Transcript

Time for a postgame. Look, it's your La Clippers. This is Clippers Locker Road, brought to you by Cedars Sinai, the official health partner of the LA Clippers, and by Patschonga, official travel casino of the LA Clippers. Breaking down today's action with the pre and post game voice. If you're

La Clippers, they're locking in every game, every night. Adam Osland, the Clippers couldn't hit anything in the fourth quarter and then Abra cadabra they pull out the magic trick on the Orlando Magic and win one Hunter to ninety seven thanks to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George with clutch buckets late. Welcome into your postgame show. I'm at a Oslin eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty if you want to get on early four Clippers stock. But first we get

out back to Carlo Jamenez in Orlando. What a gritty victory wants again by this Clippers team. Carlo. It started on the defensive end. They got just enough stops down the stretch and then two point three took them home. Oh my goodness, Adam, just how you want to draw it up. You rely on your defense, You hold Orlando to forty four percent from the field, thirty four percent from three. You get it done in the paint,

fifty two points in the paint. You had more points in the paint than Orlando, who is eighth in the NBA in points in the paint, and Adam, it wasn't pretty. The Clippers didn't do everything right, but it's not about that. It's about getting gritty rins. It's about showing that mental toughness. The Clippers are one of the best teams this season at coming back down ten. They never trailed by more than five in this game.

They were able to hold their own and every time Orlando went on a run, whether that was thirteen oh, whether that was eleven ozer, whether that was ten oh, the Clippers responded and it was two to one, three, answering the call time and time again. What a performance by the Clippers. What a way to get it done back to back games on the road.

Now you head to Charlotte with all the confidence in the world. This team looks like they're turning into that true form we were all waiting for come playoff that Paul George had five points with about four minutes left in this ball game until he got that layup, then the three pointer, and then the fade away over Jonathan Isaac. An impossible shot, but that's what superstars do. Even when you're having an off night. You gotta believe in yourself.

You gotta have confidence, and nobody else was taking that shot. That was all PG thirteen. Yeah. He caught the ball in the right corner. Ty Lou looked at him, held his hand parallel to the hardwood, hit high on the right side, and said, hang on, let's wait, Let's let this shot clock dwindle down. There was about four seconds left between shot and game and Paul George hit that shot with five point one. You cannot draw it up any better for the Clippers. What a closing play by

Paul George. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George lead this team in clutch points and they put this team on their back down the stretch. It was a fun performance to watch because of the grit, because of the energy, because Adam, they didn't have to come down double digits. They played with that intensity and focus for almost the entire night. It was a fantastic win by the Clippers in what felt like a playoff style environment. The seventh largest crowd in

Kia Center history here tonight. What a game, and the playoff claw may already be activated early with just nine games left in the regular season. After that fifteen point third quarter, but then the turnaround fade away down one over Jalen Sugs with thirty five seconds left, and then the defense by him on the other end leading to that steal from James Harden. I mean, so so good his ability defensively four steals, two blocks for Kawhi Leonard and this

team as a whole, they were great down the stretch. I love a Viza Zubats closing at him. You've talked about it. Seven for ten with nine rebounds. He had fourteen points in this ball game. And look, the Clippers couldn't rely on the three point shooting. And you look at the fourth quarter stats. Clippers were one for eight in the fourth, Orlando was one for seven. Nobody could hit a bonus distance bucket all fourth quarter. And I think that's what gives you the most confidence in this win, Adam,

is we've talked about what is this team struggled? Why have they not been shooting well? And something that's been brought up and rightfully so is you know what, the three point shooting, especially on wide open looks, just hasn't been there. But even tonight, even tonight, when it's not there, when you only make eight threes, they've made eight threes in quarters this season. When you make eight threes and forty eight minutes, you still get

it done. It's all about finding ways to win when it comes to playoff time and you can tally another way to win. On the resume of the Clippers, they're forty sixth, but just as good as every other one and back to back character building and defining victories after coach Lou called them out for being soft as they weren't playing great once they got punched in the face, they weren't fighting back. The last two ball games the Clippers have responded to

their head coach. These are the type of victories you want to see down the stretch of the regular season. You just if you're to looking about experiences to give you confidence and to help you learn how to execute late in games. There is none better than this one night here in Orlando. None better to teach you how to respond to run, and none better figure out how to win ball games. When you're a little sloppy with a basketball and when

threes aren't falling, your game, your way. A gritty, grinded out performance by the Clippers once again, carried by two, one to three. It's just it's it's such a confidence builder for this team on the road in the third toughest place to play in the Eastern Conference. What a win. And you got Charlotte waiting in the wings, a chance to continue the momentum,

Adam, coming home when you play Denver in three games. The Clippers will be in Charlotte on Sunday. Tip time for that contest against the Hornets is at three pm. We have your pregame show starting at two pm. Carlo Man his great call as always safe travels. We'll talk to you on Sunday. Talk to you Sunday, Adam. Let's go Clippers, back out

it. What'll win? The Clippers come through in the clutch again. They win one hundred to ninety seven in Orlando over the Magic And you're listening to the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network. Most Clippers win in Orlando one hundred to ninety seven on a very good and a very defensive Magic team as they get big buckets from Kawhi and Paul George late. Welcome back in I'm Adam Osland coming up on the Patriot Am eleven fifty. We'll have Clippers talk for you. Eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty. But first second half highlights. Clippers

lay at the half fifty two to fifty. In that third quarter a complete takeover by the Claw Kawhi Leonard. Leonard leaves the George stops straight away, pops the three. Paul Ty poor Kawhi back to Leonard left the logo Dam's right twice. He takes it down the right alley, pops it jumper from the right elbow and sticks it. There's your shot at the Mouslin Clippers. Third fight at the Apple. Leonard finishes and he'll leave with some food.

Leonard right wing three cash me out Kawhi Oh. Leonard steps into it and ferries it Kawhi Lenna with fifteen points in that third quarter, and the Clippers led eighty five to seventy seven heading into the fourth, but things got dicey. They went six minutes without a point. They couldn't find their offense, but then late when you needed them most down one. Multiple times it was

Paul, George and Kawhi Leonard taking ova frank wing. George flies by bank, Carroll rais it up with the right hand and stops the run the George talking about a right wing three. Now he'll try it for the pie.

Pulls up. George on the right wing, finds Leonard deep on the left side, puts it on the deck double team, almost loses it, gets it back with ten to shoot down the right Outley spins against Benk Carroll free fades and Freeze frames it in. Leonard on the right wing retreats with the right handed dribble switched on by Suns one on one cross over the left hand, stops right over with five spins, fades, fires, pits Leonard once again this superstore, making it his moment. George right wing with five,

turns the corner into the pain dating and firing Pimon. Paul George gives the Clippers a three point lead. There's your final PG thirteen with the fade away over one of the best, if not the best defender in the league in Jonathan Isaac and the Clippers win one hundred to ninety seven in Orlando over the Magic. Coming up next, we'll get to your post game box score.

I made a promise to my mama Dad, I blessed with some grandkids. Clippers come through late. It's never too late

to show up. In the final seconds of the fourth PG thirteen, he was three for thirteen and Paul George still had the confidence to take and make that shot over. Jonathan Isaac finished with twelve points those last two his best two just four fourteen. Who cares game winning bucket Kawhi Leonard before that put them up by one a fade away on Suggs. He had nine fifteen in the third quarter alone. Big Zoo came through fourteen and nine. My player

to watch on seven of ten shooting off the bench. Norn Powell with some key buckets. They had the Powell Rangers out there late and the Clippers needed fifteen points in the fourth. That's it to win the ball game. As they held the Orlando Magic under one hundred, they win one hundred to ninety seven. A wise man once said, is the law. Welcome back in. The Clippers win one hundreds and ninety seventy in Orlando over the magic. Welcome into

Clippers Talk. I'm at am Oslin eight seven to seven zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty after the second straight game by your La Clippers where they were down by five with under five minutes left and came through with the victory. Who coming up here in the show. You're gonna hear from Coach Lou and Kawhi Leonard post game. Can't say enough about the claw The last couple of ball games playoff type stuff. I thought in this contest

against Orlando. It was the best he had looked movement wise in three weeks a month. He looked fresh. He had pop out there, burst on offense, on defense causing that turnover by Man Carrol with James Harden getting the steal late. But just another tough, gritty, digging out of the dirt type of victory for the Clippers. These are the type of character building wins you can build off of, we said after the win in Philly, after

coach Lou called him out for being soft. That was exactly what they needed,

the exact type of win. They go from losing those type of ball games in two straight contests where they got punched in the face and didn't fight back, to then facing adversity down five hundred five minutes left and somehow, some way finding a way to get the victory and finding the bottom of the net from their superstars, Kawhi Leonard showed up huge, best player on the floor, twenty nine points, eleven boards, led them in rebounding, five

assists, four steals, two blocks. Are you freaking kidding me? I almost swore looking at that box score twelve of twenty one shooting When he got back into the fourth quarter. He started cold, but then got the clutch bucket over sugs with thirty five seconds left to put him back up one.

After that, they were down by one, and then Paul George, who was three of thirteen, he got the basketball with five seconds left and took a tough, high degree of difficulty fall away fatal whale for Jonathan Isaac. That would be the ultimate game winner for this Clippers team to win one hundred to ninety seven. Jonathan Isaac is one of, if not the best defender in the league right now. If he didn't know when he is healthy, he's insane. He's a force on that end. They had the right guy

on Paul George. They had a guy with the basketball who couldn't hit anything, who was ice cold till the last four minutes of the ball game where he scored seven, including that bucket, and they couldn't stop him. And the Clippers got enough stops on the other end outside of Moe Bagner, who had ten of his twelve points in the fourth quarter, and I thought single handedly was gonna beat the Clippers as they went ice cold, ice cold the

Clippers in that fourth quarter. We've seen this before. They went almost six minutes without a fuel goal, from the nine to fifty mark without a point. From the nine to fifty mark to the four fifteen mark, they did

not score. They were reeling. It was ninety four to eighty nine Orlando after the Clippers were up by eight heading into the fourth until Paul George got an easy one, saw the ball go through the hoop on a little layup, attacked, then got a three pointer, and then Kawhi Leonard a bucket man. Caro responded, it's ninety seven to ninety six. Teams were getting stops on both sides, but that Kawhi turned around, fade away, spin, move on. I said, it wouldn't matter if it was Jalen Suggs

or to R L Sugs t Sizzle. There's no defense for that shot from Kawhi Leonard. That's MJ ninety six type of game, mid range mastery. Same with Paul George. They are tough shot takers and makers. I couldn't be more proud of PG coming through after a miserable game where if they had lost, it would have been on his shoulders James Harden's. I mean those two guys combine to go seven for twenty six, and the Clippers still won. You hold a team to ninety seven you play defense like that, shots

can come and go. But if you play consistent, gritty, hard nosed defense and get back to that mindset, that's all coach Lou wanted. That was supposed to be their identity last last twenty three games. Coming into this one, they were twenty ninth defensively and they just held Orlando under one hundred. Orlando was the third best defense on the season, the Clippers a third best offense. Something had to give. It was the Clippers stepping up.

It was their defense and timely shots. Late, Orlando had lost two in a row. They're fighting to hold onto the five spot in the East. I thought with their last two losses, tough losses at home, it was gonna be a real difficult time for the Clippers. You knew they were gonna get the Magic's best shot. They wanted to bounce back desperately. They played with a sense of urgency and intensity out there, and the Clippers matched them.

I said it early on. Even though the Clippers had some bad turnovers, they ended up with sixteen of them. I felt like they were matching the intensity and the defensive effort by the magic. They led fifty two to fifty at the half. Then it was a Kawhi takeover in the third with fifteen of his twenty nine points. Scored more than half his points in that third quarter. Other guys didn't have it. They got big Zoo going a little bit. My player to watch, Thank goodness. Still wish they used

him down the stretch more give him some looks. My god. It was a monster. But these are the down and dirty type of victories you remember with nine games left in the regular season, that you can draw from a reservoir of confidence to say we've been here before, we'll get through it. It was a playoff type of victory, back to back playoff type victories for the Clippers on the road in tough environments, and they came through. What did I say before they left on the road trip, I said, you

know what, this might be the best thing for him. They had lost five straight games at home. Maybe they go out on the road and band together and come together as a team and have that US against the world mentality. Looks like they're getting it. They'll be in Charlotte on Sunday to start things off. More in Inglewood. Now, Morris, what's up here on Clippers stock here on the Patriot Amalem fifty? When the Clipper's going to show ye how they row? Ya got another game on Sunday, Make it Sunday.

Everybody's gonna say, hey, when a nice player's got a real nice team, and we can back that thing up. Man, were in a playoff roun back that thing up like a real fat woman. We can back that thing up. Getting in the building at them. We need crazy people in the building at them when they come back. The Clippers got to know we behind them. Man. The crowd that you beat tonight in Orlando, that wall they hear us Listen, they was talking about that was the sixth

largest crowd that Orlando ever had. And you know who played in Orlando before, and but they were there tonight and Orlando's in a dog fight just like the Clippers, and the Clippers did it. Adam. You know what the Clippers need. They need a fan base to go act crazy. We're supposed to be going to the game sitting down, bougie, were supposed to be hit the game acting like we crazy and lost our minds, screaming for our

team. Letting them know we behind them. If you give anybody some think that the better be to somebody that's gonna act crazy when they get in there at them. If they just gonna sit down, they have things, don't give him to him, all right? So you got to give away some tickets between now and the end of time. I'm paying for mine to night or whenever you're gonna give him away, all right, So uh, I'll call you again. But I'm proud of these guys, man. They finally

figured it out. Man. And I'm gonna give a shout out to Coach lit on this and man, he wait, the right had confidence in Paul. Plaul George couldn't throw a ball in the Pacific Ocean and one of them pullum big. If we had the lake, he couldn't hit it. But the coach still had enough in him, confident with Paul. Come on, man, and he hit it. And you know, quiet straight up Superman. That's a bad breathery right there. But you know something, madam, one guy ain't gonna do it. It takes a team, okay, and

coffee Coffee really showing me something. Well, the whole team, zoo box, the zoop anyway, they did a good job. They going someplace. I ain't scared. All these other guys they're gonna call you if they're gonna be scared. I ain't never been scared. The trip is gonna do it this year. I I'm telling you, so let me get off. You know, I'm fanatic. I don't give Everybody says, take another call Morrison and would formerly of Long Beach calling his shot, stay in his case,

making the case that I should get him some tickets. I'll work on it. I'll work on it. Morris. You're right. If anyone deserves them right now, it's you. Mark and Huyton bch. You're gonna disagree with that. After that call for Morris starting with the parody of back that you know what up? No, not at all, hey. In fact, I was going to call you in but you changed the number when you went to eleven fifty. I couldn't remember the number, and so I couldn't call

in the last two games to give my expertise opinion. Well, so the floor is yours basketball, you're lining. You know the people were always saying, well cook, looking at the glass half empty, and look at the glass half full. And I say, well, we've had the glass half empty for those five games that we lost. We just need to get a smaller we went on the road. That's my philosophy for the night. Get

a smaller glass than you went. Smaller glass. Clippers didn't have to use the glass late, but those in saying buckets from Kawhi and Paul George, and they win one hundred to ninety seven in a defensive slugfest against one of the better teams in the league. After starting the All Star Break one for nine against teams above five hundred, on this road trip, they're two and zero in tough environments against teams above five hundred. Can't let up now in

Charlotte on Sunday, if you want to hold onto that four spot. We'll update you on the NBA standards. Coming up, the Clippers come through and come up clutch again. I'm Adam Aleslan and you're listening to Clipper stock here on the Patriot AM eleven fifty. Every Clipper game all season long, they didn't stop playing hard. You're listening to the LA Clippers Audio Network streaming on

the iHeartRadio lap Clippers expressing themselves in Orlando. Coming up in crunch time again, down five with under five minutes left PG and co what shots late? Both fadeaways? Nothing you could do about it. If you're the magic from two to one three, those are your stars. That's what it has to be. They got to carry this over into playoff basketball. We'll see if

it translates. But I love the way this Clippers team has responded since coach flu called him out for being soft and given into the opponent when they have taken it on the chin with a couple of runs late in ball games over the last weekend against Philly, against Indiana. Now they bounce back with a win in Philly, a win in Orlando, both good ball clubs, both

tough environments. Clippers don't care, kaw I don't care. Unbelievable third quarter and then turn around fade away one of the biggest shots right before Paul George knock one down two. Let's pause ten seconds. Station identification here on Clippers Talk on the Patriot AM eleven fifty. This is LA Clippers Basketball AM eleven fifty k ev Los Angeles about an iHeartRadio station. I tweeted it out early, but I fellow out of may Kawhi was looking different. He had something

extra, some juice. Was turning the corner on guys good defenders, was getting by Ben Carro, was getting by Cole Anthony. It's just you can see it. The ramp up has begun. The Clippers playing like they know they only have nine more games to tune up before the playoffs, like they know the Pelicans want home court against them in the first round. Let me update you on the standings. The Clippers now a game up on the Pills, Clippers in the four spot, Pills right up behind him in the five

spot. Clippers two and a half games up on the Dallas Mavericks in the sixth spot, but the Clippers hold the tiebreaker against Dallas two games to one. This season, Phoenix three games behind the Clippers. Clippers are two and zero against them so far. They have two games remaining against them. Sons in that seventh spot, Kinks three and a half behind the Clippers, Clippers two and one against them so far. They win the final game they'd had

the tiebreaker against them. It's coming up in Sacktown at the end of this four game road trip. This is Clippers Soccer Madam Moslin, Mitch and and Jyzzy got an idea. What Mitch wants to talk about? Mitch, what's up? How's it going on? I guess I have the crow. When you only see the box scar. You know that that Alenta team reminds you of New Orleans and they they're up in common at Orlando. Okay, Orlando, I got you Orlando. Yeah, on the Magic they kind of reminded

the Pelicans. Good team at Williamson. Guy, he's coming on a stroll. But it's still a chance for Kawhi get the m v P. I was wrong about PJ. I hope he signing. And you think that we sit the MVP question, You think that's a chance to get the third seed? No, No, they have they have basically no shot. Nine games remaining, and they're they're technically they're technically only four and a half games back of the OKAC Thunder, who have dropped to the three spot. Currently they're

tied with Minnesota. But the problem is, Okay, see is the tie breaker, So really they're down five and a half games to Oka. See. It's not going to happen with nine games left. You're not making up that much ground. There's no way I'll sail before I talked to you Sunday. All right, Mitch, appreciate it. Kawhi a chance for MVP. Likely not it is going to Nicola Jokic. They finished with the number one seed, He's getting it. If Oka See finishes with the number one seed,

Sga is getting it. Lucas still somewhat in the hunt. They're nine to one their last ten games. The Dallas Mavericks. You never know. They could hop above the New Orleans Pelicans and we could have the third matchup against Dallas and want the last four years between them and the Clippers. I would not enjoy seeing Luka, Doncic and Kyrie irving in a playoff series. But then again, there's no good team you want to play right now.

You want to play Zion and the Pelicans. No, But I guess the good news is everybody's gonna have a tough opponent in the first round in the Western Conference. It's just what it is. It's as deep and as stacked with talent as ever. Speaking of talent, Kawhi Leonard leading the Clippers, I mean that third quarter scoring fifteen of there I believe thirty three points. He had a three first had a nice dish to PG for a layup, but he was fouled on the play, just couldn't get any rhythm even at

the free throw line. He made him, but it didn't translate to making field goals until later. Then he had a Kawhi fadeaway, a Kawhi block on Franz, a rear view contest in the third, a Kawhi put back after a big Zoo mess miss, another three from Kawhi a three to put him back up by three in a tie game late in the third, the

defense on Cole Anthony and then finding a mere Coffee for a three. Coffee has quietly come through with some really crucial shots the last couple of games, with him getting more play late in games for this Clippers team, but that three to put him up eighty two to seventy six by a mere Coffee after the Kawhi Leonard defense on Cole Anthony to get the miss, and then he

assists to a Mere Coffee big shot there. Kawhi then got found and went to the free throw line, knocked two down, and the Clippers had just enough cushion at eighty five seventy seven heading into the fourth quarter to absorb a run by not Franz but Moe Wagner. Well, Wagner's more problems. He had ten of his twelve points in the fourth. I thought he was gonna be the Clippers undoing the thorn in their side, the guy that comes out

of nowhere. And I'm not saying he's not a solid player. We've known about him in LA for a long time, of course with the Lakers, and he's good. But he had two points heading into the fourth and finished the game with twelve points. The Clippers could do nothing about it. They couldn't score on the other end. Another deep drought, but they made him when they mattered most, first Kawhi, then Paul George found his offense late in the fourth quarter. You gotta stick with it. That's the lesson.

You can't curl up into the fetal position. You can't be a shell of yourself on and all night, off night. You have to continue to shoot it. Shooters got to shoot. Paul George was three for thirteen before making that shot over Jonathan Isaac, and he had nothing in this ball game. Now, I will say this part of the reason he was playing spectacular defense. Paul George was doing trench work. Near the basket. Wasn't just big zoo on the interior, Paul George, We've seen it over the last week

or so, so much better defending at the rim. But he entered the fourth being one verse seven from the field. Because this can't even be right. I refuse to believe this, but it's true. He got up seven shots in the fourth, which I appreciate. Keep fire. The law of averages is in your favor. When you're that good of a player and you start one for seven, that just means they're gonna start to fall. And

he ended up three for seven in the fourth. But I think when three for his last four ended up with seven points in the fourth quarter and the Clippers hold on to win one hundred to ninety seven in Orlando over the Magic, We'll take your phone calls when we get back. We'll hear from coach lou eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty. How do James Harden and Paul George combine to go seven for

twenty six and you still win the ballgame in Orlando? How you ask you play defense? You hold the Magic to just twenty points in the fourth, you hold him to nineteen in the first quarter. Clippers started strong, finished strong, win not looking so soft. Now this team's starting to harden up coming up. As I mentioned coach Lou you'll hear from in postgame. Clippers win by three thanks to two to one to three in Orlando. This is

Slippers Talk on the Patriot Am eleven fifty. LA Clippers basketball is on the two to one three Era continues. You're listening to the LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Network. It was in Dame time, it was Kawhi time, it was PG thirteen time. In Orlando, Clippers win one hundred to ninety seven thanks to two to one three showing up late, Kawhi showing up

great throughout it. Paul George was one for seven entering the fourth, but goes three for his last four, including the game ceiling shot, and the Clippers showed off what they can be, who they can be on the defensive end when they feel like it. We know it's there, We know they have the personnel. I want to give a shout out to Mason Plumbley, who I thought gave him some really good minutes in this ball game, just twelve, but eight points, was a plus four, had four boards.

Thought Russell Westbrook had his moments too, got pulled after taking a tough three pointer early in the fourth, but five points, four assists, two turnovers, but he found Mason Plumbley played with some peppinist step. Of course, Norman Powell ten points all needed in twenty six minutes. It was a low scoring affair and Kawhi led everyone with twenty nine. Paulo ban Caro had he was one for six in the first half, I want to say, had

four or five points and finished with twenty three. They got his best eventually. Franz Wagner had that ridiculous takeaway and then the dunk on Paul George. It was kind of back and forth with guys yamming on one another with huge, ferocious dunks at the basket. Big Zoo had one. He was fierce.

He had a bad first stint in the first quarter, I would say, was frustrated, got into it the referees, came back into the second quarter, got his head on straight and really surged where I want to say he had six and four boards in the second quarter alone, finished with fourteen to nine. You can turn around a bad performance very quickly there. Early on in the ballgame. The Clippers needed him to. Terrence Man didn't play huge minutes once again, it was a mere coffee closing or at least getting

more minutes, I believe in the second half than Terrence Man. They went Powell Rangers late, so the starters, but instead of Man, Norman Powell out there to spread the floor, to have more shooting, to have more offense. But these are those type of victories, a feather in your cap win. I don't forget these ones, especially with just nine games left in the regular season. Things weren't going their way. It wasn't their best performance.

Paul George was four or fourteen, James Harden was just three of twelve, one of seven from the outside. Two of the big three didn't have it, of course Kawhi always does. But you got to generate a different way to win when you don't have your best what else can you do? Thought there were some really bad turnovers out there by the Clippers, but that steal by James Harden off the great defense from Kawhi Leonard late where he had

his hands up ready for a deflection. The no look steal by him a no look passed by a Vita zubats by the way in the first quarter where he was trapped in the far side right corner and didn't have a look at one of his teammates and just heave did it Hail Mary's style granny shot behind his head. Paul George saved it from going into the back court and got fouled. It was really fortunate for the Clippers. One of the more comical

plays of the season that worked out in their favor. I couldn't forget about that one. Let's hear from coach Lou post game after the Clippers toughed it out, bought through adversity, was there down five under five minutes left, two one three. This is the type of seasoning you need during the regular

season to get ready for the playoffs. Here was coach Lou post game, and job, build eleven point lead, playing good basketball, and then we just get comfortable, you know, and turn the ball over careless passes. And we had think we had three turnovers in that stretch, a bad shot and then a bad defensive play, you know, and allowed them to get back in the game. And so you know, we just can't we can't

do that and turn them all over seventeen times. You know, for a good off of the team like we are, you just can't do it. And so you know a lot of those are careless turnovers. You know. I don't think anything they done they did was really affecting us, But we just gotta be better, you know, taking care of the basketball. But like I said, I love our defense tonight. I thought we did some

good things. I thought coming out in the third quarter, making adjustment of switching their pick and roll kind of slowed down their triggers a little bit and got them a little stagnant. Zoo did a good job with that. And overall, like another tough, gritty win for us, you know, coming down the stretch, keeping our composure, getting down late in the game, but finding a way to win the game. And so that's what you got to do if you want to be a good team, find a way to

win, survive. In advance, it's March madness. Clippers are now, oh I want to say nine and seven in March with one game remaining, right, Katie, last game in March for them is on Sunday. So sixteen games through through nine and seven, the best they'll be ten and seven in these seventeen games in thirty one days. Yeah, it's been that type of schedule for the Clippers. Evergreen phrasing right there. It's always been like

that for them. It's been unbelievable, especially the second half of the season post All Star Break. But he mentioned there, you're up by eleven in that third quarter. The Clippers go on a nine to zero run to start the third I thought they had a chance to put the game away right then. I know it wouldn't be easy against Orlando by the nine to twenty one mark. So they're doing big work early in the third quarter after just being

up by two and a half. They're up sixty one to fifty. Then at Kawhi, really bad turnover to Gary Harris where he has a take foul. They get the free throw and the ball, get the layup. Oh now it's sixty one fifty four. James Harden misses a three pointer. Then James Harden has a bad turnover Ben Carrow buckety one fifty six and one, and you go from being up eleven to being a four point game. Another

hard and turnover. That was I think the Franz Wagner Steele I was thinking of the dunk on Paul George and it's sixty one to fifty nine Clippers timeout. You go from being up eleven at the nine to twenty one mark of the third quarter at sixty one to fifty to it being sixty one to fifty nine a minute and a half later, and you got to call a timeout. So, as always, there are things to clean up. But what did I say and what did Carlo and I talk about coming back in after

that timeout? They need a silencer shot right now to stem the tide of this run. And it was Kawhi Leonard with the jumper and the third two of his fifteen points in the third quarter. That is that championship grit, a guy who's been there before. Yeah, they made a run. We have to answer it right now. We can't let the floodgates open up and let this game get away from us, like what happened against Indiana, like what happened against Philly back at home last weekend. Guy has been different the

last two games. What he did against Philadelphia down the stretch with the and ones, the blocks, I know one of them didn't count, but still impressive. And then tonight I'm not gonna call it hero ball, but it was heroic. He was taking the right type of shots and he was missing early in the fourth quarter. It looked like that third quarter where he emptied

the tank and maybe he didn't have much left. He comes back in with the Clippers having given up what was a ten point lead after they score forward first with Mason Plumbley early on the fourth quarter. Thanks were going to hell in a hand basket pretty quickly there, but they were only up by six when Kawhi re entered the game four. Mayson Plumbley at the seven to fifty five mark and Kawhi couldn't get a shot to go early. Missus went at

the six fifty two mark. Jumper, Missus is a three pointer at the five to forty mark, Missus a nine foot step back at the four twenty seven mark, but then it's oh James Harden now picks him up. He gets the layup his first bucket of the fourth at the four to fifteen mark. Clippers are down by three, so they were down by five. Then a three pointer and it's a tie game. Just big shots from Paul George after the night he was having. Both guys got to help each other out

In those situations, they're not always going to be hot at once. Kawhi the hot hand of the third Paul George was struggling throughout the game, but when Kawhi started off cold, misses his first three shots in the fourth quarter, it was Paul George getting a couple to go, then Kawhi got a jumper. Clippers are up by one, down by one, as Ben Carro answered, that's the type of flow in rhythm you want to see to a game where you say, oh, both teams fighting, both teams playing with

desperation. This is playoff type basketball. This prepares you for those moments. Because Orlando didn't go away, just like Philadelphia didn't go away. They were answering runs by the Clippers. They were hitting threes. Maxi was great for them in the fourth. Just back and forth, and you gotta know you're gonna be in those fights. This one's gonna take. You take their best shot, keep pushing forward and respond. And the Clippers have the last two

games. Now we'll see if they can build on this. They will be in Charlotte on Sunday. We'll take a quick time out, we'll come back. Clippers win one hundred to ninety seven in Orlando over the Magic eighteen and seven in the Clutch. Now in the last five minutes of games within five points since December first, one of the best marks in the NBA. Who that was a fun one. More Clippers stock next here on the Patriot amulm fifty. They want to bring a banner with them to the Into It Dawn.

More LA Clippers basketball on the La Clippers Audio Network. The Clippers were so good defensively against Orlando. They moved up two spots with their defensive rating since the Grammy road trip. Their last twenty four games, they go from twenty ninth defensively to twenty seventh. It's progress step in the right direction.

I really thought there might be a point tonight when the Clippers win almost six minutes without making a field goal, without making a point, without getting a point in the fourth quarter that I was gonna have to say one step forward, two steps back. Should have had this one in Orlando, but instead the Clippers just gutted it out. They win one hundred to ninety seven. I'm Adam Oslin. This is Clippers talk. Here on the Patriot AM eleven

fifty eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty is the phone number. Clippers next game coming up in Charlotte on Sunday against the Hornets. Not exactly the level of competition that the Clippers have been going up against over their last four ball games. Doesn't matter. You can't afford to slip up right now. The Hornets are eighteen fifty five, one of the worst teams in the league. They I've lost who six of seven. It's been a tough one for

them. They have been in a perpetual rebuild for some time. Thanks m J. They're playing for draft picks once again. They've had some unfortunate injuries and things go against them. Gordon Hayward's no longer there. We know he's with Okay. See, that's just a game. You have to win it for the Clippers, period. No excuses come out. Don't look at the

record, don't play the record, play the team. Because on any given Sunday, in this case, when the game takes place tip off at three pregame at two against a squad of four hundred and fifty of the best players, or at least the makeup of that fifteen team rosteries out of a pool of four hundred and fifty of the best players in the world. You can be beat. We've seen it this year. The Clippers have lost a game to Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Jordan when almost everybody was out. For the Denver

Nuggets, speaking of they got them coming up too. That's a big one in this way. If the Clippers end up in the four spot or the five, which is very likely at this point with nine games remaining, game up on the Pelicans right now, who are behind them in that sixth seed. What you don't want is the Denver Nuggets to end up with the number one overall seed, because that means if you are lucky enough to get past the first round and Denver wins their one eight matchup, you're in their bracket

and taking them on in the second round. The defending champs and ooh, the OKC thunder just came through with a victory. They now move in front of the Denver Nuggets as the thunder one and got a big victory in fact over the Phoenix Suns one twenty eight to one oh three. Josh Gideyo has been playing much better, had twenty three, seven and nine. Kevin Durant with twenty six and six. They blew out the Suns at home, so they're at the top of the West. I'm not saying you can take them

lightly. We know who SGA is. They were what two to one against the Clippers this season, But I think you prefer that matchup overtaking on Nikola Jokic and the defending champs in the second round lesser two evils. Pick your poison. So root for oka See to keep winning. Root for the Denver Nuggets to drop a few games, same with the Pelicans. But the Clippers can help their own cause if they can beat Denver next week. That's why

I say it's a huge game. Yeah, the Clippers need wins right now, but they can beat a team that is trying to get the number one seed. Yeah, that would give him confidence. If you can beat Denver again and they finally beat them for the first time and I want to say their last nine tries this season back in January, I want to say at Crypto dot Com Arena and maybe their best win of the season. And ooh, look at this getting spicy with it with my driver on the league speaking

in to existence Adam. Denver is currently down seventy seven to fifty four at home to the Timberwolves, Sjokic playing, He's only six of sixteen. I don't love that matchup. If I'm the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs, I know they beat him last season, they beat everybody. But what I want to see is this. You drop down down to two or three in the

standings. That means they win the first round. Minnesota wins the first round if they're right next to them in two or three, and they play each other in the second round, and I think Minnesota would push them because they have the size, They have guys to throw at Nikoli Jokic. Case in point. Now, I know Denver's probably gonna come back in this game because I'm talking about it. But you're down twenty three at home to the Minnesota

Timberwolves right now. I believe they play one more time before the season is over here. So yes, we're doing a little bit of scoreboard watching, and yes they are playing them one more time third the last game still in Denver. This is big, Okay. See one tonight Denver is down twenty three at home to a team right next to them in the standings. This is what we need. Clipernation hold on to that four spot and then root

for Denver to drop into the two three. I don't care who's there with them, whether it's okay See or Minnesota, but I prefer Minnesota because that would be troublesome. I think all you want is look to play Denver in the Western Conference finals, to push that back as far as you can. If you're so lucky to get there, maybe they'll be a little bit more worn down, maybe someone else will take them out. You just don't want to have to play him until you have to push it back as far as

possible. I'm telling you, you can win a championship base on path of least resistance. This stuff matters. But the Clippers they got work to do themselves. They're in Charlotte on Sunday. They're trying to hold back the Pelicans from having home court in the first round against them, and it's not gonna be easy. The rest of the way this is the Pelican can try to chase them down. Clippers win tonight one hundred to ninety seven over the Magic

in Orlando. Before we get out of here, let's hear from Katie Newton, our producer. Let's get to Katie's casual NBA corner where she asked me rudimentary questions or sometimes just off the wall stuff. Yes, so I assume there's an NBA Hall of Fame. It's a Basketball Hall of Fame, not an NBA Hall of Fame. So how many Clippers are in the Basketball Hall of Fame? I think Bob McAdoo Magad's that's such a fun name. Bill Walton, I think that might be it. All right, But you know,

CP three will be in there, he was a Clipper. Kauhi will be in there. I think Paul George will be in there, and Blake Griffin has a case too. We gotta go before you get out of here. I do want to thank the Clippers organization. Ralph Lawler, Brian Seeman, Noah Ego, Carlo Jimenez on the call until Sunday with the regame shows starting at too. I'm got a Moas and Clippers and Charlotte. We'll talk to you then. So why he was doing his thing? All they want

to do is win in La. I win. I thought they gave everything they had. I'm very proud of them. This has been Clippers Talk. The official postgame reaction of the LA Clippers God bless Paul George.
