Time for a postgame. Look, it's your LA Clippers. This is Clippers Locker Road, brought to you by Cedars Sinai, the official health partner of the LA Clippers, and by Patschonga, official travel casino of the LA Clippers. Breaking down today's action with the pre and post game voice of You're LA Clippers. They're locking in every game every night. Adam Osland Clippers fall for the first time in six games. They lose one oh six to one oh
three at Crypto to the Los Angeles Lakers. Welcome into your post game show. I'm Adam Oslin. Coming up. We'll have second half highlights and of course Clippers Talk eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six ninety seven two five to seventy. But first back to your radio voice of the Clippers in Carlojmenez. Oh to me, Carlo. The Los Angeles Lakers
looked like the more desperate team in this one. They had lost four straight and they ended up just out executing the Clippers by the uh ever so close slightest amount. Late that ballgames, the Clippers tried to mount that comeback down ten Yeah, and look the Clippers climbed the hill. They tied it up in ninety eight and Torrian Prince had a big time shot and put them up ahead. The Clippers unable to execute. Wait. I like to fight from
the Clippers. I love, absolutely love the success from that Norman power line up. I think it just shows Adam Anslain if this is a playoff game, a playoff environment. I think that lineup gets it done tonight. Of course, Kawhi Leonard hitting his minutes limit Norman Palace three that I don't I don't think could have been more in the rim before it popped up. Me and big brother Jake Warner both looked at each other like are you serious?
Are you kidding me? They had a magnet somewhere outside that pulled that ball out of the rim. But the Clippers were ranked there and they didn't get it done. They come they lose this one, and they got to get it done tomorrow against Phoenix. The effort was there, untimely turnovers, they got good production from the bench, and they had they got it off night from the Claw and James Harden, who just didn't shoot the ball very well. A combined ten for thirty from those two. The good news though,
Adam, that doesn't happen often. This is a Clip team that's going to bounce back. Now, this is the first off night from Kawhi Leonard over his last fifteen games. Now, the last fourteen games, the guy was just unbelievable. At some point he was gonna have a cold night. It happened against the Los Angeles Lakers. Just six of sixteen, two of seven from three. Still were some signs in the second half where he started to find himself, but not enough. Clippers fall by three to the Los Angeles
Lakers. But as you mentioned, Norm Powell was the right guy in that situation. To me, got a good look and it's just rattled in and out. It was a great look from Norm Powell. Ye, I don't know what more you could ask for. Right, you got your best fourth quarter shooter with a shot after horn and he looked towards the sky as if to say, man, oh man, he'd like another chance at that one.
And I bet nine times out of ten that ball drops. The Clippers in this game looked like they weren't gonna have an opportunity to come back. Had a chance Lake to tye it and send it to overtime, but couldn't climb all the way back in here in Downtown. The final game in the Hallway series in which the Lakers have a home game. The next two will be Clipper home games, which is great because that means we'll get Adam Ouslin
in the building, and I'm excited for that January twenty third. I'm sure that game is going to be a little more important to this Clipper team, you know, Adam, when you win so many games in a row, sometimes you gotta figure out a way to motivate yourself rank state focused. I remember when Georgia was the front runner to win the championship and Kirby Smart had those guys convinced that people were picking them to go seven to five. They
found ways to be motivated. This will be a chance to motivate this Clipper team when they see the Lakers next. Hey, you don't want to see a team get complacent. And I thought for the most part, the Clippers played hard. The effort was there. The execution, though, wasn't always there, and you brought up a great point early on, it just looked like they couldn't find a rhythm offensively that was consistent out there on the floor
outside of Aviza zou Bos, who was fantastic in this one. Carlos Yeah, big su big rebound after big rebound, twenty two points, nineteen rebounds. I think for the Clippers, it's gonna be figuring out when you look at this next matchup and the matchup tomorrow against Phoenix, where do the Russell Westbrook minutes fit in with this team We've seen now the lineup change a little bit, Ada Maslin with Rust coming in, playing with James Kawhi and PG
just in that first quarter? Does Kawhi get away from that? After in back to bank games, it hasn't really been the most positive of minutes for the Clippers. T Lou always trinkering with the lineup, always looking for new ways to find advantages. He's never settled, nor should you be. You get too much film on a team going one way. Somebody's gonna figure out a way to beat him. But the good news for the Clippers is they got another one tomorrow night to try to ride the ship get a big win
against a tough Phoenix team who they did war with four days ago. Yeah, no doubt. Another rival in the Pacific Division, the Phoenix Suns will be at Crypto tomorrow night. Tip off is at seven thirty. Well if your pregame show starting at six thirty, Carlo, my friend great call has always hope to see tomorrow. Oh, let's do it again tomorrow. Let's
hope for another result. O six to one oh three to the Lakers. After winning five straight, Hottest team in the West, they lose to a team that had lost four straight and was reeling in the Los Angeles Lakers. Today at Crypto dot Com Arena, Welcome back into your Clippers postgame locker room show. I'm at a Moslin coming up on the M five to seventy LA Sports. We'll have Clippers talk for you eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six
nine eight seven two five seventy second half highlights. At the half, Clippers led by Jess four, but it didn't feel like they were in control early on the game. They had a sixteen to seven lead, but they would give that away. They still led by five entering the second quarter, but I thought there was an early opportunity for a knockout punch from the Clippers, and they just quite frankly, missed a lot of good looks, missed some
three pointers. After shooting forty seven percent from the outside of the last three games, some of those shots didn't fall, including a shot you're gonna hear in just a little bit at the very end of the game. In the third quarter, though the Lakers made their push, they came out of it up eighty one to seventy seven as Kawhi continued to struggle some Paul George as well, although he would lead them in this ball game, but Lebron James
started to find himself. Anthony Davis got it going and entering the fourth the Clippers were down by four, but then they unleashed the Powell Rangers lineup. Down by ten, they started to chip and it was who else with the lead ranger? I guess, Norman Powell. It's George right wing, extra pass Norm right corner, three splash Norm from distance. Harden finds Norm left
wing another three splash. Again, Norm's making a rain. Norman Powell with a couple of clutch three pointers on a night where he was cold overall and the game was tied at ninety eight all after he went to the free throw line for three free throws. He hit them all, but on the next possession, Tory and Prince would knock down a three pointer to put the Lakers up one oh one to ninety eight. Clippers had a couple of bad possessions
afterwards. When Kawhi Lennon was out of the game. He hit thirty four minutes tonight he was taken out. I guess on a minute's restriction looking for postgame audio from coach lou On that Clippers are on the front end of a back to back. Would come back into the game later on, as the Clippers continued to fight, they were playing the foul game, and Austin Reeves went to the line up by two, you missed the first hit the second. Lakers are up by three at one oh six to one oh three with
four seconds left. Here was the final play of the game. Four point two Clippers down to Reeves hits the second three point team. Four seconds left, zoobots triggers, Norman pal up the near sideline three to tie. It's up in the air from Norm in and out and the Lakers win. A real happy Gomore moment. Are you too good for your home? The ball just refused to go in. It touched every part of the cylinder and popped out, and the Clippers would lose by three to the Lakers after mounting that
ten point comeback. Final score Lakers one o six, Your Los Angeles Clippers one oh three coming up, your final box score and Clippers stock on AM five seventy LA Sports eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. You're listening to your Clippers postgame locker room show. I'm not a Moslin and this is Los Angeles Clippers Audio. No. LA Clippers basketball is on the two to one three era continues.
You're listening to the LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio network. Clippers lose one oh six to one oh three. Hence the cool sad music here postgame from Katie Newton. Clippers fall by three to the Lakers, as a three from Norman Powell would rim in and out to tie the game would have sent it into overtime. Would have had another overtime matchup between these two ball clubs
as we did earlier this year. Clippers fall to zero to two though against the Lakers so far this season, after having won eleven straight against them, and I believe thirty six to the last forty four. So some Lakers fans are dunking on me on Twitter on X to be expected. This is this your guys, championship? Am I doing it right? Clippers will get back after it tomorrow they're taking on the Suns. Tiptime is at seven thirty.
Pre game at six thirty. Clippers ended up shooting just thirty nine percent from the floor fourteen to thirty seven from the outside, still thirty eight percent from three, but they needed one more to go. My issue, sixteen turnovers, Half of those came in the third quarter alone. Well, the Lakers did have nineteen. That's just not Clippers basketball rebounding numbers were even at forty a piece for both squads, and the Clippers actually had thirteen offensive rebounds.
They ended up getting nine more shots up than the Lakers. They ended up taking three more free throws than the Lakers, but the Lakers had more timely buckets. Early in that fourth quarter, they brought the lead up to ten. Clippers battle back tied it, but that Torrean Prince three pointer would do them in and they eventually fall by three to little Lakers at Crypto. We'll do it again tomorrow at Crypto. I guess another rival and the Phoenix Suns
tipped time again? Is that seven thirty pregame show right back here at six thirty outside of Los Angeles. Clippers still winners of nineteen of their last twenty five games, fourteen of their last seventeen since December first. Welcome into Clipper Stock. I'm Adam Oslin. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number coming up we'll hear from coach Lou. I think Chuck Mockler will join the show. Did he just text me back? Yes, he's still in even though his Dolphins lost tonight. They're
still in the playoffs. They're just not gonna win the ANFC East and host a game. Clippers are still in a great spot at twenty two and thirteen now, And it's as simple as this. In some ways, you can oversimplify this game and lump it into the category of Kawhi Leonard had an off night. Hasn't happened in a long time. Last fourteen games, he been shooting sixty percent from the field, fifty three percent from three, and ninety
percent from the free throw line. Tonight, six of seventeen just fifteen points, two of seven from the outside, even missed the free throw one of two at the charity stripe. What is a little bit concerning is the turnovers. And I talked about this recently, and this is something I've been keeping an eye on because the Clippers over the last few games have been turning it
over and being a little bit more sloppy. Now, they had won five straight anyways, and during that time they were the third best offense and the third best defense. But you don't want to develop bad habits that eventually catch up with you. Tonight I thought they did. The Lakers had a lot of turnovers as well, and I thought the Clippers defense for the most part was good, was good enough. You hold a team to one zero six,
you're not supposed to lose that game. In today's NBA. You take three more free throw attempts, you get up nine more shots, and the Lakers had three more turnovers. Probably shouldn't lose that game. But the Clippers didn't get great performances from Paul George or Kawhi And when your top two guys struggle like that, and they haven't struggled many times against the Lakers, but tonight was one of them. You're probably going to fall, You're probably gonna
lose the ball game. If I put you on hold, stay on hold for me. Eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy. Eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. But if I go back now, over the last five games, the Clippers are twenty sixth in turnovers at fifteen point four per game. So I told you there were some warning signs. Now I spun it into a positive to tell you that, look, they could have these turnovers like the fifteen they had against the
Pelicans and still blow them out and win because they're that good. But it's something to watch because for a while, when they got on that run after the starting lineup change with bringing Russ off the bench, they were turning it over less than twelve times per game consistently. They were best in the league for a long time, and there's just been a little bit of slippage last ten games, they're twenty fifth when it comes to turnovers fourteen and a half.
They gave the Lakers too many extra chances out there, even in a game where they got up nine more shots. One of the biggest reasons the Clippers have been so good is because they've been taking care of the basketball, and it's mostly been about James Harden and tonight he had five turnovers. He had thirteen assists too, one turnover against the Pelicans. So it's not just Paul George and Kawhi Leonard having an off night. The Big three head an
off night, hell, the Big four heading off night. Russell Westbrook did not play well, a minus twelve. Talked about this yesterday on Clipson dep do not confuse energy with effectiveness and execution. Russell was far too erratic in this game. In his nineteen minutes, he didn't give much of a lift at all. Didn't end up getting called for a turnover in the box score, but three of nine and one of four from the outside. He took four three pointers and a game where points are at a premium. I just
think that's an ill advised shot. It's not his shot, it's not his game. Norman Powell off night three of twelve, but knocked down two three pointers and then went to the charity stripe and knocked down three free throws. As he was fouled on one in the fourth, he erupted when it mattered most and had just rattled in and out on that shot to tie the game
as the final buzzer sounded. Off Night though three or twelve fourteen points, had a big dunk early on, but also rolled his ankle as Christian Wood was called for a reckless closeout. It was I'm glad he was able to continue to play norm though still had eleven or make it ten, make it nine of his fifteen or no. Fourteen points off the bench in the fourth quarter, so he still was really good in the fourth gave them a shot.
The Powell Ranger lineup came through. They were down by ten. Powell Rangers assembled, they morphed and they cut into that lead quickly, quickly, and I was so happy that Coach Slew went to it. It was ninety four eighty four. And if you don't know, the Powell Rangers lineup is Norman Powell in place of Terrence Man with the rest of the starters on the season. Let me grab this number. You know what. I'll update you on a little bit here. But you can chalk it up to just an
off shooting night from far too many important Clippers. Paul George eight of eighteen, Kawhi six of sixteen, James Harden four of thirteen, Russ three of nine, Norman Pow three of twelve. Yeah, you shoot under forty percent as a team, you're unlikely to win the game. Did the Lakers have an effect on their field goal percentage? I think so. I think their length at times bothered the Clippers, but they still miss some good looks,
some open ones, some shots they typically make. And Kawhi Leonard gets mismatched with Austin Reeves, fall away and can't get it to go. That's his bread and butter in the mid range fifteen feet out, makes that in his sleep typically, And he got off to this little start, and we were waiting and waiting, Okay, when's Kawhi Leonard gonna activate here and take over?
Never really happened. And then late in the game when he hit thirty four minutes, he was pulled with about three minutes left, And I know that's gonna be a talking point. A point of interest, certainly from Clipper Nation. I understand why it happened. I'm trying to get the exact time. I think it was the three twenty eight more of the fourth make it two forty seven. Terrence Man came in for Kawhi Leonard. They're down three
after Anthony Davis hit a bucket. It was ninety eight ninety five Lakers. So you're missing Kawhi and some of the most important clutch time minutes of the game. When since November or no, since December one, he has been shooting fifty seven percent from the field in fourth quarters and you don't have him
at critical points. I don't know if there was an injury issue, if it's still going back to the hip and him, you know, just being a few games back from that hip injury, so he was on a minute restriction because of that, or if because they're taking on the Phoenix Suns tomorrow they wanted to keep him under thirty eight minutes. He ended up at thirty five. He came back in at the very end when they were playing the free throw game and Austin Reeves missed one, left the door open. Norman
Pall had a shot and you know what I want you to hear. The final call here was Carlo Jimenez. After Austin Reeves would miss the first with four seconds left, four point two, Clippers down to Reeves hits the second three point team four seconds left, zoo Bots triggers Norman Pal up the near sideline three to time. It's up in the air from Norm fit it out and the Lakers win tough one bitter pill love the attempt. It was well
defended by Austin Reeves. Norman Pal following away on that three pointer, hit every part of the rim, popped in and out Gophers, as Carlo would say, and he was just three to twelve. But he did have the majority of his points in the fourth, including two three pointers, and was fouled on another one where he hit all three free throws to tie the game. Clippers made it interesting in a game where they were sloppy with the basketball
and at an offshooting night. They were still right there. But the Lakers win by three, and they played hard defensively. The Clippers didn't get as many second chance opportunities I think in the second half as the first half, but I may be wrong about that. Actually beats zoobots. Guys was battling Big Zoo. I'm telling you he's a made man now. Coach Lou trusts him, the rest of the starters trust him. He's playing crunch time minutes
now. And he was really their best player twenty two at nineteen and a block nine of thirteen from the field, four to four from the charity stripe, and had ten offensive rebounds. He did work against Anthony Davis who finished with twenty two to ten Big Zoo twenty two and nineteen ten offensive rebounds. He was creating those second chance opportunities for the Clippers. Here was the problem.
They went three of twelve on second chance points, just eleven points off all those offensive rebounds and visa Zubots tipping and deflecting shots and creating extra opportunities, and they went three of twelve in those situations. The Lakers went five of eight on their second chance points points in the paint. As you would expect, the Lakers won in that category, but just by a slim margin forty six to forty. So Clippers execute a little bit better with those second
chances from Big Zoo. They win the game, but they fall tonight by three to the Lakers starting things off, Joseph in Westlake Village. You're on Clipper start without amazin. What's up, Joseph, Hey, Ad, Yeah, I just left the game man disappointing for sure. You know, might as well start out with something good. Like you mentioned, Zubos played really well. You know, I feel he's really evolved this year and he's kind of taking his game at least a half a step greater than it was last
year. He's been coming up the last few years. But that was awesome to see. And I do like it just comes down to three things. One is the fact that we missed a lot of easy chances at the rim. Saw a lot of layups that should have been in that normally do go in. The other one is, you know, the three pointer really really felt like there were a lot of in and out shots had been at least four or five shots you know outside of Norman Palace that was in and out
that you just thought we're gonna fall down, and unfortunately they didn't. And I would say the last one is the fact that you know the mentality of it, potentially, I know that it's the Lakers Clippers, and I realized that there's a rivalry there, but the Lakers have an ice cold and the Clippers have been red hot. And I remember telling my wife before this game started, you know, this really could be a trap game, and it ended up geeting just that I didn't think about it as a trap game.
I said yesterday on Clips and Dip that I thought the Lakers would play hard. They had just lost four in a row, the last two when the last game they lost to Memphis, in particular, Memphis just went off from three. One of the worst, if not the worst, three point shooting team was knocking them down from everywhere, and the Lakers felt like it was wrong place, wrong time, shooting varigants and the law of averages would be back in their favor. And some of those open threes for the Clippers tonight
didn't fall like they did for the Memphis Grizzlies against the Lakers. The Clippers still hit fourteen of them, and some of those coming down the stretch when they need the most. But I don't buy that the Lakers are on or cooked or the season is over, because now they're going through their bout of adversity. I thought they would be playing desperate basketball. A wounded animal is a dangerous one, and there's been in this conversation about Darvin Ham at his
job. It's hard to ignore that. And they came through and they played hard. The Clippers, though, had an opportunity up sixteen to seven in that first quarter, and I thought they could have blown the doors open and maybe had a chance to break the Lakers will their spirit, and they didn't take advantage of that. That was disappointing to me. You're up sixteen to
seven and Paul George misses the three, James Harden misses the three. Delangelo Russell blocks Russell Westbrook on a layup, a turnover from PG thirteen, another turnover from Aviatsa Zubots. After that, Paul George misses a twenty two footer
that was really their opportunity. They go cold for a few minutes there, and it wouldn't be the last stretch where they went cold in this game, and all of a sudden it's tied at seventeen all, when they had a commanding lead, when they were in control at sixteen to seven and looking like they could run away with this one if they kept their foot on the gas. In some ways, I think the game was lost there. But eight
turnovers in the third quarter alone. That can't happen. Lakers fall. Excuse me, Clippers fall to the Lakers one to six to one three at Crypto dot Com Arena. No time to solk Clippers right back after it tomorrow against Phoenix. We'll see if Kevin Durant is available. Tip time for that one's at seven thirty. We get some pregame show, so saraing at six thirty.
More phone calls coming up. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight, sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy Toy and Prince. It's the biggest shot of the game. That three pointer somebody has said you gotta be concerned about on clips and dip yesterday. He ends up going three of six from the outside thirteen points. But that shot in a tie game, that late, big big shot. The Clippers had a chance late, but not to be for Norman pal More clipperstock next year. On m five
seventy, LA Sports loading Clippers fully loaded with Clippers fans. This is La Clippers basketball. You're listening to the La Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio network. Clippers lose by three, Well, the chance to tie it at the end on a Norman pal three pointer that failed to drop. They fall to the Lakers one six to one oh three for the second time this season, after winning eleven straight against them, and it was even more dominant of a
stretch before that. I believe it was yes, thirty six of the last forty four they had won against the Lakers. So make it thirty six of the last forty five. Now that's going back to I want to say twenty eleven, twenty twelve, welcome back into Clippers talk. I'm at a moslin eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy A lot of missed opportunities and not their most well played game.
Give the Lakers credit. I thought defensively they were pretty locked in. They made life tough on the Clippers at times. Coach lou Posts game did cite a few different instances of missed opportunities. Late Kawhi against Austin Reeves. I talked about that one in the first segment, norm having an open corner three that would have gave him the lead. Paul George missed the rim against Anthony Davis, Zubots missed one right at the rim, and they lost by
three in a game where their big four was bad. Norman Powell was bad. Maybe if you're looking for silver lines, you could say they played that bad and they only lost by three. I beats to Zubots though, uh, he's on the right side of the ledger. Thirty seven minutes, nine to thirteen, nineteen boards, and ten of them were offensive rebounds. Unbelievable. He had twenty two and if you look at the plus minus starters didn't lose this game. Paul George won his minutes plus four, Kawhi Leonard won
his minutes plus five, Zubots won his minutes plus two. Man was plus one. Harden was a net zero in the game where he was bad. Nine assists of five turnovers, a lot of those coming in the second half where they blitzed him. Couldn't find the open band started forcing it a little bit to have beat to Zubots early in the third quarter. They got him for an easy bucket early in the third, but then a few passes to them were turnovers. A really bad pass from Paul George looking for him near
the room. I don't know what he was looking at with that one. He had three turnovers, but five steals eight of eighteen led them. Well, I should say he tied them with the lead of twenty two points, as the beats the Zubats at twenty two as well. Let's go to Ali and Lancaster. You're on Clipper staff without Amazon Ali. What's up? Yeah? Hi? But the happy New YEARK to everybody? Yeah? Yeah?
Or what I want to say about this? Law wouldn't beat the Lakers for so many times, so if this year you got beat two or three times, I don't have no part with that. I think we go to the NBA Final, or maybe win the NBA Championship. That's, oh my god. Go or wins against the Lakers. I take it. Of course, Ali, they got bigger first fish to fry. This is a team with championship ship expectations and championship aspirations, especially now with James Harden in the fold,
who adding off night as did Kawhi. It happens there was a letdown. Maybe they played down to their competition. I don't know. I tend to give the opposition credit. I thought the Lakers played really hard, played good defense, and the Clippers missed some shots they typically make. Both things can be true, but you lose by three in a game where the Clippers played that bad and shot under forty percent from the field when their offense had
just been humming. I gotta think the Lakers played somewhat of a role in that they are a team that is still I think tenth defensively on the season, as bad as they have been since the nd season tournament, where I think they were three and seven over the last ten games and their defense had
dropped to twenty first during that stretch. The ross still there, and by the way, they got D'Angelo Russell back and he knocked down some critical three pointers just five of fourteen, but three of nine from the outside and timely threes from d Low. I thought against the Clippers in this one. Their bench outplayed the Clippers bench straight up, and Russ did not have a good ballgame, and I was hoping he'd come out hair on fire. He's taken
on the Lakers, his former team. Things end well, but just some bad minutes early on. Still, though they had opportunities. They ran out the big four lineup in a different construction where they had Russ next to James Hard and Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and Terrence Mann. For a second. I think they also tried it with Daniel Tice. We saw that against the
Pelicans, but it hasn't worked. For the most part. When you try to play those four were two point three next to James Harden and Russell Westbrook, it has been ineffective. I just think there's too many guys that are demanding the ball two ball dominant, not enough spacing. But we'll see. Uh. I give coach lou the benefit of the doubt when he comes to trying these things. Gabriel and Anaheim. Gabriel, you're on Clippers soft without Amasen Gabriel, what's up? Ye Hi? This is Gabriel Anaheim. Think
you pertaying my call? Salt a? Uh, truth be told. Man, I was watching the game with a bunch of friends and you know it was fun. Then don't mind a bad loss, especially when we played that bad. But my takeaway is, man, they had to play that bad. So many things have to go wrong for the Clippers, and so many things had to go right just to eke out a win. I'm not too worried about that. I mean, how many games they were winning in a row. They had a nine game winning streak, lost to five game winning
swinging drop one. I think we're gonna be okay as long as we got the health, as long as you know, keep connuity going. So I was nothing happening to Kawhi Weddard knock on wood, hang on, I think would be fine. I agree with you ultimately, That's what it's always been for this team, right, Tyler said postgame. Kawhi Leonard spent the clutch minutes on the bench because Leonard was close to his minute limit and lou felt that with a back to back tomorrow, it was his call. So it
makes sense. We talked about it during the broadcast. I figured that's what it was. So it sounds like he's playing against Phoenix, which is vital, which is important. They got to bounce back. Suns are gonna be hungry. They lost to Memphis tonight, I believe, so they'll also be on a back to back and the Clippers at least are sleeping in their own beds tonight. They lost one twenty one to one fifteen to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Kevin Durant did return off that hamstring injury kept him out last three or four games, had twenty three on eleven of twenty three shooting in thirty six minutes. Wonder if he'll be playing tomorrow. Since you just returned, Morris long beat, you're on Clipper stop without a Mazenheim morse, you know, and nothing has changed. It just a make miss league and everybody watching this game. I wasn't at the game. I was watching it on television like
most other people. The Clippers missed a lot of Bunny inside of the paint. I mean a lot of shocks. You know, Kawhi is so good, The guy is so good. We take it for we think the guy is supposed to be Superman. At least I do. At least I do. We think the man is supposed to be Superman. Every night you can't. And I don't think the Clippers played that bad. You stole my thunder. I need to call the police. The Lakers have to win this game, Adam. The coach's job was on the line. The Clippers don't have
to clip. But the Lakers are love. But five games after winning that tournament, that didn't mean anything, said punless you got a five hundred thousand dollars check but I don't know they put up it meant something to them. Yeah, I'm looking at the five ondred thousand dollars check. But that coach job was on the line. I really believe that, you know. But it's still a make miss league and the Clippers just couldn't drop anything. I
want to take my head off to the coach. He made some good decisions to get a team that couldn't throw a pet in the ocean to get him to got down to the last shot in the game. Pretty good, best played for the Clippers tonight, Zubach, This brother was getting down in the pate. I mean, it would have been nice if they won, but he was going up against a good brother, Davis, and I think he all played Davis in my opinion, but David won. Davis won when Zubach
showed me something, he got down. But anyway, man, I'm not I like the previous callers, then I'm not gonna hang my head. Five win five win five, you know we're okay. But the Lakers, they had to win this game. This was a playoff game to them. So that's just my opinion. So anyway, I'll give you next time. Hopefully the mon would take Phoenix and beatam All right, Yeah, I thought they'd get up for the game. I said yesterday on Clips and Dip. Don't
underestimate this Lakers team. They still have a lot of talent. They still have the same roster when they were I don't know if it was five to ten games over five hundred after they swept the n season tournament games and won the championship game. It's the same roster. They've had health concerns too. They've had some curious lineups, and I know Darvin Ham has been under fire. But I expected their best and I don't know if they were that.
They still had nineteen turnovers. You know, they didn't get their usual twenty five free throws. They only attempted sixteen and they missed five of them. And the Clippers ended up with thirteen offensive rebounds and Big Zoo had ten of them. A caller earlier was talking about Big Zoo and the progress he has made this season and the jump, the leap he has made. It's not
a coincidence that is happening now with James Harden. There's a lot to that he's getting the best out of a beata Zoo Bots said it before I'll say it again, they didn't just get James Harden in that trade, they got a better Ciner because of Itatsa Zubots has been different, completely different than how he looked earlier this season. I thought he got off to a slow start.
I know there's some back spasms, but he's been a monster and you could make the argument he out played Anthony Davis, but the Lakers got to win one o six to one oh three. Let's hear more from coach lou post game here. He was on ballet Sports speaking with reporters properly or in time of what was? What was? Specifically? Do you think let the ugly flow of your offense? I got to watch it, Okay, any thoughts before you got thoughts? I told you what I thought. You didn't
tell me. That's got too a good flow look kind of ugly for the most part. Yes, So what did you think? It was? Turnovers? Turnovers, shots that I haven't seen guys take before, you know, indecisiveness under duress. I would say, yeah, I'll let you know tomorrow. Okay, thank you, you're okay. Tomara Zari in uh coach live a good relationship. They have a funny little exchange there. Clippers lose by three. They dropped to twenty two and thirteen on the season. Lakers improved
to eighteen at nineteen. Clippers next game tomorrow night, right back at Crypto taking on the Phoenix Suns. Seven thirty tips, six thirty pre game up next, we'll get back to your phone calls eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six ninety seven two five seventy at follow out of Maine where you can find me if you want to troll me as Laker fans, that's fine. You probably heard some of my morning reports. What did Steph
Curry say to CP three that one time when he danced on him? You know, if you shimmy, you gotta be ready for somebody to just shim me on you. Right back. I'm taking some incoming from Lakers fans. Okay, I heard you. Guys don't even worry about the Clippers and they're totally irrelevant. But then you get a victory over them, and now they're coming after me. Interesting. Chuck Mockler is coming up next. He'll be uh on with us with a heavy heart. His Dolphins lost tonight and the
Clippers lost. I met a Moslin. You're listening to Clippers Talk. You're only in five to seventy LA Sports every Clipper game all season. Law, they didn't stop playing hard. You're listening to the LA Clippers Audio Network streaming on the iHeartRadio app. Well, the first time since November eighth, the Clippers shoot under forty percent from the field. They lose to the Lakers at crypt one six to one oh three, first loss in the last week and
a half Clippers had one five straight. Welcome back into Clippers Talk. I met a Moslin. We'll get back to your phone calls at eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy at follow Out of Me is where you can find me. Where you can find our next guest, not Montana, he is in SOCW Currently it is Big Chuck Mockler from Clips and Dip for some Clips and Double Dip here on Clippers Talk post game, Chuck, thanks for doing this. Where do you
think this one was lost by the Clippers. I mean, I'm kind of I'm trying to decide between shooting in the paint and just general defensive kind of lacks not focus. I guess lack of defensive focus. Lotburry tweeted out a stat that so Zoo made nine of his thirteen field goals tonight, all of them were in the paint. The rest of the Clippers went eleven for thirty two in the paint, which is horrendous in a three point loss. That's just that's a lot of bad luck happening. At the same time, I
think that's a big thing to look at. The turnovers in this game were very frustrating. Harden was uncharacteristically loose with the ball and you know, paired with just some weird kind of defensive instincts I guess, taking over on some odd doubles here and there. It just all combined to sink the clipse. Yeah. I will say this for the Lakers, when you have Anthony Davis and Christian Wood in there, it makes it a lot tougher on the interior.
But if Itasa Zubats got them a ton of extra possessions that they also did not convert on and missed some open shots and some good looks like Kawhi over Austin Reeves in the mid range. Just an off shooting night for Kawhi Leonard. He was more than two the last fourteen games, sixty percent from the field, fifty three percent from the outside. Tonight six of seventeen from the field, two of seven from the outside, with just fifteen points.
Nothing more than that going on, right, Chuck? And I know postgame he said he wanted to play during crunch time, but they had him on the minutes restriction. They got a game tomorrow, What can you do? Yeah, the minutes restriction thing. I can see where people are a little frustrated. You know, I agree that, you know, this shooting game. You know, I hope he I knew he was due for an off night. I didn't know it was going to be this off. But these
things do happen, and the minutes restriction is odd. It's just another one of those things where if there is the minutes restriction, why throw him there for the last seven teams? You know, there's ways to split hairs with the minutes restriction that I think go obviously the more negative way when you lose
like they did tonight against the team they lost to. You know what we talked about this these two teams in their last eleven games, and how they were pretty much complete opposite and that meant nothing tonight, which coincided with Kawhi not shooting well. So, I you know, Tyler said that he assumed he thinks Kawhi is going to be good to go tomorrow. They play again on Wednesday, so hopefully he doesn't have to play a bunch of minutes tomorrow.
But let's see where he's at around the thirty five minute mark, because that is where he was at today when things got you know, a little weird with with his benching. Yeah, I'm wondering about Kevin Durant, who did come back in their law to Memphis in Phoenix tonight, what his status will be tomorrow and minutes wise. But you know, I did try to point out that you can't underestimate this Lakers team. They were gonna get up for this one. Throw out the records. It is a Hallway Series type
of rivalry. But with Paul George having an off night, Kawhi Leonard having an off night, as we mentioned, James Harden having an off night, Russ and off night, Norman Powell outside of the fourth quarter and off night, you can kind of take away some positives here. Spin it positive that Hey, if that many guys have an off night, you still only lose by three with the shots to tie it at the end. That's not the worst thing in the world, right, Yeah, that's a good point.
You Even if you just look at the box score for this one, you look at who is a plus and who is a minus. Every single bench player was a minus for the Clippers, and every single bench player for the Lakers was a plus. So that's something where you can I guess it's kind of easy to point your finger to, right, Like we had so many guys of off night. Even then, the starters still won their minute and stuff like that. Well everyone except for James Harden in terms of starters won
their minutes. So yeah, I mean it sucks that it was against the Lakers. I guess it's good they got out of their system, you know, to start the year, and with a game tomorrow that's going to be I think, you know, the last time they played the Suns, it was, you know, a battle of two seventy point havels. So we'll see what happens tomorrow again against the Sundlement the second night of a back to
back. But let's hope it's out of their system, you know, Yucky said Norm was great late, which we can hang our hats on and stuff like that, and can't imagine that PG and Choir are going to shoot so poorly again tomorrow. You kind of touched upon this, but I thought shot selection was interesting. It was wacky, yeah, and guys turning down shots or making an extra pass and overpassing or being two unselfish at times. It
felt like they didn't have much rhythm. But in particular, you know, we talked about this yesterday on the podcast, and I don't want to be overly harsh, but I thought Russ had a rough game. And I know he's taken on the Lakers, and you know, immediately out there he was shot out of a cannon and he was doing all he could to try to get a win against this Lakers team, but he had an off night. I just thought the flow was just it was a little bit nasty, as
coach Lou would say. The offense it was jumped up a lot in this game. For them to shoot only thirty nine percent. Yeah, both the point guards couldn't really get either of their you know, lineups in rhythm, right, Like James couldn't really get the starters into that usual orbit we've seen
during the good stretches, during these win streaks and stuff like that. And then we saw Tylo again, you know, play that Hoffer lineup as we call it, where it's the four Hall of Famers with pg, Kawhi, Russ, and Harden, and that lineup was okay at best, you know. Yeah, I'm looking at Fly by Night justin Russo for that lineup data tonight. Yeah, we'll see. But yeah, it just it was I think I tweated the out of the show. It was just a little herky
jerky kind of the whole night. There was no reason to get into you know, you would have thought that guy's could have built off, you know, this easy buckets that Zoo was getting and things like that to help there to the side of the ball. But just off tonight. Yeah, I don't know. They have a short amount of time to clean it up before another tough opponent. Let's deflect then and talk about Big Zoo a little bit more. Nine of thirteen twenty two points, nineteen boards with ten offensive rebounds.
I mean, I think he kind of won that individual battle against Anthony Davis. He was a plus one. Davis was a minus four. They won the war, they won the game, but Big Zoo was incredible, and it just looks like they have all the faith in the world in him now finally. Yeah, I mean he's shown kind of some new interesting I guess not new, but you never see it this many times in the game.
A couple flashes here and there offensively from Zoo in games where you see him do something where you go, oh, all right, yeah, go ahead, Big Zoo Like that used to happen maybe once every couple of games, and now we're seeing it multiple times per game. It mostly has to do with the fact that he's had the best point guard for his play style that he's ever had and probably ever will have, in James Harden. But he's getting reward on the offensive end, which is helping his defense, which
again helps the offense. So hats off to Zoo. It's a shame we, you know, we couldn't get to win in what was maybe his best game of the year for the Clippers. But he has another chance to play well against NRK tomorrow, which I think he's gonna do. Yeah, he had a great defensive play on ad early on, kind of pulled the chair out a little bit. Then had a layup on him an offensive rebound a
block at the five minute mark on Anthony Davis. I don't know if I've seen a Visa Zoo bots, at least against that high quality of a player on the other end, defend him that well and really win his minutes. Technically he did. He was really really good out there. Hopefully he can keep that energy up tomorrow against the Phoenix Suns and Yusuf Nurkic. He is Chuck Mockler, of course, of clips and Dip fame doing some double dip here post game on the show. Follow him at Chuck Mockler on X Chuck.
Sorry about the Fins, but they're not done and neither is this Clippers team. And just a regular season loss to the Lakers. There's more games to be played. And I heard a saying before about the NBA. Best thing about it is you lose a game, there's another game right around the corner, and they got once more against Phoenix. Yes, as always, let's go Clips and let's hope we can turn the five around tomorrow and BEATKC. All right, I like your colors more. He is Chuck Mockler of

Final segment here eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. A couple of postgame quotes Andrew Grave for
the LA Times. Here's PG. Thirteen. He said, we know this game is on us, later added that this game doesn't show who we are in any way, but we know who we are. This was just a rough one for us. Clipper shot under forty percent from the field for the first time since November eighth, lost their first game in their last six and lost by three to the Lakers, where the Clippers big three didn't play well.
They're big four, they're big five. Yeah, they just didn't play well overall, and many different facets of the game and maybe a questionable call late that went against them. Paul George wanted to know why that Lebron foul on him late wasn't a takefoul, said he didn't get a clear explanation. Quote, that's a take foul, I don't, to be honest, I couldn't even It was puzzling when the ref explained it to us. Kind of a puzzling quote there with the ellipses and me trying to read it make it
make sense. But yeah, I was wondering too, thought it could have been a takefoul. They're trying to uh get more exciting plays in the NBA by letting them play in the half in the full court, and Lebron James obviously found him on purpose. So the Clippers didn't have a chance, had an easy, exciting and acrobatic layup in transition. Uh Tay just and Walnut to close things out tonight here on Clippers Stock Tay just, what's up? Hey, Ed? I'm uh, you know, agreed with a lot of
what you guys talked about already. Uh, lak of this defense had a little bit to do with it, but are overthinking uh missing open shots and not doing what we did the last several games. Uh, it just seemed like it was one of those games. But you know, you there's lessons and wins, and obviously there's a lot of more lessons you learn and losses, and here I felt the biggest lesson was in the clutch. In the clutch time, I think the last three minutes, Kawi went out and they
went back to iceo ball, and he saw PG up top. It was just too much ice of ball what we did in the past, and it feels like that's redundant with what Harden does and with Kui out, I was hoping that they would post up PG just like they do it with Kauhi and then generate the offense because you're not maximizing hardened when PG is playing iceo ball, So I really think I'm sorry, No, I agree with you.
Continue, Yeah, And it's just I think in these moments, it's so much more effective that if you're going to do that, just running through Harden and let him generate it or put post up PG in the elbow. And I think that would have, you know, we would got better quality shots and maybe pulled out the game even when we played our D game today. But I hope that's a lesson we learned. It's early on, Adam, and let's get back at it tomorrow. D game may be kind, but
some good thoughts there by Tage's Walnut. As always, Kawhi Leonard is expected to play tomorrow versus the Phoenix Suns. I bring you good news there before
we get out of here. Tonight, after the Clippers losing the Lakers one six to one oh three, we got producer kat and Katie's cash well corner where she asked me random questions, sometimes about the game in the NBA because she hasn't always been the biggest fan until she got to work with me, of course, or just questions about my life and put me on the hot seat. What is it, Katie? Yeah, you know what today, It's gonna become just an easy fun one. If you were playing a pickup
game and it was two on two, who's the first? Well the only person? Who do you picky as my teammate? And who do you play against? And they gotta be good from the starting lineup? M Joe Ingles, Okay, maybe he's not. He's I mean he's an NBA player, He's he's good. Right, it goes back to the me and then oh against you? Yeah, I'm deciding and Joe Ingles two of my nemesis. Are you like a good spot up shooter or something? Are you just gonna hide in the corner? Are you? Are you a camera case. I'm
gonna get on Zoo's shoulders and just will be all of big enough. You don't have to get on his shoulders. Is like kids trying to get into a club with big jacket. Three kids. Yeah, the Russian dolls stacked on top of each other. Whatever it is. Question. I just love Kawhi and I was jealous of that commercial where he and Jack Harlowe are hanging out. I'm like, why can't that be me with Kawhi? Leonard Love the Claw Clipper's gonna get back after tomorrow against the Phoenix Suns. Tip off
again at seven thirty, pre game at six thirty. Before we get out of here, I do want to thank the Clippers organization. Ralph Lawler, Bryan Seaman, no ego, Carlo Jimenez on the call, big brother Jake Warner, our head engineer, Katie Newton, our producer, the callers, the listeners Chuck Mockler feel better until tomorrow is six thirty with their pregame show for Clippers sons.
