rhythm and out of sink. If it was the midway point of the season, I think more guys would know what is expected of them and it would be an easier transition without your main guys right now. But they're trying to figure it out a little bit on the fly. Build a plane while they're flying. That's stupid cliche. Clippers lives one oh eight to ninety four in ok C to the Thunder. They will run it back and do it all over again Thursday. Tip time for that one is

at five pm. We'll have Clippers countdown for you starting at four before we get out of here. I do want to thank the Clippers organization, Noah Eagle, Brian Seamen, Row Flawler, big Brother, Jake Warner, back here in the bank, Katie Newton, our producer, the callers, the listeners. It's okay, disagree. We all want the same thing from the squad. I believe they'll get there. I'm not gonna say trust the process. I'm not gonna do it, but it just may take more time than

you know. Four games Church until Thursday, from OKAC. I'm out of Moslin. I'll talk to you then. This has been Clippers Talk, a postgame conversation about your LA Clippers with Adam Oslim.
