Breaking down today's action with the pre and post game voice. If you're La Clippers, they're locking in every game every night. Adam Osled the Clippers step up late and they win one thirteen oh one oh four over the Charlotte Hornets.
Here at Crypto dot com, areno welcome into your postgame show. I'm Adam Oslin As the Clippers now have won fifteen of their last twenty ballgames. They do so without Kawhi Leonard in this one, and we were rejoined by a radio voice of the Clippers in Carlo Jmenez. Carlo impressive finish to the fourth quarter by the Clippers, who were down ninety one to eighty four with
nine to twenty nine left in the ballgame. They go on to outscore the Charlotte Hornets twenty nine to thirteen and go on to win one thirteen to one oh four. And we wish it wouldn't have taken that deficit to see that intensity. But at the end of the day, this is an NBA team
that showed us they rise to the occasion, whatever that might be. The effort was there, the energy was there, and it starts with Russell Westbrook, his ability to crash the glass, to push the ball in transition to find his teammates Adam to hit a three and then be open on the top of the arc and instead of shooting another three, give a Vitcha Zubats an
easy bucket of left block. I thought he played excellent down the stretch for this team in twenty eight minutes, came away with the double double to go along with six assists. He brought the intensity from the start and his teammates
followed, and it was fun to watch. Yeah, he's six points on the fourth quarter, but a big rebound late as he had eleven of them, and when Charlotte was grabbing all kinds of offensive rebounds, it was Russell Westbrook who was able to snatch one out of the air and it's a curate plus a big block in the fourth quarter. That energy from Russell Westbrook.
He and James Harden played well down the stretch. James with twenty nine points to lead the Clippers in this one, four of them coming in the fourth quarter, and PG thirteen also stepped up late. He ends up with twenty five. He entered the fourth quarter with just eighteen, so he ended up with seven of his twenty five in the final period when they needed to make that push in that big run after being down by seven with about nine left
in the fourth. Yeah, he delivered late for this team. Stepped up, made a big shot to put them up eleven, pretty much sealed the deal. At the end of the game. He was excellent on the defensive end, and I thought he, along with a Vitsa Zubots, carried this team through that second half to take them the distance. Hey, you talk
with Big Zoo postgame. He was hard on himself, thought he could be better in the short roll, but eighteen and fourteen and was just a force out there and he was making them feel his presence at the rim where it was the Charlotte Hornets getting everything early on in this game near the cylinder. Late, Big Zoo was either getting an easy put back, a dunk, a layup, or getting fout and knocking down free throws late. Yeah, he's so good at being aggressive to the rim, so good at controlling the
offensive glass. Nick Richards just didn't have a chance against him. Today, I eatsa Zubins has five years of NBA experience and showed that with the way he was able to navigate traffic. Charlotte made the adjustment by doubling Harden in the first couple of times it didn't totally work out. Zubos found rhythm, he found backdoor cutters, he was patient with the basketball, and the Clippers played four on three on the offensive end and they were able to come away
with a win. Interesting adjustment. I wonder if that's why coach Lou kept Russell Westbrook out there, Because you take away one ball handler in James Harden, you find the other one in Russell Westbrook, and then the offense just continued from there. Big Zoo with nine of his eighteen by the way, in the fourth quarter. He finished with those eighteen points, fourteen boards, seven of eleven shooting, James Harden with eight assists, Russell Westbrook with six.
The Clippers end up with just thirteen turnovers after having six in the first quarter. They were much better with the basketball from then on. Yeah, they controlled the basketball. They controlled the pace at him and I thought also they controlled the paint. This was a team for Charlotte. Then had forty two first half points in the paint, which was a season high. They finished with just twenty more in the second half to have a normal sixty two
on the night. The Clippers did an excellent job and making it a lot harder for the downhill drive of guys like Bridges, Rosier McGowan's who was getting it going early, even Cody Martin who had a season high seven but it all came in the first half for him. Clippers locked it up on the defensive end, showed why they're one of the better defensive teams in the NBA, and we were able to shut down Charlotte, hold them just one hundred
and four points. Impressive during closing time and the Clippers win one thirteen to one oh four over the Hornets. Here at Crypto dot Com Arena, their next game is coming up on Friday. They'll be taking on revitalized Memphis Grizzlies team now with John Moran back tiptime for that once at seven thirty. That's what it was. That's what it was. T shirt was caught, and the vibes change and his player of the game, Mormon Powell with big five in a row leading that one, big time Norm Powell

Adam Moslin live from Crypto dot Com Arena. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas. Little post Christmas gift from the Clippers in that fourth quarter, especially where they outscored the Charlotte Hornets thirty one to twenty four when they needed it most.
Ended up getting four points from James Harden, some big ones in the fourth five from Norman Powell, some big points including a three pointer in the fourth quarter, Paul George ended up with seven of his twenty five points and a big three pointer that was the dagger late and after being down by seven, the Clippers were able to turn things around an end the game on a twenty nine to thirteen run to win by nine over the Charlotte Hornets, who were
led by Miles Bridges With twenty one Clippers are right back here at Crypto Friday night, taking on John Moran and the Memphis Grizzlies. Tip Off is at seven thirty. seven two five seventy. If you'd like to get on or if you're screwed, just get to me out follow Adam a on X. Clippers come through late and we're able to find the switch and flip it because I thought they were playing with fire. I thought they were, uh, I don't know. Taking off that beekeeper has matt suit a little bit too early against the Charlotte Hornets, as the Clippers found themselves down seven in the fourth quarter.
They had been leading the entire way, but it was just a two point game coming out of the third at eighty two to eighty and then Charlotte went on in eleven two run to start the fourth and the Clippers found themselves down ninety one to eighty four after a terry scary Roseier hit a three and I thought to myself, are they really doing this again? Are they playing down
to their competition? Is this like losing to the Memphis Grizzlies without John Morant, losing to the Brooklyn Nets without half of their team, losing to the Denver Nuggets, which just ready Jackson and DeAndre Jordan. But apparently the Clippers knew something I didn't, which is that they were able to get into that sixth gear when they needed it most. Sixth gear, I think, is like a sports portion of nine to eleven. You know, I only had
five years on my Hunter prelude back in the day. But the Clippers found it. They came out of that timeout being down by seven and went on a fourteen to zero run total, it was a nineteen to two run. They would outscore Charlotte the rest of the way twenty nine to thirteen and win by nine, and do so in impressive fashion. Norm hit a three pointer out of the timeout. Shout out Norm Coore the Powell Rangers. Then they played some lockdown defense. PG would hit a jumper make it a four point
game. After Charlotte got a bucket to make it six that they were leading by. Then PG to zoo for a layup that was blocked and he still made it, and it was just a two point game of Paul George layup would tie it. Then a Russ steel out of a timeout bad passed by Charlotte, and Harden would hit a step back three pointer. Paul George some great defense on Terry Rozier, we get him to step out of bounds, another Charlotte Hornet's turnover. Russ would hit a three and then have a block.
Miles Bridges would air a three ball and then Russ found Big Zoo to give the Clippers a one on one ninety three lead, a Zoo steal out of the time out, then a big Zoo bucket off of his own miss Russ to the rim and one of my favorite plays of the season because they were giving him the three and instead he took it to the basket. But Paul George would hit the most consequential shot down the stretch with I want to say one twenty six left a three pointer to put him up by eleven in
the corner off a feed from Russell Westbrook. That was the dagger and the clip escaped late in what could have been a disastrous loss where you just can't lose to a team that has just seven victories and it lost seven in a row in the Charlotte Hornets, a team that's not gonna give up if it's a close game late, just like they played the Denver Nuggets close recently at home. This was game one of a six game road trip for them. I think they have the mentality of okay, clean slate, US against the
world. We're in the fox hole now, it's US versus everyone out on this road trip, and they had an opportunity to get off to a good start. The Clippers led by just ten in the first half. It was a five point game twenty four minutes in at fifty five to fifty, and I thought the Charlotte Hornets had to wake them up by getting up by seven with nine minutes left, because I didn't like the way the Clippers were playing
all night. They closed strong, they played nine great minutes, but they were down after the first quarter by one, only leading at the half by five, only up by two heading into the fourth. They were asking to be beat by a team that was out working them at times, as it looked like the Clippers were sleepwalking, a little bit, low energy game, not from everyone but I thought Paul George was picking his spots when to take
over. I thought James Harden was great. He had twenty in the first half, ten in the first, ten in the second, and knocked down a big shot in the fourth quarter and was blowing by defenders. By the way again PJ. Washington blew by him twice in the first half. That speed is there, he's finding it. He's coming around now. I want to say about twenty five in this season as a Clipper, maybe twenty three. I'll check on that. But he's getting back in shape. He's getting
a rhythm, his timing back. You can see it by the rim pressure. He's just more comfortable now off the bounce, putting on those dribbling exhibitions and then flying by his defender. Very encouraging sign athletically, the explosiveness from James Harden right now. He did finish with twenty nine to lead the Clippers. Six threes made. Of his eight makes, six of them were threes, one of them was a four point play. The bearded wonder is just
that the guy's lethal. And while the Clippers didn't have Kawhi Leonard, I was saying from the get go, no excuses game against this Charlotte Hornets team. They just can't match the Clippers star power, firepower. Charlotte's bottom three in offensive rating, defensive rating. They aren't playing good basketball. They don't
have LaMelo Ball their engine, their catalyst. Clippers had to win this game, and you could see the sense of urgency and intensity pick up in the last nine minutes once they were down by seven, said oh, we gotta come alive. Now we got a game. It's time to flip the switch, to find our competitive, competitive spirit and pull this out. And boy did they win them by nine, sixteen points. Turn around a twenty nine
to thirteen run after being down by seven with nine minutes left. Impressive tip of the caps to the Clippers, and a tip of the cap to Clipper Nation tonight. I don't know if they muster up the energy to close this one out in that style, in that fashion, without Clipper Nation just waiting for something to cheer for. You could tell the crowd was here tonight. They wanted to erupt, they wanted highlights, and once they got them,
they helped fuel the Clippers energy down the stretch. Pat yourself on the back to night Clipper Nation place was packed. I think there was. Well, the word may have been out that the Boston Celtics, who obviously travel, well, we're packing this place in on Saturday in that thirty seven point loss that Clippers had to the Celtics, and Clipper Nation wanted to get back. They didn't want to be out numbered. Tonight. It wasn't even close.
And I just love the energy that they helped bring to this Clippers team. As Russ was getting the crowd involved, he was calling for him after hitting that three pointer in the fourth first James Harden hit one, then Russ hit one. Big Zoo with a big throwdown. Viata Zoobos was nine of his eighteen in the fourth quarter, a force. He was detonating at the ram and when he wasn't scoring a field goal, they were fouling him and he
was knocking down free throws. He ended up three or four from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter, but eighteen fourteen boards a block seven of eleven from the field. Really liked the effort that a Vitza Zubos played with tonight. After that first stint, I didn't think he was great out of the gate, but in the second quarter he was much better. They were looking for him more. To start the third they were looking for him, and
then down the stretch find big Zoo. You have the mismatch, exploit it, spam it, go to it continuously. Did they make it ten of twelve that they have won and fifteen of twenty and the two game slide is over. And now they got two days off until they take on the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night right here at Crypto, And now I believe they have two more days off. You think I would know my own work schedule, but I try not to look too far ahead. On New Year's Day, they'll
see the Miami Heat here. So they have a chance to rip off three straight. Very possible. And hopefully Kawhi Leonard is back soon. They're saying his day today, he's feeling better. Wasn't quite there yet. To be honest, I had no business needing him in this game against the Charlotte Hornets tonight. That would have been on them if they had somehow lost. They still had the best player on the floor, the two best players in the floor. I ain't the three best players on the floor. Would you have
Paul George, Jamie Harden and Russell Westbrook Clippers win by nine. We'll take a quick time out, then we'll get to your phone calls eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Clippers win one thirteen to one oh four over the Charlotte Hornets. Oh little Gta Vice City on the way out brings me back? Here is that O three more Clippers start coming up next time out of Moslin. And you're
listening to a F five seventy LA Sports. They want to bring a banner with them to the into It doll More LA Clippers basketball on the LA Clippers Audio Network. You got what on me? But you say, hey, test the twin, You'd say, Charlotte thought they were gonna get it and they got friends out. Clippers win tonight one thirteen to one oh four, or over the Hornets. Here at Crypto dot com arena, I'm out of Moslin. Welcome back in the Clippers stock. The Hornets had only hit three
three pointers entering the fourth, they were three for eighteen. They would hit three in less than three minutes at the beginning of the fourth, and all of a sudden, the Clippers were down by seven, But they didn't panic,
they didn't waiver. They called a time out, and they showed some ridiculous composure and grit down the stretch after answering an eleven two run with a nineteen to two run of their own, and they won by nine over the Hornets eight six six nine eighty seven two five seventy eight six six nine eighty seven two five seventy Javier and Lejabra heights Faviier, what's up here on clipper stock without a mazzlet? Hey it? What's up at him? Man?
Like you said? It was too close for comfort? Man, I thought for a while they when they were down seven points, I'm like, here we go again, just like what happened with like you said, with Denver and and the Nets. And I was like, no, not again. You know, they take three steps forward and then two steps back. I was like, no, let's not. Let's not happen again. So apparently they were themselves. They knew they had it the entire way. They had
a lot of confidence. I thought it was a little too close for comfort. But when you come up with they twenty nine to thirteen run to end the game in the last nine minutes, that's pretty impressive. I've here no that that is. And I, like you said, after he called that timeouts, they went on that run. So you know, somebody had to close a game. And like you said, it was Harden and Paul George that brought us home. Nothing that wasn't ask you. Yeah, I wasn't
think. I wasn't asking what's going on with Terrence Man. I mean we talked about this. You talked about a couple of years ago. I think it was not this year, but two years ago you said, this is a year Terrence Man has to step it up. He's got average whatever you said eighteen ninety went to game and a game or something that you mentioned this is about I remember you said it. Noel, you said something him and Lukenard they already in the leaf for a couple of years. You gotta step
it up now. And sure it was the year without Kawhi. It was the twenty one to twenty two season and Paul George only played thirty one games. And I thought Terrence for the most part was great. That team had no business finishing the year with a winning record, and they did. Terrence gets credit for that. He Marcus Morris Reggie Jackson, Luke Canard. A lot of those guys stepped up, but he's just in a shooting funk. An unbelievable one right now. Javier and I saw him get I think it
was in the third quarter. He got a layup, James Harden looked for him underneath, underneath the basket, a couple of pump fakes, finally got the layup to go, then knock down some free throws. It's just a guy, I think, lack of confidence with his offense right now. I've seen this before. He's in a deep shooting slump. He went zero of ten last game. He ends up going one to four. But I'm gonna say this about Terrence Goring is the last thing I'm worried about with him,
especially with this starting lineup. When you're playing next to Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, I don't want you to take away shots from those guys unless they are easy looks or wide open threes. You don't need much from him there. What you need is him to be their best point of attack defender to start off ball games, which gives Kawhi Leonard more legs late to guard Steph to guard Jamal Murray. That's what we have seen. That's
the formula, and it has worked. They are now fifteen and five since inserting Terrence Man into the starting lineup, and remember last season they were ten and four with him in the starting lineup. Yeah, you know, yeah, I mean, like I said, it's a slum. So hopefully you know, he gets out of the slub and and helps them out here. Last question, Adam, I know you've got a lot of calls here.
When is Mason Pumlin is going to come back? I mean they said it was going to be what six eight weeks or now it's been almost like what two months and a half? No, no, no, it's been about six weeks. It's been about six weeks, so it's still within that range. He was doing some on court work three on three earlier Saturday before the Boston game, but he still had a brace on that leg. It could be longer. Thank goodness for Daniel Tice. I appreciate the phone call,
Javier, because Mason Plumbley is needed. Former Hornet I believe one point one stop. I think he was in the dunk contest as a Charlotte Hornet. Am, I crazy. Am I taking crazy pills? No, I think I'm right with that. I'm not thinking of bird Man. I'm thinking of Mason Plumley. But yeah, he'll be a shot in the arm when he returns. We know how much the Clippers needed that true backup season big Man last season to start off that year. When they got him, he was
impactful and he was getting off to a good start this season. And I think in the pick and roll with James Harden, they're gonna have something for the opposition. Plumbley's good in the pick and roll. It may be a more seamless transition than what we saw with the Vitza Zubats next to James Harden, just because Zubats hadn't played with a guy like that close to a guy like that. Plumbley has established some of that in the league, so it'll
be interesting. I appreciate the phone call once again. Hobbyer A sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy. He was in the dunk contest for the Nets in twenty fifteen, as Zach Ocalady corrects me, but a lot of people wouldn't even remember that he was in the dunk contest. It's funny Letny in Inglewood. He's got sneaky ops. Lenny's got sneaky takes. What's up, Lenny? Look, man, I do got some takes here. It's a win. But if we play anywhere near like that against Memphis, they're
gonna beat us by ten. John Morant is a competitor and he's playing with blood in his eyes right and these cats cannot lean back in no way, shape or form. And stop putting it. We gotta stop putting on on Kawhi. You know, max money players do Max money things. And I don't know what in the beat is going on with Paul George, but he's not. He hasn't put together a three game stretch right now. Man, that's like whoa. I mean, I'm gonna say something, man, and
I don't know if it's gonna be well received. But to me, I remember when Kobe was playing and they he had he said that you said, offers to do movies, and also I said he wasn't doing nothing like that because he was paid to win a championship. I don't think it has anything to do with podcast p He's played some great basketball to start off this season. Lenny, Let's not forget Paul George was out playing Kawhi Leonard. Here's what I'm gonna say it is, he was playing huge minutes to start off
this season. He was playing damn near thirty eight forty minutes a night, and then he had the little hip growing injury, and then he had the flu, and he still dropped twenty five tonight and hit five three pointers in thirty seven minutes. You'll take that in the biggest shot of the ball game. To me, the energy is off, bro, and the focus is off. He's an exceptionally talented player, so yeah, he can get hot and get you two three, But to me, it's I just don't see
when Kawhi is out that one a dude stepping up. Did you see it in the one playoffs when he carried them to the Western Conference finals? Just seeing that absolutely? Absolutely, But what are you worried about? Now? What are you worried about these games? Like, we know we can do championship? Man, we won a championship, okay, and it's not And here's the deal. I remember when when when Lebron they won that they won that banner and they were saying they were Lebron. He said, so you
guys are gonna do this. He said no, he said, We're gonna do this one thing at a time. It's early in the season. He said, it's a long way to go. And it's the same thing that Kawhi said. You know, I'm not gonna get too excited about this. It's like it's a long season. But we got to build good habits. And what I'm saying right now, Paul George is not locked in. I
don't see it. I hope he gets it. I really appreciate what Russell Russell Westbrook is doing, not just not just his production, but his decision making. Like Russ is literally he knows if he hits two threes, he ain't hitting the third, and he'll he will do he will literally pass it up well and and look for a better shot. Well. The shot he passed up in the fourth quarter when they gave him all that space and he went to the basket for the layup, that was progress to me. That
was growth. That was somebody who knew that he's no longer gonna get baited into taking those shots. But you gotta be honest, the play has been up and down it times, but he's been very good. I think overall off the bench, I didn't think he had a good game by any stretch of the imagination in Boston or against the Boston Celtics, and in okay see recently. Yeah, well that's true, But I do, like I said,
the breakdown is Kawhi PG. Harden. I actually think Norm Powell is probably the most efficient score after Kawhi because he can do it with ease. Well, and no, I'm saying if you if you look at the statistics bro you give Norm, you give Norm Norm Powell twelve thirteen shots, he's giving you sixteen seventeen points if you're given anything more than he's getting you twenty with ease. So yeah, you know who he's being guarded by. Not
the first player, not the second best defender on the opposition. There's a reason for that. If you put those guys on Paul George, what happens. But okay, I hear what you're saying him there too. But Paul George, unless somebody from the first or second team defensive squad is holding him, he's like tonight he should have had thirty five forty. I was really looking for him to come out and bust out and just bring it. I'm telling you, if we play like Lenny, Lenny, he took twenty five
shots, I'm fine with him taking twenty five shots. That's plenty. He didn't have his most efficient game, he was just ten for twenty five. But I'll take that aggressiveness. If PG thirteen gets up twenty five shots most games, when Kawhi Leonard is out, he's gonna have thirty plus. It's just about how many shots he takes. It's the level of aggression I want to see from him typically and tonight I thought he was aggressive enough. Okay, And then let me say this, I think I think Tyler was doing
the right thing with man. If he ain't there, get him, If he ain't got it, get him out of there. Get Brown in there. Get we got Kobe Brown up in there. Get coffee up in there. Look, man, we can't worry about people's feelings. We could be too centement. We need a chance ship this year. Man, there's no there's no backing down off of that. Man, I don't care. I'm we deserve it as fans. We we we we ride a guy with Clippers Nations for many years and got taken. Take it to the right, right
to the gate and told that ticket wasn't punched. We need a championship. Let me tell you something. If they're gonna win a championship this season, Lenny Terrence Man is gonna have to play a crucial role and star in his role as a role player. They need him. They need him because he is the guy that gives Kawhi and PG breaks defensively all the time, his
scoring is off of the ponice. Yet defensively is there. Yeah, But eventually, when you get into a playoff situation and they have time to prepare and you're shooting sixteen, seventeen to twenty percent, you're gonna be a liability to that squad because they're gonna back up ballon and they're gonna double things are now, Well, all I'm saying is that let's let's you know, I I like what Move's doing. He's he's looking for points somewhere else because I
don't know. And I hope, you know, I hope Kawi's back and we get because we should. There's no reason we shouldn't win all four of these games like we should really because we're favored in all these games. And but like I said, Memphis is coming in here with blood in their eyes. They they look they got a lot of room to make up, and uh, jo Joe is snatching hearts, So I give him. That's one thing I love about him, man, is that he is a competitor.
Yeah, I hear you, Lenny. I appreciate the phone call. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy coming back. We're looking for some postgame audio after the Clippers win one thirteen to one oh four over the Charlotte Hornets. Hey, I get the big picture perspective. When you're trying to win a championship, it's more than just a win. It's how you play, it's who's playing well, it's how you stack up against the league competition.
And I thought the Clippers had a chance to really put a team away, and they didn't do that tonight. They had that against the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this month at home. They eventually beat them, but it was a close ballgame. It would be nice if, like what we saw against Indiana, like what we saw against the Knicks, that they get some easier ones against Sacramento where they'd be up by fifteen or twenty entering the fourth quarter.
We'll see what happens against Memphis on Friday. Not going to be easy. Hopefully Kawhi Leonard's back because John Morant is certainly back, and then some more Clippers suck. Next here on m five seven E LA Sports, the LA Clippers continue their hunt for a LARRYO. B. They still want to get that LARRYO. BA. Don't miss a moment all season long. This is the LA Clippers Audio Network, Flibernation. I'm okay with a win not being a win. You want style points, you want execution, you want
to build good championship habits. But I'm also okay when I see a team that knows they have to take over, find the switch and flip it and go on on twenty nine to thirteen run to end the ball game and win one thirteen to one oh four over the Charlotte Hornets. Here tonight from Crypto dot Com Arena, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Welcome back in the Clippers stock. I'm at a Maslin eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight
sixty six ninety seven two five to seventy coming up. Chuck Mockler from Clips and Dip will be here. But I want to hear from coach lou postgame after the Clippers win by nine over the Hornets. Well, when we was up ten, just a couple of bad shots, you know, shots selection was bad, you know, messing around with the game. Had three chances to go up twelve. I think Zuomi's two free throws turn the ball over,
and they was able to get back in the game. And so you know, just got to be professional, just playing through the game and can't you know, take bad shots, can't mess around with the game when you get up And so we did that. Like I said, Cliffs teams are going to play hard. They're always prepared and organized, you know, exactly how they want to play. And they came back and took an eight point
lead, you know, so it was a good win for US. I thought it was gonna be a tough game coming into it, which it was, but you know, Russell was really good out the bench for US, you know, saved the game for US. I thought James was really good, you know, Zoo was good, you know, better than that second half. But I know it's gonna be a tough game. But it was
a good bounce back win for US. Defensively, we were pretty good outside those last like six or eight points because we didn't want to give up three, so we just kind of stayed at home on penetration. But I thought defensive we were pretty good. And that's about it. If you heard coach Liu at the beginning there talk about be professional, eure up by ten, don't mess around with the game, don't take bad shots. It's extend the lead and put the team away. They did eventually after they got down almost
by double digits in the fourth quarter. But I like that mentality. I like that attitude from coach lou postgame. They want more. They know that they let this one get too close, too close for comfort, being down by seven with nine minutes left. They also knew they had the talent to overcome it, and they did so. Some good with the bad callum a colum b however you want to put it. But overall, you're taking the w fifteen to the last twenty ten of the last twelve. And they got
two more games here on this homestand with two days in between. Both overall Clippers trending in the right direction. When we return here on Clippers Talk, we'll have Chuck Mockler on from C and D. Clippers win one thirteen to one oh four over the Charlotte Hornets. Live from Crypto dot com Arena, I'm out a Moslin and you're listening to Ami seventy Las fours LA clip Where is basketball is on the two one three era continues. You're listening to the
LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Network. Clippers win one thirteen to one oh four over the Hornets. Here at Crypto dot com Marena, I'm at a Moslin. Welcome back into Clippers Talk. We got a little clips in double dip for you. Chuck Mockler is joining the show from CND at Chuck Mockler on Twitter is where you find him. I'm not sure where he could be during the holidays, if you's in Montana, or if he's within a half hour of me, and he could have been here at the game tonight.
Maybe he was here at the game tonight and just didn't want to say hi. I mean, Justin Russo's ghosting me. Chuck comes to games. We don't even take pictures anymore. What the hell's going on? Our pets heads are falling off. Chuck. Thanks for joining me here tonight on clipperstock. Hey, thanks for having me. Can we be a little excited at least as the Clippers snap the two games nap as Lot Murray call on which my thought was a good reference for a two game losing streak that was appropriate.
Look, I'm I'm I'm excited about that. I'm a little unhinged when it comes to you right now, but I guess we'll move past it. So the Clippers come through late after things got dicey. It was a stretch where the Charlotte Hornets were on in eleven to two run to start things off in the fourth quarter. Would this have been the worst loss of the season? Shuck? Uh? Yeah, I think this probably would have been considered the worst loss of the season if they would have dropped this one. I
mean, no, LaMelo ball. You know, I know we were missing Kawhi Leonard, but it's a seven win Charlotte team. Not every game is gonna be pretty. It's, you know, the day after Christmas, so I guess some of this is excusable. But no, this would have been a horrific loss. But thankfully the top end talent for the Clippers kind of tipped the Hornets over. Yeah, they had a foot in the chimney still, but you're right, they came through. Hey, what does it tell
you about this team though? The way they were able to take over late what they had to. We've seen this before. We've talked about a flip the switch mentality and how it could come back to bite them sometimes, but tonight it worked and they obviously were able to flex their muscles late. Yeah, there was some great stuff late from a lot of Clippers. Actually, if you look at Zeus minutes in the fourth quarter, played six minutes,
he was plus seventeen, which is pretty incredible. So you like to see ty Loopull and the rest rings there with who's going to be out there and who's not I you know, Russ played the whole fourth quarter. There was some inspiring play from Luss Russ late in this one, so you like to see him dig deep in kind of sloppy games like this. Right, we were all wondering how they were going to respond after what happened in that last loss, So there was some adversity here, you know, just give them
the schedule and whatnot. But it's it's nice to see the win, and yeah, it's just good to see him win ugly. I guess if that makes sense. We need the wins, and they found it anyway they could. Yeah, diversity reveals character. I thought Russ was especially good in this game and one of the guys that was as you would expect, going one hundred miles per hour the entire time, when I thought there were moments where this Clippers team just let their foot off the gas or just didn't look like
they were fully focused. But Russ was fantastic and down the stretch a big board late when they were having trouble getting one, a block, a three pointer. Gotta beats the zoobots involved. This was one of his best games to me as a Clipper, because I don't know if they win it without him. Yeah, this was you know, James Harden was fantastic in this
one. That was kind of another you know, this is why you trade for James Harden thing, But this is also why you know, you manage Russ's minutes well and things like that, and and you know, trust him when he is playing well and making good decisions and whatnot. So it was awesome to see from Russ. I think you're right. The energy really trickled down from him tonight without Kawhi Leonard and in a game where Paul George was
pretty rough for most of it on both ends of the ball. So it was great to see Harden step up, and it was awesome to see Russ, like you said, have one of his better games in the season. Yeah, full disclosure, it is humility season. And I did pick Terrence Man as my player to watch, and he struggled with his shot once again. I thought he had some really good defensive possessions with rear view contests on Terry Rozier and guarding him man Miles Bridges. But we're all of the assumption
that it's just between the ears. There's nothing physically wrong with Terrence Man. He's just hesitant to take shots. And I think the first shot he took he hesitated on and then missed a short, little turnaround eight footer in the first quarter. But that's what it is right now. I mean, I'm not overly concerned because physically he's okay, but it is a deep shooting funk
that Terrence Man is in, right Jack. I mean, we're thirty games in, you know, we haven't had that many games of you know, Terence starting with the with the guys yet, so we're gonna, you know, I guess take that kind of with a grain of salt too, considering a mere coffees out there kind of in and out, giving Paul George and
cohis availability. But it's it's tough right now. We talk about on the podcast how you can kind of see Terrence Man thinking about every division, kind of every outcome that could happen when he has the ball in his hand, and that usually lower on that outcome option for him is shoot, which is what they need right now. You know, him and a mirror combined for only seven field goal attempts, which you can't do on a night when Kauie is out. Yes, James Harden was hot, but there's got to be
some threat, you know, from some other guys. So hopefully in between now and Friday, they can you know, kind of get them, you know a little more right each and every game as we go forward. I don't think it's going to be, you know, a hard line when we see it really get better. I think we should just look for progress at this point. But we know we can get there, so we just got to continue to have faith and you know, things will look better when Kawi's
back. Yeah, it feels right now, like instead of shooting, he's throwing it. Just it doesn't look the same. He's not in rhythm. The confidence isn't there. Coach Bleu said pregame he talked to Terrence earlier today and he wanted to stress the importance of his defense and everything else he does to help this team, and how the shooting and the scoring is great,
but that's not necessarily what they need from Terrence Man. And it sounded like he was trying to encourage Terrence Man to not let the shooting affect the other parts of his game, because it seemed like the last couple against OKC and the Boston Celtics, I think at times it did affect his defense, maybe a little bit out there that obviously can't happen. I had a call earlier from Lenny and Inglewood is a longtime caller here on Clipper's Talks. All shot
him out. He's one of my favorites. Good voice, good phone. He went after Paul George a little bit. I pushed back because he took twenty five shots, and I'm good with that. It wasn't his most efficient game out there, but without Kawhi instead of taking seventeen like last game,
he got up twenty five in this one and was much more aggressive. But do you think there's anything wrong with PG thirteen right now other than maybe him playing a stretch of a month straight where he was at about thirty eight minutes took its toll. I don't know. Yeah, I mean thirty eight minutes and thick right like he was sick over the holidays schedule has him into kinds of the Clippers. I wasn't super thrilled with his defensive effort to start this
game. It was just a little you know, Kawhi lifts the floor so much for this Clippers defense, but PG I think needs to try and step into that role a little bit more when Kawhi is out. There was just
some lapses mentally that you don't want to see. But you know, forty five percent on eleven threes, You're you're probably never going to be mad at that, right, He hit the most important one when it mattered, which you want to see him, you know, step up in the end of those moments when you need kind of a super star moment after James Harden has done so much too in this game. So I don't if there's anything wrong physically other than we know he was sick. It's you know, the day
after Christmas, We're going to see how he looks on Friday. I think he'll look a lot better. I think there could be something to maybe an underrated part of Kawhi Leonard's leadership. We see it on the court. He's much more vocal there and he had I remember it was the game against Sacramento.
They were up by thirty, and he was calling guys out for miss ces defensively, and he was being tough on guys and I love seeing that, and I think it's missed and I think to expect this team to be as focused without their number one guy, their best player, but also their best on court leader. Like I think it's Kawhi, and I think that's part of the reason the Clippers had been so much better. It was the Kawhi Leonard leadership out there. Yeah, he's leading by example, and I
think you I agree. He has been a little more vocal this season, and his level of play has been, you know, some of the best regular season basketball that he's ever played as a Clipper, which is also helping things as well. Too, but you do hope that the team is just a little more focused. You know, they got it together towards the end, like we said, when things were a little bit too close for comfort.
So at least they got it together then. But it's a bump in the road a little bit, you know, in terms of having one hundred percent solid focus for the whole game. But they did get the win and they focused when they needed to, so let you know, we should all be happy. And we also we have to give a small shout out to Daniel Tice who was five and seven. He didn't look the strongest on the
defensive end, but he did that efficiency in this one. Yeah, I got that technical which I think got him that seven point lead in the fourth quarter. He wasn't happy with some of the calls out there. He was playing very hard and was not being rewarded for it. But five of seven, ten points, four boards like that. I thought. Actually, your guy Kobe Brown had some really good minutes, maybe his best stretch in the first half, and Coach Luke kept him out there because defensively he was being
a menace. Yeah, his size was really on display against kind of a skinnier I guess Hornet's team. Kobe Brown is going to be a matchup nightmare for guys who you know his foot speeds even I guess not as fast because that really is kind of one of the things needs to work on on the
perimeter. But no, his anticipation's great. He had his hand in the passing, laid a couple of times, which was great to see, and some solid point of attack defense, which is something the Clippers do kind of lack, you know, a little bit you know, deeper as you go down the roster. So it was a hardy seventeen minutes. He wasn't exactly lighting it up offensively, but he's doing little things to help him get more minutes, which is what the Slippers team needs, especially with Kawhi Leonard out.
But yeah, it was it was good to see the rookie doing the little things, Chuck. They got two more games at home with two days in between, both here at Crypto Memphis on Friday and then the Miami Heat on January first of twenty twenty four. I mean, it's not till next year, but it's actually much closer than that. What do you got the Clippers going in the next two next two. Man, the New Year's Day game is weird again. You know, it's kind of like this one we
had tonight New Year's Day Big Night. Yeah, exactly. I think they're gonna get I don't know if the Grizzlies can go what are they maybe five and zero with with Joah coming back. I think they get to win against the Grizzlies. And I'm gonna say win against the Heat too. Why not. It's gonna be harder for them to travel over to the West Coast. So yeah, I'm gonna say two or not. Well, that's good. You said they're gonna beat the Grizzlies because I mean Will did say they suck
the Memphis Grizzlies. Yes, that's true. They have one four straight down with Jaw and a couple of game winners from him, including tonight Clippers win tonight one thirteen one for over these Charlotte Hornets. Chuck Mockler from C and
