Parents badness pure once again, He's Clippers Talk. I got calls on Clippers Talk, immediate reaction and analysis to today's game. That's what he's capable of. Hosted by your pre and post game voice of the LA Clippers, Adam Osler Balance Hunis. I'm trying to have some fun with what happens tonight. Joanna's Balance Hunis went first career high of thirty nine points and the Clippers lose one twenty three to one oh four to the New Orleans Pelicans at Staples centerre
Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm Adam Oslin. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number if you would like to get on and vent and we can do some Clipper Nation like therapy tonight. But remember there's still eleven and ten and there
are still sixty one games left this season to be played. So while things look dire, while the sky may be falling in your mind right now for the Clippers, with them not being able to figure things out on offense or on defense, and in between quarters during quarters, they just can't have any consistency right now. It's not indeed that bad. They can quickly turn this around. But yeah, there are some solutions. I'll give those. Plus
we do have some postgame audio from somebody who actually has the solutions. Head coached Toronto lou and the players who right now are in a funk, and the Clippers losing this game after losing the way they did yesterday to the Golden State Warriors, who do have the best defense in the league, and the Clippers only put up nine points in that game, and we thought, okay, offensively, they have to wake up. They have the second best defense
in the league. They just have to figure it out. Offensively, well, they did early on, they started five of five, and then they would slump offensively and defensively. They gave up thirty seven points in the first quarter and we're down by as many as nineteen. If it's not one thing, it's another. It has just been brutal. They can't get their offense
and their defense on the same page. I say even between halves, because the Clippers were much better offensively in the first half and they were in the second half where they were slightly better defensively, you could say, but they still give up one hundred and twenty three points to the Pelicans and Jonis Valentiunis started seven of seven from three. He I don't even know how. He
only took one more the rest of the game. It didn't come till the fourth quarter, but he almost had his career high at the half it was thirty four. He had twenty nine at the half. He ends up with thirty nine points, fifteen boards, seven offensive rebounds. He had half of their fourteen offensive rebounds, so the Clippers having just four, and the Pelicans attempted twenty two more shots than the Clippers, So yes, you can say
you look at the percentages. The Clippers shoot fifty two percent almost from the field, thirty nine percent from three, but they still had fifteen turnovers and they got beat up on the boards. Pelicans had forty seven total, the Clippers just thirty five. Pelicans had extra, an extra and extra opportunities and possessions out there, and they took advantage of them. And that is one
of the strengths of their team. But it was to an extreme against the Clippers, who once again didn't get out in transition, didn't convert when they did, only had six fast break points. The Pelicans had twenty two, and even in that first half when the Clippers only had five turnovers, while they came out in the third quarter and had seven and couldn't get out of their own way, and that Garrett Temple three pointer to end the third might
have been their undoing. Clippers had it too. Within nine. Paul George was surging, as was Reggie Jackson. They looked to be coming on in the third quarter, and all of a sudden they were still down by twelve or twelve minutes left, and the Pelicans would after getting the Clippers worth in eight and the fourth, they would pour it on. Valanciunis would hit some more easy ones and he just dominated them to a degree he hasn't dominated anyone.
You can say. In his NBA career career night thirty nine points, we knew he was a Clippers killer, but seven of seven from three he might not even do that at practiced sometimes or in the open gym by himself. And some of those were well defended, yes, some were wide open, but after he got it going, it didn't matter. That's what happens
with professionals. You let them get into a rhythm. It doesn't matter if you've a hand in their face, and the Clippers perimeter defense was poor as good as they have been all season long, giving up fourteen three pointers to the Pelicans, who went fourteen of thirty five, and it was really better than that for the majority of the game Defensively, it was shocking to see the Clippers play this poorly after a night where they were so poor on offense.
They just can't get both facets. Are all facets of the game on the same page at the same time. If it's not one thing, it's another, and there's gotta be some frustration there. I believe they'll figure it out. They have the guys to do so, but right now, this is a Clippers team that is struggling to find an identity on offense. Consistently one hundred and four points, it's okay, it's not great, even with the physicality that's being allowed this season. And like I said, they gave
away too many possessions. They only got up seventy two shots compared to the Pelicans ninety four, So there are a lot of issues right now. And Noah Ego brought up a good point postgame. They didn't have Marcus Morris tonight and they didn't have Nicholas Batoum, who covers up for a lot of mistakes, who does a little bit of everything that helps this team. That's what
makes him a winner. It's usually not just the box score you look at, unless it's just the plus minus numbers that show you how much he helps them. And they have been without him for about a week now and the NBA's health and safety protocols and we still don't know when he could be returning. We have postgame audio coming up, hopefully we get some clarity on that. Clippers fall one twenty three to one oh four two the Pelicans. We'll
take a quick time out here on Clippers Talk. We'll come back. We'll get to your phone calls. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number seven for seven. Jonas Valanciunis started from three. He was better than Steph Curry was yesterday. It's like his shooting goes was still out there on the court. Joanna's valanch Junists had never hit more than five three pointers in the game.
Of course, that came against the Clippers about a week and a half ago, so ninety out does that has thirty nine points, a career high. Clippers lose by nineteen to the Pelicans. More Clippers stock coming up next year. On Amp five seventy LA Sports LA Clippers Basketball continued, Safe time shut Down the Stretch. This is the official home of the Los Angeles Clippers. Clippers lose one twenty three to one, all four at Staples Cents here to
the New Orleans Pelicans and Joanna's Valance. Unists went for a career high thirty nine points at fifteen boards, seven offensive rebounds, and started seven four seven from three. Clippers now after winning seven straight games, losers of six of their last nine, don't say nice, it's not. They're struggling. They're in the struggle. Currently. Paul George still had twenty seven a fish and twenty seven on ten of twenty shooting, but seven more turnovers after he had
eight of their twenty five yesterday. You'd say, well, they cleaned it up to a degree. They only had fifteen, but seven of those came in the third quarter and thwarted their own runts. And Paul George having almost half of their turnovers, He's in a bit of a struggle. Himself personally, just with the double teams, the triple teams, the way he's being guarded right now, and the Clippers and those careless turnovers I'll turning into points
for the opposition. The Pelicans had fourteen points off those fifteen turnovers. Welcome back into Clippers stock. I'm ata moslin to eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy before we get to Coach lou postgame. Tye and Santa Barbara, you're on Clippers Talk. You know, this is kind of me piggybacking off when I call it last time. You know, PG started off the season great. This past week or two, he's just been deferring, forcing
passes, overthinking, and the team's following that league. You know, when he's urgent throughout the whole game and doesn't ease up even you know, for one play, the team follows, and when he plays bad, the team also follows. And that's kind of what we're seeing. You know. He he gets his numbers, and he always will because that's the kind of talent
he is. But he's in this mental kind of slump, which he's always gone through his whole career, and he he's got it just staggressive, Ti, I don't want to play armchair psychiatrists and just guess he's in some mental slump right now. I mean, we could just talk about what's actually happening out there on the court. I don't know if it has anything to do with that. No, I'm just saying he just needs to be aggressive, like him deferring and path you know, he just needs to be aggressive,
and I think focus more on scoring throughout the game. You know, the team follows that lead. Well, Ty, would you say this, There's a lot on his plate offensively as a playmaker right now, especially even without Kawhi Leonard. Say what you want about Kawhi and him being the number one scoring option all the time, but we've seen the last couple of years since
he became a Clipper, he got so much better. He improved so much as a playmaker with his assists, and when the ball's running through him and Paul George, it takes a lot of that responsibility off of George. Now it's all on him and we can say, Okay, they did it in the playoff. They were able to get by and they got to the Western Conference finals without Kawhi Leonard. But There's something different about going through an e two game season, a grind like this, where you have back to backs
where you play five games and seven nights. That's different than the playoffs, where you just have to get up every other day at worst for that one game. It's hard to sustain the same level of energy and focus, I think, and that may be an issue here too, Ty. I get it, you know. It's just he's an elite player and he has it in him. And I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't know me. I'm with you. I'm with you, Ti. Thank you for the phone
call. Hopefully we'll talk to you again Wednesday night. Actually, you know what, We're gonna take a quick time out before we hear from the head coach, Toron Lewis. I'm just throwing Katie for a loop about a million times over and tonight in this one, we'll take a quick time out. Clippers lose one twenty three to one O four to the New Orleans Pelicans at Staples Center. They've lost six of their last nine games, and yes,
Paul George has had fifteen turnovers over their last two games. Something has to change, obviously offensively for this team to just be more in sync offensively. I'm less alured about worried about that side because oh this was an outlier tonight giving up one hundred and twenty three points the Pelicans. More Clipper stock coming up next here on AMPI seventy on Sports Lake Clippers Basketball continue six time shot down the stretch. This is the official home of the Los Angeles Clippers.
You've got to come up with very late next time to eat. Clippers lose the Valanciunis and the Pelicans by a final score of one twenty three to one oh four at Staples Center. Second time in a week and a half they've lost to this team. Clippers dropped to eleven and ten on the season, and they've lost six of their last nine games after winning seventh straight. Welcome
back into Clipper stock. I'm out of maslin to eight six sixty to ninety seven two five seventy eight six sixty nine eight seven two five seventy or get to me at follow Adam All on Twitter. Coming up. We'll get back to your phone calls. But first, as promise, I do want to hear from the head coach Toronto lou After the Clippers lose by nineteen to the Pelicans. After that game was for an outlier for his career, for his shooting. But I guess beyond that, what trends maybe have you concerned right
now offensively or building over the last couple of weeks. Just you know, I think making a simple play, making the right play. You know, first half it was still down fifteen a half time, but we only have five turn over so it hasn't been indicative of how we've been playing. You know, we take care of the basketball. We usually score, but we just couldn't stop them tonight. And you know, like I said, we we would due for a bad deepnessive game. But you know, Valentine has
made uh seven threes. They you know, they got everything they wanted, sixty eight points in the pain, shot forty percent from three, twenty twenty two pass break points. So we just couldn't stop them. We couldn't really get any rhythm offensively. I thought the guys tried to do the right thing offensive with the movement and making the actually pass. But it's hard, like you said, you gotta take the ball to balance every single player to try
to get down and get something to score. And a half court every single time, so I gotta look at it. But I thought a guy's offensive they had a right intent or just trying to move the basketball and play the right way. And just you know, we couldn't. We couldn't stop them tonight. Hey, coach, uh eighteen second chance points for New Orleans. You guys really couldn't keep him off the glass, couldn't do anything. I mean, what did you see as far as I guess boxing out or anything
like that. You know, we played big, you know, they got offensive rebounds. We played small, they got offensive rebounds. So just you know, the you know, we talked about it, come into the game, just down Cheans on the glass and you know Jones crashing, you know, so we had to be better with that. But I mean we just all around just you know, defensively, we couldn't we couldn't get stops. I thought that pace was you know, there was fast for us, and
they ran they stuff with pace and and we just couldn't keep up. And like I said, Ingram, you know, we're down che It was cool, cool it off and Ingram got going and so they just had a clicking tonight. Like I said, they played good. They played well. And we just couldn't get any stops. Last year, they were really good on second night of back to backs, haven't able to get a win. Obviously, you've seen this scenes twice in these scenarios, it's been the same result.
So is there is there anything you can do to adjust the approach or is it just we've got playing back to backsta it's gonna be hard to win. We need everybody's that some There was coach Low post game after the Clippers lose one twenty three to one oh four to the New Orleans Pelicans. Yes, tip your cap to the Pelicans, who may have only had five wins coming into tonight, but one was against the Clippers. One recently was against
the Utah Jazz. One was against the Washington Wizards, who are third right now in the Eastern Conference. They have been playing better. But and some would say, well, this is Clippers luck you want to spell on. Sho was one for his last eleven from three before tonight. Going back a couple of games and he goes seven of seven to start again. How does he only get up one more three point in the second half with a start like that, But thirty nine points a career high Brandon Ingram was also uber
e fishing out there. He was twelve of eighteen had twenty seven points. Brandon Boston's doppelganger and Brandon Boston would get into the game. Played a doubleheader today in the G League. He dropped forty six points earlier today at Staples Center, actually and game the Agua Kaliante Clippers won by I think about thirty, and he could have gone for fifty. They took him out late because the lopsided its score. So looking for positives today, even outside of what
happened in this Clippers game. They lose though one twenty three to one oh four. We'll take a quick break, we'll come back. We'll get to your phone calls eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. They got a couple of theories coming out for why the Clippers have been so inconsistent and up and down so far this season. But they are just twenty one games in sixty one left to play.
More Clippers stock next year. On the UMPI seventy Yellow spors New make then shoot I'm talking to you. Was in the six foot throwing the West side man something LA Clippers basketball continue safe time shot down the stretch. This is the official home of the Los Angeles Clippers on the West side and make your famous. It's most coz you got a better flowing for the edit their pok Clippers lose one twenty three to one oh four to the Pelicans. No
way to edit that. Clippers drop to eleven and ten on the season. Their next game is coming up Wednesday at Staples Center. They're sixteenth game so far at Staples, so fifteen of their twenty one games already have been at Staples. That has been a favorable homestand at least in theory, the schedule has laid out favorably for them. Clippers aren't taking advantage of it though right now, and it's hard to pinpoint exactly why they're struggling in so many different
ways and they can't get on the same page offensively and defensively. Yesterday it was about the offense only scoring ninety points and I will say one hundred and four points still on the low side. That is basically would be twenty fourth
in the league right now. But they give up one hundred and twenty three points after coming into tonight, still the second best defense that held Golden State to one oh five yesterday, even with twenty five turnovers, to see them falter and fall apart defensively like this on a night they seemingly had it going early offensively, it started five of five. But if it's not one thing,
it's another. And I'm just wondering what this inconsistency on offense, especially because you know, coming into this season without Kawhi Leonard and let's remember that they still don't have their best player in Kawhi Leonard. Most teams, yes, what struggle. It's twenty one games in. Clippers are still a game over five hundred and they're still in the thicket things in the Western Conference and
the standings because a lot of teams right now aren't playing consistent basketball. Some of it could be the Wilson basketball, the physicality out there, guys adjusting, but also guys being injured and guys being out for the Clippers. And it hasn't just been Kawhi Leonard. We knew that coming into the season, but then Marcus Morris and Nicholas Batoum guys. You can just ill afford to
lose Nicholas Batoum. You can argue at times he's the second most valuable player after Paul George on this team right now, and they haven't had him enough. And when they had that turnaround after starting one and four and they won seventh straight, Nicholas Batoum was a big part of laying that foundation for them being this defensive team that they've been and maybe, as coach Lew said postgame, you know they were just due for a bad defensive game. The levy
finally broke, and it makes sense. The timing is brutal because you're playing a team that only had five wins coming into tonight and you wanted to respond after losing to the Golden State Warriors, and it looked like a good position, a good opportunity to do so. So it starts with health and being healthy and building that continuity out there. And they have a new starter. They have had a couple really, but Eric Bledsoe out there in the starting
lineup for them this season. There was always going to be an adjustment, and he's been somewhat up and down. I'd say mostly up because even when he doesn't shoot well defensively, he's been very good for them. But between
Marcus Morris and Nicholas Patum and a mere coffee. They've had different guys there playing the four and the Clippers. I think we're looking for more consistency on offense from some other young guys, whether it was Terrence Mann picking up where he left off in the playoffs and just being more consistent as a scorer, and we haven't seen that so far this season. And he's a young player
still and you have to remember that, but Luke Annard as well. When you're going into every game and saying, we know what Paul George is going to do. He's averaging twenty seven a game on the season. He's their number one option offensively. But if you don't know who's going to be number two every night, I think that can lead to some inconsistency. When it's been Reggie, when he's been good, when he has scored twenty or more, they're eight and one, just got to nineteen tonight. But when he's
had off nights, who else is going to step up? Is it a bunch of guys And I'm speculating here, but looking at one another going okay, is it gonna be you tonight? Is it gonna be me that pecking order sometimes and knowing your roles out there when they're more clearly defined later on
in the season, that can be huge for this team. And I still feel like there's just too many guys that have been up and down with their offense, and maybe, and we talked about this after the last show, but they've been too unselfish, and coach lew said before this game, they're a little bit indecisive out there, and they're not playing with enough purpose and focus. And even though the effort is there, the execution has not been.
And it does have to change quickly here because the schedule isn't going away. It is that elephant in the room, that daunting giant, that opponent
that is kind of just lurking in the background all season long. Because you can make the argument they do have the toughest schedule in the NBA, and they're in the midst of another five games and seven nights and they're starting off this stretch oh and two Sacramento on Wednesday, as Noah Eagles said, that's starting to look like a pretty big contest and show me something type game from the Clippers that could help, you know, start to mold that identity if
they can get a big victory there, if they can put it together for four quarters on both ends of the court. Just hasn't been enough of that so far this season, and I think that accounts for the inconsistency we've been seeing in this eleven and ten up and down Clippers team and record right now. So they loose to night By nineteen to the Pelicans. Next game, as I said, is against Sacramento Wednesday night at Staples Center, same tip
time, seven thirty. We'll have Clippers countdown for you starting at six thirty. Clippers got the good right roster, they got the guys to do this, and they have the right head coach in Tron lou And it just feels like they're down OZ two in a series again and he's going to make some adjustments and they're going to figure this out all right before we get out of here. I do want to thank the clip was organization, Noah Eagle, Brian Seaman, Ralph Lawler, big brother, Jake Warner Or head engineer at
Staples Center, Katie Newton the fabulous job once again. Hearon Burbank until six thirty with their Clippers Countdown show on Wednesday at home against Sacramento. I'm Adam Oslin.
