Transcript

Got your fall. It's time to react to La Clippers basketball. This is Clippers Talk all the chat, reaction and analysis hosted by Adam Osley. You know he's feeling good. Take the show with you anywhere you are and get the podcast. I'm the iHeart Radio and now your host. He makes everything happen. Adam Mosley Kawhi Leonard's Claus got on the basketball in the fourth quarter and he would not let go of a lead where the Clippers are up by

as many as eighteen. They go on to beat the New Orleans Pelicans one eleven to one oh six at Staples Center. Welcome in a Clipper suck. I'm Adam Oslin coming up on the show. We'll get to your phone calls at eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. I already tried to play call screener and accidentally hung up on Dale Dale call back. We'll get to you. Also get to

me at Follow Adam and my friend Jamal Christopher will be here. You know him on Twitter at Clippers two four seven the word and the word is. He is one of the best follows on Twitter for Clippers basketball. He means it. Twenty four seven is a real thing. I would say it's more like eight days a week Beatles style. With him, he's always talking about the Clippers. You'll also hear from the head coach to Ron lou postgame, and I think we have audio coming from Patrick Beverley as well. But the

Clippers were tested. They were up eighteen at the half. It looked like a game they could run away with. Didn't happen, and it was because of Alexander Walker for the New Orleans Pelicans, who did his best Steph Curry impersonation in the third quarter where he had fifteen of his thirty seven points there. He had twenty six of his total thirty seven points in the second half.

He was unbelievable. They are down three starters and that opens up opportunities for players who are trying to show off for the new head coach stan Van Gundi there in New Orleans, and I thought Alexander Walker, cousin of SGA Shay Gil just Alexander put on an unreal performance, especially in the second half and down the stretch. But Kawhi Leonard was just a little bit better. He had twelve of his twenty eight points in the fourth quarter, Alexander Walker

eleven. Kawhi outscored him and had almost half the Clippers points in the fourth. They finished with twenty eight points, but they were outscored by New Orleans who had thirty five. It was just a four point game three minutes into the fourth quarter, and I thought, here we go again. And I know, Clipper Nation, you have PTSD with blown leads from this team over the years, but now this is the fourth game so far this season and

they've only been twelve Clippers rating. Four were they had to push back late where they had to throw that punch after they were on the canvas for a second where there was almost a ten count, and then they ended up closing out the ball game. We saw it against the Los Angeles Lakers opening night, then against the Denver Nuggets, then against the Phoenix Suns on the road.

In each of those games there was some adversity where the Clippers led by as many as twenty points, just up by eighteen in this one, but you wanted to see them close it out with a flurry. There was some of that. When Kawhi Leonard came back in he had nine points in his first four minutes back on the floor in the fourth quarter, and the Clippers went from being just up four to back up twelve. But the Pelicans simply

didn't go away. Even though brandon Ingram overall only had twenty two points, he had I think thirteen of those in the second half, and they were making big shots, and they were hitting threes all of a sudden. They finished with ten three pointers the Clippers eighteen of thirty seven. We've talked about off in this season. This maybe the six games so far where the Clippers

have shot better from three than they did from two. And there were huge three pointers, the old school three point play, first from PG thirteen, who hit a ridiculous Steve Nash esque circus shot where it hit off the top of the backboard and rolled in. He'd get the a one. Then he hit a three pointer late in the game. Kawhi Leonard, who hadn't hit a three pointer going into the fourth would hit one, and so would Patrick Beverly, who was prone to hitting a three pointer late and fourth quarters.

When they need a big play, a winning play late in the game. Patrick Beverly is there for you, and he finished with ten points. Also two steals, two blocks where his assignment just lost track of him and Patrick Beverley was able to swipe it away from behind the guy who was on offense. Just incredible stuff. Plus one of those steals came in the fourth quarter. It was a big momentum play and he would end up passing into Serge

Ibaka for the easy two on a fast break. But the Pelicans still had it close down six late and they got into a fast break situation after the Clippers miss, and I thought the Clippers defense really clamped down. There were some signs of clamp City. And it was Kawhi Leonard who was all over the place defensively on that final possession for the New Orleans Pelicans because they had

numbers for a second. And then I think it was Kawhi and Brandon Ingram in the corner and he caused them and their offense to completely slow down and be stuck in mud. And this is one of these slower offenses in the league when it comes to pace. Same with the Clippers, but this was also a team in the New Orleans Pelicans that was giving up a lot of

three pointers. In fact, no one gives up more three point attempts than they have this season, and teams are shooting a high percentage against them too. But the Clippers forty eight percent from three, seven percent from the field, and I think it correlates with what Paul George has been doing. He had six crucial points six of his twenty seven in the fourth quarter. I mentioned the three in the N one, but he goes five of nine from

distance. He's shooting better from three than he is from two, and he's shooting forty nine points something from two. So he's shooting over fifty percent from three on the season, seventy percent from three from the corners. He looks as good as he ever has in his career at the age of thirty, and to me, he looks even better than he did two years ago when

he was third in MVP voting. It's early, but the stat lines and the shooting percentages that he is putting up right now, we're talking about somebody that's going for fifty fifty ninety, which is what Jamal Murray did at times in the bubble, and he said, ah bubble effect. We'll see if it translates back and things get a little bit more normal here in this regular season, but Paul George has just been as good as anyone in the league

so far. And I saw this on NBA dot Com. I think it was late last week where they had him top five or top three in MVP voting. Once again, it's early to be talking about this, but if he continues to play like this and look, nobody, I don't know if anyone with a number of attempts that he has taken, has ever shot fifty percent from three in a season when you're taking at least one hundred three pointers. I don't think that's ever happened. But he's taking over eight per game.

Took nine in this one and made five. What he's doing is special, the efficiency, and we saw some of it last season and he was very good in limitsed minutes. He just wasn't playing as many played thirty eight tonight. He's healthy, Kawhi Leonard's healthier. He's played back to backs now and Kawhi would just go eight of eighteen but hit two three pointers. I

think both of those came in the fourth quarter. And then once again and it maybe the fifth time so far this season this has happened where it's your two superstars leading you and assists. Kauai had nine that led everyone. Paul George had six. Of their thirty five made shots, twenty six of them were assisted. That's seventy five percent of your maid shots assisted. So they're doing some real good things offensively. When it comes to ball moving right now,

especially in the first half, I thought it was spectacular. The only issue was the New Orleans Pelicans were doing what they do best out rebounding the Clippers. They would finish a plus twelve on the boards, but they would get twelve offensive rebounds. Here's the good news, though, the Clippers were much better in that area in the second half. The Pelicans had ten offensive rebounds on the first half, just two in the second half, So the

Clippers did clean things up on the boards eventually. But even though New Orleans they weren't shooting very well in the first quarter and a half, they were able to get up more shots due to offensive rebounds. We knew that was one of the keys coming into this one. The Clippers eventually corrected that,

but the Clippers also ended up attempting twenty seven free throws. That is what you want to see, because that's about the amount they averaged the last two years when they led the league in free throw attempts while shooting it very efficiently from the charity stripe. I believe they were top ten, but they were bottom five in free throw attempts coming into tonight's game. There's been a shift there that's starting to change, and head coach Toront Lewis talked about this recently.

He said, quote, when we get into the paint, we're a different team. It's not just that they're scoring in the paint. They only had twenty points in the paint tonight compared to fifty two for the Pelicans, but it leads to kickouts in those open three point shots, and the passing on the perimeter has been so good. I credit Nicholas Batum a lot for that. He had two of their first four assists. I think it was he had or two of the two assists to two mate three pointers to start

off the ball game by Patrick Beverley. He went three of seven from distance, but hit his first two and then hit the big one late in the fourth quarter, and Nicholas batoum assisted him on his first two three pointers. They get off to good starts offensively because I think Nicholas Batum Saint Nick has

just been a godsend for this team. I've been saying it over and over again, but you can't say enough about what he's been able to do with this offense and keep them in the flow of their offense more often now than what we saw last season. Yes, they were second offensively, but there were still times where they go into these lolls. It was strange and they'd have these hiccups. And he has smoothed out the wrinkles in the offense so

far this season. Where the Clippers starting unit with Nick Batum in it, next to Kawhi Leonard, Sergebaka, Patrick Beverly and Paul George, they're a plus thirty out there with their net rating Pearl one hundred possessions. That's at the top in the NBA. Someone else, who I thought, and this is huge for the bench, has to start playing better. And we just heard about this abdominal injury going into the game with a visa zoobots and maybe

that accounts for why the last week and a half he has struggled. But I thought he played his best game in his last six Now nine points, seven boards off the bench in twenty two minutes was three of three from the field, and when things started to turn in their favor on the boards, he was a part of that. Big Zoo played to his size more so in the second half. Clippers win one eleven to one oh six over the New Orleans Pelicans, even with an unreal effort by Alexander Walker. Continue to

pay attention to him moving forward. I know stan Van Gundhi's taking notes. That is someone who who may pick up some playing time now with the Pelicans. But the Clippers didn't play play around and get burnt here. It was a four point game in the fourth quarter. The Clippers held on to win by five over New Orleans. Coming up next, we'll get to your phone calls Dale hold On, Jeff hold On. But my friend Jamal Christopher, you know him as Clippers twenty four seven on Twitter. He's gonna be here.

I'd say the Party's over, Jamal, but just getting started with you coming on the Clippers talk here and we had to play that track from you as well. Again, I appreciate it. Man. Jamal is at Clippers twenty four seven on Twitter. He's become a legend there. People even remember his old at sign. But twenty four seven is what it's all about talking about this

Clippers team. Jamal, what did you see in this game? Because once again the Clippers, well they had a little bit of a let up, but once again, like three other games so far this season, they were able to hold on late and this time it was just Kawhi Leonard really taking over. Man. First off, yeah, I definitely appreciate it. I heard the party's over as we were getting started and bad just blew me away.

That was a great man. I appreciate it. Man, you got But yeah, me personally, many they've best some work to do defensively for sure. However, I'm not too worried to kill Alexander is the story tonight. He was awesome. If anybody's really in tune with like the Pelicans, like he has some ability, like he can really go, So him going off like this is a surprise. But like you know, with no Zion, with no Alonzo, I kind of expected him to be pretty good tonight.

And I was saying this on Twitter. In this climate, there aren't gonna be many easy games, Like it's it's a season unlike any other, so especially we don't even know the next game might be postponed, So you gotta take your wins when you can get him. I thought Kawai and Paul George were fantastic in terms of shutting the door. Them too. They've just been great to Stark a year man, especially Paul George right, like he's he's been incredible to Stark a year. But yeah, it's a process.

It's a say they've got I really want them to improve on the defensive end, and I really do need them to find a way to start generating more threes. Those are the two biggest glaring things to me to start the year. But it's a process. It's January. You want to be your best at April and Ford instead of like in January. You know. Jamal Christopher is our guest here on Clippers Talk. Follow him on Twitter at Clippers the number twenty four, the words seven, Jamal, you bring up PG thirteen

who has been otherworldly with his shooting from three so far. And when you talk about this team, maybe it's tempting more three pointers per game. Even though they got up thirty seven in this one. They are the best shooting team from three so so far this season. A lot of that is PG thirteen, But even him taking nine, you kind of look at and go when you're that hot as he's been these first twelve games. Take eleven, take twelve, take fifteen. Do what Danny Green did the other night.

Do we want to? I say, more from Paul George, just on the outside, because if it ain't broke, don't fix it. He hasn't cooled off yet. Yeah, yeah, I mean, and not just him, Luke Kahnar can stand to be a little bit more aggressive. I think Kawai it may come a little bit harder for him to generate threes. And just because like his shot, Die is different from Paul George, and I think just mechanically his shot doesn't may not allow him to do it as much.

But I think he can stand to shoot more. But yeah, when it comes to Paul George, man like man like, we need him to be that dynamic guy for us, like he is the one guy on the Clippers that can generate twelve to thirteen threes by himself. You know, I don't mean to like jump ahead or like I don't know, but like the Nets just got James Harden today, Like James Hardy will shoot thirteen fourteen threes, right, like the Lakers have Lebron and ad Like, we need Paul

George to be at that tier. And so far he has been. He's been great. But going forward, I do it expects some regression when it regression when it comes to shooting. He's gonna like tell off a little bit because he's just out of He's having an out of body experience to start the year. But what does that look like when when you know, he kind of cools down a bit, and so we need him to start shooting more

threes. I need the Clippers to get from like seventeenth or sixteenth, I don't know what it is in terms of three point attempts in the league. They've got to get that up. They're too good of a shooting team to do it, and a lot of that falls on Paul George. Clippers win

one eleven to one oh six over the New Orleans Pelicans. One of the other aspects we're seeing with PG thirteen and just from everyone, including Kawhi Leonard Tonight, who led them with nine assists, is having your superstars be more of your playmakers. This season, the clipp has ended up with twenty six assists to just ten turnovers. The ten turnovers probably saved them in the Paul game overall, because it's not like the New Orleans Pelicans were turning the ball

over and they were getting more shots off of offensive rebounds. But a lot of the talk coming into this year and it's continued and people have called me here on Clipper's talk, is about do they still need a more traditional point guard with the way they've been moving the basketball? Though, to me, it's harder to defend a team when you don't know where the attack is coming

from, and I'm not sure they need that prototypical point guard. If PG thirteen is going to be passing like this, and if Kawhi Leonard's doing the same, I totally agree. I think Tylu has done a great job in terms of putting the ball in Kawaii and Paul George's hands. I like to take the long view on things, and I do think Paul George as great as he's been with the ball in his hands to start the year, I think it'll even be better in April and May because of the reps that he's

getting right now. So I look forward to that. And my whole thing with the Clippers need in a point guard is, for one, if you just look at any metric with Pat Beverley in the lineup, the Clippers are are world world beaters. And this goes back to last year, right, Like their starters are are awesome. So the answer isn't to find another point

guard, it's to find somebody to back up Pat bed. My whole thing when it comes to the point guard issue is like even dating back to the off season, like you look at some of the names that people were throwing around for the Clippers to get, and I'm just like, so you'd rather that guy have the ball in a playoff series instead of Paul Georgia Kauai, Like why not just let Paul George and Kauai make the play. It's gonna end up in their hands anyway, right, especially when you're running that triangle

at times? Yeah, yeah, exactly. And it's like, you know when Phil ran the triangle. Who was the point guard? Right it was it was Ron Harper, it was Derek Fisher, like these and you wont championships with it, right Like, you don't need the dynamic point guard. Now, if we could have got like Chris Paul or something like you obviously

do it like that'd be fantastic. But you know, I'm some of the names that were out there, Like, I'd rather have the ball in the hands of Paul George, and so I do look forward to like how Paul George looks as the point guard come playoff time. I think the turnovers will come down. I think the chemistry it looks great, and I think it'll get even better. But yeah, I just like I like the playoff process, right Like, I like, those guys are gonna have the ball in

their hands come playoff time. Let's give it to them. Now, get the reps up. I think Kawaii and Paul George both played around thirty eight minutes tonight. Again, I like ty Lou just saying, hey, you guys are are franchise guys and we're gonna ride you like you because we're gonna need it. So yeah, I'm not a big fan of the whole Clippers need a point guard thing. Pgs it to me. Hey, we've been on the same page, cut from the same cloth, going back a year

now since we found each other on Twitter. We're arguing with other people. We're the two one three connection at times bodying bad takes on Twitter. It's Jamal Christopher. He's my guest here on Clippers Talk. Clippers twenty four seven is his handle on Twitter. Finally, Jamal because when they have relinquished leads, when they lost that game to the Golden State Warriors, when they have

played poorly, it's been the bench that struggled. And I asked LA Clippers film this the other day too, But how long do you think it's going to take for this bench to really come together and crystallize? When you take into account that Marcus Morris, this is just his fourth game so far now a Visa Zoobots is also someone who's a former starter now coming off the bench. Oh, I think it's going to be a season long thing, seasonal

thing, I tweeted. I tweeted about it after we blew the lead to go to State, like the Clippers aren't ready were Like I think when it's all said and done, the Clippers will be the best team in basketball. I do like the role players they have in the acquisitions that they've made this past all season, but they aren't there yet. In a big part of that is a bitch, But I personally believe that a lot of that has

to do with the way the roster is constructed this year. They're just a lot less dynamic, and that's because it looks like they're placing their instasis. It's on process that's more likely to be replicated in the playoffs. Right, So it's gonna be tougher in a regular season because you don't have somebody who can get you eighteen and seven in his sleep, like Montrez right, Like, you don't have that, So it's it's it's a process, but you

keep grinding it out. I don't worry about wins and losses with this group. They'll be fine. They'll end up with a hop to a top three seed. I really do think they need to shoot for the one seed. It's very important. But yeah, it's gonna be a year long process. Man. There's no short there's no shortcuts. You can't short any corners when

you're trying to win a championship. But the thing I like to say is it's okay, it's just work like I feel like a lot of times last year, that was one of the biggest criticisms with the Clippers is they didn't take the regular season seriously. They did take kind of a short cut type of method where it's like, Okay, once we get to the playoffs, we'll be the team we want to be. And it didn't turn out like that. So why not just enjoy the process, enjoy the grind. This

is gonna be a year long thing, but you can already see. I think Luke Canard has been solid, Abaca has been great, Pat Beverley it's been awesome. There's has been a lot of great things going on. We got a great Blue game against Chicago. I hope he's good. I think he was a little bit banged up tonight. But yeah, yeah, it's a process, man, It's a process, and we're moving through it. But I think in the end we'll be satisfied with the result for sure.

But yeah, it'll take a lot sixty games left here in the regular season. We'll enjoy the entire journey. Enjoying listening to Jamal Christopher here on Clippers Stock again. Follow him at Clippers twenty four seven on Twitter. Jamal, thanks for the knowledge spoken knowledge. This time around. We normally just do it on Twitter. Thanks for coming on clipper Stock tonight. Nah, thank you, bro. I hope this isn't the last time. Man. This has been great. Man. I sincerely want to do it again. Let's

do it next week. I've called call just let me know. You know, I'm be my own producer. I'm gonna say you're coming on next week? All right? Sound good? But there he goes Jamal Christopher. Follow him at Clippers two four seven. Listen to his music under the name Jamal Christopher on Spotify, iTunes wherever you stream and download your music from, and hear him narrate on the Clippers Write the Story feature presented by Cedar SIGNI coming up. We'll get to your phone. Calls Dale, Jeff hold on,

We'll get to you. This is Clippers Talk. Get to us at eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy or I'm at Follow Adam A on Twitter. Clippers win one eleven to one oh six over the New Orleans Pelicans I got some New Orleans horns in there. I like that. This is Jabal Christopher's song parties over by the way, clipperstalk isn't more coming up next? Right here on the M five seventy l A Sports the Clippers drop that M eighty three from three.

They go eighteen of thirty seven. That's almost fifty percent from dis eleven three pointers made in the first half, seven more in the second half, some clutch ones late from Kawhi Leonard, who else, Paul George and Patrick Beverley. They win one eleven to one oh six over the New Orleans Pelicans. This is Clipper suck. I'm atam oslind eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number Dale in Pasadena. Dale, I'm sorry for

hanging up on you earlier. That's my bad. Good what's up? Dale? Hi? Yeah, that's Benn Show. I just have a quick, quick, quick concern with this Clippers team right now, and it's just players going off with these high numbers. I know it's early, but Steph had thirty eighth the other night, Zach forty five, and Alexander Walker tonight with thirty seven. That's the problem. We had last year in the playoffs. We couldn't stop players when I got hot, Luca and Jamal and then even

Yoke it's it's I don't like it. And then by the time we put Kawaan a guy who's already written, and I think that we definitely did need to dress it. I liked the Tombs links, but his lateral quickness from my eye, doesn't look like how it used to be his Portland day's early Charlotte days. And I'm wondering if he switched more into the starting lineup, would that be a better defensively with his side And he's like Grit that's just

concerned to mine. Other players getting really really hot and we can't really st them down. I don't like it. Dale. I like your phone call, a little bit of negativity, but some good points the Clippers. Now,

overall in this game, Nikkila Alexander Walker was insane. It was Walker Texas Rangers around house kicked to the Clippers with the thirty seven points, but they did hold down brandon Ingram. He finished under his average of twenty four, just had twenty two on eight of nineteen shooting, started two of eleven in the first half, and in Game one against Steph he was I want to say five of seventeen from the field. They held down Devin Booker,

So they good against stars at times. And I do love head coach Tron Lu's philosophy as of you have to give them different looks. So even if you're talking about Nicholas batoum there and if he's at thirty one lacking a little bit of that lateral movement that he had back in his Portland days, I still think the onslaught of defenders they can throw your way, can throw off

teams and superstars. With the strategy that head coach toront Lou uses, I think it's the right move to just give them different looks because eventually you put one guy on them, you'll get figured out. Clippers win one eleven to one oh six over the New Orleans Pelicans. Let's hear from the head coach t Lou postgame speaking with the media. Lou's all right, I saw that he didn't play in the second half. Was that hip bothering him? And

do you know how he's gonna feel moving forward? Is he going to be available? Not sure yet. I mean, he just has some hip sorts tonight, I'll be trying to play and at half time I just said it was it was pretty sore, so we don't want to chance it and put him in in that second half. Okay, we'll move over to Jamie Hey, coach said, how would you assess the team's performance tonight? My thought was good. I thought first half, you know, I thought the fifth

will we were really good. I thought, you know, first half, we really had the ball hopping and moving. In that third quarter, I just thought we got away from what we've been doing. You know, they was blitzing and we was making the extra pass, making the flow pass, and he was able to pick them apart. And then that third quarter, I thought, we trying to force it and try to beat the double team.

But you know, overall, I think, you know, our guys kind of probably got a little tired because Louis out of the rotation and guys had to play a little bit more minutes. So took away from all that extra ball handling and our playmaker and guys had to play a little bit more

minutes. Let's move over to Nick Camilson. Hey, coach, it seemed like the New Orleans Pelicans really took you guys away from the basket quite a bit as you're normally accustomed to wild make them so successful in how we still like to overcome and still get the W. Tonight I was like, can you say it again? Please? No, I said, it seemed like tonight the New Orleans Pelicans defense really kept you guys out of the paint as

far as being able to score in the paint. But you guys are still able to prevail and get the W. Would make them so difficult to keep you guys out of the paint like that. I think Adam's being up on a pick and roll and blitzen, you know. I think picking rolls a big part of our game, and with him being up the floor and blitzen all the time, it's made it a little tougher to get into the paint.

You know. But I thought we did a good job. I'm still trying to attack and still making the right play in the right past, you know. Having twenty six assist at night, you know, it's pretty good for us. Let's move over to Miriam. It's right. Obviously you guys had a bunch of threes again today and have to shot. You guys took with threes is a matter of confidence building. Obviously, he's a bunch of good three point shooters on this team, but the more you guys hit him,

you can hit him. I just think taking the right threes. I think playing the right way it's the biggest thing for us. And we really had the ball hopping tonight early on, and we still have some possession in the fourth I mean in the second half when the ball moved as well. But we just got continue to play the right way through the game. And you know, I thought, you know, Walker was really good tonight. We did a good job on Ingram Toomba really really did a good job on

him. And you know, I was in the Walker had one of those games and those are the dangerous games when guy's gonna get more touches, gonna get more minutes, and they're playing free. And he had a hell of a game tonight. Let's move over to Lot Murray. It's I congratulations on the win. And you mentioned before the game that just because certain guys are out doesn't mean that it's not going to be a tough game. And even with the Clippers going up eighteen at half time, that's kind of how the

second half played out. You've seen a lot of these games already where a team has its playing from behind, they get some momentum, and you've seen a lot of games where a guard in particular the field tonight, you get taught. How do you balance that poise that you want to project to your team and whatever frustration that you they have with this feeling of here it is, it's happening again. We have to like push through a tougher game than

what might have been anticipated earlier. Yeah, just think games like this are dangerous, you know, when key guys are out, Like you said, you really you know, sometimes you let your guard down. I thought the first half we really didn't. I thought we really did a good job of coming out with a professional focus. And I just thought that third quarter we got some shots. We didn't make it early, and like I said on Walker just really kept him in the game single handling. I thought he made

threes, he made lay ups, he made in between pull ups. He pretty much got everything he wanted tonight. But you know, we stuck with our game plan or try and take Ingram mind of the game, which I thought we did a decent job of. And like you said, Walker had a good had a good game. Clippers win one eleven to one oh six over the New Orleans Pelicans. There was the head coach Toron Loup. Post game. Clippers ended up getting to the line twenty seven times with they attempted

twenty seven free throws. They ended up making eleven more free throws than New Orleans. That's been a key part of this team's game the last two years with the Clippers. They have to keep that going, even if you aren't scoring as much in the paint. Getting in there leads to fouls and kickouts for open threes. We've seen a lot of that. They have to continue to play downhill and to play with force, and I thought they did when they had too late to hold on more Clippers stock coming up next, I'm

Clippers win one eleven to one oh six over the New Orleans Pelicans. New Orleans ends up taking fourteen more shots from the field than the Clippers, with the Clippers hit heat more three pointers, take eleven more or hit eleven more shots at the free throw line, and they improved to eight and four on the season. Jeff and Tarzana, Jeff, you're on Clippers stock with Adam Moslin. Sorry for making you weight, Okay, Adam, you've already done that a few times this year. Well, if you're used to it,

then yeah, I want to apologize. I've conditioned to you. I'm happy with the Clippers winning. But when a team like New Orleans has got three of the top guys out and you have an eighteen point lead and a half, remember I told you earlier this year, Adam, they don't have the killer instinct. Somehow they lit up, and I know they're not the only team that does that. But you know, if they lived at consistent where they don't live up, Kawhii and Paul George won't have to be playing as

many minutes as they have and they could be healthier. And now I was wondering. I was wondering if you think that the Clippers, like I've told you for a couple of years now that they played down to the competition level of the team they're playing against. I mean, it depends on what team you're talking about. This team, this iteration, this version of the Clippers has really only come about since last year with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

But you're right, there were times last season where they had let downs and teams came back on them in the same manner that the Clippers team with Lou Williams and Montrez Harrold and Patrick Beverlely, that team from the year before would come back on everybody else. So I think there's something to being the hunted

more often than not, and these Clippers have to adjust to it. But I still think it's encouraging Jeff that the fourth time or this has happened five times this season where the Clippers have let a team get back in to it, but in four of those five times they find a way to close out the game. Now, long term, do they need to get better? Do they need to extend leads out of the half? Do they need to put their pedal to the metal and put their foot on the guy's neck so

to speak? As the saying goes, yes, I think it'll come. I think it's a lot of chemistry stuff right now. And one other things. With the trade of James Harden today and all the players at Houston got, you expect them to improve and what you thought they might have been if they kept hard the whole season. And I really believe, and I'll tell you something and mine might be wrong. I think the Clippers are gonna make a trade before the trade deadline. Well I wouldn't be shocked to see that

they've done it the last couple of trade deadlines. This front office always keeps us guessing. They always got something up their sleeve. Pertaining to the Houston Rockets. Well, I'll put it like this, if James Harden stayed and continued to play at the level that he was, which wasn't at that high

of a level, he seemed disinterested. If you saw some of his play last night against the Lakers, right before the postgame press conference, where he made it clear he wanted to be traded, that's not James Harden at his best. So yeah, I do think with Victor Oladipo meshing with John Wall and Christian Wood, they could be a little bit better this season than they would have been with James Harden not giving it his all. However, in

Brooklyn, I think he's gonna flip the switch. You're gonna see him lose ten pounds in the next two weeks. He's gonna get in gear. And I thought the Brooklyn Nets already were right there with the Lakers and the Clippers as being one of the top three teams in the league if fully healthy. To me, their ceiling is higher. I also think their floor could be a little bit lower because of combustible personalities and we don't know what's happening with

Kyrie Irving. Well, it's gonna be fascinating watching that team though. I'm just happy Duran is healthy, like really healthy, like Dominique coming off the Achilles and making it look like nothing healthy. That's just good for the game. Clippers.
