The Clippers were down sixteen in the first quarter in the Wolves Den in Minnesota.
They come back to win eighty nine to eighty eight through defense and clutch shots from Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell. Welcome into your postgame show. I'm Adam Oslin. Coming up, we will have clipperstock on AM five to seventy LA Sports if you want to get on early eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six nine seven two five seventy. But first let's pause
ten seconds for station identification. Here on Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network, this is Clippers Basketball AM five to seventy KLAC Los Angeles ninety eight seven KYSR HD two Los Angeles and iHeartRadio Station. Let's get back out to your radio voice of the Clippers in Carlo Jimenez from Target centser, what a gritty, gutty victory, maybe their best win of the season, considering they only scored eighty nine points, their defense flexed, and they were able to take down a
team that was two to zero against them. Carlo, I mean, just gutsy stuff from the Clippers to come back to never be phased. Norman powerly got it going for them, nine for thirteen within twenty four points. They held Minnesota for eight for twenty two in the fourth quarter and Adam, they scored their season low and a one upball game. You want to talk about
doing it on the defensive end. James Harden zero for ten in this one, but his tenn assists were massive down the stretch and the Clippers got it done. I thought it was really interesting what Norman or excuse me, what Terrence Man said on our postgame interview. The Clippers took this personally. They did. They heard and saw the tweets they talked about the tim Wolves calling
him old and washed, and they took that to heart. I think that means a lot, because we've seen this team when things are said outside of the lines about their themselves. And some trash dock goes back and forth and Adam that seems to poke the bear, and it is usually not fun for the opponent. No, it's not. I just love the fact that the Clippers were able to win this in an unorthodox fashion, a team with the
Hall of Famers and the Big Three, even without Russell Westbrook. Right now, James Harden doesn't make a shot oh of ten from the field, oh of six from distance, but that and one play he created out of the ato from coach lou to Kawhi Leonard another assist from James Harden. There he had ten assists to just one turnover. Paul George just five of sixteen, two big buckets in the fourth quarter, and spectacular defense on his best friend
in Karl Anthony Towns, who at one point missed ten straight shots. It was so so good. Towns looked like he was going for a career day. It was five for five to start the game. The Clippers couldn't find an answer. At twelve points in the first quarter, he had six the next three quarters combined. Clippers did a great job stopping them. Edwards has It's had his moments, but I think they made it tough. I mean nine for twenty to get to twenty seven points, and they gave up twelve
offensive rebounds but held it to thirteen second chance points. The Clippers had fourteen second chance points on their seven timely offensive rebounds. It was a big time win for the Clippers at him who let's give him a lot of credit. In the second half, they did not turn the battle over a lot finished with just nine We talked about how important that was. You have mentioned how they've been averaging fifteen turnovers since the Grammy road trip. This is the Clipper
offense we're used to when it comes to not turning the ball over. Now, I think it's time to talk about the King of the Fourth Norman Pale stepping up into a ball game where he had fourteen points in less than the first ten minutes. He was out there in the first half and just completely changed the complexion of the game. It looked like the Clippers might lose this one by thirty. Instead, all of a sudden, they had a four point lead at the half. A lot of that was due to Norman Powell.
I mean, he had half the team's points after the first quarter. His offensive shooting was unbelievable. Think about the three Adam to bank it at the end of the third A three pointer of that counts and the Clippers only win by one. Every single shot was so big for Norman pal the windmill dunk. He was feeling himself. Look, if the Clippers take on this Minnesota team in the playoffs, you've got to imagine they're gonna get a hand up to Norman Pale, because Norman Pal now has his season high. Both
times the Clippers have been to the Target Center. Something about this building. I don't know if the sight lines, I don't know if it's the crowd, I don't know if it's the food. But he loves shooting here in Minnesota. Norman pal twenty four savage as they like to call him, the King of the as we like to call him. Coach Lou stayed with Daniel Tys late. He wanted that spacing on offense. And while Tys didn't knock down a three pointer, just the threat of having him out there meant something.
And by the way, Rudy Gobert had a rebound go through his hands late with three Clippers surrounding him. They were doing it by committee. They ended up yes, getting out rebounded fifty four to forty, but when you only have nine turnovers in the ball game, as they did, that can make up for that. And I thought daniel Tys more than held his own with his thirteen boards. Yeah, I thought he was great and this one some big time offensive rebounds hanging onto the basketball. Yeah, he didn't shoot
a three, but again we talked about it with Tyler lou. His ability to make threes forces go Bear to be out on the perimeter and neutralizes his shot blocking ability if you can dump it into the post. Clippers, once again, I mean daniel Ty's part of that group. Three turnovers in the second half. That seemed to be the difference because Minnesota had thirteen points off those nine turnovers. But if you're you're not going to throw it away,
then you don't give an opportunity to score running the other way. It's two teams that don't run up and down the floor, that rely on their defensive end and rely on their superstars. And this felt like a playoff battle in a playoff type atmosphere was a full building on this Sunday afternoon, and the Clippers, with James Harden having an off night, of offensively still get it done. An impressive win. Doesn't get any easier than Milwaukee. Tomorrow,
the Clippers will be in Milwaukee taking on the books. As Carlo just mentioned, tip time at five against the Milwaukee Bucks. Clippers pregame show Clippers countdowns starting right back here at four, Carlo, hell of a call, safe travels to Milwaukee. We'll talk to you tomorrow. My friend can't wait to talk to you tomorrow. seventy is the phone number. Let's get to your second half highlights. Clippers were down sixteen to the first quarter. Norman Palell completely turned the game around. The trajectory of this one. It looked like it was going to be an early blowout and the Clippers will be resting bodies for Milwaukee tomorrow. Instead,
Norm had fourteen points in the first ten minutes. He was out there on the court, and the Clippers led at the half forty nine to forty six, a three point lead in that third quarter after having fifteen in the first half. The claw Kawhi Leonard kept it going in the third. George and the baseline barges on Edwards spins, fires a pass to Leonard at the top pump fakes a three, turns the corner in and out cross fades. A right wing mid range jay is up and in for Kawhi, and a
fan in a black Kawhi jersey stands and claps hands. Here in Minnesota looking for a win on this front end of the bank to bank. Guess who's waiting just Milwaukee tomorrow night. Leonard Sigson tags in the paint and lays it up with the right hand for two. Clippers five for seven in the or excuse me, two for nine here in the quarter. Kawhi Leonard had half
of their points in the third quarter. They only scored eighteen. He had nine of them, but Minnesota only had twenty two and three of those points from the Clippers in the period they came at the very end of the shot clock. It was Norman Powell knocking down a three pointer. This is what he does. The King of the fourth n kept it going. In the final period, Edward's left elbow into the paint among the blue Jerseys, throws a past the no man's land, Normous Steele, No one's in front.
He's gonna win mil it in Norman Powell with some elevation sensation. He ties his season high with twenty four. Norman pal had seven points in that fourth quarter. Kawhi Leonard, though, would come up with this huge bucket out of a time out late, right elbow extended, holds it over his head, looks for a friend in blue back to Hearten at the top back door Leonard goes up and the foul Leonard the hoop in the harm and the claw let chance for one more let, chance for thirty. Kawhi Leonard would get
the and one. He would add eight of his thirty two points in the fourth quarter, including some clutch free throws late to put the Clippers up by three. They hold on and win eighty nine to eighty eight in Minnesota over the Timberwolves. Coming up next to your final box score right here on the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network, they want to bring a banner with them to the into a doll more. to seventy the phone number. The Clippers just won a back basketball game where they shot thirty eight percent from the field. The t Wolves weren't much better, though they were at thirty nine percent. The Clippers just ten of thirty four from the outside, the t Wolves just nine of thirty three. Paul George and James Harden combined to go just five of twenty six from the field. James Harden didn't make a shot PG thirteen was just five of sixteen.
They still found a way. Kawhi Leonard had thirty two fifteen in the first half, seventeen in the second half, eight in the fourth quarter. A huge an one in free throws late, twelve of twenty six shooting for him, and it was Norman pal off the bench, the spark the spark plug that ignited a run, a sixteen to zero run in the second quarter. He finishes with twenty four points, had seven of them in the fourth quarter,
a huge three, a steal and windmill throwdown. He went nine to thirteen from the field, and in a game where the Clippers couldn't hit anything from the outside outside of Norman Powell at least, he was six of eight from three. Unbelievable, somehow, some way, and they give up just two points in the fourth quarter total to Anthony Edwards that basically were inconsequential window dressing. Clippers win eighty nine to eighty eight over Ant and the Tea Wolves.
Their next game, they're in Milwaukee. Take it on Giannison, Denn Koopo and Milwaukee Bucks and new head coach Doc Rivers former Clippers head coach tomorrow at five. saying that old age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance. I want to hold on to that one. Anthony Edwards as the old legs of the Clippers beat up on his Timberwolves eighty nine to eighty eight after they were down by sixteen in the first quarter. Welcome in a Clippers Talk. the head coach. Also William Updyke will join me from Clips in Dip. What a comeback and it was one. You're down sixteen points, on the brink of being knocked out in the first quarter, in a place, in a team you were zero and two against, in the Minnesota Timberwolves, the best team in the West. We'll update you on the Western Conference standings coming up. The Clippers looked like they had nothing. They were d a to start this game. Outside of I think a couple of buckets from Kawhi Leonard,
nobody else could hit. It was brutal. I thought we were heading for a blowout where Coach Lou was gonna have to wave the white flag early and get this team ready for Milwaukee tomorrow. But it was early enough to say some of that hashtag comeback clips magic could still be in effect. Sure, they were down sixteen to two after a Jade McDaniel stunk, but Kawhi Leonard answered with a three pointer. He was ready to go. He was one of the few in this game that was ready. From the outset the
other guy, Norman Powell. The Clippers are down twenty two to seven with five minutes left in the third quarter. He gets into the ballgame for Terrace man and immediately knocks down back to back three pointers. The Clippers go from being down by sixteen early to having a game within reach. You're down twelve entering the second and then they go on a sixteen to all run and norn Fous started the second quarter off with a three pointer, Daniel Tice a putback
to Paul George finally got one to go. It was a three, got a couple of them, Norm Powell a little floater, and all of a sudden, after being down sixteen in the span of about seven minutes, the Clippers were up thirty one to thirty. Unbelievable, right back into the ballgame. And it wasn't just Norm Powell and it wasn't just to make shots. It was the defense they played. The Minnesota Timberwolves did not score till the seven to forty six mark of the second quarter. In that period, the
Clippers held them almost five minutes scoreless. They accepted the challenge, Oh, shots aren't falling. I guess we have to find another way to win. We'll win through our defense. In this one, they score season low eighty nine points and still win the ballgame against the Minnesota Timberwolves as good as they are defense nsively Minnesota number one defense, and it's really not that close, and they've been in that position all season long with the defensive rating just seventeenth.
Offensively, you can slow them down. When the Clippers are able to set their defense and they're not turning the basketball over, they can be a lead on that end. Their weakness is transition defense. But when you only have nine turnovers total, you can win any ball game. The Timberwolves had fifteen. The Clippers scored twenty points off those fifteen turnovers, tremendous. The Clippers ended up getting beat up in the paint forty four to thirty six,
getting beat up on the boards fifty four to forty. The Wolves had twelve offensive rebounds to the Clippers having seven. The Wolves even shot a slightly better percentage than the Clippers thirty nine percent to thirty eight percent for the Clippers. Clippers may one more three pointer ten of thirty four Wolves were nine of thirty three, and the Clippers hit some clutch free throws late, Kawhi Leonard with two big ones after he had missed one earlier in the fourth quarter after he
just missed a shot over. Mike Conley had the mismatch probably made it tougher than needed to be double clutch it. But Rudy Gobert, who the Clippers were going somewhat small against, you could say because instead of beats a Zubats who did struggle, felt like he should have gotten the basketball more. Daniel Tice played twenty nine minutes, just four points, zero four from the outside,
two of seven from the field, whatevs. He had thirteen boards, four offensive rebounds and challenged Rudy Gobert, who missed an offensive rebound late in the ballgame that was crucial that ended up going off Minnesota. As good as he is the Stifel Tower that was one he was kicking himself about late. Still had twelve and sixteen, but the Clippers, they tried to test him.
Kawhi let him got into the paint. No Moan Powell, but in a game where Paul George was just five of sixteen, now three of his makes were from the outside, and he hit some big ones in the fourth quarter early on. But James Harden goes zh of ten and the Clippers still scratching claw with a k their way to a victory. Unreal and don't get
it twisted. James Harden had ten assists to one turnover, and the assist to Kawhi on the n one out of the time out a great ato by coach Lou That really was the go ahead, biggest bucket of the ball game. So he took care of the basketball. He couldn't get anything to go. He had some good looks, a miss three pointer on the left wing late in the fourth quarter, wide open. Paul George was missing some white open It wasn't just that Minnesota was playing elite defense, which they do.
Clippers couldn't hit open shots when they presented themselves. But Kawhi is that good. He leads them with thirty two Norman pal what else can you say? King of the fourth, twenty four savage twenty four points in this one, six of eight from three. The rest of the team goes four to fifteen from three. I don't know, four of nineteen from three. Norman Powell goes six of eight. That's the difference in the game. No Norman Powell, no victory. Hope he's okay. Might have hurt himself in that windmill
dunk. Really hope he's okay. After that he was grimacing. But the steal and score in the fourth quarter and throwing it down emphatically like that. Oh loved seeing it. In Milwaukee. Tomorrow is the front end of one of the toughest back to backs you'll see on any team schedule this season.
They'll be taking on Janis and Denikoopo and the Bucks tomorrow after they get a victory against a team they were zero and to against, got b by twenty one last time out at home against and a team that just lost in ot to the Sacramento Kings. But there was a stat out there. Carlojmenez had it, and it's that the Clippers are now after this one, improving to
fifteen and four during clutch time since December first. A game in the last five minutes within five points, last five minutes within last within five points. The Clippers are fifteen to four since December first. The Wolves are now four and eleven since the start of the new year, and they couldn't get much to go and find their offense when they needed to, The Clippers showed up
in crunch time. They have the best clutch rating this season, but got to give it up to Kawhi Leonard late Norman Powell Daniel Tice contesting everything at the rim doesn't matter if he has at a disadvantage. If there's a guy who has I don't know, eight inches on him and Rudy Gobert, Daniel ties to six to eight and he's playing small ball five. But just heart of a line love him. He got the minutes. No Mason Plumbley in this game, and the thought from coach Lou was, We're gonna use him
to help spread the floor. On offense. He's at least a threat out there from three. He may have been over four, but Rudy Gobert had to respect him because he came into this one shooting forty percent from the outside from distance. So you're giving up something defensively, you could say. But on offense, the floor was more spread. Clippers come through, they win eighty nine to eighty eight. Let's start things off in Alabama. It's Michael, I believe on the line roll Clippers. Is it Michael, Yes,
it's Michael and Roll Clippers. That's where I know war Eagle or anything else. Michael, you're calling in. I believe this is the first time we've had you here on Clippers. Talk. How you doing. I'm good. I've been a longtime listener follower on Twitter, so thanks for having me on this first time, long time listener, first time caller, Michael, What do you want to say after this victory? So I've been watching this team. I became a Clippers fan since I want to say, Summer fifteen during
the Lop City air. This is the best I've felt about clutch time because I know we've seen some terrible clutch time performances in the most recently too with this team, and just overcoming these obstacles has been such a problem with different stuff, Paul George playing terribly offensively, James Harden not scoring a single field goal, but overcoming this makes me feel a lot better about our chances just
to contend overall. So I'm happy with this win. I'm happy we got to just dethrone like Anthony Edwards after that last game, him embarrassing us on social media. So I'm happy for that. Yeah. Happy. He called this Clippers team old, but uh, I don't know. They looked fresher than him. He only had two points in that fourth quarter and it was a dunk at the very end that the Clippers conceded because they were trying to
stop a three pointer. Interesting strategy there late for Minnesota. I also thought the Clippers could have intentionally fouled late to not even get up a three ball or not let the Minnesota Timberwolves take one. But all's well, that ends well, and the Clippers are now two and ohero in March seventeen games in March. It's their own version of March Madness. They start off two and oh. They got a game tomorrow in Milwaukee against the Bucks. And I
do want to say this about PG thirteen before we break here. As bad as he was on offense at times, he was that good on the other end defensively, whether on Ant or on his bff Carl Anthony Towns, who at one point missed ten straight shots, believe he started five for five. Paul George is a two way player. He can still help you when he's struggling with a shot. A plus two in a game they win by one.
Coming up next, more Clippers. Talk back to your phone calls here on a mPire seven, LA Sports loading Clippers fully loaded with Clippers fans. This is LA Clippers basketball. You're listening to the LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Network. Poor appoint Minnesotaly. Two seconds here comes Dorman Pal left wings pizza, a horde of horn bason in Norman Pal circus shot to finish the quarterer s shavu. Here this hornet center. The King of the fourth
got started early. Another buzzer beater to in the third quarter. That's a huge momentum swing. You go from being down four to being down one entering the fourth. Reminded of a big three pointer made by Paul George about the eight minute mark of the fourth quarter. Soon to we were talking about him
going into the break. Our friend Tomarrizzarli, who joined me pre game on Clipper's countdown, posted that three pointer that he made over Carl Anthony Towns after bobbling it, almost losing the basketball, picked it up and put it in. Sometimes when you don't have to think about it was at the end of the shot clock, you can just be instinctual. PG thirteen struggles James Harden doesn't make a field goal and the Clippers just won in Minnesota eighty nine to
eighty eight. Welcome back in the Clipper stock. I'm Adam Oslin eight sixty six ninety seven two five seventy is the phone number, Mark and Huyington Beach. We'll get to you since we weren't able to get to you last time out. Mark, what's up? Well, this morning I woke up and I just prayed to the basketball gods and said, all I want is one point victory. That's all, just a one point victory. I'd rather have an ugly loss than I mean, an ugly wind and an exciting loss.
And that's what I got, thanks to the basketball gods. But you know, going back to the Russell Westbrook injury, I think this is a blessing in disguise because not only does it allow Bones Highland to get a lot of playtime, he can sharpen his sword and by the time Westbrook comes back, hopefully in April sometime, Bones will be in there right and ready, just in time for the playoffs, and he'll get all the experience and statistically correct
me if I'm wrong, But from the statistics I see on Bones Highland, he's basically about the same stistically as Russell Wistburg. Obviously a different style of play, but he's no slouch, no, and he's actually a much better, much much much better three point shooter and a thread out there from distance. Teams aren't going to sag off of him and make the Clippers play four on five because they don't respect his three point shooting. He has a reputation,
so I agree with you. I think you have to look for the bright side here and bones kind of blended in. He was on the court when they made that big run in the second quarter. In this game, I think he had at least one assist early to Norman Powell. He would finish playing fourteen minutes, had to assist. Was a plus eleven out there. The bench was great. Shout out a mere coffee. I know he had just one bucket. I think it was a midy, a little jumper
in the lane, one of five. His defense was spectacular. On Anthony Edwards, he was a plus ten. It wasn't just Norman Pale. Guys were doing little things out there. They have no shot in this game with out of mere coffee either, but Norm got them pointed back in the right direction after being down by sixteen in the first quarter. Mark appreciates the phone call. We'll tatch to you likely tomorrow. Uh, Javier and the hobber heights here on Clipper stop with that a maslins have here? What's up?
Hovier spiraling radio death as Petros Papadaekus would call it. Oh, I hung up on him. I thought I'd at least get the cool dials and get something out of that phone. Call Tage's and Walnut. I know he's not gonna leave me hanging Tag's what's up? Hey? What's up? At him? The Great victory is a kind of like a throwback eighties nineties games? What the all scoring? And it shows you how important defense is when your offense is struggling, but your defense can keep you in the whole games.
A good lesson, I think, Yeah, Yeah, came up the King of that poor It was awesome. Scared me a little bit on the windmil donk out like it felt like he just got it above the rim. But him and also the King of the North both carried us, you know, offensively today. That was good. I'm gonna ask you a couple questions.
One, do you think that Minnesota is a team where the mid range jumper is kind of something that we have to explore more because if we're not hitting the three in which I would have liked to see hardin MPG, Doe a little bit more of shoot the mid range because when they're not hitting that three and they're driving in, it's really tough to shoot over Gobert where that mid ranger shot might be, you know, more effective. And I think we
saw Norm Powell do those runners, so he didn't. He kind of didn't want to try right into Gobert that five or eight footer. Yeah, I get it. It's been talked about. It's been talked about. Jesus, it has been talked about plenty that they gave up the mid range, so take the mid range. Obviously, that's good for Kawhi Leonard. Look, Paul George and James Harden probably combined to attempt five or six shots that were in the mid range. They just weren't hitting. Paul George had one,
obviously, James Harden couldn't get anything to go. So it's not like they aren't aware of the scouting report on this Minnesota Timberwolves team, and somehow that's lost on the coaching staff. Tajus, do you got one more? Right? Do you? How effective do you think it's to pose Uppg and Kawhi against Minnesota? Do you think it's something that you should do more or the way didn't play was okay. I think they just have to hit their shots.
Like when Paul George's outside shots from three and he's wide open, he's got to make those. My point would be, you have to make three is look, you win in this game because you hold them under forty percent. You play great defense like that. I don't know how repeatable this is, but the good news is I don't know how repeatable it is for the Clippers offense to be that cold. Yes, they came into it in the first two games against me Minnesota, shooting just forty two and in both those
two games Paul George and James Harden struggled. I talked about it on Clipson Dip the other day. They need more from both of them. They really didn't get it for the most part, and they still found a way to win. Guys gotta be confident their shot. That's what Kawhi Leonard will always tell you. But the game slows down even more in the playoffs. This was a nice preview of that. And elbow PG. Thirteen is often where you want him to start. He makes quicker decisions there whoever has Mike Conley
on them, And this was a little bit disappointing for me. They didn't exploit that matchup enough. It's not that he's a bad defender. They's just undersized and the lesser of five evils out there on the court. He's just he's a better option than going up against McDaniels. You can get Kat a little bit here and there, but for Kawhi and PG going up against McDaniels and Edwards, go at Mike Conny, go with Mike Conley Junior. Do what you can there. Jose and Downey, you're on clipper stoft without of
Maslin. Jose, what's up? What about him? You know what a couple of callers ago saying about how Paul George had a terrible outing. He did have a bad outing offensive team, But I do agree with you. Defensively, he showed up. He was great on that end. Yeah. And then I want to say, in the last month and a half, when Tyler would play small ball, he had him playing a lot of center.
I mean, when you're gonna play small ball and he has to guard the center and he's giving up about twenty thirty forty pounds, I mean, what do you expect him to do on offense? He's gonna be dead tired. Well, he's guarding my cat, his best friend. The majority of the time he was on Cat and Anthony Edwards. That will wear you out and take your legs out offensively, I agree with you. So that's why I'm saying I can live with these games, because he's putting all the effort
on the defense, giving up bigger size on him. Most of the time, it's just the open shots. The open shots he has to make, and he had enough of those in this game where he was just off. I mean that three pointer I talked about where he fumbled the basketball and got it over the top of Carl Anthony Towns just threw it up there. He was in a shooting motion, but that was one of the tougher shots he had, and he made that one. It was crazy. Two of those
fish three pointers. Man, they were so in and then just pop out and I'm just like, oh my god, what else does he have to do? Yeah, you know, I mean, it was It was a good scheme. They obviously wanted to be quicker, gave up the size. They wanted to be quicker, They wanted to shoot more. They wanted to open up that lane for them, but they didn't take as much advantage of that lane going to the mid range. But I'm not going to go into that because you already went into that. But it was a good win.
I mean, there's no way around it. I mean, they played good defense because Minnesota out rebound out, assisted more blocks, and I think that we only had more steals, and we obviously capital they got up five more shots. I appreciate the phone call, Jose. They ended up getting up five more shots. Minnesota took one more free throw, but the Clippers hit
one more three pointer. They were ten of thirty four, Minnesota nine of thirty three, but they capitalized in transition off those turnovers by the Timberwolves. We'll get back to your phone calls quick time. Out here. Clippers win eighty nine to eighty eight, a dog fight, a wolf fight, guess some Minnesota Timberwolves and win by one. But first, will Epdyke of clips and dip fame will Uh how much wind did this win put in your sales? With the Clippers finally beating the Minnesota Timberwolves. Oh man, it
put a heck of a lot of win. But I gotta tell you, we're coming up against the pretty strong Waves just tomorrow and having to take on the It can't celebrate this one too hard, which is unfortunate because it's one of the best statement wins. Now. I know we didn't exactly dump it on them, but this is one of the best wins of the Clippers season. It is, without a doubt, especially because Minnesota was talking a lot of junk and now I'm posting Benjamin Button gifts on X talking about the Clippers
actually looking younger in this game down the stretch. Anthony Edwards only had two points in the fourth quarter, and it was a defensive indifference type of play by the Clippers giving him that dunk, while Kawhi Leonard had eight points in the fourth including that and one out of the ATO. I think that's probably the biggest shot of the game, aside from those free throws late. But great to see the Claw and the Clippers once again step up in crunch time
and clutch time. Oh absolutely. I mean I also talked Norm Powell's name min the bucket for clutch shots, the way he was ending quarters, not to mention the run that he went on there in the second. I mean, we just absolutely needed that spark. Obviously, no Russell Westbrook in this one, and Norm got us back into what seemed like a losing effort of a game, just pluggish, lethargic to start, really really tough one for this Clippers team. But thanks to Norm Powell, we were able to turn
it around. You know, I talked a little bit on the podcast about what it could possibly mean for James Harden if he got a little bit of extended burn with the starting unit instead of you know that sort of six minute subout. My hypothesis thus far is not proved correct. He did not make a shot in this one, but the Clippers were still able to overcome. And I liked over all the way that we saw some more staggering of the stars. I thought that was effective in this one. Yeah, we saw
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard being staggered a ton and PG. Thirteen. Look, he struggled, but during two of the most key runs by the Clippers, the sixteen oh run in that second quarter where I think he had two three pointers, and then the big three pointerer he hit in the fourth over Karl Anthony Towns. Some timely shots, you could say from him, along with just elite Paul George defensive player of the Year when he finished third back
in twenty nineteen type of defense on that end. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I mean that's the like, Look, I some of this was cold shooting. You know, you have both teams under forty percent from the floor, both teams under thirty percent from three, so it's a mix of both.
But I think defensively, there was a lot to like from this Clippers team in you know, a defensive performance that we haven't been seen as of late, and you know, with sort of lower minutes from a Vita Zubat and down Russ, who is you know, a pretty key player when we switched to those smaller lineups. I liked. You know, there's there's nothing
to not like about that defensive performance from the Clippers. Sure, there were some lasses here and there, there were some easy buckets given up, but overall, it's just a really really strong effort on that end of the floor. And while the store, well, while the scoring took a bit of a backseat, I mean, if you're coming out with the win, you'll take it, no doubt. I thought, you know, a Viza Zubas
obviously wasn't his game out there. You had a floater I think it was in the third quarter, but they weren't even looking for him at times, and I was kind of hoping they would because it would get him even more engaged offensively, just getting into the ball game a little bit, and it might have helped out, you know, James Harden getting easier one if they're
running the pick and roll more effectively. But you've got to give it up to Daniel Tice and coach lou for sticking with him down the stretch and at least having the illusion of spreading the floor because he's a forty three point shooter so far this season. He went oh a four in this game, but they had to honor his shot from the outside, and it worked just well enough, I guess offensively. Yeah, look, I mean, oh, I mean, it just shows you the tactician that Tylu is because it kind
of defies reason. To me, especially when Rudy Gobert is not on the floor, you think you'd like to have bit your body out there. Someone like dude can very reliably finish. You could kind of lean on him in some of those stretches, especially because shots weren't following down. He talks about Paul George at Harden and their rough sort of offensive outing, but hey,
he seems very committed to his vision of what he wanted to do. We didn't see minutes from Mason Plumbley, like we said, very limited zoom in it, but it worked. I think, you know, having one extra shooter out there on the floor. And this is not this is not a disc on roster or anything, but having one extra shooter in those lineups does make things a little bit easier from a spacing perspective. Although again we didn't
exactly light it up offensively. They didn't. They did get so many open shots, though, I'm interested to see on NBA dot Com Leader how many open threes they missed, because I felt like Paul George and James Harden must have gone like zero five on open threes, and some of that was created through that spacing. They just weren't able to capitalize on it. But I thought a mere coffee was also fabulous. Defensively, I thought Bones blended in
very nicely during that run to start the second quarter. He didn't get in the way. He took three shots. He took one on Rudy Gobert where he had a nice move on him. He couldn't get to go either, But you can see the confidence there from young Bones Highland. But Terrence Man
good defense with the starters two of three with six points. I just got to think that this Clippers team has to gain a lot of confidence coming out of a victory against a team that really I'm sure, the Minnesota Timberwols are gonna say they had no business losing that game. But the Clippers defense, it just shows what they're capable of on that end when they lock in, oh yeah, one hundred percent. And you know, speaking of man and
coffee, like their defense is gonna come in very clutch again. They're gonna be leaned on heavily second night of a back to back. You know, they're the youngest, some of the youngest guys on the team, so they're gonna be expected to carry a heavy load again on Bone. Look, I know, if you're looking at the box score, it didn't really jump. It's not gonna burn your eyes out or anything. But like, really, all Bones have to do is be able to help that team tread water,
get the ball to the hot hand, and keep things moving. Uh And I you know, he had to assists. Like it wasn't great, but he was you know, like he wasn't making mistakes. He was able to get the ball to norm a couple of times. Who was the best horror on the floor during those stretches. So overall, I mean that's that's still
a pretty solid performance. Like we don't need Bones to I mean of course there's a time and place, but I would say in a general scenario, we don't need Bones to bear a lot of the offensive burden from a scoring perspective. Really, he just got to go in there, take care of the ball, not make mistakes, and like I said, just keep things
moving for this Clippers offense. Yeah, that's well said. And he did have the first to assists to three point shots made in that second quarter to get the run started started, and assist to Norman Powell coming off of what he did in the first quarter, and assist to Paul George. It was his first make that assist by Bones Highland. So to your point, was getting guys good looks out there, and I think the offense, you know it's going to come for him. It will. He's too good on that
end. I'm just waiting for that Bones Highland explosion game with him back into the lineup. Now. Of course, Will Updyke only comes on during victories and the Clippers would win by one eighty nine to eighty eight. Your final in Minnesota, Yeah, it's not time travel. They really want a game scoring eighty nine points in the year twenty twenty four, Will, we'll talk to you soon. I know, we got a YouTube I think coming up on Tuesday, my friend, thanks for doing this here a little clips and
double dip here on clipper Stock. Absolutely thanks for having me. Let's go quick. We'll take a few calls before we get out of here. Clippers again win by one in Minnesota, Lenny and Inglewood. You're on clipper Stock without of mousle and quickly, Lenny, Hey, what's so bad? It's a good game, man, good win. I just hope that Paul. I just hope that Bamber extends once again Norman Pile, because Paul George's an All Star, but he's not capable of playing at the level the money he's
asking for right now. And I mean we're going on ten games. I think, no, no, no, no, no, he's capable. He just isn't playing like it right now. Well, let's hope so, man, because if we're going to the playoffs with him, but kayleally getting twenty five, it's not gonna happen. He's got to come in after twenty five. Hawile needs he needs a one a his to his one to his one star. Yeah, and if he ain't gonna do it, I can't see it. Happens. The West is too tough. Man, it's too
tough. I agree. I mean, I think it's obvious Paul George has to shoot the ball better. He's been bad the last month. He's also been injured. I think those two things seem to coincide. I mean, the guy was having arguably his most efficient season until the last month. So does not act like it's been happening all season long, or reprisoners of the moment and not give him the respect he deserves for being an All Star he was not just because of his name, because he was playing that well before
he got bang Duff, Ryan and Burbank, what's up? You're on Clippers stock without of Mansleen quickly, Adam, this is a great win. And here's the thing that most striped out to me for this win. The Clippers defense was phenomenal. But Adam, let's just play. Let's just play what if for a second. If James harden It hits two to three shots and Paul George hits one more, you know more more towards their averages, this is a blowout. Here. Here's the thing. Here's the thing. The
Timberwolves can make the exact same argument. Ryan I talk and I that they can ad them. But I would argue though that the Clippers, the Clippers shooting is far better than that the Wolves shooting will ever be. And if the Clippers just play this level of defense they're they're to me, they're still gonna be there at the end for the Western Conference like this is, this is. I agree with that overall, they have more weapons, they have
more offense. Minnesota is just seventeenth offensively, so that's fair. Ryan. I appreciate the phone call Morris in Long Beach. Morris, you on Clipper stoping that I'm awesome. Hey, gives some clidit to in Minnesota. But the Clippers they've arrived. The Clippers they this. There was five mile stars on the po Tonite. There was five mile stars on them and the winner
didn' score ninety points. Listen, the Clippers are ready after that twenty one point loss to the Lakers, turning round, they got a bad tation themo I don't think they're gonna lose anybody else. I don't think they're gonna lose any battle. Harden didn't score a big deal. He had ten assists. That's twenty points in a low scoring game. Like this. Paul George, y, he ain't himself. I'm gonna tell you something. Anthony Towns winding
hiself heat to the light after dealing with Paul George. So they've arrived, they're ready to go. They figured out you got to play defense if you want to win, if you want entertained called fifty points, if you want to win, it's gonna be ugly. And everybody got to buy into playing defense. You mean, if they were selling baskets good nobody for it now except for Kauietbau. That's because everybody brought into the defensive, defensive scheme and
you could see it at them. We're ready you behavee yourself. You too, Morris, Thank you. We'll talk to you tomorrow. Jose and Southgate to close things out. Jose, what's up here on Clipper stop with that? I'm aussel. What's up about one point win over the number one team in the West on kt L A five. I love it, baby sports? Oh yeah, no, oh, yes, we were in the traffic jam. We were in the traffic jam. When we were at traffic jams
and slow funk. Hey, Minnesota was in a traffic jam against that Clippers defense. You know what I'm saying. Hey, no, I feel you. I feel you. But we are in the front of a back to back, so I'll keep it short. I am looking for a mere coffee to kind of He's versatile, So take on that west Brook, you know, kind of push your offense because we need to. We need one of just Norman Powell. But here we all ready for he one two to three day. Yeah, that was day in south Gate, a little man.
Clippers win eighty nine to eighty eight in Minnesota finally, which means they got one more game between the two they win that it comes down to a tiebreaker
should they finish the season with the same record.
