Clippers, they're locking in every game every night, Adam Osland. After the Clippers lock in the fourth season the West, they come up just short tonight against the Utah Jazz here at Crypto dot com Areno with a final score of one ten to one oh nine in favor of the Jazz. Welcome into your
postgame locker room show. I'm at a Oslein. Coming up, we will have Clippers Talk on AM eleven fifty eight seven seven five to zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty is the phone number if you would like to get on early. But let's get back to your radio voice
of the Clippers here in Carlo Jimenez. So, Carlo, we talked about it frequently throughout the broadcast, but we were looking for more good process out there by this clip team, and I think we got that tonight in a highly competitive game late, by the way, Yeah, you know what, Adam, We were wondering if the Clippers could execute and get it done down the stretch, and I felt like they did that. They were able to be effective, they were able to knock down shots. It was impressive by
this Clipper team to fight to the end. Defense really showed out when they needed to, and look, they had a chance down the stretch to come away with a win. Just could not finish a fun one for sure here in O way. Yeah, Xavier Moon with a good look at a three poorner. That is a shot he has knocked down time and time again in the G League. He's had multiple game winners for this Clippers team. Couldn't
get it to go tonight. But I like the fight we saw from the Clippers late and just that competitive integrity that held up for this Clippers ball club. And once again Bones highlight showing out. Busy Bones playing well for this Clipper squad. Seven ver seventeen Adams six assists to go along with his twenty points and five rebounds. It was fun to watch Bone tailand get it done with this unit. Really feels like they rely on him heavily to get the
offense going at him, and that's what he did in this game. I feel like for bones Hyland, he could be someone who can get a punch late in the season into the playoffs and be an extra motor off the bench somebody gets in found trouble. We know how playoffs go, you can't really predict much. But for the Clippers, the opportunity to have another scoring option
off the bench just a cornacopia of availability for the Clippers. He could be a game breaker at time for this team's this team because the way you can stretch the floor with this three point shooting and how unafraid he is a willing shooter out there no matter to the moment. We saw it last year in that series against the Phoenix Suns in the first round. So, Carlo, we talked about a little bit during the broadcast. But we know the Clippers
opponent. We've known for about forty eight hours now. Now we know the Clippers have home court against the Dallas Mavericks in that four to five matchup. What have you seen from Dallas over the last month or so when they've been the hottest team in the league. Yeah, I think that Adam, if you want to stop Dallas. You're gonna stop their pick and roll action because with Luka Doncic, they love to get downhill and find gafferd or Lively back
door for Lobbs. That's their bread and butter. I think what I'm encouraged by for this Slipper team is you look at the Doncic and Murray pick and roll. The Clippers were able to shut that down for the most purcuse me, Jokic and Murray pick and roll. The Clippers were able to shut that
down for the most part. It's gonna be the lob threat. Then I'm encouraged to see how they can take care of because Doncic loves to get underneath the Gafford, who at one point made thirty three straight shots and almost all of them were dunk So the Clippers cannot allow that to be a threat. I think you gotta make Luca do it himself. The best opportunity for the Clippers. If Luca is feeling like he's got the team on his back, yeah, he's gonna have forty six fifty in a game, probably, but
everyone else is cold. No one else has touched the ball, right, You got to think about the team as a whole. You don't want to make it make someone else beat you, but that might not be a bad option for the Clippers, and Adam must be honest, Cobers have made that an option throughout the season. They've started to beat to zubants on Luka Doncic and just said, hey, Whordon, it's not gonna let anybody else beat you. That has found success. No, I think that has been the
key in the past. You try to make them as one dimensional as possible, especially Luka Doncic. Of course, now he has Kyrie Irving as a safety valve, a second option, something he didn't have against the Clippers in twenty twenty in the Bubble or in twenty twenty one in that first round series. But this Dallas Mavericks team, as you mentioned, they got a lot of high flyers. That lob thread is a problem. They just have a lot of weapons now in a lot of different ways to beat you. That
I think is different from what we've seen in the past. It's not just the Luka Doncic show anymore. No. I mean Tim Hardaway Junior on the outside has been excellent for them this season. They got a lot of three point shooters who can spread the floor. I think PJ. Washington their addition for a lengthy big who can attack down hill, that's a good pickup for them. I mean, I'm interested to see. I'm interested to see. I think the first game, probably the first two games, are gonna be
a big time feeling out process. I feel like one team or the other might have a huge advantage that another coach wasn't ready for it, just because they haven't seen each other since after Christmas, and so once you get to game three and four, once you get to Dallas, we're gonna see a lot more nitty gritty in this game, a lot slower, a lot of
the same movements. But I don't be surprised if one of those first two games is super lopsided, just because there's not that much familiarity, especially with this Dallas team. I mean, the Clippers took on Dallas with Grant Williams starting for them. Still Grant Williams is now in Charlotte, and it's very different than the last time they saw. That's a great point. They have had a huge makeover on that end and really in the front court, and
it's led to a much better defensive team for this, Dallas Mavericks. We talked about it during the broadcast, but they've been a top ten defense their last thirty five games now, so we know the matchup. We're looking forward to it. We still got about a week, make it eight days most likely before tip off round one, the four or five matchup, your Clippers being the four seed taken on the Dallas Mavericks. All right, Kobe to a mere copy, shake it his way back into the right corner. Here's Kobe Brown for three oh yeah. Kobe Brown from Downtown and the lead chopped in half for Utah eighty four eighty one minutes a blade, You're in the third. Kobe Brown was
seven points in the third quarter after three. Was the Clippers Steel trailing one at eighty six to eighty five. Utah. Bones Highland once again did his best in the fourth quarter to try to will the Clippers of victory. Late twenty came to the first half. Here's Pyland the right wing three yacht see Bones Island makes it one O four, one o three and the Clippers within one two A mere coffee shaking his way back into the right corner. Here's
Kobe Brown for three. Oh, get yeah, Kobe Brown from Town Town and the lead chopped in half for Utah eighty four eighty one minutes to plade, You're in the third, Joe, it would be Kobe Brown and Brandon excuse me, Brandon Boston with a huge dunk late but also Bones Highland, of course, with five points in that fourth quarter. Finished with twenty, but Xavier Moon had to look at a three pointer on the left wing, couldn't get it to go. Was Brandon Boston fighting for the rebound with Kenny
lofton junior. I thought there was a foul committed late, but no whistle was blown, and the Clippers would fall by one final score, one ten to one oh nine in favor of the Utah Jazz. Coming up next, we'll get to your final box score and start to preview the Clippers Dallas Mavericks four or five matchup in the first round. Coming up on Sunday, right back here in downtown Los Angeles Clippers taken on the Houston Rockets. Tiptime is at twelve
thirty. We'll have your pregame show live here at Crypto dot com Maria starting at eleven thirty. Clippers fin us off shooting just forty five percent from the field. Just really the three point shooting was troublesome tonight for Voll squads. Ten of thirty nine for the Clippers from the outside, six of thirty five for the Utah Jazz. Clippers fans with thirteen turnovers Utah with eighteen Clippers turned
that into twenty points. The Jazz squeezed out sixty four points in the paints the Clippers sixty two second chance points in favor of the Clippers twenty two to seventeen. Your Clippers were led by who else my player to watch? Busy Bones with twenty in this one. Does that tell you his last two games?
It had fifty seven points combined. Bones islands seven of seventeen from the floor, just three of eleven from distance, but did knock down a big one in the fourth quarter, and the Clippers were making their push fun entertaining ball game down the stretch thanks to Boneshighland also had six assists in one turnover. Like what we saw from Brandon, Boston started to find his offense a little bit late to in a huge throwdown over Kenny lofton Junior. He would
lead the Utah Jazz with teven points on ten of sixteen shooting. Big body out there reminded me a little bit of Glenn Big Baby Davis Clippers starters Paul George only playing eight minutes. Remember they secured that four seed before they tipped off. Here is Dallas loss of the Detroit Pistons beats a Zubas ten points. Also in ten minutes, Clip Clippers lose though one ten to one oh nine here at home to the Utah Jazz. And while we have a moment,
let's pause ten seconds for station identification. Here in the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network, this is La Clippers Basketball AM eleven fifty k EiV, Los Angeles, about an iHeartRadio station. They lose tonight to Utah one ten to one oh nine after they found out Dallas lost to Detroit at home, which means your Los Angeles Clippers will be opening up the first round of the playoffs here at Crypto dot com arena in the four or five matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. Welcome into your postgame show. I'm at a Oslin. Eight seven seven
five two zero eleven fifty is the full number here on Clippers Talk. Eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty coming up your phone calls, plus I believe we have Will Updyke. Now it'll be Chuck Mockler tonight joining me. Also looking for postgame audio from the head coach. But the Clippers not only know their opponent, and they know where they will be starting and tipping off
at right here at the hardwood at Crypto dot Com Arena. The date not yet set, thinking most likely the twentieth next Saturday, considering these are the only two teams so far that we know at least coming into this night who will be matched up against one another in the NBA playoffs, So we can talk about that once you think about the Dallas Mavericks. I think I've given my thoughts a little bit here. I was in favor of the lesser of
two evils, being the New Orleans Pelicans or the Phoenix Suns. But same as it ever was, it's back to take it on Luka Dacic in the Dallas. For the third time in the last five years, Clippers would win the first two matchups, different Clippers team, different Dallas Mavericks team. Here, I do want to talk a little bit about, though, what happened tonight with that news. We thought, okay, the starters might play in the first quarter, and that's about it, and that's what happened. Outside
of PJ. Tucker, Paul George beats the Zubos, Terrence Man, James Harden limited minutes and they did not get back into the ballgame posts first quarter, Paul George did look good. Three of five, two of three from the outside, ten points in eight minutes. It beats the Zubos ten points and ten minutes. James Harden a little bit more burst out there. I thought that was a nice development. On one play early on, he attacked down the left side of the lane and kicked it out to Terrence Man for
a three pointer. Then he had a blowby for a left handed layup going to his left, had a couple of lobs to have Eatza Zubots. James Harden looked good. That was the most probably most encouraging thing I saw tonight in this game. Really his movement, the spark he had, the tempo, the quickness. They're gonna need that. James Harden was brought in to help this team win their first ever championship and has I think been turning a
corner over the last couple of ballgames he's been in. But he'd been dealing with a foot injury some inflammation there. Didn't play in their last game Wednesday here at Crypto against the Phoenix Suns. Clippers would rely on Bones Island in that one. They relied on him tonight too. He led them in scoring once again, not thirty seven, but twenty points off the bench in twenty
nine minutes. I just love the attack mode he goes in, and I've seen it whether or not he's next to Kawhi and Paul George, or whether or not he's playing next to Amir Coffee and Norman Powell and the backups. He just has this aggressiveness to him that you love from a young player. The green light was on, he knew it. But I felt for the
most part he played within himself. You could say that he could have had a heat check like moment coming off score in thirty seven trying to get to forty against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, and he could have just been jacking up shots to see if he still had it. I didn't feel like that. In fact, there was a play we took note of against Utah tonight where he and a mere Coffee. He gave up the ball to a mirror on the left wing, who gave it right back to bones and said,
get to work. You're being too passive here. It was fun to see and it was a fun fourth quarter, third quarter dragged a little bit, but the Clippers already knowing where they're ending up and where they're starting that first round with that, Okay, how meaningful these minutes there were a ton of fouls in the third quarter of the game did drag. But in the fourth quarter, up and down, back and forth. We got down to clutch time and it was Xavier Moon with a three point shot that was just off
the mark. Brandon Boston gave a great effort for the board. I thought he was fouled. I thought it was an obvious foul. And Kenny Lofton Junior, who led everyone with twenty seven of the ballgame for the Utah Jazz and the Clippers would fall by just one here, but you got a little bit of a taste. I'm not saying this was representative of playoff ball here
at Crypto with Clipper Nation, but they got into it tonight. There were highlights in that fourth quarter into the third two with Kobe Brown huge throw down, Brandon Boston threw one down over the top of Kenny Lofton Junior. Balls with the Big three. There was excitement, energy, electricity in the building as we get closer to that first playoff game. Here against Luka, doncicch Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Maverick. So a little bit of a dress rehearsal
just now for the starters. And that's what we expected as soon as we saw and it happened homes before tip off the Dallas Mavericks and that final score coming in that they would lose at home to the Detroit Pistons. The reason
they didn't play their stars, No Luca, no Kyrie. It's something I anticipated, talked about it on Clips and Dip yesterday with Chuck Macklin, will Updyke, But I thought maybe the Dallas Mavericks would assume that the Clippers have the four spot wrapped up, so they would start to rest guys with the Clippers last two opponents being Utah and the Houston Rockets. That's exactly what they ended up doing. Probably a smart move on their part. I think if
the Clippers had to get tonight's ball game, they would have. We'll see what happens on Sunday. It'll be another stay ready game. I would anticipate You're not gonna see much star power out there. You just can't risk it. Now, it's all about being one hundred percent healthy for Game one, and we do have an update on Kahilon. Lawrence Frank came on Bally Sports with Brian Seaman and Jim Jackson during the broadcast and talked about the right knee
inflammation Kawi has been dealing with. He said, it's no secret he's had a couple of surgeries to that knee, something I've been talking about. That's my concern. Quote. It's not uncommon over the course of it where you deal with inflammation. With inflammation, it limits your ability to make some natural basketball moves. So he's working his tail off, The staff is working their
tail off to try to help with the inflammation. So I don't think Kawhi Learn is going to be available on Sunday, And even if he was fully healthy and not dealing with this injury, I don't think you'd want to see him out there meaningless contest against the Houston Rockets. The hope is that basically three weeks off from the first game missed against Sacramento up in NorCal to Game one against the Dallas Mavericks will work wonders and hopefully he'll be ready to go
and at the peak of his powers. Because you're gonna need him there against Luka Doncic, now with Kyrie Irving, now with PJ Washington, now with Daniel Gafford, and a team with a lot more depth, especially in the front court, pick and roll options, rim Runners, high flyers, a lot of athleticism. It's not just Luka Doncic anymore. Picking you apart.
He's gonna be looking for his teammates. He has a legit number two now in Kyrie Irving, an NBA champion, the guy who hit one of the biggest shots in NBA history, and they're three one comeback in Cleveland next to Lebron James and twenty sixteen against the seventy three win Golden State Warriors. He hasn't had as much playoff success since then. Still was good in Cleveland, they were overmatched with the KD Golden State Warriors, but in Boston struggled as
being the number one option. In Brooklyn, they're big three with him and KD and James Harden struggled to stay on the floor next to one another. I think they played less than twenty games together. They would be swept he and KAD by Boston in twenty twenty two out of the first round. But I wouldn't bet against Kyrie Irving getting back to where he had been in the past with his playoff prowess and showing off the talent that he is on the
biggest stage once again. So you know, I wasn't looking for this matchup. But this is what is the cards the Clippers have been dealt, this is what they have to deal with, and there is a lot of familiarities still even though this Dallas team is different, they have had every opportunity to prepare for Luca Doncic over the years and knowing his game about as well as
anyone else. Luca's twelve and nineteen against the Clippers in his career. While Charles Barkley says he owns the Clippers, he has the most losses to the Clippers of any opposition or any ball club in the league and has lost to them twice and back to back playoff first round series back in twenty twenty in the Bubble and then in twenty twenty one, after taking a two to zero lead, the Clippers would fight back and eventually win in seven. Here at
the time it was called Staples Center. It was an epic first round series. I expect nothing less this time around, but the Clippers obviously need Kawhi Leonard to be healthy. That story and that storyline remains the same. We are concerned about Kawhi Leonard in his health right now, yes, but a healthy Clippers team, I do think they can beat anyone that includes the Denver Nuggets. I want to see that rematch because we know what happened up three
to one in the bubble against them. Love to see it now with coach Lose the head coach, I think more minutes for a beats the Zubats well earned. He's been one of the better defenders against Nikola Jokic. But like we can't get ahead of ourselves, Dallas is formidable. It could be a coin flip of a series even with Kawhi if he's fully healthy. They're that
good. They're the hottest team in the league. And by the way, defensively they've turned things around last thirty five games, they're eighth defensively while being a top three offense. That's what scares you. They are trending in the right direction. You can see the vibes. The chemistry is built up now between Luka and Kyrie. They had one of the most notable victories of the season, with Kyrie hitting that left handed push shot from fifteen feet out over
Nikola Jokic in a dramatic victory for the Dallas Mavericks. And I don't know, they might feel like they're a team of destiny right now, but the Clippers have the talent. They have James Harden, now, they have Russell Westbrook. Now, Paul George is certainly back to playing his best basketball the season tonight. A quick ten points in just eight minutes before he was pulled. Looked good, looked in a rhythm, The timing was there. So
a lot of things trending in the right direction for the Clippers. It just comes down to Kawhi Leonard if they can get him healthy and ready to go for Game one, likely eight days from now eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty. Let's start things off with Mark and Hunton Beach here on Clipper stop without a Maslin on the Patriot Ame eleven fifty. Mark, what's up? Hey? Refresh me. I don't know if I asked you this or not. Say we beat
Dallas and now we're gonna play. I think it's what the number one seed in the second round. Well, as long as number one beats number eight, yes, they're in the bracket of the one to eight matchup. And that's where my question comes from. If the eight beats some one, because it's happened before, then do we have home field advantage playing the eight in the second round. Well, they don't recede, the Clippers would have home court advantage. Okay. Well, like I said, I hope we're just
pool. It was an interesting game. Too bad we couldn't want it. But like I said, I'm looking forward to the playoffs. I might even have to go to a game mark it is a site to behold. I was here for those games against the Dallas Mavericks in twenty twenty one. That Game seven, Marcus Moore is hitting seven to three pointers. Crowd was going nuts. Clipper Nation brought it. I don't think they win that series without
home court advantage. We talked about it earlier during the broadcast with Carlojmenez, how big it could be. Well, neither team had won at home until Game seven in twenty twenty one, unbelievably, so it was the deciding factor Clipper Nation help them across the finish line. You could say, Ryan and Santa Anita, you're on Clippers stop without a Mason? What's up Brian? Santa Anna? Hey, what's up? Adam? All right? From Santa Ana? My bad? Ah your producer every time. That's three out of
four. No, no, no, he was right. I was wrong. I misread it in the text Santa Anna. Okay, Ryan, you better represent because apparently you want to be known from there always Ah the producer on match. Okay, so what are we doing? Uh? Yes, that's game. It doesn't matter. It's fine, I think. Uh, I'm gonna guarantee you right now. Kyrie's not going to do a left kind
of shotover Zoo. Everything looks good, honestly, like if everything goes right, if the Thunder end up being number one seed, everything is in place for the Clippers to win it all. I don't hate your line of things. I've been standings watching for over a month now. It's a sick disease of mine. I can't help myself scoreboard watching update in the standings every night. Yeah. OKC currently in a three way tie with Minnesota and the Denver
Nuggets, and they would be the one seed in that scenario. That's what they are currently. Their final game will be against the Dallas Mavericks, who have already tipped their hand. They're not gonna be playing for anything. They're not gonna be playing their guys, most likely on Sunday, so they have a great chance to end up in that one spot. Then it comes down to Minnesota in their final game taken on the Phoenix Suns, and the Denver
Nuggets in their last contest. They will be in Memphis on Sunday, so we'll see how things shake out. But I was extremely excited earlier when I saw Minnesota win at home and the Denver Nuggets somehow lose that game while playing their starters. Again, it's the San Antonio Spurs ride. Here you go. But he did represent because that is something I wanted to hit on.
We'll get some more of your phone calls coming up. Eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty. Yeah, let's start to unpack this series. Clippers taking on the Dallas Mavericks again. But I would argue both teams very different roster wise, playing style wise too. Clippers lose tonight one ten to one O nine at home in a pretty inconsequential contest against the Utah Jazz. But I still like the way
the Clippers played overall. More Clippers start coming up here on the Patriot AM eleven fifty. Next. Every Clipper game all season, law, they didn't stop playing hard. You're listening to the LA Clippers Audio Network streaming on the iHeartRadio WAP. Clippers lose one ten to one O nine at home in Game eighty one to the Utah Jazz. But more importantly, they have locked up the four spot. They will have home court in that four or five matchup
in the first round against the Dallas Mavericks. Welcome back in I'm Madame Osland. This is Clippers Talk here on the Patriot AM eleven fifty programming Reminder. When the Dodgers are on a five to seventy LA Sports, this is where we will be. Eight seven seven five to zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty is the phone number coming up. We got Chuck Mockler from Clips and Dip looking for postgame audio from coach Lou as well.
But first let's get back out to the Carls man Marvin in downtown Los Angeles. Marvin here on Clippers stop for that, Amawsen, I'm Marvin, Hey, Adam hey, I'm good to be back and on Clippers talk and hope everybody's doing well. Not to water it down the opposing team, which is the Dallas Mavericks, but as far as Kawhi Leonnar and the inflammation, I think the Clippers should be cautiously and careful as far as him playing, possibly in the first round. Keep in mind that the main reason Steve Bomber
went all in was to acquire James Harden for that reason alone. And I don't think they in the first round if they don't have Kawhi Leonard. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but the Dallas Mavericks are talented enough that if you don't have Kawhi, you're in deep trouble. Well, then you're gonna put Kawhi into trouble too, because this this is gonna require both speed and defense, and Kawhi does not have the speed for him
to play defense, and that's gonna wear him out. And that's what happened with the Phoenix Suns game. And keep in mind last year they didn't have James Harden, so you gotta keep all that happened against the Phoenix Suns was he torres meniscus. He played on it in game two and still drop thirty.
So I'm not sure where you're going with this. What happened in the second what happened in the second game, and then he dropped thirty in game two on the torn meniscus, and then he couldn't play anymore as and he swelled up. Okay, so when he was out there, it wasn't limiting him or making him as much poorer player as you say. He couldn't hang with them, he didn't have the speed he did. He at least played through it enough. I'm not saying you risk you know, a career altering
type of injury or anything like that. It's gonna come down to the doctors and Kawhi Leonard making this decision. So I don't want to speculate too much on what they should do or shouldn't do. With Kawhi Leonard, We're just along for the journey and we'll see what happens. Understood, I just say they say, hypothetically, did let it play out in the first two games, or playing in the at home kipper crowd and get a feel for it,
get a sense for the field for it. We we got Harding, we got Paul George, we got Terrence Mandek and the sink carry Urban Paul George, Luka doncik uh and we got Highland and Coffee and and and the backups with a tight uh tye and I forgot the Marvin. Do you think they could win a series if Kawhi Leonard doesn't play against Dallas? I think they can because if only Kyrie Irving and Donte lukik No, it's not PJ. Washington's there now, Daniel Gafford, have you heard they've been dominating.
They made a big trades at the deadline, understood, But our players are I know for you. We got Russell Westbrook. Our players can can beat them without Kawhi. I'm pretty sure they can at least I think they can definitely be competitive in a series even without Kawhi Leonard. But I don't know if you're going to be able to beat this Luka Doncics team without him.
Let's let's review how good Kawhi was and they had to still go to seven games in twenty twenty one with one of the greatest playoff performances I've ever seen. Kawhi Leonard shot sixty percent from the field on while scoring thirty points per game. Only Shaq had done that over a seven game series. That level of scoring with that much efficiency, that's what Kawhi Leonard did. He had forty five in Game six in a must win situation in Dallas, and their
fans were back. So I think it's a little bit hard to make the argument that without him they would have a chance to win. But I do think it would be competitive still. But I don't know. I have a lot of respect for this Dallas Mavericks team. I appreciate the phone call,
Marvin. I do think there are a lot of advantages the Clippers have, but there's a bit of a fear of the unknown, as much as they are aware of Luka Doncic, and of course they've had some regular season battles against Kyrie irving those two players known commodities, but they just haven't faced this Dallas team with the rim runners they have now, which open up a lot of different options for Luca, not just being you know, a step back
three point guy in the pick and roll, but also looking for guys on the run to the basket for you know, high level lobs. So we'll see. I'm hoping Kawhi Leonard will be available for Game one. Jose and Downey, you're a Clipper staff with out a malls in Hi Jose, Hey, anam how you doing? Man? It's been a while. I have to agree with you, man, I do have a high level of respect for this Dallas team is the whole different team. The Rim rocker and Gaffard
rim protector as well. The guy has had five blocks four times just since he came over from Washington to Dallas. Yeah, yeah, And I think that's one of the places where as much as I like Zoo and you know how much I like him, that's one of the places he's had trouble with with mobile centers. I mean, it's just hard to guard him, you know, when they're moving around so much under there. But also to the other thing in terms it does as a fan again, long time fan,
doesn't annoy me. Not knowing what is really going on with him. The other thing too, that doesn't really sit right with me. I'm a big PG guy. Knowing that you're going into the playoffs without having a contract. If you lose in the first round, I'm not too sure we're gonna keep pg Man. He might sign somewhere else. I think it depends a lot on having a full squad. So it's a big year in a big series. Uh. Look, we knew the stakes coming into this season, my
friends. We knew this could be a last dance situation. But Kawhi got the extension, and he said postgame on that day when he got it, he's pretty sure the rest of the guys are coming with him. Now. That could change, of course, but the stakes are very high right now. It's year five of this two and three experiment and they've yet to grab
the Larry O b mostly do because of injuries going on. I fully believe they would have won in twenty twenty one if Kawhi Leonon didn't go down, they were definitely better than Phoenix, and I think from what I saw against him and Giannis in the Eastern Conference Finals in twenty nineteen, more of the same would have happened with Kawhi locking him up some so I understand the concern. It's a lot of pressure for Paul George but these guys have been used
to that for a very long time. It just comes with the occupation. Eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty And you mentioned you won more transparency. Well, I read the quote from Lawrence Frank earlier. I don't know what else he's supposed to say. He said he's dealing with inflammation. That's what it is. He said, it's not uncommon over the course of it where you deal with inflammation. With
inflammation limits your ability to make some natural basketball moves. So he's working his tail off. The staff is working tail off to try to help with the inflammation. And he said it it's no secret he's had a couple of surgeries to that knee. That is what raised red flags to me initially when I heard it was his right knee, I said, uh, oh, that's the acl that's the meniscus, the tenetonopathy that was on his right side.
And I never assumed it was just load management. They're just resting Kawhi Leonard for the playoffs. That never made sense to me. They hadn't been doing it, and he missed a pretty big contest with big implications against the Denver Nuggets, and I thought, if you missed that game, it's not nothing. So people trying to compare it to well, Jamal Murray had inflammation and it missed two weeks and came back. Okay, it's a different player,
it's a different knee. He's five or six years younger, and I don't believe it was on his surgically repaired ACL torn knee where he had the information. I don't know how you can draw those parallels between players and their specific injuries like that. Everybody's different. We're hoping for the best from Kawhi Leonard.
Let's hear from coach Lou post game after the Clippers lose one ten to one O nine here in Game eighty one to the Utah Jazz, but they have the four spot locked up, which means home court in the first round against the Dallas Mavericks. Here was Coach Lou post game. Hey, coach, you know you guys are able to clinch the fourth seed. And when you just look at just the total seasons, it's all the things that you guys went through and things like that. Just do you ever look at yourself
and the job that you were able to do? You and your staff, and you know say, like man, we were able to put something together great, and now we're going to have to make this push. Yeah, I mean especially for our coaching staff. Like I said, our coach has done a great job, you know, all year just figuring out ways to get better, keeping guys engage that weren't playing so they can stay ready as well. But just you know, whatever our team needs to be successful when
our coaching staff has done that. And so I want to get those guys a lot of credit, you know, for just staying with it even think when things were tough, you know, just staying through all the tough times. And like I said, getting the four seed in a tough conference, you know, the Western Conference. I think you got four teams that won
fifty games, you know, and so it means a lot. Like I say, have a home court advantage, the first first round, winning fifty games, winning out a Vision for the first time, and ten years ten years, you know, So you know, it says a lot about just you know, staying with it, sticking with it even through tough times. And so I give our guys credit, our players, you know, as well as our coaching staff that twenty twenty one Conference Final one, it was
I've never heard this building as loud. You guys have home court events obviously for this first round. How much energy do you feel in this place doing how much is it amped up doing the playoffs? You yeah, very amped
up. And like I said, when we won that game against Utah, you know, to go to the conference finals just to hear the crowd, just to you know, see how lengthy stayed after the game and all the support, you know, and so I know it's tough because Kawhi went down, but just you know, to win two games against the number one seed, you know, on your home floor in game six meant a lot, and the crowd was played a big part of it. There was coach Lou
post game. Yeah, there's gonna be some pandemonium type of moments. I'll never forget Game six and then breaking the curse or breaking through the ceiling, whatever you want to say about them. Finally games the Western Conference Finals in the manner they did, coming back down twenty five against the Utah Jazz in the second half just insane and Clipper Nation showed up. So there were some people saying, you know, they're a better road team, this season than
they've been at home. Please, you want home court advantage whenever you can get it, and I think in this series it's going to be imperative. Really do I want to see them star faster too. I don't want to see them get down oh two having to go to the owls once again, where then they were down thirty to eleven in Game three and battled back and would eventually win the series. We'll take a quick time out, we'll come
back. We'll get back to your phone calls. Eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty is the phone number as we are previewing the Clippers first round matchup against the Dallas Mavericks and Luke at the dawn Round three. I'm at a mazled. You're listening to clipperstock here on the Patriot Amile in fifty every Clipper game all season low, they didn't stop playing hard. You're listening to the LA Clippers Audio Network streaming on
the iHeartRadio wave. Clippers lose one ten to one oh nine. Then a game that turned out to be inconsequential because they clinched the four seed right before they tipped off. They'll be taking on the Dallas Mavericks. We knew that they'll also have home court in the four to five matchup. Crypto dot Com Arena is the venue where live I Meta Moslin. This is the Patriot Am eleven fifty coming up. Back to your phone calls at eight seven seventy five
to zero eleven fifty plus. We'll hear from big Brother Jake Warner. But first Big Chuck Mockler is on the line from Clips and Dip for some double dip here on Clippers talk. So Charles h has somebody speculated the Dallas Mavericks decided to rest guys today and they kind of headed it over to the Clippers because they felt like it would be inevitable to the Clippers would clinch, so why not get a little rest And that's a nice strategic move on their part.
But any new thoughts or feelings on this matchup between the Clippers and Dallas Mavericks. Now the Clippers have home court secured, I don't know if I have any new thoughts. I am very happy for Clippers fans just to we get a full Crypto flash Staples against the Maps for the first time through this whole saga. So I'm really looking forward to see what kind of Clippers fans do and how they show out, because we know they're going to show out
this first round. But my thoughts are still kind of the same. This is going to be a blood bath, you know, I know, you know, we can point too who's gonna guard Kawhi was the best player in the series the last time these two teams played. Let's not forget that. Lucas very good, but he doesn't do what Kawhi does on the other end.
So yeah, I don't know if there's any new thoughts, but I'm excited to drill down into it over the next week or so to really kind of figure out what wrinkles the Clippers can throw out in the Bats, who are playing their best basketball maybe of the Luca era. So, speaking of Kawhi Leonard, we got a little bit more clarity on what's going on with him, and I think anyone who thought it was just load management or he was just resting before the playoffs, well you can put that to rest now.
Because Lawrence Frank came on Ballely Sports with Brian Semen and Jim Jackson and talked about the inflammation mentioned now, it's no secret he's had a couple of surgeries to that knee. It's his right knee, and with inflammation, quote, it limits your ability to make some natural basketball moves. So he's working his tail off. The staff is working their tail off to try to help
with the inflammation. And I just saw this. Brad Turner speaking with coach Lou postgame, pressed him on it, asked him twice about if Kawhi Leonard will be ready for Game one. His first response was, that is what we want to see. His second was hopefully he will be playing. Uh, feeling better or worse on the situation right now, John, I don't know. I've described this situation, you know, this year and kind of
how the Clippers have handled historically, even kind of pre Kawhi. The injury news is we're all just kind of floating, right, We're kind of floating waiting for Game one. We're waiting for the injury report, we're waiting for you know, he wasn't shoot around today, which is good, but we're all just kind of bobbing up and down here wait waiting the versa sack of
the knee. Yeah, I'm pretty I mean yeah, hopefully there's not that much fluid that we can all sit there around there, having had a swollen bee before it had to be drained. But I you know, I'm kind of going with the Lawberry philosophy. I think no one on the team seems super concerned, at least publicly while there every day at practice and things like that. The vibes don't seem you know, truncated or tense or anything like that. So I'm choosing to float and kick my feet and my arm,
floating towards the positivity channel. Because A we're not gonna get any more updates. The update we got from Laurence Frank tonight was the most we're going to get until we see the injury report, and B, yeah there's other things to stress about, I guess. But I don't feel better or worse, which if you were already feeling bad about it, probably makes you feel worse,
and if you are feeling good about it probably doesn't matter. So I'm kind of on the fence, and I'm just I'm going with the thought I'm paddling myself towards the positivity channel that we're gonna get, you know, some practice footage or some news like that the upcoming week, because if he hasn't played, if he doesn't play on Sunday, which I don't think he should given you know, the time and everything, you know, with the standings, having the seed locked up. Yeah, we we just got to wait.
I wish it were easier, but that's where we're at. I can see you with the ray bands on on an alligator floating right now. Yeah, exactly, the picturing in maybe a noodle. Uh pause. Uh So Clippers tonight lose by one to the Utah Jazz here at Crypto dot Com Arena, and once again Bones Highland showed out with twenty points seven of seventeen. Shooting was a spark for them as they tried to pull this one off late, couldn't get to go. Xavier Moon had a look at a three pointer.
Do you feel like Bones is building a case for you know, some real playoff minutes at some point, some real utility in the playoffs coming off the bench in a certain spot. Yeah, I think it a certain but he does have utility, right. I think the way to look at, you know, Bones's utility is kind of similar to what PJ. Tucker's usage
is going to be you know what I'm saying. Obviously very different utility, but I think the usage case for both these guys is the statement's going to be limited, you know, spurts in Bones case, maybe the Clippers eat a bucket. Maybe they just need a little extra juice and transition if those opportunities are open or something like that. Where he absolutely is he's we know he's not afraid of taking a shot, right, we know if it's there,
he's gonna go ahead and take it. So if the offensive stagnant, I can see Tye kind of pulling the emergency handle for Bones, just like how I think we're going to see some PJ. Tucker in the emergency situation. Maybe he tries to make things hard for Luca for a couple of minutes or something like that. But he does have a case. He wants the moment, which I think is something that Tyleru probably looks for too. And a guy, especially when it comes to playoff basketball. Yeah, Glilling shooter
a guy who does not shy away from the moment. As you mentioned there, he saw it. He got run against the Phoenix Suns. Obviously the Clippers were very much decimated in that series, but I think there were a lot of encouraging signs from bones Highland. Just when he knows he has the green light, when he knows he can get up ten or fifteen shots. And I'm not saying that would happen in a playoff series, but just when
he knows you have confidence in him. I think it makes a big difference obviously with young players, but especially bones Highland with kind of the up and very much down season, not from his point of view, I guess from a playing standpoint, just the fact that he wasn't out there on the court afterwards, you bring in Russe, you bring in James Harden and Russell Westbrooks in front of him in the pecking order too, it's just going to be
difficult to get minutes. That's very much understandable, Chuck. I had a question earlier from a caller, and I want to throw this hypothetical your way, and I guess he was making more of a statement and I kind of said, you know, I'm not so sure about that. To see what you think about this, you know, I want to double source it a little bit. But how competitive If Kawhi Leonard is not available for Game one
or some of the series. How competitive could this Clippers team be? Because, as the Collar brought up, that is one of the reasons they brought in James Harden for a situation like this, If somebody's out in a big moment, do they have enough talent to overcome it? Could you see that happening against Dallas O. Well, if you just look at what Kawhi Leonard did last time they played the MAVs, which was, you know, sometimes score forty five points in the game while also locking up or not locking up,
I should say I don't mean to playoff locking up. Let's say, you know what I mean, taking the assignment in moments that matter is kind of you know, playoff locking up. There's not one guy who does what Kawhi does on this team at all, and that's no disrespect to the other
guys. How good Kawi Letard is. Again on both ends, I'm going to go, I'm going to take your question the optimistic way, and we're just going to pretend, you know, like maybe Kawi, let's say he's not available for Game one, that makes things incredibly difficult for the Clippers. I love James Harden, I love Paul George, Terrence Man hitting a peak that is going to be needed if Kawhi Letterard can't go. But it would not surprise me for the Clippers to not be favored in Game one if Kawhi
letter can't go. He's very important for this team. Yes, this is why we got James Harden, but the large part of why we got James Harden is also regular season, you know time, you know, things for him to make things happen with the regular season. So because Kawhi is so good on both ends, it would be very difficult I think for the Clippers to win Game one without Kawhi. I would love to hear logical arguments as to why that's not the case. But it's tough for me to see someone
filling in the gaps that Kawhi Leonard's absence would I have. Yeah, I don't really know else what to say that he does. He's the best defensive player on the team and also the best offensive player on the team when it comes to the playoffs. So right, like, replacing that seems difficult for the Clippers. Yeah. The pushback I got was, well, they just have Luca and Kyrie. It's like, well, just having that mic enough and they don't just have nothing. They got a much deeper team now too.
I thought there was some encouraging signs tonight from James Harden with Burst attacking the basket, like some real quickness here. Did you see that too, Chuck? Yeah, I so, I you know, James wants to play. I think that's kind of what we've heard from law especially La Burry, you know, like he's been on their report. But James wants to play. And if James wants to play and he's showing this burst, that's perfect. Again, rest everybody on Sunday. I want to see the G League
guys on Sunday. I would love to see that. None of our main guys have to play. But I agree there was some encouraging stuff from James Harden. This is an older team. He's gonna need some time to know, you know, to get that burst back up and stuff like that. So James Harden touching the pate is a very you know, key thing for
the Clippers in this series. And he looks good. All the pick and roll with the new early right, we didn't see a bunch of it, and again just the nature of this game tonight, but we saw the lobbed Zoo. Terrence Man has been playing so well off of Harden. He's learned how to play great kind of next to him as a complimentary piece. So very encouraged by James Harden. Hope the injury isn't you know, the right foot inflammation isn't something that you know continues to be an issue in the playoffs.
I'm sure he's gonna be on the report. I wouldn't be surprised about that, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's held out of games. Yeah. The fact that he played tonight and they knew before tip off that they had clipped the four spot, I think that speaks to how he's feeling out there. I know he always wants to play, but I don't think they would have risked anything in a game of very little consequence if he was at all hurting or could exacerbate the injury anyway. He is Chuck Mockler of clips
in dip fame. I believe we'll have a utube at some point soon, maybe even tomorrow. Yeah, with Will Updike too. Yeah, is that we'll put now Chuck before we get out of here? Oh, I do think we have a third keyword to give away. It is now the time. Yes, now is the time for the third keyword. The third keyword for those dedicated listeners who want to win a James Harden with Cobe Bibblehead. The third keyword is do doo. That is the third keyword. I'm not
giving you the first two. The third keyword is do do happy. I got to say that on a five seventy excuse me the Patriot, So sorry, I'm glad I didn't have to say it. He is Chuck Mockler, Charles. Thanks for coming on to that. I appreciate it, my friend. Hey, thanks for having me. Let's go clips before we get out of here. We got big brother Jake Warner in the building, our head
engineer as always for game eighty one. Yes, sir, quickly, let me ask you something different, okay, because you're the only one that's qualified to answer. How loud it was here at Crypto during the twenty twenty one playoff run by the Clippers. You compared it to something, and I think this is special. It was second to Kobe Bryant getting his sixty point game in this last game. It was that comparable, and that's it. Second only to that second only to the sixth victory over the Jazz. That was
the loudest I've ever heard. His place next to that. Personally, Hell yeah, big bro, thanks for all you do. We'll see on something. Oh I'll be here before we get out of here. I do want to thank the Clippers organization. Ralph la'l O'Brian seeming no ego. Carlohman is on the call. The callers listeners, zach O call the zach attack back at Burbreak our producer talk to you at eleven thirty on Sunday. So why he was doing his thing. All they want to do is win in La.
