Breaking down today's action with the pre and post game voice. If you're LA Clippers, they're locking in every game every night, Adam ousled the Clippers grind out a victory in the Grindhouse in Memphis. They win one oh one
to ninety five over the Grizzlies as they came through late. Welcome into your postgame show coming up. We have Clippers sock for you on AM five seventy LA Sports eight sixty six ninety seven two five seventy if you'd like to get on early. But first back out to Memphis and back to your radio voice of the Clippers in Carlo Jumenez. Carlo, what are performance by this squad when they had to have it with under five minutes left? As you mentioned,
this is what they do. They show up during clutch time. They have been so so good in clutch time since the start of December and a big time win tonight, Adam, How great is the NBA. I mean, where were we twenty four hours ago? We were sad, we were worried, confused. Today is a new day and the Clippers come away with a big time win. Come back late, Paul George. It's a huge three with a man seven minutes left that tipped the lead to the Clippers.
And it felt like that really swung things the Clippers way. They were no longer playing from behind. They were playing with the lead late in this one, and they were able to hold that lead all the way to the final buzzer. How about Kawhi Leonard also with that swipe and score with the big throwdown with a minute thirty five left to take back the lead at ninety four
to ninety three. He is a two way superstar. In case you didn't know, I mean, if Kawhi Leonard didn't play basketball, free safety wouldn't be a bad second choice. He is just everywhere, especially on the backside of defenses at him. That huge wingspan in those massive hands, it allows him to get to skip passes that I don't think a lot of the NBA can get. That was a great steal off the Fingertips just took it the other way. I mean, you've mentioned it earlier in the season, but
this was another example. Kawhi Leonards springs are at an all time level. This guy is getting up, He's attacking the rim with ferocity. He does not care who's jumping. He says, I'm going to the rim jump with me. I dare you, and he continues to make big play after big play. I can think of two huge dunks he had tonight. In this one, Leonard set the tone once again. The Clippers followed, and in maybe a game where Paul George doesn't have it totally going from the field,
James Harden was one for eight. The Clippers pull it out. It's not about how you win, it's about getting wins at this part of the season, and the Clippers got the win they needed tonight in Memphis, a much needed victory for the Clippers was just twenty seven games remaining before the playoffs. You mentioned the consistency throughout this one from Kawhi Leonard. I think a Terrence Man as well in that category. They don't win this ball game without team
man starting off hot, closing strong as well. Yeah, I mean, he had ten points in the first four minutes. He was so good and then five of his twelve rebounds were on the offensive glass, getting his teammates open four to eight from three. When Terrence Man was as cold as an article to start the season, Crop props to you at him. You kept preaching, Hey, he's gonna figure it out. He's gonna turn it around.
Since the turn of the new year, he's shooting fifty percent from three five zero on almost three attempts a game, and tonight was a big time performance on Q four for eight from distance with the season high and a double double. The Clippers go on to win one oh one to ninety five in Memphis over the Grizzlies. They split the two game road trip. They're back at Crypto's Sunday night. It's a Pack Div contest against the Sacramento Kings.

Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six
six, nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's see Clippers win this one by six. They were down by six at the half. Kawhi Leonard, though did have ten points, so he would double it up in the third quarter. Out to Leonard, another left wing three, a different results the right corner. Leonard sets his feet dry, his faceline to the rim, packs it with the right hand, the claw with a ferocious jam to ride elbow with six to shoot rises from the mid range.
Rattles in Leonard with a big time bucket Kawhi looking up, put the cap on the corner side step. Pump fakes a three gun its Leonard buries it ahead of the horn. Unbelievably clutched performance by the claw. I guess not that unbelievably, because it is Kawhi Leonard. He had ten more points in that third quarter, including the three at the buzzer to put the Clippers up
seventy nine to seventy five heading into the fourth. The fourth quarter was back and forth, and some Clippers who were having some cold shooting Knights eventually found their shooting stroke late. Hardens chroddling the three point line straight away, finds George open left wing three. Theerries it and Paul George delivered it. Time out. Taylor Jenkins Jared Jackson Junior double team STIPs it. Leonard a steal. He's got a red cartment all right in and flush the claw. The
scooping score and it's a one point Clipper lead. Looking for space, he puro Wentz in a paint, Harden strips him. Clippers the other way, coffee into the front court. Euro steps flift in and layup blocked man a put back thunk seven to shoot back to Harden left edge of the arc with five with four step back three. There is it. James Harden a crown quieter. James Harden was oh verst seven in the ball game and hit the
biggest shot. That step back three pointer finished with nine points, helped finish off the Memphis Grizzlies. Is that the Clippers would go on to win one one to ninety five in Memphis. They're heading back home to take on the Kings at Cryptos Sunday night. More on that coming up, plus postgame audio from the head coach and the players. You're listening to the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network. Yeah, they start from the bottom arrent. LA Clippers basketball

ninety five over the Grizzlies. Welcome back into your postgame show. I'm at a Maslin Coming up in just moments, we'll have Clippers talk on AM five to seventy LA Sports eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine, eight, seven, two five seventy or get to me at follow out of me on X. The Clippers somehow, some way pulled out of victory. They really had no business winning. But this is what they do, and this is what great teams do. You don't have your best,
you still find a way to win. That's certainly exemplifies what we saw tonight. Terrence Man with twenty three points for your Los Angeles Clippers. That is a season high. He went four to eight from distance, huge putback dunk late in the ballgame. Terrence Man. They don't win this game without him, same with Kawhi Leonard, but that's pretty much always the case. Twenty four points for him, the steal and score late, the huge throw
down himself. Paul George came around with the Big three late, as did James Harden his only make of the ballgame. The three Dagga and the Clippers would go on to win and grind it out fashion bit of a rock fight, one oh one to ninety five in Memphis over the Grizzlies. Six thirty Tip time against the Kings at Cryptos Sunday Night, five thirty is your pregame show outside of Los Angeles. We'll talk to you then in LA It's Clippers Talk next. A loss in Memphis to this Grizzlies team would be too much for a Clipper nation to have to bear, and the
Clippers came through late. One oh one to ninety five is your final woo Who's sweating? Not me? What do you guys are nervous? Not me? Ah, Welcome in to Clippers Talk. I'm an am oslind A necessary victory, maybe not a must win. There's still twenty seven games left, but considering how tough the schedule gets, they had to have this one, especially bouncing back after losing last night in OKC. If you want to be a top three seed, this is the game. This is the type of
team you have to beat. You gotta handle your business against lesser competition. Memphis is down right now. They're missing a ton of guys, and the Clippers played down to them throughout most of this game, but just pulled out a victory and won by six. Okay, coming up on the show, we'll get to your phone calls eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy
eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy or get to me. I follow Adam a on x still looking for postgame audio from the head coach and the players. I saw. Terrence Man was interviewed on KTLA five. There's a reason for that they have zero shot in this game without Terrence Man, not just because of the way he closed, but because of the energy he brought from the start. Well, it was lacking from plenty of other guys.
Terrence Man had ten points in the first couple of minutes. Unfortunately, he picked up a foul early on in the first It was phantom, but he had to go to the bench. And there was just a ripple effect of the Clippers not having any timing with different lineups that they were going to out there. A player we hadn't seen since November twenty seventh, I believe was the last time PJ. Tucker played, and you could see they didn't
have the continuity. I understand why coach lou was trying some different rotations, why PJ Tucker was back in it. Mason Plumley hasn't played well really since he came back from injury. Got just eight minutes in this one. Daniel Tice. They will need him still too, But you got seventeen games coming up in March. PJ. Tucker still on the team, Let's see what you have. He and Bones Highland were away from the squad during the All
Star break. They were frustrated they didn't get traded. I thought PJ. Tucker made a bit of an impact late in the third quarter, had an offensive rebound that ended up into the hands of Kawhi Leonard who knocked down a jumper, who then knocked down a three pointer to end that third quarter, a crucial momentum play to put the Clippers up by four heading into the fourth, and I saw PJ. Tucker moving laterally just fine on the perimeter.
I think there is a role for him on this team still when you have so many games coming up, so concentrated and condensed in a short amount of time, you're gonna have to dig deep into your bench. So coach Lew was seeing what he had, what options he's gonna have moving forward, what lineups he can throw out there. I don't blame him, especially for trying this stuff against Memphis, And it was all in the first half. The second half, they got back to basics. They got back to the starters.
A Mere Coffee, who had a rare off night just one of six two points, missed a bucket in transition that Terrence Man would throw down after a steal by James Harden. Doc Rivers used to say something that stuck with me. When what you do best isn't working for you that night, how else can you help the team? And James Harden was er verse seven before knocking down the biggest shot of the game, a step back three pointer, unbelievable with forty six seconds left to put the Clippers up by four. Memphis
would eventually play the foul game. The Clippers put them away, but James Harden getting that steal leading to that Terrence Man put back dunk off the mists from a Mere Coffee with a minute eleven left. It's a big play shows he was still engaged. Your offense isn't working. He had four turnovers, eight assists, but four turnovers. The Clippers were miserable when it came to
taking care of the basketball. They had twenty turnovers as a team. In the first half, the Memphis Grizzlies got up twenty more shot attempts than the Clippers because of offensive rebounds and because of turnovers. That turned around in the second half, where the Clippers ended up getting thirteen more shots up than them. They ended up with fourteen offensive rebounds. I think they only gave up two offensive rebounds of Memphis in the second half. They still couldn't take care
of the basketball. There were still some turnovers at inopportune times, and the Clippers looked like a team that was disconnected, unserious, as the kids say, going through the motions, sleepwalking, just assuming they can figure it out. Their credit, they did, and sometimes that's what great teams have to do. You're not always gonna have your best. Sometimes you have energy, but the effectiveness that the execution isn't there. Other times you're doing the right
things, you're getting to the basket. It's good process, like last night against OKC, and you miss layups. So how do you find a way to overcome a poor shooting night, a night where you can't take care of the basketball. You just put it all together. In the last five minutes, where the Clippers are fourteen and three in their last seventeen games that have gone to clutch time, a game within the last five minutes, within five
points, they played their best when their best was required. A Paul George big three at the seven minute mark to give them a one point lead, big shot for him, but the Kawhi Leonard Steele after he missed a shot, leading to a dunk the very next possession, a James Harden Steele leading to the put back dunk for terrince Man, and then a James Harden three pointer to put the game away. Just huge shots, huge plays, because
Memphis was not going away and you can't underestimate anyone. And I said it pre game, I set it on clips and Dip a couple of days ago. You want to be a top three seed. Beating Memphis is a must win type of game, not technically, but basically is you can't afford to lose to any team, especially one that's sixteen games under five hundred right now. They have too many tough opponents coming up. Kings and Lakers are next Pact valries. They got Minnesota twice in the next couple of weeks, the
Bucks twice in the next couple of weeks. They have a much tougher schedule than the three teams around them in the standings. When you're talking about the top four in the West, Clippers in the three spot, Denver behind them, OKAC, Minnesota in front of them. Minnesota has a two to zero regular season lead on the Clippers. They gotta win the next two just to get to the tiebreaker. Okay, see has it against them. Head to head, The Denver Nuggets lead the season series two to one, one game
remaining. So yeah, tonight was crucial, and the Clippers came through late. They looked like a team that was gonna be able to figure this thing out. And remember who they are. James Harden and Paul George had off nights again, and that's why I say Terrence Man saved this ballgame for the
Clippers. They needed somebody, desperately, somebody else to help. Kawhi Leonard pulling his weight ten of seventeen twenty four points, clutch buckets, clutch defense did have six turnovers, but eight boards, three steals, a block, two huge throwdowns, one on triple j momentum, energy lifters for this team as he lifted off at Duncan traffic and I was say, third quarter, nasty Kawhi is feeling good. Who's coming with him? Who's coming with me?
Jerey McGuire, somebody else needs to get on board and follow the leader. Terrence Man did. In fact, he helped lead with the start that he got off to, and the Clippers looked for him. He has needed a breakout game offensively. Love everything else he does, but it's no coincidence that he led them in the plus minus category a plus fourteen. And I love the fact that coach lou stuck with him late, rewarded him for playing
very well when he hasn't played late during crunch time recently. That's outside the Boston game. His best game of the season, his highest scoring game of the season, twenty three points, four of eight from distance, over fifty percent from three in the new year? Who told you was gonna come around? Oh? This guy right here, he was miserable to start off the season from distance. It's turning around. How many people try to tell me
Oh, the volume isn't there. Sure the number says a thirty eight percent career three point shooter, but it's on low volume. I mean it's like five hundred, six hundred shots over his career. I wouldn't call that low volume. When you compile the seasons together. Terrence Man was four of eight from distance. Just a clutch ballgame from him. In the Clippers time of need. You may think, oh, they shouldn't have needed that much. They're playing Memphis. Hey, Memphis has beat the Bucks. They beat the
Rockets. That's a solid win. They were coming off. There's their best victory of the season, beating Milwaukee right before the All Star break, and they have a bunch of guys who were trying to show off for their head coach to say, hey, I deserve minutes even when we do get healthy, when John Moran's back, when Desmond May's back. That Terrence Man three to tie the game at the four to fifty six mark an underrated big shot.
Because the Clippers are having trouble getting stops. Luke Kennard was out there. I was worried he was going to catch a heater at some point. It wouldn't even matter if the Clippers effort was much better. Sometimes a guy gets hot and there's nothing you can do, and it would have been on them because they made the game far too close, much more difficult than it need to be. But now you look at it, can they learn something from this? Did they find something? Was something born out of this victory
for the Clippers? I know I've overused it. It's not even mine. It was Nicholas Batoombs. I'm hoping they reidentify their identity, so to speak, they relocate it, and they get back to executing and not just relying on talent, which has been an issue Clippers last Well, you know what, I'm going back even further now since December one, coming into this game, they've been eighteenth defensively. Is that shocking should be? That's not championship
stuff. We know they're better than that. On the season, I think they're still twelve. But over almost a three month stretch, your eighteenth defensively, they got to pick it up. They held Memphis in ninety five. That's something their own offense. They were their own worst enemy, turning it over countless times twenty to be exact. That's what kept Memphis in this They only shot forty one percent. They shot eight of thirty five from the outside
after two games where they combined to shoot forty six percent from three. That's how they got those victories against the Rockets, against the Milwaukee Bucks, Clippers just kept giving them more opportunities. Eventually a team will beat you. Well, we have a moment. Let's pause ten seconds for station identification. Here on a five to seven LA Sports, this is LA Clippers Basketball AM five to seventy KLAC Los Angeles, ninety eight seven KYSR HD two Los Angeles and
iHeartRadio station. I guess it tells you that the Clippers have so much talent that even on off nights from James Harden and Paul George a few other guys, they can still beat you with their f minus game. It was brutal. Yes, it's a win over Memphis, but my goodness, they need the victories no matter how you get them. Right now, I'll take a bad process victory over a good process loss. Right now, with just twenty seven games remaining from this Clippers team, all right, we'll take a quick
time out. We'll come back. We'll get to your phone calls. We will have will Updiker. Chuck macleron from Clips and Dip. Clippers coming back to Cali taking on the Kings Sunday night. Hopefully they bring some of that last five minutes of the fourth quarter energy with them for forty eight minutes. We haven't seen a complete game from them in some time. More Clipper stock here on seventy sports. Clippers basketball is odd. The two one three era
continues. You're listening to the La Clippers on the La Clippers Audio Network. The Clippers were down bad, but they finish up. They win one on one to ninety five over the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis. They improved to thirty seven and eighteen on the season. Here's a number for you. The Clippers have won thirty four of their last four. Let me see that one more time. Spit it out Ozland, thirty four of their last forty five games.
Just looking at it, maybe tongue tied. Welcome back in the clipperstock. I'm Adam Oslin' to eight six six nine, eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's get to Javier and the hiber Heights. He called in early as usual, Javier, what's up and what's up, Adam, Thank you for taking my call. I was just looking at the last six games the league. Was against the Pelicans at home, I mean,
end the road when they lost thirgus of seven. So the game they lost, and then they beat the Pistons the next the next, the next game, and then they lost to the Wolves, and then they broally came back on the Warriors, and then they lost yesterday to the Thunder and then today. So it's just been like that with the electic games, and they haven't been sharp at all. Like you said, it's been like that since the Grammy road trip when they went six and one. It just seems like there's
been a letdown since then. Yeah, I mean it just maybe maybe they're tired. But you know what, these last two games, they had an All Star break, so I thought it was gonna come fresh. But I guess I guess, I guess not. You know, they you know, but like you said earlier, they won this game. They had to win this. They didn't have to win this game, but it was like you said, they want to number A one, two or three seeds, they had to win this game, so, you know, and the earlier also
you mentioned about Terrence Man. Yeah, they don't win this game without him. I mean he scored how many points? Twenty five points? I mean what twenty three? Yeah, and I'm almost in here, Adam. The last couple of things you mentioned this too, Paul George and kawis they gotta cut off on their turnovers. I mean I think Paul George had five and Kawhi had six, and then against James Harready had four. I mean that's plus fifteen turnovers on three players. So you gotta cut that down. And
that's it, Adam, thank you for taking my call. We'll touch you soon, all right, Ivire sounds good. I agree. Now Kawhi is the outlier there. He rarely turns the Paul Hill for six times. It's probably only happened a handful of times, maybe in his entire career. Paul George had been better recently, but five turnovers, We've come to expect that once in a while, a stinker game like that. But he has been down for some time, just hasn't looked good. Now. He was four
to seven from the outside, that's big. Four of his five makes were from three four ten points on his twelve shots, and a huge three off a nice screen from Vitza Zubots that I think he needed to see fall. Same with James Harden. His only make that three pointer under a minute left, the step back. To have the confidence to take that shot when you're zero for seven, you gotta have a memory like defensive back. Just clear
to mechanism. Not worry about the last play whatsoever. But it assists of four turnovers, better than the last game two assists of just three turnovers. Obviously he can play much better. Not only did Terrence Man have twenty three points, he led them in the rebounding category. He had twelve. He had five offensive rebounds. Telling you he saved the Clippers tonight, Mitch and it jizzy. Mitch was up here on Clippers South with that Amusen. Hey,
yeah, how you doing think? I guess it? Listen my soul. No, no, no, we were having issues on our end, Mitch. But what's up? What did you think of the game? Oh? Why do you have to start so slow? It really ticks me off. It's like two nights and two nights in a row. They've they've had some bad games. Really, it's a tough conference. I mean meaginement Memphis had where their players, and I like that that. I don't want to
imagine Memphis being healthy because the Clipper would have lost. That's the truth. Well, well, I'm glad to see that Kawhi Lance still has his m v P had on. He's still in the running. He should be in the top three in the boat. He's playing quite well still. He picked it up for us as nice to see Tucker get in there, get some time. He's tough, you do some I don't want that gonna let diets play piece play. I'm sure how to say his name, but Daniel get
nice thing? Is that right? But but you know, let's just send it because sometimes has some wolf games. And I also like plumb me two. Thanks said to see Tucker's as good playing all right, I appreciate the phone call, Mitch. I agree with you. I'm a big PJ. Tucker fan. Just depends on how much he has left. He's the second oldest player in the NBA, and he didn't attempt a shot in fourteen minutes, didn't attempt at corner three. If he doesn't take that shot, they're
not gonna respect him out there. They're gonna sag off of him. And you're gonna be playing four on five on offense. There was a I thought curious lineup, but I give coach lu credit experimenting against Memphis. You got
to figure out what you got moving forward with seventeen games in March. But having him, Russell Westbrook, and me some plumbly all on the floor at once, three really non shooters next to I think it was Kawhi and Paul George or Kawhi and James Harden. That was interesting, to say the least. I didn't expect that lineup tonight. I gotta be honest with you. Shoutout Carlo him is he called it? PJ. Tucker playing in this one. Morris in Long Beach, Morris, what's up? You're on Clippers South
without Austen. You know what you guys are talking about, being in the top of these seeds and all this. Look at the Clippers got to come out the top seed in the West. They can do this. Nobody gets to pass in the nationale Basketball Association. You're gonna have those Nights man, where you look like, oh, my goodness, and then you're gonna have the mother and Nights were like, my god. You're one of the best
teams in the history of the NBA. They're gonna be. Okay. I like the position that they're in with so many game twenty one our games left. But Adam, they got to get the top seed because I'm gonna tell you something, when you get to the playoffs, it's another season and it ain't like like what we see and it's a half court thing. It's more intense, and you know, it's just a different world. And we need to top seed because all these teams are tough. Denver's tough, Oklahoma's tough,
the Clippers stuff. So whoever got the higher seed in the playoffs has got a major, in my opinion, advantage. So the Clippers, I saw this in a dream man. They were the top seed in the West. We can't lose that. Forget being one of the top seeds. Be the number one seed. And that's the only talk I want to hear right now, if you can work with it. By the Adam, the top seed, Okay, gave is up all right, Morris Sunning a dream man. I thought I was watching up in Smoke there for a second hearing some
of that. Mores in Long Beach is right. It'd be great to see them get the top seed for the first time in franchise history. But it's going to be extremely difficult. They are at a disadvantage now. They're two and six against the three teams surrounding them. That's the problem. They haven't been good enough in those games. They just lost. Okay, see they
just lost to Minnesota. They got one more Denver, they got two more with Minnesota, and one of those games against Minnesota is either on the front end or the back end of a back to back where it's Minnesota and Milwaukee. That's about as tough of a back to back as you can have in this league. Clippers not getting a favors we understand that into a dome can't come soon enough. They get the short end of the stick when it comes to the schedule add into a dome. This is how tough the West is
right now. The Phoenix Songs are thirty three and twenty four. I mean, it's very respectable. They're in eighth. They're in the eighth spot now. They're just well a fraction of a winning percentage away from being seventh. They're half game back of being sixth, they're a full game back of being fifth. But the Clippers are just a half game up on the Denver Nuggets. They're in the three spot, Denvers in the four, with the game remaining again between them, it will be at Crypto. That was a game
that was added to the schedule after the nd season tournament. I'm not sure if it's a blessing or a curse. Yet on one end, they get a shot to tie the season series against Denver, and then I think it goes to division record, which is interesting, not conference first division. I think they have to make these divisions count for some reason, make it worthwhile. I don't love it. But they get one more shot at Denver and they win that, then it goes to division record. That's gonna be a
huge game. They all are. That's why it was so important for them to take down a Memphis Grizzlies team that's twenty and thirty seven, that is out of the playoff and even play in picture. Really just an unfortunate season for them. Injury riddle like you wouldn't believe, or maybe you would. You're a Clippers fan. If you're listening, most likely eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy is the
phone number. We'll take a time out, we'll come back. We're looking for postgame audio. How about Team Mahn twenty three and twelve and five of those twelve boards were offensive rebounds. No shot without him tonight he only had one of their twenty turnovers. Tip your cap to Terrence Man showing up in a big way. He got the Clippers. This victory dragged them across the finish line, along with Kawhi PG and Harden showing up late with big shots.
Clippers come through one on one to ninety five. They win in Memphis. Late more Clippers stock next journey in five to seventy. LA Sports. Okay, get it out of my mind. LA Clippers basketball is on the two one three era continues. You're listening to the LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio network. Last time that I checked. A win's a win maybe kind of sort of. Well, you'd rather get the victory and figure out the rest later, right, Clipper Nation, welcome back in This is Clippers
talk. I'm out a Mosland. After they figure it out and overcome being down, I want to say it was eight or nine points in that second half. They win one oh one to ninety five over the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis. Coming up, we'll get back to your phone calls at eight six six ninety seven two five seventy. But first join the show is Will Updyke of Clips and dip Fame. Will How do you view it? Is a
win? A win? Or is this alarming at all to you? That the Clippers had to just scratch and claw their way to a victory down the stretch against the Memphis Grizzlies. It's definitely not a large I mean, I certainly wouldn't go that far. It's not you know, it's it's it's also not a feather in your cap win wise. Look, I it's the second night of a back to back, it's an older team, and yeah,
they had to grit and claw this one out. While Jaron Jackson had an overall pretty good game against them for a very like beat up Memphis squad like this game was just if you enjoy aesthetically the game of basketball, This was probably not your favorite game to watch. It certainly wasn't mine. But you know, it does say a lot that they were able to get to win. They were kind of able to switch the tides and turn things around.
And that's what you have to do at the end of the day, right, It's about holding down that pre seed and and and just taking care of the teams in front of you. The process in this one was, you know, it was awful. I don't even know what to say. I mean, Kawhi had six turnovers. You know, it's it's it's difficult to in a game now that it's like it's when it's the same to me as when shooters are insane slumps, it's like, well, that's got to go
back to the law of averages. I can't be too upset about an ugly game. That's the second game on a back to back after the All Star break. And I think that's something that's weird about this team is they're older. Every time I feel like they get a long break, like we're like, uh, Clippers, have you know three four days of rest on the schedule, they look worse. Am I wrong? No, They're not wrong
at all. They haven't looked right since the Grammy road trip. I don't know if they're still feeling it. If they rode the highs a little bit too high there, I'm not sure. I think they just need to get back in a tempo, because I do still think there's the situation going on where because of the relative age and recovery of everybody, they're not having a lot of practices in this all time and obviously an All star not at all, no one is. But I just think that they I think that what
we're seeing the last two games is actually pretty understandable. And I definitely had been on the side of, like, you know, this is time to tighten things up, and wanted them certainly to look a lot better coming out of this long of a break. But I think it also makes sense why everything looks so discombobulated and maybe even though you know we've had a couple of bad losses against higher seeds, it's not the time to panic, like these are just old guys that need to warm back up. Is that is that
crazy? No, I mean it's not crazy. I hope you're right. I would have thought by now if be warm and ready to go. But Paul George and James Harden have looked miserable the last two games outside of a couple of big shots tonight, and you'll take that. You know what's there, They showed it late. James Harden was zero for seven and knocks down that three pointer to get them the victory. But those two have to be
much better. And that's why I said Terrence Man saved this game for the Clippers because Kawhi Lener needed help and he was the guy to supply it. Absolutely no season high for Terrence, I mean he was I said, not a lot of positives take away from this one now is a huge positive. How active he was, double digit boards, led the team in boards.
I mean, just an incredible Terrance performs. But again, I do want to say, like you know, one of the younger, younger in air quotes, he's not that young guys on the squad is a little ready to go on the second night of back to back. That's what you hope, right, That's what if you truly want to be in that contender status, you need those guys who can do that. And it's nice to know that
the Clippers. You know, while we might not get on a consistent basis, we do have those that young talent that can step up even when nothing can seem to go right for the Clippers. And you know, the word wonky is overused in sports, but this was a wonky game, and I think it was because of a few different reasons. One man got into foul trouble when he was their hottest player early on the first quarter, he has to go out, Zoo gets in a foul trouble. There's a tough whistle
where the Clippers benefited at times they got to the free throw line. It even out a little bit later on, but they were getting there more often in the first half. The problem was I felt like it was almost taking them out of a rhythm. I think at one point they went there four straight times. Mason Plumley was living there. Then James Harden got there and they never really got their offense in gear. But then you also have two players in a funk in PG and James Harden, and that leads to a
game that looks as sloppy as it does. Maybe I don't know, But then there's one last thing to throw into the mix for the wonkiness, experimenting with lineups in the first half and a bunch of guys playing next to one another that maybe haven't or haven't in a long time. Considering PJ. Tucker got minutes tonight for the first time since November twenty seventh, What did you think of those Bucker minutes? Where did you think of the lineups overall?
Because it looked to me like coach lou is searching for something that he can use in March when he knows he's gonna have to dig deep into his bench. Yeah, I mean, so the one thing he didn't mention also was no Norm and that is huge for this team. That is huge for this team. I thought one of the brightest takeaways even though that in that loss. And okay, see was the good small ball lineup When I'm calling the good small ball lineup with the starters, but with Norm the Powell Rangers,
if you will, looked incredible. That'd be said, Yeah, I mean, rotation wise, it makes sense. And I agree with you both. I agree that he is searching for something. I think it's it's also just a thing that he's he's got to figure out. It's a very strange problem. I'm still not sure like if you're going to PJ Tucker up at that, like why Tys isn't in there? Like Plumbley has had a cultule of
stinkers lately, so it makes sense to give to try. And I also do think that PJ over Tysons is probably the better locker room move he's been. You know, from what we hear, not of malcontent on on court or around the team, but certainly very vocal with the media. And I do think we've discussed this. Look, I mean, unless we're adding somebody on the buyout, and unless we're I don't like we materialize a wing out
of somewhere. It's likely that PJ. Tucker is gonna have to play some playoff minutes, and I just don't know how you can expect that to be a possibility, I mean a possibility. I feel like it's putting it lightly an inevitability and not have him play some minutes in the regular season. So it was bound to be clunky and that look great, But I think the rebounds were helpful. And my thing with PJ Tucker is like offense is gonna his offense is gonna clog things up, There's no two ways about it.
Hopefully, if he can just get confident enough to it least take shots to at least make a defense think about it, and then he has to be great. He has to be great on the boards. There's no excuse like that. If he if he wants a way into playing time. If he wants to be an integral part of you know what could be a championship contending team, he's gonna have to do the dirty work. Oh yeah, I
think he's here for that. But your point is appropriate regarding him having to be a threat from the outside at some point, especially if he's going to be in lineups next to Russell Westbrook and Mason Plumbley, which I was scratching my head. I was scratching. I was scratching down to the gray matter on that one. But it didn't kill them. It just felt like they couldn't find any rhythm with any lineup, even the starters. When they came
back in, they had nothing out there. They looked like they hadn't played together. The team just looked disconnected, really defensively. Going back to the second half last night with all those back cuts and easy dunks by the OKC Thunder, that's certainly carried over into this game. But it's been a theme now. If you look back till December first, the Clippers were eighteenth defensively heading into this game. We're talking almost three months now, so I mentioned
alarming earlier. Will you kind of pushed that aside. But what about this? What about this? The defense eighteenth over a three month stretch, how do you remedy that? Yeah, that's a tough that is a tough pill to swallow. That is lower than I thought, And especially when the offense, oh my gosh, especially with how bad the offense has looked. So I think that you're hoping, I hate to say, I think that you're hoping that they're going to be able to get into that different gear in in
the playoffs. But also, you know Zoo. I feel like Zoo has only looked like Zoo that we knew uh before he went down, uh for like probably the first half of that Oklahoma City game, and that was certainly a back and forth game. That was that that was a game that looks different, not defensive swards, but they were they you know, it's Oklahoma City. They have a great offense. There's only so much you can do. So I think, fully, fully healthy Zoo is gonna make a huge
difference. And then I do think there is gonna have to be there is like something is just gonna have to happen, uh with those rotations and like while the game got away from them, in Oklahoma. I part of it was they had, you know, they went on that stretch where they were like one of nine, like they they could not they could not get a bucket. So I agree. I think this defense though, is a little bit built more for playoffs offenses, if that makes sense, when things kind
of slow down, when things grind a little bit. I see this as being a much better team there. You know, we talked about like what OAKLAO or sorry, Paul George was asked like sort of what the Thunder did defensively to throw them off their game, and they just talked about how physical they can be. And yeah, I just think it's tough for a team, for a bunch of guys in their thirties to try and get on that
level. I certainly think though that well, I don't want to say flip the switch, because you know, we've heard from Kawhi, who is the by example leader on the team, that they have to be getting better every night, So I don't I wouldn't call it a flip the switch. I would say it just needs a little bit more time and a fully healthy zoo. And I do think, I do think that they can figure it out. I don't know. I mean, no, I agree like Tanner twelve.
I like, I think they could be Tanner twelve in the league. They are on the season, They're right around there, and maybe you know, I haven't looked at their half court defense over that stretch. To your point, they may still be top five in half court defense, which means it's all about transition defense. It's letting them down being eighteenth since December first. Yeah, I mean those thirty points, that's a lie for this team that's been a through line for the two and three era, and just you
know, it doesn't rear. It's ugly had as much in the playoffs. That's just not how games work. Yeah, No, that's fair. Last one for you here will because this was blowing up last night. I thought it was much ado about nothing when you read the quote in context. But how did you feel about Kawhi talking about, you know, being one through six and the goal is to stay out of the play in and a lot of people said, what the goals stay out of the play and we got
higher aspirations than that. To me, it sounded like he was talking about, you know, basically, if we handle our business and continue to improve we'll end up where we end up. But it's all about out focusing it on just getting better each and every day. How did you see it? I agree one hundred percent. Look, man, this is not a team that I like. I don't want these guys worried about about seeding, like in some way that should be company. Yes, we know historically you gotta
be a top four team. I think the Clipper's best route for this still won't be easy, is if they can be a top three team. But like I think the a that's just very on brand for who Kawhi is as a person, Like he's he's focused internally, like they're focused on development. They know they have a long ways to go, but there's still so much potential there. So I don't put a whole lot of stock into it.
I like the context of the second part of the quote, like they have to focus on getting better every night, and you know, if it takes a couple of claw out victories, if heck, even if it takes a couple of more games where maybe they get blown out by better competition, as long as they can get there, as long as internally they can figure that out, then it's fine. I do ultimately think they'll figure it out, even if they go as far as the four or five matchup in the first
round. Like, I think, as long as they can get things together, they can, they can get their heads right and get the optimal version of whatever this this, whatever you want to call this era of two on three together. I still feel very confident. You know. Yeah, well that's well put. I like it. I'll take it. You know what else I like? I just ran the numbers while you were laying that out. The Clippers are forty five and fifteen in the last sixty games that Terrence
Man has started, going back to last season. Seems good. I love it. I love it. Well, thanks for doing this tonight. I'm assuming maybe we got a YouTube live coming up tomorrow with Cheff Monckler as well. Maybe maybe come on, let's do it. Sounds good to me. All right, my friends, thank you, absolutely, thank you so much. Let's go clips coming up next. Back to your phone calls eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five.
The Clippers somehow, some way they get a victory. What else matters? Survive in advance? Like I said earlier, they went by six in Memphis after they were down six of the half, and yeah, I was calling them out on X that effort was poor, but the talent overcame the mistakes. Eventually, the execution is going to have to be the thing they focus in on over everything else, because there's a lot more talented teams out
there than this beat up Memphis Grizzlies team, including the Sacramento Kings. So the Clippers will see Sunday Night More Clippers sock coming up next year on the Empire seven ELI Sports. They want to bring a banner with them to the Into It Dawn More LA Clippers basketball on the LA Clippers Audio Network. I don't think there's an Escape from Memphis movie with Kurt Russell. I gotta check out that Godzilla when he's got going on that mini series. But the Clippers
escaped. They grinded out of victory in the old Grindhouse and FedEx Forum in Memphis. They win one oh one to ninety five thanks to showing up clutch during clutch time. Keith in La, you're on Clipper Stock with auDA Maslin. Hi, Keith, what's up my man? How are we doing? Wow? You and you and Will I think the previous caller's name. You guys pretty much just said it all. Man, I just want to say, we'll throw a couple of logs on the fire man. You know.
I think you're right up. You guys said it all. Honestly, I'm not gonna keep you too long, Bro, Always good to talk to you. But let me say the Clippers tonight. First of all, you know we will definitely take the w that's a given. But these guys tonight's refereeing, Adam was interesting. I'm a keep a positive brother. I'm just going to call it interesting. Remember that play where Kawi clearly kind of got hit
in the face. You know what I'm saying, clearly, I mean that plus a couple of other things and a couple of calls on and I just thought I was just I think I think my point has been made there. You know, they face some kind of weird refereeing. You're not lying, sure, you're not lying, Bro? What's the old thing? What are you going to believe me or your lying eyes? You know? But you know anyway, But I'm just saying, you know, but you know, you guys are right. You and Will are right. Also. Zubac and
Plumbly Entice. For me, I don't know if these are the official Clippers, but for me, those are my Clipper bigs. These are the guys we need. We need rebound guys, you know I'm talking about. I mean, I think also, again to touch on what you and Will said, I think we're coming off like the the the All Star break kind of you know, the Grammy Break thing, that whole thing and all that. And you know, so I've seen the Clippers do this before. That's kind
of normal behavior for them. But again I'm I'm actually yeinning and yanning because it's like, you know, we we this is what we get knocked out in those first and second rounds, you know what I'm saying. However, and I can almost kind of hang my hat on this, Adam. It's almost a question. We have been hanging around this three spot for a while, bro, and I cannot remember that. I cannot remember the Clippers hanging
around the three spot for so long, and I'm talking about it. I'm talking about back in the Blake Griffin years and you know, that whole thing. So that that fascinates me. It gives me hope. But I'll kind of digress but I was saying everything you and Will said is you know, the Clippers getting a championship. It is a possibility. It's not a clear you know, it's a possibility. I think again to even touch on the coaching and all that, TYLERU did what he did with PJ and all that.
He's got to figure it out, tylu I got to give him props. This guy has got chess pieces to work with. You know what I'm saying. I think there's a reason why PG was just a little cold. He's still kind of finding his way. You know, there's I saw a though everything you and Will say I'm telling you was this on points. I saw a lot of individual elizabetht times Harden. Okay, they're gonna be a point guard Harden. You know a lot of these kind of like like really
long halfway lobby passes. Again, that was kind of like part of the thing. But you know, guys were just you know, shooting ourselves in the foot, like regarding the mess I'll di griftin kind of land my thing. You know. Yep, that plane ain't landing not till we talk again on Sunday night. All right, we'll do it again. I got I gotta get out, love brother, Thank you Keith. Clippers win one on one to ninety five over the Memphis Grizzlies. They bounce back after losing yesterday.
And Okac, before we get out of here quickly, Katie Newton, our producer, you got a question for me and Katie Newton's casual corner. I do It's real easy. So we play each team at least twice? But do we play in the Western Conference them three or four times? Depends on the team. You play everyone in your division four times, some of the others you could play three or four times. How about that? Thank
you, Thank you Katie. Before we get out of here, I do want to thank the Clippers organized Ralph Lawler, Brian Seman, Noah Ego, Carlo Jimenez on the call, Big Brother, Jake Warner see on Sunday, the callers, the listeners emphasis on the callers tonight. Thanks to Matt our engineer for getting the phones working. Oh you know what, Big thanks to Katie Newton. She had to figure that one out. I thought it was gonna be mission impossible in here with all the technology, but no, she
made it work. Thank you again, Katie. Until Sunday, with the pregame show starting at five thirty Clippers and Kings. I metem Oslin and we'll talk to you then. So why he was doing his thing? All they want to do is win in La. I win. I thought they gave everything they had. I'm very proud of. This has been Clippers Talk, the official postgame reaction of the LA Clippers. God Bless Paul George. Are you not? It's just changed. Don't miss an episode all season law.
