Transcript

Parents manure once again. He's Clippers Talk. I got calls on Clippers Talk. Immediate reaction and analysis to today's game. That's what he's capable of, hosted by your pre and post game voice of the La Clippers, Adam Osler. It's oh hey, it was the best game of the day, but Clipper Nation will take a little comfort in that as they lose by eight in Toronto to the Raptors with the final score one sixteen to one oh eight.

Welcome to Clippers Talk. I'm Adam Oslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number if you'd like to get on react to my New Year's resolutions. No, we're not doing that type of show tonight, but happy New Year's Eve. Of course. Be safe out there if you're listening to us while you're driving. Clippers we thought were going to be able to head to a victory.

They were up for the majority of the second half, but some issues that have been issues all season long, regarding the turnovers and the rebounding department. Clippers got out rebounded fifty four to thirty seven, but more damning than that would be the amount of offensive rebounds the Toronto Raptors had, especially in the fourth quarter when they needed them, multiple second chance opportunities. Second chances

turned into third chances, turned into fourth chances. Clippers weren't getting defensive rebounds, and the Raptors had eighteen offensive rebounds. Six of them came in the fourth quarter. The Clippers had three offensive rebounds all night. We knew it was going to be a challenge no v to Zubots. It was going to be tough, but they were up by six and the half. They were

up by five heading into the fourth quarter. But there's two guys from the Toronto Raptors that were there in twenty nineteen with Kawhi Leonard and Sergebaka when they would go on to defeat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA finals, and those two guys stepped up late. I'm talking about Pascal Siakam who had nine of his twenty five points in that fourth quarter, and also Fred VanVleet who

had eight of his thirty one in the fourth Clippers lose by eight. And Fred VanVleet, who was well a part of my blueprint for success because as he goes typically the Toronto Raptors go and he's getting twenty per game. He could be an All Star this year. He's been that good. Likely won't be just because on the outside looking in the playoffs right now, but I

expect them to have a big second half. But it was Van Bleet in the fourth quarter who hit a couple of just backbreaking three pointers after the Clippers had three straight turnovers and two of them came after a time out, and around the nine minute mark of the fourth quarter, Reggie Jackson hit a big three pointer, so Luke Nard Clippers were up in ninety nine ninety eight, six minutes left, and Fred VanVleet would hit a twenty six foot three pointer.

It was one on one ninety nine. Clippers did tie it again. They fought, they battled. It was one h three a three forty one left. It was one oh five with two forty nine left. It was a really entertaining ball game down the stretch. Problem is the Clippers ran out of steam, maybe ran out of talent available players for them with so many guys out and the Raptors, meanwhile, they got guys back tonight and VanVleet would hit the Dagga after hitting a driving layup to put him up by three.

He hit a three pointer with twenty four seconds left. They led one fourteen to one oh eight. They would go on to win by eight. And there's not a lot you can ask, or a lot much more you can ask from this Clippers team with the way they played. I thought Reggie Jackson looked good. He had seventeen points. He had a big three pointer in the fourth quarter. He had three three pointers, I want to say in the second quarter alone, but five of eight from distance, and he

did look ghasted in the first quarter. Reggie was keeling over, was hunched over, needed some rest. But I felt like he got his second win eventually, and you could see it in his play. Terrence Man was good. He and Luke Kennard did combine to go over thirty points. Had thirty one. Cannard, though, hit one big three pointer in the fourth the one I mentioned earlier, around the five minute mark. He had a couple of open ones, some good looks that did not two of five from distance.

He had thirteen. Terrence Mann finished with eighteen, a couple of just the run out for the dunk getting in transition a couple of other big throwdowns, and the Clippers had a lot of nice performances from the stay ready Clippers guys who had not played much so far this season that stepped up Justice Winslow in particular, he had I want to say, five points in the second quarter, but forget that, he had two blocks and two steals during about

a two minute stretch. And I've been talking about the bounce we're seeing from him over the last couple of weeks. Now Winslow looks different. He looks closer to what he looked like in a heat uniform, and that's a very encouraging sign because he's had so many injuries. If he can get some of that athleticism back, it would be huge for this Clippers team. And I think we're starting to see it even in that loss to Brooklyn, who they'll

see tomorrow in Brooklyn. Earlier this week Monday, back at in downtown Los Angeles, Winslow I took note of a play and the Clippers were getting blown out late in the fourth quarter, but he went for a tip slam and his head was way up there. And this was a really good athlete coming out of Duke. He just had so many injuries, but when you're only twenty five, you have an opportunity to heal up and get back some of

the athleticism. So good signed there and maybe the player of the night a Mere Coffee going for his season high of fifteen points, five of nine from the field, three of seven from distance, and hit some really big shots head eight points at the end of the first quarter. Speaking of that number fifteen, Clippers were down fifteen in the first quarter. A Mere Coffee came in and absolutely gave them a spark or a jolt, whatever you want to

say for Coffee. He was fantastic. The layup he had in the fourth quarter though, that was really a bailout play. That was special from him. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. We'll take a quick time out here on Clippers stock. We'll come back. I see Morris and Long Beaches online. Clippers lose one sixteen to one oh eight in Toronto to the Raptors.

They run it back tomorrow, not against Toronto but against the Brooklyn Nets for the second time this week. Looks like Brooklyn will have Kevin Durant back with them, who maybe out for blood after what happened against Philly yesterday, and Joel embiid we're having some words, but it was all respect in the end, which is rare from Joel Mbi, who's pretty much trolling everyone on social media. But now, wow, allswell. That ends well. Didn't

end well for the Clippers though tonight. Just a player a shot. Just a little bit behind where the Toronto Raptors are at right now, considering they just got back O g n and Obi kred VanVleet, Gary Trent June got off to a really hot start. They were the healthier team and they went by eight. We'll Clipper stock next. You're on Ampi seventy spots when he swept the technique, don't sweat for technique. This is La Clippers basketball quarter

three for the time he got it. This is the official home of your La Clippers. Happy New Year's Eve, Welcome back in the Clipper stock. I'm out on moslind Clippers fall one sixteen to one oh eight in Toronto to the Raptors eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine

eight seven two five seventy if you would like to get on tonight. Clippers lost the rebounding battle big fifty four to thirty four, but it was the eighteen offensive rebounds, six of those coming in the fourth quarter that really did them in those extra possessions. Raptors turned that into twenty one second chance points. Clippers, as we've talked about before, one in one out. They get Reggie Jackson back. He was awesome, only had seventeen but five of

eight from distance. Three of those three pointers came in the second quarter, hit a big one in the fourth quarter, but they lost to eat zoobots. And it shows in the rebounding battle, and the Clippers were just well, they were missing a player at a key position at the wrong time. The Toronto Raptors were getting guys back. And that's what's gonna happen right now during health and safety protocols, and some teams are more unlucky than others.

Some are getting healthier, others are seeing more guys go into the protocols. And the Clippers caught the Toronto Raptors at the wrong time, and they may catch Brooklyn at the wrong time tomorrow. As Kevin Durant is back this this Clippers talk. I'm Adam Aslan to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Let's get a Morris and long beach Morris. Happy New Year, my friend. Hey, happy with late to Christmas and happy New Year to

YouTube. Adam and everybody was in the time of my voice. Hey listen, I'm sorry, Adam. I got to hold my head up. This is a freaky, freaky year in the National Basketball Association. Nobody's going to argue that. But the Clippers are running on fumes. But they're hanging in there. If they had zoo Box to night, I think they would have won this game. In my opinion. The energy from the Clippers come from their center, that zoo Box and I live. That's where their energy comes

from. And they didn't have those two guys. And it's like you said, it showed up. But don't feel bad everybody, everybody going through this. That team acloss time about five straight game. So it's gonna be a freaky, freaky year and we'll see that the way and see what happens to the end of it. But don't hold your head down. Whole your head

up, all right, keep your head up to buck style. You're right I do think there's something to that that energy emanates from the five spot on this team, and I thought Justice Winslow when they were going small and he was playing the five, played really well, especially in the first half, but he had a bank shot in the second half. He looks like a completely different player than he did earlier this season. A mere Coffee is playing

the best basketball of his career. Three three pointers. It just feels like he has some of that Nicholas batum where they're timely buckets when you need them most. Fifteen points. Eight of those came and they need him in the first quarter because the Clippers were down by fifteen early. They battled, they

fought. There's nothing to hang your head about. As you said there, Morris, It's just unfortunate that the Clippers, Yeah, they were missing one guy or a couple of shots that fall and didn't go down for them in the second half when they were just four or fourteen from three after starting off, I want to say, yeah, eleven of twenty from distance, and things kind of turned around the other way for the Raptors, who started six of twenty from distance. They ended up going five of their next fifteen,

So not amazing. But they hit some key once and it was Fred van Bleet, who he is one of the most underrated players probably in the league, maybe because of his stature. Remember in twenty nineteen, during that playoff run where they went on to win it all, van Bleet started off ice cold. He couldn't hit anything from the outside. A son was born,

I believe in his family and all of a sudden dad's strength. He started shooting I believe, above forty five percent from the Eastern Conference Finals into the finals and was a big reason, along with obviously Kawhi Leonard, why the Toronto Raptors were able to win in twenty nine teen. Clippers lose tonight one

sixteen to one oh eight. Coming up next, we got postgame audio coming up from the head coach of course no Toronto Loo and this one he's in health and safety protocols tonight the interim head coach that would be b Shaw, Brian Shaw, and some postgame audio I believe from Reggie Jackson. You can also get to me at follow Adam a on Twitter. This is Clippers Talk. New Year's New Year, right, Yeah, that's comic. Okay,

more Clippers talk next, see you State s any nights May. One of my best friends from back in the day down the street from Kay you met the school for the Stones, Nick. This is La Clippers basketball quarter three for the time he got it. This is the official home of your La Clippers. To kick reality. Man, you've been doing all this dope producing. You had a chance to show him what time it is. So what you want me to do? I'm expressing with flies and now I'm living the

correction no facilities because something agree with I get straight. I'm Clippers lose in Toronto with the final score one sixteen to one to eight in favor of the Raptors. Welcome into your postgame show. This is Clippers Talk. I'm at a Moslin Happy New Year. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number coming up?

We will get back to your phone calls. Clippers led by five at the half after being down by fifteen in the first half, make it by five after the third quarter, by six and a half, but the Toronto Raptors took the lead early in the fourth quarter. For the first time in the second half, at about the nine minute mark, It was a back and forth seesaw like battle. Raptors had a little more juice and a few more shots. Fred van Vleet came through late. They win by eight.

Here was Reggie Jackson, though back with the Clippers out of Health and S eighty protocols. There was action. Jackson host game, speaking with the media and after the ending out with health and safety protocols. I feel good, feel good. It was a little tired early to start. Found my second win, so I get my feet under me. But I feel good. So I'm glad to be back, fortunate and very blessed be back. I'm doing something I love to do and being around a group of guys. I

love getting around dealing. Wow, you're ready to go at it? Hey, good, good to see you back. Man. What do you say about sort of Brian Shaw kind of stepping in today and you know and just sort of and you guys, you know he said that, you guys, this this team just has an act of giving itself a chance kind of you know, you guys, just play that again. It seems I think you

did a great job. Honestly, with a coach and staff himself, they did a great job of preparation, getting us ready understand what we're gonna see tonight, and then you know, changes that he made through the game, just you know, subs being honest with players. I think drew up great players, got his shots and all we just you know, kind of show ourselves on the foot and let them get eighteen more shots. I think they offensive rebounds eighteen so and then you know, we had some costly time offers

myself, especially for so played a great team. You know, they really got after us. Made it tough and I gotta be better. But I think coach had a great job stepping in, having us writing and prepared and like I said, making adjustments on the fly. Ahead Andrew, Thanks, he reggy, good to see you again. You know, you guys, obviously I've adopted, you've had to adopt the next man up role when it comes to players. But to kind of build off what Miriam was saying,

like how different is it when it's a different coach. I mean, obviously he talked about how he wasn't trying to change a whole lot from what title was already getting you guys to do, but just how different is that to kind of get his voice in there no, no, it's good. It is a little different, I mean different leadership. But like I said, I think he stepped up and did a great job. He wasn't trying to He didn't try to make it too difficult for us to try to stick with

stuff that we know. And as well, I think he put his own imprint on the game, so he wasn't trying to be coach lowing. And I think we came out here. We did. We did a pretty good job executing. It's just uh, like I said, those those things where we weren't sharing defensive possessions, getting the defensive rebound, we allowed him have too many second chance opportunities, and as well as just fouling, we were constantly fouling and send him to the line. So those things made it difficult

for us. But I think I think Coach did a great job stepping in for Tiling and just beating himself and making an easy game for us. So he made, like I said, a simple game playing and then allowed just to go out here, played hard, play together and have fun. And I think we did a good job of it. But I wish we'd short up a few more things to come out with a win. Tonight. You guys last year seemed to thrive when you ever you guys would be missing players.

You guys want all the time when you were down starters. Well, you've never faced quite this many guys out, nine guys out tonight. How difficult is to kind of like keep guys confident motivated when you're facing circumstances that are a little extreme. It might be, but I think, like I said, I think coach allowed us to you can still conferencent us by keeping

it simple. I think in these situations, I think a lot of teams in the NBA are going to and I think their best bat probably is to try to keep it as simple as possible, to just try to keep foundational basketball and let guys go out here and play to the best abilities. Because, yeah, unprecedented times, I mean, guys are in and out unfortunately, you know, praying for everybody, praying for the world, like I said, and praying for everybody's dealing with COVID and has to go through protocol

and come back. You know, everybody has their own battle. But it's gonna be an up and down the year. It's gonna be an interesting year, and we all we all have to brace it and we all have to make the most of it. So no excuses over here. Like I said, maybe a little difficult, Bay still basketball, So we just have to find out find out how to come together as quickly as possible and just continue to play to each other's strengths. Well said by Reggie Jackson. There at

the end he had seventeen Clippers lose by eight in Toronto. He brought up the head coach, interim head coach, active head coach for the moment. It's Brian Shaw. We'll hear from him next. He also brought up a free throw disparity. In that second half, the Raptors attempted at twenty five free throws. Clipers could not defend without fouling, and they took nineteen themselves. Total Raptors were at thirty three total, but twenty five in the second

half. Clippers lose by eight. It was a great effort a guy or too short a shot or too short We'll see if they have anybody coming back tomorrow against the Brooklyn Nets. Next, you're on Clipper stock on Am five seventy set for the picket poop poop two stuff South stamm in the gym and while we in the gym, we book were the forty and but today which isnt This is LA Clippers basketball quarter three for the time he got it. This is the official home of your LA Clippers were the best music music major

Key d Im go on it all. Can't understand how that's so long? Clippers losing Toronto one sixteen to one oh eight the Rappers, welcome back on the Clipper stock. I'm at im Aslin and Clippers next game coming up tomorrow in Brooklyn. You notice taking on Kevin Urant in the Nets second game this week against Brooklyn. But before we get to any of that, I do want to hear from the inter head coach b Shaw. After the Clippers lose

by eight in Toronto. There were there were multiple an extinct in that game where you guys played very well, but I think collectively forty eight minutes, it wasn't I don't think where you probably wanted it to be. Where do you think that game kind of was lost for you guys? Well, there was a stretch there probably at the beginning somewhere at the beginning of the fourth quarter. We turned the ball over maybe two or three times in a row.

Our a Keelles Hill tonight was the offensive rebounds that we gave up. You know, they got eighteen offensive rebounds to our three and twenty one I think twenty one second chance points off of those, you know, and that that was huge. They got two i think two offensive rebounds off of miss free throws where they got extra possessions. You know, So the turnovers at

untimely at you know, that weren't very timely. And then our inability to rebound and limit them the one shot and we were playing small all night, you know, from the majority of the night. But ultimately that did us in not being able to not being able to rebound and keep them off the boards. I mean, they shot twenty one more shots than we did in the game. So to me, that's the game right there. In the next show, there was a B show postgame Clippers lose one sixteen to one

oh eight in Toronto. Their next game, Oh it's five and seven nights and they're taking on the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow in Brooklyn. Tip time same as today for thirty. We'll have Clippers countdown for you starting at three thirty. Before we get out of here. I do want to thank the Clippers organization, Noah Eagle, Brian Seaman, Ralph Lawler here in Burbank.
