Transcript

The game is over. Pall George Money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just be gone. Kawhi Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers locker Room, a recap of today's game and a look ahead on your home for LA Clippers Basketball. And now your host, You, sir, are a bad man adam Ousley. Clippers with their most dominant victory of the season. They win one thirty eight to one hundred here in downtown Los Angeles over the San Antonio Spurs. Welcome into your postgame show.

Coming up, we'll get your postgame box score, your second half highlight. You'll hear from the head coach and more of the players. But first back to your voice of the Clippers, Noah Eagle. And you know what, even before that, let's get the idea in. Let's pause ten seconds for station identification here on the Los Angeles Clipper. That's what I'm like to you. This is LA Clippers Basketball AM five seventy KLAC Los Angeles ninety eight seven

KYSR HD to Los Angeles and iHeart radio station. Cheat on you for the ID there, Huh. I apologize, Clippers, not gonna apologize for the four game season sweep over the Spurs, first time since the ninety six ninety seven season. But they do so to night and impressive fashion. Yeah, very much so. And this was an important win for a variety of reasons.

One, you just win four games in a row, and that's obviously imperative to continue to climb in the standings twenty seven and twenty four Now on the season, they I don't know why ESPN has them still half a game back of New Orleans, doesn't make any sense. I just looked, but they are. They should be tied for that fourth spot right now in the Western Conference, only two games back of the third, So they put themselves

in prime position even with that sluggish start. Now you start getting healthier, and again we go back to that Boston example a lot, because the Clippers had the same record of the Celtics. They through forty seven games last year, and it was similar. Celtics dealt with a number of injuries, they dealt with COVID guys in and out the lineup. Well, then they got healthy and then we saw them at their strength, and then we saw them

dominate on both side to the floor. And right now the Clippers are dominating at both sides of the floor through these last four games, certainly the defensive end. In a number of these games, we saw them win games with their defense. Dallas won games whether they won that game with their defense, Lakers on Tuesday, they won that game down the stretch with their defense. And today I know that they shot the ball fifty eight percent. They scored

one hundred thirty eight points. It's great, but defensively they were just as good. A one hundred points allowed, forced fourteen turnovers that led to twenty six points for the Clippers. That's been an area of concern all season where they can't cash in on the turnovers that they forced, and how about only five turnovers for themselves. They took care of the basketball. They were opportunistic.

Sure, this is a Spurs tene that was shorthanded, that was on the second out of a back to back, but you still got to go take care of your business. The Clippers most certainly did that tonight on the two on three connection. I believe this was the first time this season where they had played four straight games together, and you can just see it. They're getting back to where they were in twenty twenty one, where they left off of against the Utah Jazz in that second round series. Adam, I've

used the analogy all season. I said at it again on PMS earlier today. It's some audio. It's the same thing, right, that idea of you beat a level of a video game, or you do something for the first time. It's hard, it's challenging, but now now you have that knowledge, that prior knowledge of how it works. Well, we're seeing what the Clippers looked like in that series against Utah in games three and four. Let's just look at the stat line. Paul George has thirty five, Kawhi

Leonard has twenty seven. You go back a game Tuesday, Kawhi has twenty five, Paul George has twenty seven. Like they now know exactly how to play with one another. Paul George recognizes, oh, I can be a playmaker and a score Kawhi Leonard recognizes I'm still Kawhi Leonard. And that's as important as literally anything that is to me, the most important of any question coming into the season, would Kawhi Leonard be Kawhi Leonard. It's a resounding

yes. It's not just yes, it's a yeah, yeah, he is You start to wonder if he can be even better than ever with the way he's playing with still thirty two games left, he's so ahead of schedule. But I like the fact that for the second straight game, Paul's George takes more shots than Kawai. The aggressiveness out there, thirty five points on just nineteen attempts, five of eight from the outside, and he just put them

away early in the fourth quarter. Yeah, the efficiency was there, but I really liked that stretch to start the fourth You left no doubt to go full Remember the Titans leave no doubt. That's exactly what Paul George did. He just went out there and played like Paul George. And we talked about his aggression all the time because this is what he's capable of when he is

aggressive. And he might not do this every night. He's gonna have some nights where he just isn't shooting the ball at the highest clip, But more often than not, you're gonna get thirty five point performances on nineteen shots. That's why he was a top three MVP candidate a couple of years ago. He finished as a finalist in twenty nineteen because he did this night in the Night Out and defensively three steals he did that night in the Night Out.

He's more than capable. We've talked about it all year, and I don't think that anybody really questioned this. Sure there were some moments maybe of concern, but I don't think anybody questioned that when Kawai and Paul George are healthy, this team's really really good and really really hard to beat, especially when they're playing in rhythm and feeling themselves the way that they have. Again in a seven game series. If these guys are playing like this and you've got

to rondo on the sideline, Kevin Garnett, where are you? Anything is possible here. You roll with those guys. Clippers look to be primed for this six game road trip that will be a tough test, starting with a back to back in Atlanta on Saturday, then in Cleveland against the Cavaliers on Sunday. Tip time Saturday against the Hawks at four thirty. We'll have your Clippers countdown pregame show starting at three thirty. No, it was good to see you. We'll see you back here in a couple of weeks. My

friends, safe travels throughout the road trip and a great call tonight. I'm gonna have separation, Adam. I'm not really sure what I'm gonna do without you guys, but you know eat, we can't wait. Coming up next second half highlights is the Clippers win by thirty eight, largest victor of the season. They take down the San anton Neo Spurs with the final score one

thirty eight to one hundred. And you're listening to the Los Angeles Clippers Radio and the Legacy Son Legacy Oh Paul George LA Clippers Basketball continue as in his pains as he carries the three on the home of your LA Clippers. Wow, it's a wreck altogether better with the crowd number four a second and the numbers went one thirty eight to one hundred here in downtown LA over the San Antonio Spurs. Welcome back into your post game show. I'm at a Moslin

still to come on, Am five seventy LA Sports. We'll have Clippers talk for you. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy. Clippers have one four in a row and they swept the season series and went four and oh against the San Antonio Spurs. First time they've done that since the ninety six ninety seven season. Let's

talk about the second half. Clippers were up big at seventy eight to fifty seven in the first half, that seventy eight number highest scoring first half of the season after they had seventy seven against the Lakers back on Tuesday night. But in that third quarter for the Clippers, it was a Vizza Zoo bots getting into the act on offense. George down the right alley, shoveled inside

SUBOTSA tucks the ram and he drumps the hammer with the left hand. A vizzas soup box ill intentions to the cup ninety three sixty four where he knew was right from two bots crossed over, George getting inside sup box all alone at a two handed rint radler Vizza Zoo Bots and double figures with eleven George with his fifth assist one hundred to seventy one. Big Zoo was six points in that third quarter and was getting passes from PG thirteen and Kawhi Leonard,

who had nine of his twenty seven in the third. Clippers entered the fourth up one oh four to eighty one, and to put things away, it was Paul George taking them home extra fee Jackson another one. George on the right wing for three eight. He's got it. Pg thirteen has been pure all night. Twenty eight for George down the left Ala. George just slithers to the ramp for two. George with thirty in thirty three minutes is eight thirty point game of the season. Makes it one seventeen to eighty six.

Started by Katabates, the up on the outside screen to his left. George stepping was straight away three cash Pg thirteen. It's that type of night. Thirty five points for George timeout San Antonio. Paul George with ten of his thirty five there within the first twelve less than five minutes of the fourth quarter. Clippers run away with this when their largest defeat or win of the season, sending San Antonio to the defeat one thirty eight to one hundred in favor

of the Clippers. Coming up next, we'll give you a preview the six game road trip. The Grammy road trip is upon them as they embark on a six game East Coast swings starting in Atlanta on Saturday. George and Lanna running. You're listening to LA Clippers basketball. Clipper puts it down plus the foul every game all

season long. The hole Clippers with their season high and overtime games. They score one hundred and thirty eight points and win by thirty eight, also a season high over the San Antonio Spurs one thirty eight, one hundred. Your final Clippers close out this homestand in style, although they were technically the road game Tuesday night, I guess Los Angeles Lakers, but they are certainly heading out on the road coming up six game Grammy road trips, starting in Atlanta

on Saturday against the Hawks. Tip sin for that one is at four thirty. Talk. Here's Adam Osla. For the first time since before they drafted Timmy Duncan, the Clippers have swept the season series over the San Antonio's Furs in style. They win one thirty eight to one hundred. Welcome into Clippers Stock. I'm Adam Oslin live from downtown Los Angeles, coming up your phone calls at eight six six nine, eight seven two five seventy plus postgame audio from coach Lou and the players, and William Updyke from Clips and Dip will be

here as well. It's been since the ninety six ninety seven season since the Clippers were able to sweep this team in the regular season series four oh and that year, well David Robinson only played six games had the back injury. They end up getting the number one pick over Boston and draft Tim Duncan. Spurs go to the playoffs twenty two straight years and win five titles. A

model of consistency. Clippers trying to find their own consistency. Not only did they sweep the season series four oh against San Antonio, but they've won four straight and their offense has certainly been clicking in coming into this game. Over their last fifteen contests, they had the seventh best offense over their last fifteen games coming into this one, seventh best offensive rating in the league, and they just scored a season high in a regular season or in a four quarters

of play without accounting for an overtime. One hundred and thirty eight points scored by the Clippers, most they've scored in the game in a non overtime game, one hundred and thirty eight. Largest win, winning by thirty eight. Fewest amount of turnovers on the season, with just five leading to six points. Their all time franchise low is three that happened in twenty twenty one against the OKC Thunder on May sixteenth of twenty twenty one. But just five turnovers.

The turnovers have been down. That has been under the radar type number from this team. Even when they had lost sixth straight nine of eleven, they were taking care of the basketball. They were doing a better job. There a lot of that because Kawhi Leonard has had the ball in his hands, in his sure hands, his large claws. He had twenty seven, twelve of which came in the first quarter as he hit a buzzer beating three pointer in a similar fashion to Terrence Man and the one he hit to end

the first quarter against the Lakers Tuesday night. But Kawhi with those twelve quick points and the Clippers they tied a season high for points in a quarter with forty one, which they had against the Spurs last time out less than a week ago, in a quarter in the first quarter as well. Offense is

clicking in Nino San Antonio. Not a very good defensive team, not a very good team on offense overall, bottom three in both of those categories, But coming off the big victory over the Lakers and winning three in a row and starting to turn things around, and then seeing that you have a six game road trip, it could be a dreaded trap game. The Clippers didn't fall for it, though, the Admiral Akbar it's a trap, shout out Betros and Money. They didn't. They came out with that same focus they

had Tuesday night. They started four or four actually I think ended up six of six from the field to start things off. But there was a quick nine three run and Greg Popovich was calling a time out early in the first quarter. But you could tell the Clippers were moving the basketball. Everybody was getting involved. Kawai and Paul George were playing like superstars. PG had ten

of his thirty five in the first quarter. I beats The Zubots had a quick five points all five starters scored and then Norman Powell had a quick five off the bench, reg Jackson a quick five, and they're up forty one to twenty five heading into the second and what do they do. They put up a thirty seven spot in the second quarter. They gave no quarter.

They won each one tonight and go on to win by thirty eight. But it's the way they're doing it now because this offense for the most part this season bottom three, and all of a sudden, with Kawhi Leonard back, they look like a completely different team on that end. But guys are more decisive out there. They're getting into their offense quicker. The passes are crisper and on point. And we didn't see and I talked about him in the

pregame. He was my player to watch after coming off a game where here I want to say he had four turnovers to four assists. That is not a good ratio one to one there, Paul George Tuesday against the Lakers, didn't matter, they won anyways, but zero turnovers to seven assists in this game, he and Kawhi Leonard combined for fourteen assists to zero turnovers. They combined for sixty two points and do so efficiently. Kawai just needed sixteen shots

to get twenty seven, Paul George nineteen to get thirty five. He had thirty five and thirty five minutes, a point per minute, and in that fourth quarter, in less than five minutes, scored to quick ten points. Was just toying with them and put San Antonio away and made it so Kawhi didn't have to come back in in the fourth and the Clippers were able to get the reserves out there even a little bit more rest as they have the

day off tomorrow and then they'll be in Atlanta on Saturday. This was a dominating win, the type of win you'd say a contender should have against a team that's struggling and near the bottom of the West in the San Antonio Spurs, and now the Clippers, I believe, are tied for the four spot in the West with the New Orleans Pelicans, who are reeling. They've had

some guys out sign Williamson, Brandon Ingram. It's not just the Clippers who've been dealing with injuries so far this season, but things are starting to come together for the squad. Lucannard comes back now there were some troubling signs in the second half from him, and I'm sure he'll hear about it post game from the head coach. But there was a possession and Noah Eagle highlighted it

where the Clippers were a little too unselfish in the third quarter. They were passing the balls, swinging around the perimeter and eventually fell into a shot clock violation when they had multiple open threes and guys were just too hot, potato happy. Luca Nard was one of them. He had an open shot, turned it down, but I think two possessions later, he took that shot off a pass from Paul George and stuck it. That was good to see. It was his only three pointer that he attempted, but he made it.

Finished with five points in sixteen minutes coming off the calf injury. Though. He just wanted to see him try to catch a rhythm and not stand out in a negative way and be a cog in the machine because he just hasn't played enough. But he looked okay. He blended in nicely enough. You still want to see him take more shots than just three total, but he got it. Going out of one of the early time outs. You could see they were intent on getting him a shot. He was the only

starter who hadn't scored yet. He tried to force one, but then later was eventually getting run off the three point line, got inside of it and hit one on the right elbow for his first make back after missing a few weeks now, and he's missed a significant amount of time because that right calf injury, multiple stints out for this team. Great to see him back. Of course, no Marcus Morris right now, which is why he was in

the starting lineup. We assume we'll see what happens moving forward. But Terrence Man was still in the backcourt with him, and he had Big Zoo, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard out there. But everybody was a positive on the floor tonight, literally in the plus minus category. And I thought defensively and know what you Go brought up post game, they were just as good as they were on offense. Holding a team to a hundred points that can score,

that can get up and down. The Spurs don't have a problem with that. And I know it was the second night of a back to back, but they got a lot of youth there, young legs, and the Clippers actually ended up with fifteen fast break points, so the Spurs having just five. Because they turned defense and offense. Spurs turned in over fourteen times. Clippers had twenty six points off of turnovers. But second straight game they've

had over fifty points in the paint. They matched the Lakers there Tuesday night. That was big for them, and they ended up with that forty one point first quarter. They had twenty four points in the paint in the first getting downhill, putting pressure on the rim, Kawhi Leonard, bullying guys out of the way, just moving them with his strength when he wasn't hitting a mid range shot, getting ann once because he was going to the basket.

This is the Clippers team. I think a lot of people envisioned coming into this year the way they're playing right now. But their toughest test is also going to come on this road trip of the season. So far. At least you got Atlanta and then Cleveland the next day, Chicago on Tuesday, Milwaukee on Thursday, the Nicks on Saturday, and then the Nets on Monday. There's your six game road trip. Not gonna be easy, but you can at least say they're finding themselves at the right time. They gotta be

feeling good heading out on the road. You saw Reggie Jackson as the buzzer sounded, he was dancing on the sidelines. Reggie provides the vibes and the positivity for this team. When he's feeling good, everybody's feeling good. There was a moment earlier in the game where they all huddled around Norman Powell, who was showing a little bit of frustration with the officials. Good to see the camaraderie these guys. They never splintered through losing six in a row in

nine of eleven. The leadership is there. You can call Kawhi Leonard a quiet leader. Okay, worked for Tim Duncan. Kawhi learned from the best. That's fine, and sometimes just leading by example is enough. With the effort he gives on both ends. Had another steal and not a slam this time, but a layup. I want to say every game he's had one of those recently where he's just hounding teams on one end, and I love

the defense. On the third quarter. It's easy to let up. And the Clippers only won the third quarter by two points, but that's still impressive. Not to lose any of the quarters when you have a twenty one point lead at the half, and guys were out there giving good effort late in

the fourth. Robert Covington. We noted this during the game, but I don't even mind when he and Nicholas Batoum are going for a block and get called for the foul because they're not giving up easy buckets on the interior late, even when you're up twenty. They weren't. They were playing with a lot of pride out there. Holding a team to one hundred in today's league is not easy to do, no matter who it is. I think the worst offense averages one hundred and seven points per game. But Rocco also had

a ridiculous block on Zach Collins. He finished with three of them. He had four against the Lakers, played twenty one minutes, three or five from the outside. Noah Eagles spoke with him postgame, but this is somebody we've

talked about all season. You know, wondered why he wasn't playing as much, and to be fair, he wasn't playing as well early in the year either, But since they committed to more of the wing stop that we thought we were going to see coming into the season, going back to the Denver game. I know you don't want to think about that where they got blown out, but that was the point, the turning point where coach Luke came out and said, yeah, Roco's gonna get his opportunities. He's made the

most of them. He's starting to play like he did last year. The little things were pretty much always there, but he's starting to hit three pointers, three or five from the outside, slowly getting better and better from distance. Now eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy eight sixty six ninety eight seven two five seventy is the phone number Clippers with their most dominant victory of the season. They win one thirty eight to one hundred over the San

Antonio Spurs. Since they get ready to head out on the road for six starting in Atlanta Saturday. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy or you can get to me at follow Adam Ay on Twitter. Moore Clippers stacked next here on AM five seventy old s fours Stay Oh, Paul George LA Clippers Basketball continue pas in his fains as he carries the three on the home of your LA Clippers Mississippi. Paul George leads the Clippers with thirty five and

they win by thirty eight. Final score one thirty eight to one hundred in favor of the Clippers over the San Antonio Spurs. They get the season sweep over them for the first time since the ninety six ninety seven year Welcome back in the Clippers stock, I'm out of Moslin at eight six sixs ninety seven two five seventy eight six six ninety seven two five seventy's Pg's eight thirty plus point game this season. In his last three games, he's getting twenty seven

per game on Let's be right, Uh, I'll have to read. I'll have to check this because I don't think he's shooting thirty one percent from the field. I'll get that for here, because he's been too good fourteen of nineteen from the outside or from the field in this one, five of eight from three. Kawhi Leonard though twenty plus in eleven of his last twelve games where he's averaging twenty six. Kawhi with twenty seven on ten of sixteen shooting.

It just absurd efficiency and then taking care of the basketball both those guys was seven turnovers or excuse me, seven assists to zero turnovers. I should put it all right, Mike in La Mike, what's up here on Clipper stock without a mosson. You know what was great about to ninety was it's the type of win the Clippers should have gotten against the bad team. And you know, they take care of business in the game they're supposed to take

care of business. And that is great to see because you know, way too often, including I mean just a few days ago against the Spurs that was not really the game. Yeah, this was a team they gave up one hundred and twenty six points to less than a week ago, and tonight they give up just one hundred while scoring more than they did in that for

a game against Antonio. My question though, is, you know there was that scoring prout period towards the end of the third quarter, and you know that's been something that's happened with this team going back to the you know, uh twenty one. He's it And I was curious, do you think that you know, making the move for some sort of you know, I hate to say a more traditional point than you know, Mike Connelly or you know,

whomever would would help with with those types of scoring traps. We've been here before with for Gen Rondo, and I think it did help in the regular season Mike, but obviously didn't work in the playoffs. That couldn't help. Yes, do I think they need anything to win a championship? No. I think the most important thing is that Paul George and Kawhi Leonard play like this, play like superstars. The ball is gonna be in their hands

most of the time. Anyways, They're gonna have a very high usage rating. So if you're bringing in an older point guard now, a guy who was an All Star, Mike Conley or Kyle Lowry, you know, I think they could help. It also depends what you end up giving up for those guys, But I understand. Look, it's called a gamer runs for a reason. Everybody goes through droughts here and there, and yeah, the

Clippers have had theirs. But if you pay attention as close as you do to the Clippers to every other team, you see it all the time as well. It's just kind of fan bias that's built in. But yeah, they've had their issues, you know, this season, but look they've won four in a row, and isn't a coincidence they have now that Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, for the first time this year, have played four straight

games next to one another. I don't think so. I think they're moving in the right direction here and offensively, as I mentioned earlier, seventh best offensive rating over the last fifteen games coming into this one, and that's only going to go up after putting on one hundred and thirty eight points. Are you with me, Mike, I'm with you. It is. It is kind of bizarre that this is the first time you play fourth great games yet, but it is, But it isn't It's what we've seen. This team,

unfortunately, has been snake bit with injuries. The hope is that's behind them. Well, anyway, that Adam, thank you very much for taking my call, and you know this is such a point win, so congrats on that. Well. I did enjoy a thing, but I appreciate it. Mike, thank you for the phone call. Eight six six ninety eight

seven two five seventy eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy. Yeah, this is the type of dominating victory you want to see over our team like San Antonio, but you don't want to minimize it and say, well, they should win like this. It's not easy in this league. The Lakers pulled away from them in the fourth quarter the other night, but it wasn't like this. Slippers got the jump on them from the start and we're up by sixteen after the first quarter. That is not easy to do.

And the Clippers once again hot from distance more consistently throughout this one eighteen of thirty eight from three. That's almost forty eight percent, and they're top five three point shooting team once again. But having only five turnovers, you know they've been trending in the right direction there. And that's what championship teams do. They take care of the basketball. So you want to build those habits.

With thirty two games left as the playoffs approach, we saw some good process and some good results against the Lakers when it was a ten point game and the Clippers come out of that time out, Lebron James can't miss anything and Paul George gets the deflection, ends up with the Kawhi Leonard Steel after some good hustle from PG against Shrewder, and they turn the game back in

their favor quickly and went on an eight oh run. That is the type of stuff that you want to see from a team that has these level of expectations, and so far this season, with just being only three games above five hundred, has underperformed, you could say, But they've also had so many injuries and there's still plenty of time left to turn this around, and it seems like they're doing so. But this road trip is going to tell us a lot six tough games against good opponents, and the Clippers I said

earlier, but I think they're primed for it, but we'll find out. When it four straight before you head out on the road, you certainly take that over the alternative. But again, Kawhi Leonard playing like this, playing like he did in twenty twenty one, I didn't think he'd get here this soon, and he missed twenty of the first twenty five games and he still looks like this, and to be that good on both ends of the floor.

I mentioned it early in the pregame show, but the athleticism he's showing off defensively is impressive to me. And the effort on that end, it's just in him. It's innate. He has to play defense. He has no other option. He's been doing it his entire career. But I think he's inspiring guys out there. Because the Clippers as a team give up just one hundred points. And while I mentioned seventh best offense over the last fifteen games, well twenty six defensively during that time. So this was big.

I don't care that san Antonio holding any team to one hundred points in this league is not easily done. Let's hear from coach Loup post game. Clippers win one thirty eight to one hundred over the Spurs, and here's your head coach speaking with the media. Ty you you guys from me. I think I led this game. I think probably got off to one of your better defensive starts in the game. Is how do you What did you see in the beginning of the first quarter, mainly that you can kind of channel this

moving forward to the road trip. Well, defensively, I thought we did a good job of just understanding game plans, sticking to our principles, taking away to back cuts, you know, taking away the middle drives. I thought we did a decent job of that. And so it's a tough team because they keep in closed our situations. But I thought we overall, we

did a pretty good job or sticking to the game playing. I'm offensively, I thought we took advantage of them double team and got to our space and our right space and moved to basketball and then you know, taking care of the basketball, which has been in one of our problems this season. I'm only having five turnovers. It's huge for us. And so you know, PG and Kauai having fourteen assists and no turnovers is is big. And you know when you're playing three, your your two big guys like that, and

so just continue to keep building. You know, like I said, we're trending upwards, but we still got a long ways ago. You know, we just gotta continue to work and to get to where we want to get to. But I like where we're at right now. Norm has been thrust into a bunch of different roles. Whether it was starting, I believe it was Utah to use our game to back to back excuse me, the Minnesota

games few games ago. He's he's got a good scoring stretch here. What have you seen from him, whether he's starting off the bench, that he's providing you guys, just kind of boost I think, just you know, coming off the bench and having a chance to you know, play through him a lot more. You know, we've been staggering PG and Kawai for the

most part. But Norm's on the floor. One of those guys. You know, they looked at him to carry something that scored load, you know when they get tired, and you know, we could score a bunch of He scores quick. And so when he's a fishing, when he's playing well, you know, we usually play at a high level, and so he's kind of figured out his niche you know, doing a good job of playing through him with the second unit, and he's been playing, you know,

very well for us. It was coach Lupost game Clippers win one thirty eight to one hundred over the San Antonio Spurs. One of those other championship like trades you want to see is coming out and starting fast. Also not just in the first half, and in the second half, and Kawhi was leading them there where he had a long two pointer and then in and one and they were getting Big Zoo involved. He and Paul George George a couple of assists to him. Kawai a nice pass to him that resulted in free throws

for Big Zoo. He had six of his eleven points in the third. I just like the fact that, Okay, we've been beating up on you this way. Here's a different element to this Clippers team. We actually have a guy in the post who can go to work, can get some zul sender like shots, hook shots on you as Noah Eagle would put it, and be a beast in the paint and dominate there. And you also have to reward guys like that on your team that give you that great effort defensively.

You know, Shaq used to always say, dog ain't going to defend the house if you don't feed him. They fed a beata zoobots. I thought he got involved, especially in that third quarter, but he was playing off of their superstars. That's great to see instead of just Kauai and Paul George, who I think did have. They combined for their first eight points of the third. Then it was okay, let's go somewhere else. Now let's add a different way. I mean, championship teams also have some many

different ways to beat you, a multitude of ways. That's big, and the Clippers have that. It's just hard to balance at all with the talent on this team sometimes and finding enough minutes for everybody, but then keeping guys involved offensively. When you do that, you get much better performances, usually on the other end on defense. Clippers win one thirty eight to one hundred over San Antonio quick time out. We'll come back with William Updyke from Clips

and dip. Clippers heading out or six games on the road that's starting on Saturday in Atlanta. I got people on Twitter, this is Chuck Underscore five five five, asking so will Kawai and Paul George play both games with the back to back on Saturday and Sunday. I don't know. Obviously kawais and played a back to back yet so far this season coming off the ACL injury, but last four games has been the longest stretch of the season where both

of them have played every game together. It is a little bit shocking. It's only going to add four. Hoping, of course, Sir Brick comes out of this game feeling good. It looks like they are. They'll at least get to five on Saturday against Atlanta. We'll see what happens from there. But big big road trip coming up that could define some of this season. For them. We're just thirty two games left in the top level competition they're going to see out there on the road and just you're hunkered down,

you're in the foxhole together. Now this team can band together and there's a lot of positive things they're taken with them on that plane out to Atlanta after a victory like this and four green win streak. This is Clippers talk here on the M five seventy only Sports. She don't wanna be low duck skinning at viv Love. The data in that were Love. It was blocked by George. This this LA Clippers basketball. He is a one man record crawl the defensive man on the home of your LA Clippers. Look, I just

flipped the switch. Are the Clippers a flip the switch team? I've asked this question at times this year because of their talent level, because of them not playing to that level, we wondered, are they waiting. I'm not saying that's a good thing, but the time is now. If you're gonna start to make a move in the West, there's room to maneuver. And all of a sudden, the Clippers are one fourth straight and they just won by their largest margin of victory one thirty eight to one hundred over the San

Antonio Spurs. Here in downtown Los Angeles, welcome back into Clippers Talk. I'm Ata Moslin, trying to connect with our friend William up Take maybe he and uh Chuck Monckler already getting started on a podcast for Clips and dip here. But the Clippers I have a season high victory margin of thirty eight against a team that they just snuck past in San Antonio less than a week ago. So if you want to talk about progress, they were better offensively tonight,

they were much much better defensively. And if you think the Clippers are a championship contender, which we do, they didn't play down to their opponent this time. They didn't get into a track meet or back and forth being happy to trade layups with the Spurs. They came out focused like they did against the Lakers, and got off to that quick start four four, just

like against the Lakers. In fact, they got to another level. They went six of six to start things off, and everybody was getting involved. But it starts with a two one three connection. Those two combined for twenty two of their forty one points in the first quarter. Tying a season high for points in a quarter. We just had a call or talk about, Okay, what about trades? What about a point? You get these lulls offensively? Could you smooth out some of that stuff by having a more traditional

point guard next to Kawai and Paul George. We just had this conversation so many times over and over again, and I'm not saying it can't help, but I think the most important thing for this team is with the guy's in house internally, and they're two superstars, first of all staying healthy and staying on the floor, but then getting those reps and playing off one another the way they have the last four games. That's how they're gonna end up winning

a championship because that's why those two guys were brought here. Those are worth the expectations and the bar was set to and they have the talent and look, you can go back to twenty twenty one what it could have should have If Kawhi Leonard doesn't go down, Yeah, I think they win it then. I think most people thought that they took Phoenix to six games without them. I've seen what Kawai can do to Jannis Denna Kompo if they got past

them in the NBA Finals. But to see Kawhi play this well, this soon is the most encouraging thing that we've seen all year long, because the only way they're winning a championship is if he gets back to playing like a top three player in the league and where he was at before the injury. Nobody was playing better in the twenty one playoffs before he went out, but those last two games together with him and Paul George each going for thirty in

games three and four against the Utah Jazz. You're starting to see a continuation of that with those two connecting on the court, taking their turns when to dominate, making the game easier for each other and everyone else. And it's coming together quickly all of a sudden, and that could change on this six game road trip, but the Clippers at least have momentum going into it. That's big. The way Norman Palsman playing and complimenting them off the bench with

his ridiculous shooting is huge. He's now twenty for his last thirty, two from three from the outside, had fifteen points in twenty one minutes just instant

offense. He's so efficient eleven shots to get fifteen, and the ball movement has led to better three point shooting where maybe we see just like last season, where I want to say the Clippers from the All Star break on they were the best three point shooting team once again, coming off a historic year from the outside, shooting over forty one in the twenty twenty one year.

But a lot of those guys are still here, and when their offense is clicking and drive kick swing is working, you see it through wide open shots

that get knocked down from the outside. And we're starting to see it again with the performance they had in the first half against the Lakers fifteen to twenty three Tuesday night from distance, and then tonight a little bit more consistent overall, as they had nine threes made in the first half, nine more made in the second half, eighteen of thirty eight for forty seven percent from the outside. Second straight wire to wire victory. Though here's the number for you

from Dennis Degastino, statistician to the Stars. The Clippers have not trailed for the last one hundred and nine minutes and eleven seconds, basically since the very end of the third quarter against the talas Mavericks. So that last Sunday, I want to say, they've been dominating and they're starting to get off to quick starts. They're not turning the ball over as much. You're superstars are thriving. Role players are playing their roles. They're more comfortable in spots were

they expected to be all season long. Makes sense. Guys are falling in line now and being stars in their roles. But it all happens because they're led by the two one three connection. When those two are going like this, and Kauai has just been on a ridiculously efficient run last ten games, over fifty percent from the outside, over fifty percent from the field, nine percent from the free throw line, and then you add in the defense.

The Clippers are starting to look exactly how you thought they would to start off this season. Maybe a little late, better late than ever, better peak or better to peak towards as you get closer to the playoffs than to get off to a good, hot start of the season and then tail off.

So there's a lot of optimism right now. I think within Clipper Nation, they're playing more wing stop lineups, and even when they have two guys out there and Norman Powell and Reggie Jackson that are smaller, they're insulated by batoum Roco and Kauai. That five man lineup has been much better. That's something it looks like coach Lew has been tinkering with has been working lately. And Reggie Jackson coming off the bench now but thriving twelve points in fifteen minutes tough

layups. Couldn't get a three point to go on this one, but he had a couple of steals and I don't know if it was back to back possessions, but close close to that that were difference makers and just kept the momentum going for him tonight where they were able to get easy buckets and Paul George had that windmill dunk and the Clippers just looked to be surging now and they need to be because it's only going to get tougher from here they're entering.

I think when I looked at the schedule coming into this season, this is the toughest stretch to me. End of January into early February. Good news is only one back to back on the six game road trip starting Saturday and Sunday, but more games spaced out. In fact, they don't have a back to back in February, so more practice, more time for hopefully Kawai and Paul George to be on the court next one another, because guys aren't missing games on back to backs, and they can build up this chemistry

and just continue to play better and better and more refined basketball. That's the hope. Tonight was a step in the right direction once again. They win one thirty eight to one hundred over the Spurs. We'll take a quick time out. We'll come back here and close things out on Clippers stalk eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. I'm out of Moslin and this is a five

seventy l A sports. Paul George LA Clippers basketball continue fains as he carries the three LA Clippers. I don't know will be there coming up, but Jay z on the track cloaking back into the Clipper stock. I've had him. Oslin Clippers went one thirty eight to one hundred over the San Antonio Spurs. One of my favorite players in this one, No Eagle with the perfect call is Kawhi Leonard didn't like a call that went against him at the end

of the third quarter. Didn't think it was a foul, didn't look like one defender basically jumped backwards into Kawiet to draw it exaggerin from the contact. But the very next possession on the other side, kawhis guess the ball in his hands and he knew it was going to stay there. He had something to say after that bad call, and he ended the possession with a fade away jumper from about fourteen feet out, which is just automatic from him, as he was two of six from the outside. So he ends up what

going eight of ten on two pointers in this game. It looks like he's shooting better than ever. I pause to say that because we're talking about our top seventy five player of all time. So it's crazy a little bit, but I'm going to because the one thing you can work on when you got

that lower body injury is shooting. And while it took him a while to get his legs underneath him this season, and just getting a rhythm and catching a rhythm and getting back on the grind after a couple of setbacks with the ankle and the right knee earlier in the year, he looks great his elevations there and so the jumpers fall in the Midia's fallen. Three pointers are fallen now and Kawhi Leonard looks absolutely dominant and the part of a guy who can

compete for in the conversation of best player in the league once again. Tags and Walnut help close things out here on Clippers stock. What's up, hey, Adam. If Quiet was in the NFL, he would lead and pick sixes. Yeah, there's got some some Ed Reid, he's a ball hawk. Two things. One you brought up and you know people have been bringing up, you know, the traditional point guard. Traditional point guard to me

works if you can shoot from the outside. So the Rondo experiment to me and the John Wall so far hasn't worked well because they can't shoot from the outside that well, and which is definitely something to that, because you've got to be able to play off the ball when you're playing next to Kawai and Paul George out there, they can't just be in their right and which is why Reggie compliments on catching shoots really well and which I think he's still kind

of valuable and I would like to see you and stick around because he does fit well with them when they're all together. And the second point is you mentioned, and I also think that this road trip is a big test to see where we're at. For me, what I'm going to be looking at is when we play like Cleveland and Milwaukee, how do we candle their bigs and do we give up a lot of offensive rebounds or can we limit it?

Because because the elite teams, we've been giving up a lot of offensive rebound and second chance points and if we do that, we're not gonna be able to win. So if we can limit that and on the other end, get some offensive rebounds because they're truly believing that you need second chance points to beat these elite teams. So how does a small ball lineup work?

And if not, well we see some Moses Brown for intervals, because I think there is something to having a big play, a traditional big along with a small lineup. It's like the two met center. I would like to see both during that stretch all right day. Just you're right, I think that's something the key in on and look for. That's gonna be a big test for this team before we get out of here. Though, I do want you to hear from Paul George. He had thirty five and thirty five

minutes. Here. He was postgame on Valley Sports with Jamie Mojo. I believe, Paul, you guys put up one hundred and thirty eight points against the Spurs team tonight, fifty eight percent shooting from the field. The offense has continued to impress and improved. What has allowed you guys to get into this rhythm. I think our ability just to share the ball, play together. That's really what it comes down to. I think, you know, we worked out all the little kinks and found the recipe, and the recipe

is everybody touches it. Our offense is going to play at a high level. We got enough talent offensively. We got a lot of playmakers, a lot of scores that can put the ball in a basket. We just gotta, you know, understand that we don't gotta force anything and uh pretty much just let the ball dictate who who shoots the ball, everybody getting in on the offense. But after the game on Tuesday, when you guys were able to hold off the Lakers and get the win, you said that you saw

growth tonight. You guys had that dominant first half and then you never let San Antonio get back in this game. Is that another level of growth for this team? Yeah? Absolutely. Our first quarters, uh, statistically haven't been our best in terms of putting it together on both ends, and our third quarters have been slow where we've kind of eas ease back into the half.

I thought we did a great job the first and a third. We had an approach to put this team away and put him away early, and you know, we we just regardless of who came in, you know, we we continue to just play our style and uh, you know we're able to increase the league season long four game win streak for this team, which is great to see, especially because we're heading out on the road now for six games that Grammy trip. How do you guys carry this momentum over again?

Just one game at a time. I think we're dialing into the game plan. We're trusting the game plan, we're trusting the process, we're trusting each other, and again, it just comes down to take it on one game at a time. We'll get to what we need to get to. But I think we're watching film and we're making the corrections on a nightly basis, So it's it's showing up and it's the reason why we're on a four game win street right now. Fun one tonight. Thanks appreciated, Thank you,

all right, guys. Paul George postgame there on Valley Sports with Jamie Maggio, he has thirty five Clippers win by thirty eight over the San Antonio Spurs, and yes they will be out on the road for the next six I love what they talked about there with growth of this team and how they're developing and how they're trending, and the process of how you can become a championship team is all about building the good habits and you're starting to see him
