This is Clippers Locker Road, brought to you by Cedars Sinai, the official health partner of the LA Clippers, and by Patschonga, official travel casino of the LA Clippers. Breaking down today's action with the pre and post game voice of You're LA Clippers.
They're locking in every game, every night, Adam Osland. Nothing to fear after a scary first quarter, at least does the Clippers go on to shoot sixty percent in the final three periods and they win one eighteen to one oh two here in downtown Los Angeles over the Orlando Magic. Coming up here on your postgame show, we'll have second half highlight your final box score.
But first let's pause ten seconds for station identification. Here in Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network, this is La Clippers Basketball AM five to seventy KLAC Los Angeles, ninety eight seven KYSR HD two Los Angeles and iHeartRadio Station. We're now rejoined by a radio boys had the Clippers in Carlo Jimenez. What a turnaround by the squad, A four for twenty two first quarter Carlow where it looked even worse than that. They were out of sync. The timing was off,
there was no rhythm out there for whatever reason. And then the Clippers were able to lock in those final three quarters. They were excellent over the final three quarters. And it all starts with Russell Westbrook talking about his ability
to ignite this offense. He had fourteen points at one point, he was outscoring the Orlando Magic by himself in that third quarter out of it was excellent to see if Russ get this team going, and you watch tonight and you just think this team is going to get better because they're gonna add James Harden. If all is well with that trade that's supposed to go through. Hashtag scary hours, scary scary time. We still got to come up with a
nickname for the four La guys, but that will come. You can't force though. Somebody came up with west Side connection with them all southern California, and I know Ice Cubes not gonna like that. That is a Laker fan, but tough it works for this team right now. I like it now. I like what the Clippers did. You mentioned Russell Westbrook, how about Paul George in that third quarter as well? And then also knocking down a couple of tough three pointers at least for anyone else in the world, but
PG thirteen made them look easy late in the fourth. Yeah, Paul was the run killer for the Orlando Magic. Every time they went on a little three to zero, five to zero, six to zero run, PG thirteen was there to shut it down, and he did seventeen shots twenty seven points. A different guy, I mean, there's no doubt about it. He just looks way more locked in through these first four games. I'm really interested
to see what goes on tomorrow at them. I feel like we're kind of waiting for who knows what for tomorrow's contest on the back to back endst the Lakers, but head coach Heron lu talked about it all day to day. The focus was today. The focus was getting it done today, and they got it done today. Yeah, and not easy. There could have been
distractions. There's guys in transit. There's a trade happening that has yet to be made official with James Harden. But the focus the last three quarters and really hitting that reset by the Clippers where they got back to their principles even without Kawhi Leonard having an off night. That's what impresses me most. He can go three for eleven and you can still win a game by sixteen points over what I think is a tough, scrappy Magic team that is going to
be right there in the playing tournament in the Eastern Conference. This season, the Magic were two and oh coming into these last two games, and they had a chance to be three to oh with a shot at the end to beat the Lakers as a very good Orlando team that's got their sight sets on the postseason, and that's a good win if you're the Clippers. The Magic came in at him one of the best offensive rebtting teams that had nothing going on the offensive glass. Tonight, they came in as one of the best
teams with points off turnovers. Clippers did a good job, especially in that second half, cleaning up the turnovers. If I'm head coach Scheronlou, I'm very happy about that win. Didn't start like you wanted, but it ended like you wanted. Clippers finished strong. They win one eighteen to one oh two over the Orlando Magic here at the crypton Halloween. As Carlo mentioned, they're running it back. Tomorrow is the battle for Los Angeles Round one of
the twenty three to twenty four season tip off against the Lakers. Right here, where technically the Clippers will be the away team, is at seven. We'll have Clippers countdown for you starting at six. Carlo, my friend, great call. Let's do it again tomorrow. Oh, let's do it again tomorrow, Adam, with a little more on the line, Battle of Los
Angeles. Here we go, Babes. Yeah, Clippers win tonight by sixteen over the Orlando Magic, and underman shorthanded Clippers team that started four of twenty two was able to get up by as many as twenty in this one and win comfortably. More postgame coming up next. Second half highlights for you from Carlo Jimenez. As you're listening to the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network, loading Clippers fully loaded with Clippers fans. This is LA Clippers basketball. You're listening

After starting off a ball game where they were just four for twenty two in the first quarter, the Clippers would go on to win ten to one oh two here in this first end of a back to back over the Orlando Magic. As we'll see the Los Angeles Lakers. Right back here tomorrow. Welcome back in. I'm Adam Oslin. This is your post game show. Clippers locker room still to come. We'll dig into this final box score and we'll have Clippers talk tonight.
Got a feeling people are gonna want to talk about not my beard, but someone else's and James Harden who was in the building tonight, as we're still waiting for that trade to become official. But the Clippers officially flipped that switch in the final three quarters as they were, believe it or not, trailing at the half Buy three two Orlando. After that slow start, it was fifty to forty seven, but in the third PG. Thirteen started to
take over. On the farm wing Clippers is the wat back and who right George step back right wing three gets it to go, Paul George with a little extra sauce on that one. Sixty six fifty nine Clippers five forty to go. In the third window, Parner hit the decker, takes it away, Slippers with numbers west Part tried to spread the needle his path. He gets it back George right corner three fall lie back to back Paul George tiling
from long distance ten o Clipper run time out. Orlando Georgia crossed the timeline a couple of dribbles behind the back, working on eighteen points, watched by Fronz Bogner straight away three pun x PG thirteen's up to twenty one. Clippers up eighty five sixty eight nine to shoot offense starts with eight left elbow George with five Cooks Wagner left wing three fall die Paul George gives a high five
to Toronto Loo Bedley buries it from downtown. Eighty eight sixty nine. Clippers lead eight point five to go. In the third, Paul with twenty four today into the paint, he goes, throws it all the way left corner, pale open for three rattles in and out. George impends every rebound in the left corner. He wants to triple himself. He gets it. Paul George all cords one oh six eighty nine. Clippers utes the going up. Carlo Jimenez on the call PG thirteen with four of his six made threes in
that third quarter alone, where he dropped fourteen points. Russell Westbrook was seven of nine in the quarter. He had sixteen and after three After trailing by three and a half two, the Clippers led eighty eight to seventy one heading into the fourth. They would go on to win one eighteen to one oh
two over the Orlando Magic here in downtown Los Angeles. Coming up next on your postgame show, we still have Clippers talk for you eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy But next to your final box score and we'll focus on those last three quarters by the Clippers. I'm Ada Moslin. This is your Clippers locker room postgame show
right here on the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network. The LA Clippers continue there hunt for a Lario b. They still want to get that Larryo beat. Don't miss a moment all season long. This is the LA Clip Audio Network Clippers with the victory over the Orlando Magic tonight, they went by sixteen with
the final score of one eighteen to one oh two. After starting off this ball game shooting just eighteen percent from the field, they were four of twenty two in that first quarter and then shot sixty percent from the field the rest of the way. They ended up at fifty percent from the floor. Forty five percent from the outside, fourteen of thirty one shooting from three. It helps when BOMs Highland, who got the start, was four of seven,
Paul George was six of nine. He led them with twenty seven points. Kawhi Leonard just eight points on three of eleven shooting, just couldn't find a rhythm. Didn't matter, did other things to help out this ball club eight boards, three assists, was playing tough defense out there as the Clippers really rammed things up in that third quarter and got some separation, winning it by twenty at forty one to twenty one. Coming out of the half, you
could just see there was a different mentality from this team. Thought. Russell Westbrook had a fabulous ballgame points in five steals plus seven assists to just three turnovers and had oh sixteen, was eighteen in the third quarter alone off the bench. Norman Powell was seventeen. You heard him with Carlo Jimenez postgame.
Mason Plumley a good one ten points, ten and seven and just twenty two minutes of play, and Kobe Brown knocked down another three pointer, went three or four from the field with seven points, and right now they're undermanned there's obviously a trade that's still in the works and hasn't been made official yet for James Harden and the Clippers still find a way to beat a young, tough, scrappy magic team that gave the Lakers all they could handle last night here
just losing by three. Clippers take on the Lakers tonight or tomorrow night. I should say it's not that late yet East Coast listeners, it'll be tonight, but on the West Coast still got a little bit of time. Tip off for that one tomorrow Here at the Crypto dot Com Arena, we'll be at seven. We'll have Clippers countdown starting at six. Outside of Los Angeles, we are leaving you until then. After it looked like the Clippers were dressed as stormtroopers with their poor shooting in that first quarter, they would then turn things up a nash and shoot sixty percent in the final three quarters and go on to win by sixteen here at home over the Orlando Magic with a final score of one point eighteen
to one oh two. Welcome in to Clippers Talk. I'm Adam Mosland. I know it's been kind of a whirlwin the last twenty four hours. Now Clipper Nation, and if you'd like to get on tonight and talk about their latest acquisition that is still unofficial and James Harden, we can do that tonight. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. He was in the building. He was in the locker room. There was a jersey for him already.
And I don't know if the Clippers were distracted just out of sync because they had different lineups and a different rhythm out there. Trying to get used to guys. Even though bones Hiland got a start in the preseason with the same starters, for whatever reason, they couldn't figure things out in that first quarter. It was a horrific start to this one on Halloween, to say the least. I want to say. They started oh for eleven from the field.
Their first make was from Bones Highland. He finished with seventeen points. But the Clippers caught fire after a sluggish first quarter where they looked completely inept offensively. And I tweeted it out, but I said, if they wanted to make the case that they needed James Harden, they're doing it right now. But it does look to be in the works and finalized at some point
here in the next twenty four hours. You would expect as I mentioned, he walked through, was in the suite, had a jersey up in the locker room. I guess just dott and eyes and crossing t's at this point. But you got to be excited cliper Nation. You bring in a top seventy five player, and I know it's been a little bit polarizing for some They don't like his style of play or the baggage off the court. Things but there's no doubt that James Harden makes your ball club better and especially raises
your floor in the regular season. And that's huge for a team that has the toughest schedule. And I say that because they have twenty five instances of three games in four nights. They have twenty five instances of three games in four nights. They have to figure out a way to navigate that schedule, and that means more high end talent because you know there's going to be nights where Kawhi and Paul George are likely missing ball games. They obviously haven't been
able to go eighty two every season for the Clippers so far. They've been injury prone. It's been unfortunate. So stack talent and have insurance policies, and that looks to be part of the game plan here from the Clippers. They added Russell Westbrook last season, picked him up around the trade deadline, and now James Harden is here. Four guys from southern California coming together to
try to win the Clippers their first championship. Special guys that have played together, some of them James Harden and Russell Westbrook going back to their OKAC days. And then in Houston, there will be some familiarity there, But I just think James Harden is somebody that makes the game so much easier for everyone else out there. If you look at his track record, I know some are going to say, well, what about those playoff games where he comes
up small? Okay, It's happened here and there. He's also had spectacular games, like multiple forty point games in the second round against the Boston Celtics last season, one of those coming without Joel Embiid. With the Clippers, he's not the second option, he's the third option. Having a guy that just led the league in assists last season be your third option. A three time scoring champ, top seventy five player of all time, ten time All
Star, a twenty eighteen MVP winner. That is an embarrassment of riches that the Clippers are gathering here to try to extend their window in the two pine three era with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. We know it's been disappointing overall so far. It's been defined by injuries. Gotta be honest about that. But you want to talk about a team going all in and still trying to win it in a difficult era where there's a lot of teams that have gotten
better in the Western Conference. The Nuggets chemistry looks off the charts to start off this season, coming off their championship run even without Bruce Brown. The Phoenix Suns while struggling and with health and the Spurs coming back on them tonight, but they added Bradley Beal. The Los Angeles Lakers, they focused on continuity, bringing their guys back and then bringing in someone like Torrian Prince.
Christian Wood Clippers will see them tomorrow. The Golden State Warriors added CP three. They're off to hot start. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse. And I think the Clippers saw that, looked at the teams around him, saw the moves they made, and said we got to keep up.
And they went from being out of the conversation with most of the national media being a serious contender or a second tier contender to now being one of the top teams in contention to win the championship, and some bookmakers have them as the odds on favorite now after this move, which is yet to be finalized for James Harden. So let's talk about it tonight. Eight six, six nine eight seven two five seventy eight sixty six nine eight seven two five
seventy is the phone number. We'll take a quick time out. We'll come back. We'll get to your phone calls on James Harden on this big Clippers victory after a slow start over the Orlando Magic where Paul George and Russell Westbrook were instrumental in that third quarter they combined for thirty of the Clippers forty one points. And I felt like Russ from the second quarter on to help ignite this team with his energy. It was infectious out there making hustle plays.
He had a play where he saved the ball from going out of bounds. Clippers got in transition and eventually Paul George would fall to his backside, didn't get the call, but made a circus layup on the other end. He started to get it going. But this is a different look that we have seen mentality wise from this Clippers team this year as opposed to what we saw last season. They look more locked in, focused and are playing a physical
brand of basketball. Or it's about their defense, and it starts there leading to runs and easy buckets on the offensive end, and we you score only thirteen points in the first quarter and end up in the last three quarters scoring one hundred and five. That is impressive. Clippers got a ton of firepower and just added James Harden. More Clippers stock coming up next here on a five seventy LA Sports floating Clippers fully loaded with Clippers fans. This is LA
Clippers Basketball. You're listening to the LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio network here at Crypto dot com arena. As the Clippers improved to three to one. Game five coming up tomorrow against the Los Angeles Lakers right back here after they got a day of rest, beat Orlando by three last night, and now they're waiting for the Clippers and have lost eleven straight in the battle for Los Angeles. Coming up, you're gonna hear from coach Lou Believe we have
some postgame audio. Chef Moth from Clips and Dip will be here. But let's get to your phone calls. On a day where the Clippers get an impressive victory considering how slow they started, historic stuff, four of twenty two shooting in that first quarter, yet are able to turn it around and shoot sixty percent the rest of the ball game. I know it's just the Orlando magic, but they also lost to this team twice last season. Can't underestimate
overlook anyone. And there's just a different sense of urgency and intensity out there on the court. I think a lot of that as the Russell Westbrook effect, but just things that they have preached during training camp, during the preseason they're playing out now in the regular season. Let's go and start with Pam in Temple City. Pam, what do you think of this Clippers victory? What do you think about James Harden? Well, I'm very happy. First
of all, blessed Halloween to you and Clippers nation. I have a couple of comments and then the questions. My comment as far as James Harden is, you know the Clippers, they have the chemistry. I think this chemistry that their Clippers have will help be helpful to James Barden. Maybe it'll do away with some of his baggage because you know, we are the company we keep. So he was a good team now a gracious team, and I think it can only mean good things. And I also can't seeing if about
Tron Lewis his chiropractic and adjustments. You know, I know that during halftime. He must have really made some adjustments for the second half to turn out the way it did. And it's just it's just nothing short of spectacular to me. I'm really happy, as you can tell. And my question is the two questions are who did who is James Harden replacing? And my second question I'll get out of your hair, is what's the situation with no Eagle?
What is he doing now with the organization? And I thank you so very much for listening to me. All right, Pam, Well you can catch the young goat Noah Eagles Saturday nights. Big ten Saturday Night on NBC is where you find him on college football games. Later this season. He'll also do some filling work with the Brooklyn Nets when his father is out. He'll tag in Noah Eagle, which is pretty cool. I'm sure we'll see him here at the arena. He'll be on the show at some point.
James Harden was more of an addition where he didn't take away a position from anyone necessarily because the guys that they moved were all at the four spot in Marcus Morris, Roco, Nicholas Batoum and kJ Martin. And I should say It's tough to see those guys go. And I know how Clipper Nation feels about Nicholas Batoum, in particular Saint Nick. He gave us a lot of great memories here. He is an all time Clipper favorite, a guy that
came into the situation. Met him in training camp in twenty twenty that late start to that season, and nobody even knew if he would make the team. He was let go, basically bought out by the Charlotte Hornets, and he turned into one of the most valuable players, one of the most important players during that Clippers playoff run to the Western Conference Finals in twenty twenty one.
Roco obviously didn't play a ton last season, but was starting to get minutes for this team after Terrence Mann went down in the starting lineup, as he was named the starter in preseason, Robert Covington filled in admirably. He'll
do good things back in Philadelphia. He's a former sixer. And I know many of you soured r Marcus Morris after a three month stretch where he just did not look like himself at the end of last season, but I would say focusing on how well he played for this team during that twenty twenty one playoff run. Where do they make the Western Conference Finals without him hitting seven three pointers in that game seven against the Dallas Mavericks in the first rounds,
I don't think so. Marcus was doing all the little things to help this team and then performed well when Kawhi Leonard went down with the knee injury and he had to start taking more shots and be more of a focal point on offense. Obviously, kJ Martin, it was a short stint here. He's a very good young player. Sky's the limit, not just because of his
leaping ability, but wishing him the best of luck as well. But you can bring in somebody like James Harden with only giving up one of your first round picks and retaining Terrence Man. That is impressive work by this front office who played this exactly like they should have the right way, as you would expect Lawrence Frank, former Executive of the Year. They waited and they didn't have to give up Terrence Man eventually after the season started, when maybe months
ago it would have taken Man to bring in Harden earlier. Jabbier and the Hobber Heights. You're on Clipper stock without a Masen. What's up, Hobber? Hey, what's upout? Thank you for taking my call again. You know you considered it's the trade with Harden. He cannot give up a man and to give up like you said or forwards. I mean it's not not bad, it's a it's a good trade. I mean they have to do
something. I mean it's just this time is running now and James Harden, honestly, I think what what I'm in my opinion, what tre nerding around with that gimmick ins Utah When remember that get with a couple of days ago when Dixon closed the game. I think when James Harten with the team now, he's gonna be able to take the last shot. I'm not seeing Kawhi and Paul Thorstman do it, But it seems like the ball and James Harden had with thirty seconds a minute left, he could do something with the ball.
What do you think about that? Well, I don't know. If he's obviously hit some game winners, he's hit some big ones in the playoffs as well, But I think you're still going to be looking at Kawhi Leonard taking those shots, Paul George taking those shots, those are your main two superstars scorers. James Harden is thirty four years of age. He has lost a step, but he's adjusted his game accordingly because he doesn't need to be the offensive threat he used to be in Houston. He has to set the
table more now. He was doing that for Joel Embiid helped him get an MVP last season. He was doing that at times when they were fully healthy with the Brooklyn Nets next to Kyrie and KD where he took a step back offensively and went into playmaker mode. So that is I think what they need most, just getting Kawhi and PG to their spots, making life easier for them. Eight six six nine eight six six nine seventy is the phone number Danny in Long Beach. You're on Clipper stop without a Mason. Hi,
Danny, Hey Adam, first time faller. I always listening to you all the time and catch a podcast all the time as well. I just wanted to kind of comment on how they came out tonight. It seemed a little flat, but considering that they lost a lot of their brothers in arms who they went to war with, I think they did all right. They came back and snapped out of it, and all in all, it was a good game, especially for with Orlando. They they always seem to be like
a trapped team that we lose to when we shouldn't be. And just overall, what your thoughts are on Russell right now, it seems like on the outside looking in, if if you didn't know this team, I mean, he seems like he's the he's the glup right now, and I think, you know, take some shots away from him or Harden, how are that going to go down? I think Rested definitely be handling that ball quite a bit and moving forward. And also the new guy that we picked up on
that trade. Look at his film, it looks kind of pretty good. Interesting, wonder if we're gonna hold onto him or he's gonna go to Ontario. All right. I appreciate the phone call Danny. A couple things there.
Yeah, when you have if they start things off with Russell Westbrook next to James Harden in the starting backcourt, that means Kawhi and Paul George are moving up positions, something I was in favor of all summer long, just like I was in favor of them bringing in James Harden to just have a major talent upgrade and to make life easier for everybody out there on the court. Obviously, Russell Westbrook has his limitations with his shooting, although he's been
good with the Clippers. He did goh four tonight from distance. But I think his entergy and that vocal leadership is invaluable from Russ. That's what this team has needed since they lost Patrick Beverley, one of my favorite all time Clippers. Just somebody that can get those competitive juices going because of how hard he plays out there. That's what becomes infectious. When you see your teammate
going that hard, it inspires you to start playing harder as well. And Russ's defense has been more than solid so far to start off this season. It's kind of carried over from where he was at against the Phoenix Suns, where at times he was going after Kevin Durant with the blocks to start off ball games, Devin Booker two of course the end of Game one, throwing
it off him out of bounds. I just Russ has been night and day different than what you saw with the Los Angeles Lakers, and I think it's mostly just fit right fit for this team didn't work out with the Lakers. He'll see him tomorrow. But James Harden can also play off the ball. He shot forty one percent almost forty two percent on catch and shoot threes last season, thirty eight percent on pull up, off the bounce three pointers. That's just an area he thrives in where Russ doesn't. And James is an
all time elite playmaker as good as Russ is. James Harden the pick and roll is death. The way he can make life easy for guys. I think he's gonna help with beats of zoobots out a ton, but James Harden, with those pocket passes, bounce passes, he has made life easier for guys like Clint Capella over the years. And if you were talking about PJ. Tucker there, I'm excited about this. PJ. Tucker has been one of my favorite players that I was always hoping the Clippers could pick up because
of his toughness, attitude, defensive mindset. And while he's had some slippitche he's thirty nine years of age. That's going to happen. It's natural. This is somebody that's still shot forty percent from three on a limited amount, but that corner three. He's made a living off of that. I pulled some video though earlier today. This was interesting. He was with obviously Philly and James Harden last season and there was a game where he played spectacular defense
against Nikola Jokic. And I think there's gonna be moments where PJ. Tucker can be a weapon for them defensively, offensively, it's a corner three or nothing right now from him. But we've seen guys who looked like they were about done. Nicholas Batoum, same thing was it about him? Reggie Jackson, same thing was it about him? They get into this Clippers culture and they turn it around. I think PJ. Tucker could be the next guy
for that eight six, six ninety seven two five seventy coming back. We'll get coach Liu. You know what, We'll play him right here. Zacho Kalady's in control here, I'm the captain. Now. Let's hear from coach Lou post game after the Clippers win one eighteen to one oh two, after the Orlando Magic, wh I did throw? What do you attribute that to? Just how they were doubling them like an off night? What did you
see from Orlando's defense? That uh probably gave Kawhi a slower night then we're used to saying he looked tired of me tonight, you know, just you know, he's been playing with a pace and with a with a force, and I just thought tonight he just looked kind of tired to me. So I'm not really sure, you know, but you're gonna have off nights and you know it's part of the game. And still have a off night,
still be plus eighteen. You know, it just means, you know, defensively, we did some good things, you know, and so you know, we have a time of team. It could be Pg's night, Kawha's knight, could be Russ's knight, you know, and just you know, just playing the game. You know, Kawhy doesn't care about numbers, you know, he just he wants to win, and so that's what he does. And you know, so hopefully he can recover today and it's kind of
see how it feels tomorrow. There was a play in the second half of the third quarter. Kawhi is struggling, hasn't hit a shot yet, and he is jumping back and forth between guarding multiple guys and then another play balls on the floor Kawhi Leonards there for the board, just battling among the trees, gotten a big offensive rebound at one point, and I just thought to myself that that's who he is. He can't turn it off. It doesn't
matter if he's not hitting shots. This is somebody who made his bones on island. But in his young career on the defensive end with the San Antonio Spurs, with doing the little things to win, that environment, that culture he was in was perfect for him, and it still remains. On an off night, shooting Kawhi Leonard can still affect and impact the game in so
many different ways. There was Coach Loupo's game coming up next. Back to your phone calls eight sixty six ninety's seven two five seventy, eight sixty six ninety. It's seven two five seventy and we'll have Chuck Mockler on from C and d clips and dip. Clippers win by sixteen after they had just thirteen points in the first quarter final score win eighteen to one on two over the magic taken on the Lakers in the Battle of Los Angeles tomorrow right back here,
I mean, where else would they play? That's weird. The Pond, Ontario. Come on, Clippers, doc is what you're listening to. And I'm Adam Oslin. This is a five seventy LA Sports loading Clippers fully loaded with Clippers fans. This is LA Clippers basketball. You're listening to the LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Network. Clippers went one eighteen to one oh two here at Crypto dot Com Arena. Happy Halloween. Hope you didn't
get any whoppers or mounds bars. Maybe blessed with Reese's. That's what you need, some sour patch kids. I might be looking at some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Lator don't I deserve it? Carlo Amenez said I did, and he called a hell of a game tonight. Carlo made it a Halloween special for everyone here at the crypt and listening on the radio. We appreciate you guys. All right, let's get to him. Chuck Mockler is joining us from CND. We did a podcast an emergency one earlier today.
I mean early, it was like eight thirty or nine am. I still haven't recovered from that. I need naps now, okay, But Chuck, it was fun earlier today talking an hour about James Harden and then seeing him in the arena tonight. He's already got a jersey waiting for him. I know the trade is still yet to be official. Maybe there will be another
earthquake and then it will be although I hope not. But uh, let's talk about this Clippers victory, winning by sixteen after one of the worst opening quarters I have ever seen in my seven years here with the ball club. How'd you view it? I mean you nailed at what were they won for eleven or something like that? Oh for eleven is start four two in the first quarter. Yeah, it was bad basketball on both sides. I can't believe they ended up scoring one hundred and eighteen points after what we saw in
that first quarter. But I mean, I said this on Twitter, but if you sat through that first quarter, you were rewarded with the best third quarter we've seen in a long time, especially from Paul George and Russell Westbrook
combined. That was when the Clippers really put all that offseason talk, I think, in front of everybody who was watching the game, and said, we did come here to you know, right some of the wrongs from last year with how we play in these games, and you know, bounce back from certain performances, and it was great to see Paul George in that third quarter, had fourteen points after having ten in the second quarter, and was
just so silky smooth with it tonight. Tonight's one of those nights where I say he looks like a six to eight Steph Curry at times with the handle. The shooting ability went six of nine from the outside and just make it. He made it look stepforless. You could say, I'm not gonna say that. You can say that all you want, but yeah, PG was great thirty two minutes too, which is nice to see. He played the whole third, which if you watched the third, that made total with what
he was doing. So happy he got that extended rep in the fourth, and you know, Tyler said, we were gonna, you know, they were gonna see how you know, Kawhi and Paul George felt, and then well, you know they'll judge from there. But I have a feeling Paul George is gonna want to keep the top streak going, and I have a feeling Kawhi Leonard is gonna want to bounce back from his potentially worst shooting game of this whole year. Even you know, in this early part of the
season. Yeah, we'll see what happens their first back to back. I'm intrigued. They both played just under thirty three minutes. Bones Highland the same, Russell Westbrook the same just under there. Speaking of Bones, he hit their first shot like in a night where oh, I don't know, the Clippers are oer for eleven to start, Bones was still just fearless, like he was still putting them up and feeling like that next one is going to go in. That's one of the things I love about him and Bones.
Having seventeen on Halloween also seems fitting. Yeah, I mean it's funny looking. I'm looking at the first quarterbox where right now in Bones and make only Clippers to make shots in that claer So hey, we needed that fifty percent from him. But he's I mean, you know, he's what He's the skeleton key to this team, as we I think said out the other day on Clips and Dip like this, this young energy is great to see.
He's gonna get more playing time at least right now. We think there's still some in limbo with these lineups, but he's doing everything he can to make a strong case for more minutes, even when James Harden gets on this team. I thought Russell Westbrook had a hustle play in that second quarter that just kind of embodied who he is since he's put on this Clippers uniform and really who he's been in his entire career outside of that stint with the Lakers.
But he jumped out of bounds and saved a ball that was about to go out of bounds, laid out for it a little bit, and then on the other end, Paul George had that crazy circus shot where he couldn't draw the foul, but it ended up getting it to go, and then it was yession or two later. Russ was setting up the offense and made sure to get it to a Viza Zubas on the low left block who got a layup. I just he was started one for seven and then went seven of
nine for sixteen points in that third quarter alone. But he was first looking to get other guys involved and make those hustle plays, and I think his spirit is something that Clippers haven't missed since Pat bev. Yes, that's been great. He had. There was one rough possession. You know, you don't like to see the zero four from three, but at the same time,
there was only four not that big a deal. But you're right, I mean, this is he's doing everything we've we've needed since Pat Bev has been gone, right, Like, this is actually you kind of got to buy into this. Now. You didn't think that Rough's energy was going to change the team. It's absolutely made a difference. Other guys are feeling it. Bones gets to learn from Russell Westbrook and stuff like that. So, and with who we're playing tomorrow, it's going to be interesting how he follows
up this performance tonight. Now, I believe Russ had that huge block early on on Man Carro also a bit of a tone setter. As bad as the Clippers were in the first quarter the Magic, they weren't much better. They only scored eighteen points. Uh. You mentioned Kawhi Leonards struggling and maybe he'll want to get things back tomorrow against the Lakers. But this is a team that has beaten the Lakers eleven straight times. It's been different guys doing
it. It hasn't just been Kawhi and Paul George out there for all of those games. It's kind of a remarkable winning streak. Not going to be easy on the second night of a back to back, But just what are some of the things you're keying in on seeing from this Clippers team in their first back to back opportunity. Well, going for the Battle of Los Angeles, well, we obviously know we hope more of the same from Paul George
and Kawhi Zoo played twenty two minutes tonight. I think they're probably going to lean on him for more tomorrow, so I'm hoping Zoo can kind of. I think he had seventeen and thirteen last time we played the Lakers, so I'm not saying this should be a bounce back game for Zum. He didn't have a bad game by any means. He just only took eight shots, still grabbed nine boards and had a pretty assertive block late in this one. But I think he's gonna be key early. We hope that his physicality without
fallon can be there. Bones starting is going to be interesting to see again, you know, the Lakers are a bigger team. And then off the bench, I don't know what his mints are going to look like in a game against the Lakers, but Kobe Brown has the highest plus minus of anyone on the bench for the Flippers and I played nineteen minutes. Winning basketball is what he does and maybe fouls too much, but he might get some run,
I don't. We definitely need to start a little hotter. I will say that we did against the Magic, but Kawhi is going to be motivated. I think he's gonna set the tone defensively early and we're gonna get those ross hustle plays. I'm hoping that the energy isn't, you know, too big for some of the these guys where they're playing a little too tight from just being so focused on getting the twelfth win or something over the Lakers.
But it'd be great to go to and on this back to back. But I wouldn't be happy or excuse me, I wouldn't be super upset if if we end up splitting with good process against the Lakers tomorrow. Right now, it looks kind of like a schedule loss given the guys that are not with
the team in transit due to the trade with James Harden. Just anything else you want to say about James Harden that we didn't cover earlier today, Something during this game that made you think about, Okay, he can help in this area with the Clippers well, we watched Russell Westbrook have an absurd third quarter tonight and Paul George in a game where Kawhi Leonard went three of eleven, and we just the Clippers just added another guy who can do things like
that when two of the stars aren't having a good night or one guy's not having a good night, we got a floor razer. If you were upset about the off court stuff. At this point, we just have to go with the We have to move forward and hope for the best. This is his last best shot at a ring. This is you know, some people say two in three one of their last shots at a ring. So hey, it's it's all or nothing, so let's go for it. He is Chuck Mockler. Follow him at Chuck Mockler on x and you can watch him
on YouTube on the C and D live feed. We did today talking about James Harden. We'll have another episode coming up, I believe on Thursday. Charles, thanks for coming on Clips and Dip for some double dip tonight here on Clipperstock. Thanks for having me all right. Before we get out of here tonight at the Crypt, I do want to say Happy Halloween to the fake philosophers. We got some positive moments with big brother Jake Warner. What's up, Jacob, Yes, sir, everything's good. We got a dub.
But here we go with some knowledge. It's better to jump and make a mistake than to sit there too frightened to make a move. Yeah, but you're not supposed to leave your fear before a pass like that's not good for basketball. I get it. Life. Oh, I know. VTB was on this broadcast as well. You see the brick speaking of back in Burbank, Zach l calledy Zach. You won't play a little one on one with big Bro Jake as well? Yes, I will. One question for
you, one for us. You start. My question is which of the Clippers would most likely do a first date at the cheesecake Factory. I plead the fifth Jake Bones. But why just because Okay, he's young, he's twenty three. Whatever. They got an Adams peanut butter cheesecake. It's called Adams and it's spectacular. Well, I love that place, man, it's one of the best. I don't care that it's a franchise, all right.
I can't all be mom and pop shops all the time. You go to all right, Zach, what do you think of the James Harden trade. I think there's nothing to lose, especially since Terrence Mann and Norman Powell are still Clippers at the end of the day, big time. I like the analysis. Well done, Zach, Jake, appreciate it. Before we
get out of here, I do want to thank the Clippers organization. Know what Eagle, Brian Stemen, Ralph Wauler, Carlo Jimenez on the call tonight, the callers, the listeners, thanks again to our head engineer, big brother Jake Warner, Zach Oh, call to our producer, back into bank, and happy Halloween everyone.
