The game is over. Paul George money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just begun. Kawhi Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers locker Room, a recap of today's game and a look ahead, your hope for LA Clippers basketball. And now your host, You, sir, are a bad man, Adam Ousley. Clippers make it ten straight over the Lakers. They win one thirty three to one fifteen. Welcome into your postgame show. Coming up, we'll get the second half highlights. Looking
for postgame audio from the head coach and the players. But first back out to your voice of the Clippers in Noah Eagle. Now, a great start in that first quarter from the Clippers, hot shooting, scored thirty seven in the first twelve minutes, a lot of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, but specifically Kawai the first two buckets of the game. You could just tell he was locked in for the Clippers. Yeah, he came out with that urgency
and the Clippers came out with that urgency to go up nine. Nothing to start a game without missing a shot, that tells you something. It tells you that you're locked in. It tells you that you're ready to go and prove a point. And I think that's what the Clippers did tonight. They proved a point once again about really who goes in there, who can dominate this series. That's ten straight wins. That is, let me get that. What did I say, thirty five and seven? I believe it is
that correct, Adam. Over the last forty two games, yeah, thirty five and seven since twenty twelve, twenty thirteen against the Lakers, thirty five and seven. And I know that Dennis was just saying, and he's probably right. The most impressive stat to come from that ten game winning streak is the fact that the Clippers have only trailed by six, the largest Laker lead and the last ten meetings six. It's crazy, Adam, and the Lakers
did push things in that fourth quarter. It was a ten point game at one thirteen, one oh three, and I thought what proceeded after that was one of the best stretches of this Clippers season with them closing things out. Yep, one hundred percent. First, you get Paul George with the tip away on the inbound knocks it into the front court, scoops it kind of guides it to Kauai, who gets fouled, lays it in. It's a
three point play and you get a stop come back. Reggie Jackson tees off on a deep three knocks that through six straight points and then you come right back the other way. Kawai on the steel takes a coast to coast outraces everybody to the ram two handed stuff. You know. I was talking to some people before this game, and they said, if the Lakers want to win this game, Lebron is gonna have to have a herculean effort. They said, he's gonna have to put up close to fifty. We did hit
forty six points in this game, eight rebounds and seven assists. He was nine to fourteen from three. That's a career high, and made threes in a game for Lebron James. Many people believe he's the greatest player who has ever played the game of basketball. He's going to be the old time leading scorer. He's never made nine threes in a game. And yet it never got closer to ten. It never got closer than ten after that early spurt
in the second quarter. Ten was the closest they got and Lebron had an unbelievable performance, one of the best performances I've seen from him in person, which is saying something and the Clippers hot shooting in the first half fifteen to twenty two twenty three. I'm seeing two different box scores still on that. But the point is they hit fifteen three pointers in the first half, and they were cold in the second, only made four threes, but it didn't
matter. They found other ways to be successful. Well. The other thing is they built up that lead. You build up enough of cushion, That's what I was trying to say early in the game, when they went up nine nothing, you have to then take full advantage. So fifteen of twenty three is what I see from the first half. They finished the game nineteen of thirty eight means. That means that they went four of fifteen in the
second half. But they had built up so much real estate and so much leash for themselves that they didn't have to go out there and shoot the lights out again. They could play their game, they could get to the rim, they could play good defense and let everything else kind of take care of itself, which it did. They end up winning the fourth quarter of thirty five to thirty three. There was really nothing that the Lakers could do to
stop the Clippers tonight. The third quarter they only scored twenty one. Some of those were just missed threes, they were wide open and a lot of those. But thirty seven points, forty points in the second, thirty five points in the fourth. You take away just the third quarter, and that's what the Clippers. It's still above I think what the Clippers had been scoring for most of the season. Let me do the quick math in my head. That's one twelve. Yeah, Clippers average one on nine point seven.
That's three other quarters. Today they got them to one twelve and then push them over the top to get to one thirty three. I mean, this is gonna be a big bump in their offensive efficiency. Defensively, I thought, even though they give up one fifteen, they played a really good game. And the only area of concern. Two areas of concern to me in this game. One turnovers. We've talked about it all season. A couple of careless ones. That's what allowed the Lakers to get this to win in
ten. The second one offensive rebounding, and the Clippers did a much better job of it in the second half. But in the first half, when and Gabriel dominated the offensive, Glass led to sixteen second chance points overall. Tonight for the Lakers, too many. You've got to do a better job there. But other than that, a near flawless performance from the Clippers. Clippers make it ten in a row over the Lakers. They've won three straight.
Now they're back to two games above five hundred at twenty six and twenty four. They're staying at home. Their next contest coming up on Thursday, back against the Spurs, seven thirty tip time. We'll have your Clippers countdown show starting at six thirty. No, they can't keep me out Thursday night. I'll be there with you, my friend. Great call. We'll see at Thursday night. three to one fifteen over the Lakers. And you're listening to the Los Angeles Clippers right stomach on flat flading over what's that I need to win? Dixie Clippers beat up on the Lakers once again. We'll have Clippers talk for you. Eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. But first let's get to some second half highlights. Clippers were up by twenty three at the half thanks to hitting fifteen three pointers. They were fifteen of twenty three from the outside through the first twenty four minutes. Kawhi Leonard ended up with I want to say he had fifteen points in the first half.
Kept it going in the third quarter. James fallon extended four side, Jimmy Shake drives light to the ramp. Oh pluck by Leonard. The clock gets the King just past goes the Leonard left wing with five on the shop cluck Leonard alma screen to his left drive so and that pulls up from fifteen. Kawhi Leonard ice it is veins money in the mid range ninety to seventy four
Clippers. Leonard will go to work driving mid'll pull up from the Ditton line and puts it in again, Kawhi with eighteen and the Clippers up sixteen ninety two seventy six with three forty two play the third. Kawhi was six more points there in the third quarter in that big block on Lebron James, but they would lose the third quarter by seven points. It was ninety eight to eighty two heading into the fourth. It was a ten point game midway through
the quarter at one thirteen to one oh three. But then the Clippers would close things out with this run. Oh the past knocked away by George. Can he get to it? Shrewder goes to the deck, George is there to tie him up and then throw it away. Leonard is fouled, lays it in, counting in the foul. Leonard on the takeaway, George on the deflection, and Kauai with a chance for three. George driving was right,
hooks it left wing. Jackson tries the three nuts it down, Reggie checks in pure one nineteen o one OHO three Clippers five fifteen to play, Westbrook driving middle strip by letter to the steel up ahead. Here comes Kawhi one on one with Shrewder slims with two. The swiping score from Leonard Kawai finishes with twenty five. Clippers would finish shof the Lakers with a one thirty three to one fifteen victory. Clippers and proved to two games above five hundred.
Now they've won three in a row. They're coming back or staying at home technically a road game for them in this one. Lakers with the home team, but they're staying in downtown Los angelesn't taking on the Spurs Thursday night. More on that. I'm at am Oslin Clippers and proved to twenty six and twenty four on the season, as Lebron has forty six a career high nine made threes and it doesn't matter.
The Clippers still win this one by eighteen. They were led by Paul George. He had twenty seven on just twenty shots. Twelve of those twenty seven came in the first quarter. Kawhi finished with twenty five points, had seven of those in the fourth. Some big plays down the stretch, as you would expect, say from Norm Powell. He had twenty two points off the bench on eight of twelve shooting. Clippers win one thirty three to one fifteen
over the Lakers. Their next game coming up Thursday night. They've taken on a struggling Spurs team, but they'd like to get out and run just like the Lakers. I mean it's ten straight against the Lakers. Thirty five of the last forty two matchups the Clippers have been victorious in and even with Lebron finally getting his forty point game against, the Clippers finished with forty six, Clippers win one thirty three to one fifteen over
the Los Angeles Lakers. Welcome into your post game show. This is Clipper
Stock. I'm out of Moslin. Coming up, we'll have William Updyke one from Clips and Dip looking for postgame audio from the head coach in the players, and we'll get to your phone calls at eight, six, six, nine, eight seven two five seventy eight six six ninety seven two five seventy or get to me at follow Adam a. The Clippers were the last team Lebron had yet to have a forty point game against, and you can just see it was hanging over his head, and that stat had been out there
the last couple of days as the build up to this game was underway, and Lebron got it forty six in fact, and went for a career high nine made three pointers in the Lakers went sixteen oh forty that's forty percent from the outside, and the Clippers still beat him by eighteen. Clippers led by twenty three in the first half. They hit fifteen of their first twenty three attempts from the outside. Just unconscious. But it was some of the defense
they were playing. I know they put up seventy seven points in that first half, that's great, but they held the Lakers to I believe fifty four and from the beginning, the Clippers just played with a different level of urgency. And I think it starts with Kawhi Leonard, who had their first four points, got an easy one near the basket, then hit one in the
mid range. I want to say, of his eleven makes, only three were within six feet of the rim, the rest all in the mid range, because he didn't hit a three pointer, shockingly, as the Clippers hit nineteen overall, so just four or fifteen in the second half after going fifteen or twenty three in the first half, and Kawhi doesn't get one of them, but an efficient twenty five on sixteen shots. And Paul George played like a superstar as well, eleven or twenty for twenty seven points. Had twelve
of those twenty seven in the first quarter. Was hid early, hit a couple of three pointers in that first quarter. Had a tough move in the I want to say it was early in the fourth quarter against Patrick Beverley, just a step back, baseline fade away. But I thought he made the play of the game when things were getting a little bit dicey, and after leading by twenty three, after being up big. Look the Lakers have fought
recently. They just came back down twenty five in Portland. The other night, they came back late and stole one from the Memphis Grizzlies, who had one eleven straight. And it was a ten point game at one thirteen to one. H three and Noah Eagle and I talked about it. The Clippers needed one more run to cross the finish line, and it was this sequence here where they went on an eight oh run. It started with a tip pass off an bounce pass from the Lakers, and it was Paul George hustling,
Oh the past knocked away by George. Can he get to it? Shrewder goes to the deck, George is there to tie him up and then threw it away. Leonard is fouled, lays it in, counting in the foul. Leonard on the takeaway, George on the deflection, and Kauai with a chance for three. George driving was right, hooks it left wing. Jackson tries the three nuts it down Riggie Chickson pure one nineteen O one oh three Clippers five fifteen to play Westbrook driving Min'll strip by letter to the steel
up ahead. Here comes Kawhi one on one with Shrewder slims with two. The swiping score from Leonard. The Clippers went from being up ten to up eighteen. There the Lakers cleared their bench and the Clippers would go on to win by eighteen. Final score one thirty three to one. Fifteen, but the poison under noise there where it looked like didn't just look like Lebron wasn't missing anything from the outside, a career high nine made three pointers. They
faced some adversity and they responded like that. They took the Lakers best punch and the two one three connection with Paul George tipping it away. A hustle play gets it to Kawhi Leonard the and one opportunity, then Reggie Jackson a big time three pointer, big government with the bailout, and then Kawhi a steal and a dunk on the other end as Shrewder couldn't get in his way, and all of a sudden, like that, the Clippers are up. What was it one nineteen, one h three, So make it one twenty
one, one h three. Excuse me? That was the score to getting back up by eighteen, and with five minutes left, Darvin Ham waved the white flag, brought in the backups had seen enough. Lakers had their chance, made their run, but the Clippers were able to respond. They was stood it. They was stood only making four three pointers in the second half. They didn't have to stay that hot. We knew it was gonna be
tough hitting fifteen threes. If they duplicated that in the second half, it would have been a Clippers record, it would have been a franchise record. I think that would have been an NBA record or close to thirty made three pointers. I want to say Milwaukee Bucks have it right now at twenty nine made in the game from a season or two ago. But that was a
nice victory. I know the Lakers are still struggling and their three games or four games under five hundred, but it's hard to win ten straight against a team. For the rivalry to be this lopsided in favor of the Clippers. Thirty five at last forty two games between these two won by the Clippers is extraordinary and there's work to be done. Clippers have bigger fish to fry. They have much higher expectations for themselves, and they've won three in a row
now and look better because Kauai's back. He's playing a healthy thirty five minute again, but he looks like he's elevating much more with the jump shot. It just looks easy again. It just looks effortless, and it looks like twenty one Kawhi Leonard before he toured the ACL and I want to say, in ten of his last eleven games, now he's gone for twenty or more.
He's been so efficient coming into this one. Last ten games twenty seven per game on fifty two percent shooting from the field, fifty percent from three, ninety four percent from the free throw line. And he had a block on Lebron in the second half. Plays like that energize your team. We thought he had one on Russ too, should have been. It looked clean, but he was called for a foul. Clippers had eight as a team. I Vitsa Zubots had one on Russ. I want to say Roco and
Nicholas Batoum did as well. So we talked about a pregame keys to the game, defend without fouling. Lakers still got up twenty four free throws, but they missed nine of them, and overall they didn't get into transition as much as they would have liked. Clippers made him play in the half court at times. Lakers were successful because Lebron was that hot from the outside.
But he may be the greatest player of all time. If you can live with that, if you take care of business with everybody else and for the most part they did. Russ was just four thirteen for his seventeen points. Our old friend Pat Bev one of eight, Dennis Shrewder three of nine, Briant who's been awesome. Thomas Bryan for them has been on a run and a big part of their success recently. He had fifteen seven. But I
thought for the most part of ETSA Zoobots held his own in there. And the Clippers once again got a great performance off the bench from Norman Powell, twenty two on twelve shots. This guy, as much as the Clippers were on fire from three in this game in the first half, Norman Powell is seventeen for his last twenty five from three going back four games now, including this one. At sixty eight percent from distance, you're going to talk about
a heater. And then he gets the rim DAWs contact only got to the free throw line once, but I had a tough one off the glass he
made. I always thought he was a great compliment, the right guy next to Kawai and Paul George, because then he and somebody with some quick downhill attack and scoring punch, and Norman Powell provides that and just makes it look so easy and Obviously, he's played next to Kawai before and won a championship with him in twenty nineteen with the Toronto Raptors, so some familiarity they're already, but a lot of good performances, I thought, Roco going two of
two from distance and being a force out there on the defensive end, getting he didn't get credited for a steel, but he knocked a few passes away. He even had a block late during inconsequential time. He just plays at that level always. Nicholas Batum had a three pointer, but the defense it's always there. He's switching one through five. And you're starting to see this
Clippers offense pull it together. Because I brought this up the other day, but over the last fifteen games, they've been the eleventh best offense, while on the season for the most part, they were bottom three coming into this one, all of a sudden, they were twenty fifth. But now it's sixteen games, seventeen games and playing much better on that end, and I'm expecting them when I go to those offensive ratings over the last month, month and a half, they might be a top ten offense. All of a
sudden, Wow, that you have Kawhi Leonard back. He's played I want to say, eighteen of their last twenty three games. What a difference it makes the last three games they've had him and Paul Jorge on the court. I want to see that continuing. Hopefully they're good to go Thursday night when they can build up that continuity. And as coach, we talked about it. With rotations and just guys playing the roles that were expected of them coming
into the season, they look like a completely different ball club. And considering the pace they played at at times and the hot shooting from the Lakers now giving up one fifteen when you score one thirty three, it's not necessarily that bad of a defensive game because there are more possessions had because of the fast pace out there. So of course teams are going to score more. That is why you look at the advanced numbers for offensive rating and defensive rating.
If a team plays at a slow pace, that might not mean they're a great defense. The other team could still be a fishing against them. They're just not getting as many shots shots up. So the Clippers win by eighteen over the Lakers, ten straight again, thirty five of the last forty two they've won against them. Let's get to Victor and Oh leaving the game. Victor, what's up? You're on Clippers stock with Adam Alston Victor Damian Okay, we'll go to Jose in Downey, Jose what's up? Start things off
tonight on Clipper Stock. Hey, how are you doing tonight? I felt like I had a call in because the only two times I've ever called in when they when they weren't doing well. So I gotta give them props. They really cleaned up the apology tour underway. I wouldn't say they've cleaned up on the defensive side. They've actually been twenty six there over the last fifteen games. They were better tonight. Yes, they were better against Dallas.
Yes, but they've been much worse on that and it's the offense that has started to turn around. I guess I met more in those in the last three games when they've won. I feel like they've been trying to rotate better, knowing where their spots is going to be when they're switching around. Well, remember the Spurs scored one hundred and twenty six points against That's so last
couple of games. Yes, we've seen signs of life. Defensively, we'll put it like that, say, right, right, yeah, defensively, Yeah, but I think that the shooting has really woken up in the last three games and that's made a big difference. Yeah, no doubt, especially from distance in this one. But it's because guys are playing off Kawai and Paul George. When those two are out there, everybody gets easier shots.
When you have someone like Kauai the mid range assassin, the three level score next to a three level score, and Paul George, guys that can do it all, it just makes things so much easier for everybody, right, And I think you just mentioned a couple of minutes ago that they've played the three games together, so that makes a big difference. They have to be on the floor. I mean, those are the guys you built your team around. That's what gives them a chance to win it all. If you
don't have them out there, they're not the same Clippers team. Obviously it goes without saying, but sometimes people evaluate him and it's like, well, how many of those games that Kawhi and Paul George playing, Uh, yeah, they're they're coming around. I want to say they're turning a corner here because the effort on both sides the last two games, or the performances on both sides the last two games have been very encouraging, and Kawhi looks like
Kauai. That's the most important thing we've seen really all season long. If they're gonna have a chance to get that Larry O. B As he would say, he has to look like the twenty twenty one version of Kawhi Leonard, who was the best player in the game before he went down with that ACL injury. Nobody played better or was playing better than him during that playoff run. Kawhi was absolutely dominant and Paul George looked great next to him.
And I love the effort from Paul George in this one because he gets off to the quick start aggressive. Did have four turnovers, some head scratching ones they're gonna be there, had four assists, but you know, he played to his level of at letticism at times, a few dunks that put back
Dunkey had where nobody boxed out for the Lakers. That was impressive. And then I mentioned that step back fade away over Pat Bev who he and Kawhi Leonard were just feasting on It seemed like they were intent on getting after Patrick Beverley, who had a rough one defensively and then just went one of eight. He's still one of my all time favorite Clippers, but right now he's playing for the enemy and Los Angeles Lakers. Clippers, though, make a
ten straight. They win one thirty three to one fifteen over the Lakers eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number more Clippers stack next here on Amp five seventy. ELI sports out all day. I'm a God, Get all squad a job, get am all pay. Clippers win one thirty three to one fifteen over the Lakers. Start off hot. It was a nine nothing lead.
They started four or four from the field, a sign of things to come, as they would hit fifteen of their first twenty three attempts from the outside. That's where they were at from three in the first half. They led
by twenty three, but it was a ten point game. With about six minutes left, Clippers put together one last run, an impressive one, one of the best sequences of Clippers basketball all season long, to put the Lakers away to win by eighteen to make it ten straight and thirty five, and the last forty two they've won thirty five and the last forty two against the Lakers. It's just a crazy number. I don't know if anybody's got that level of dominance in the league right now. And I had to have matchup.
While we have a moment, let's pause ten seconds for station identification here on AMPI seventy l A sports this this LA Clippers basketball A five seventy LAC Los Angeles kr HD to Los Angeles and iHeart radio station. It just doesn't compute. It's crazy, all right. Julio from Armani, California. Julio, you're on Clippers stuff without Amalas and what's up? By Yeah, I just leanted to say that the Clippers look really good tonight. He looked like
that team that everybody was talking about before the season started. You know, the threes were falling, defensive one point and as you mentioned, Kawhi Leonard looked like himself. If we keep well, the most important things we gotta stay healthy. But if we keep playing like that, good things for the Clippers to come are You're right, it starts with health. Julio. I appreciate the phone call, but Kawhi looking this good already with thirty two games
left in the season. I didn't expect that. Everything they did to slowly bring him along on this rehab process has worked, because he looks to be right back where he was. I just didn't see it coming this fast. He's been explosive, the elevation on his jump shots, like I mentioned earlier, the way he just bully guys getting into the basket like Brown Junior or he got him I think in the third quarter, just muscling through defenders.
That's Kauai. That's Kawhi. Leonard Claw's strength. He's been doing this for a long time. But coming off in ACL tear, you just never know. He looks closer to himself already. Then Jamal Murray does to being back to his level that he was at before the ACL and he tore his I want to say a month and a half or two months before Kawai did.
Now that was I believe a full tear. Kauai is a partial I don't want to get into the nitty gerty of it too much because it's out of my depth, but it's just a great sign it's the most important thing to come so far out of this season. With the Clippers team that has been consistently inconsistent. People ask me what's their identity. Unfortunately that's what it is so far, but that can change very quickly. We thought, and coach lu said this recently. He thought they were close to ripping off a run
eight of ten, ten of twelve, something like that. And now they've won three in a row after losing nine of eleven, they've won three in a row, and there are some very positive signs and reasons to be optimistic about this Clippers team, including anytime you beat the Lakers. I know it feels good Clipper Nation, but they got their eyes on bigger prizes. They've
done this, They've been here and done that against the Lakers. Now to survive a game where Lebron James has forty six in a career high and nine made threes, it's impressive. They took their best shot in some ways. But they still don't have Anthony Davis. For being fair, they still don't have Austin Reeves. They still are missing some guys Lonnie Walker. Clippers could
use Luke Kennard though, but that's what was so impressive to me. They go fifteen or twenty from the outside of fifteen or twenty three from the outside in the first half and Luke Kennard isn't even available yet. The three point shooting on this team, they're sixth right now, they might be bumped up to fifth in the league, and three point shooting they have a higher ceiling
than that. We know this pretty much the same crew that shot over forty one percent in the season during the twenty twenty one a year is still with the Clippers. They're even better, I think from the outside. Personnel wise, they just haven't had Kawai and Paul George on the court enough to get as many of those open shots. But you see what happens with the gravity of those two players who superstars, the two on three connection. It just
opens up the floor for everybody. Damien and Los Angeles. I'm going back to you, Damian, what's up? You're on Clipper stop without a Muslin? Hey? Hey, hey hey many Yeah, man, we did that was a slid victory. I'm happy that they kind of got their little bit of Bob Marley redemption song on national television. Yeah. I like that. I don't know if it was it was that serious, and thank you for the phone called Damian. We lost you there once again. But they need
wins right now. They just have to start stacking them. They didn't play great defense against the San Antonio Spurs, but Norman Pale said it post game. We just gotta get victories. It's not so much about style points. You love to see it as they continue to build good habits, but it starts with victories. They need them because the West, there is still room
to maneuver. In fact is I'm looking over the NBA standings, and that's another reason this was a big game, because you don't want to fall into play in tournament territory, and the Clippers were dangerously close and still are. So they are the five seat now you know, they have the tiebreaker over the Dallas Mavericks, but also a better record now at twenty six and twenty
four Dallas at twenty five and twenty four because they lost earlier. But the Clippers nine games back of the Denver Nuggets, who have made that push and are nine and one of their last ten games and may run away with being the number one seed them in Memphis. Both those teams they've separated themselves.
Some Clippers are seven and a half games back of the Grizzlies. There's just seven games back, I should say, but there are only a few games back, a game and a half back of the fourth spot right in front of them, the New Orleans Pelicans still without Zion. That would be big. I said before. You'd feel a lot better having a top four seed and home court in the first round. And the Clippers right now they're heading and trending in the right direction, moving upwards. How howie? And they
eight one eight? Howie? What's up? You're on? Clippers stop without amazin? Oh hey there, man, just coming back from the game. Great game. One thing I was impressed about tonight was when the Lakers made their run there at the end of the fourth quarter. The Clippers really, uh, you know, they could have easily kind of turned in or but they stood up. I always have to play when George fell on the ground and battling for it, yeah, and then eventually Kawai came, they found
him. That was the play that started things for an Adol run and that put the Lakers away. Yeah. And that's what really impressed me, is, you know, because the crowd was really that when you know, it really gets electric in there when the Lakers started making the run. And uh, another thing impressed me. There were a lot of Clippers fans there tonight, more than I thought because I've been to a couple of Lakers home games
for the Clippers. But when the Clippers made runs, there were a lot of Clipper fans that were, you know, loud, So that was that was good to see. So but yeah, that was a big win for the Clippers. That was really that was really they're really looking good right now. They're really playing good. Howie. I appreciate the phone call, Glad you enjoyed the ball game. Another area of the Clippers died dominated in and they needed to, but they won the rebounding battle forty seven to thirty two.
That's big time. And you know who led them in that area once again, I think there's a second straight game. Kawhi Leonard had nine boards. He and Paul George had nine boards. They combined for eighteen to the forty seven Big Zoo with eight. But Nicholas but Toomb off the bench. Don't underestimate his performance, six boards, six assists. I know he had just four points who cares. He had a block as well, but Toombo showed up block tombs. No what Eagle likes to say. As well,
there were a lot of good contributions. And I've gone too long without mentioning Reggie Jackson, who hit the big three pointer in that eight ozho stretch. And Reggie, I want to say, started three of three from distance as the Clippers were that hot from the outside, but he had the floater going. He hit some tough layups, but yeah, four of seven the outside. Reggie shows up for these games in a big way. Something of concern though. Marcus Morris got off to a quick start. He hit a three
pointer but then went out ribs contusion. You saw him holding his chest area. He only played ten minutes, so that's something we're monitoring. We're also looking for postgame audio from coach Low. Clippers win one thirty three to one fifteen over the Lakers again ten straight now over the Los Angeles Lakers, who, if you're wondering, they are still in the thirteenth spot, so they
dropped down in the standings at twenty two and twenty six. Clippers really concerned about themselves, though I've said this throughout most of the season, and he'd be less concerned about the opposition and who they're playing that night and more concerned of how they're playing, because most nights the talent disparity is in their favor. They just gotta show up and start playing consistent basketball. Kawhi Leonard was
asked about if they had turned a quarter. I'm paraphrasing, but this was from Andrew Grife of the La Times post game after the victory Sunday against Dallas, and he didn't think so yet because he wants to see consistency in every area and that's the truth. That's where it has to be. They've been
consistently inconsistent. Is this the start to where the Clippers find themselves and build up that identity and get back to plan like the great defensive team we saw the first quarter of the year, along with the offense coming along, that would be the move because most championship teams top ten in both of those areas. More Clipper stock. Next, we'll talk with William Mupdyke from Clips and Tip and get back to your phone calls eight six six ninety seven two five
seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. I madam Osla. This is Clipper stock. If you're on Amp five seventy LA S four pretty rigging that the Mandans Clippers win one thirty three to one fifteen over the Los Angeles Lakers. Welcome back into your post game shell. This is Clippers talk. I'm out of maslin eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six ninety seven two five seventy is the phone number. We'll get back to
your phone calls. A couple of numbers. I want to mansion here. Coming into the ball game, we knew the Lakers have been terrorizing teams in the paint. They are very good in that area, getting into the teeth of the defense, getting to the free throw line, or just getting a lot of easy buckets. Well, the Clippers matched them in paint points fifty fifty in fast break points, another area of concern coming in keys of the ball game, can't get let the Lakers get into transition. Clippers matched them
there eleven fast break points for each squad. So they took away a couple of the strengths from the Lakers and made them their own. Great to see that, like Rogue and X been sapping their powers. All right, let's go to William Updike, our friend from Clips and Dip here on Clippers Talk a Little Clips and Double Dip Clips and Dip. Great podcast with myself and Charles Mockler as well. Follow at Clippers Pod. Will I thought the tone
was set early by Kauai. He was playing fast, had their first four points, They had that nine nothing lead, and really I thought played one of their better games on both ends. Outside of that third quarter. This was a pretty impressive victory for the Clippers, all things considered, All things considered totally. I mean, I think you were talking about talking about how the Clippers had hit like seven of their first threes and it was still like
a still a close game through that first quarter. I think they only had like a seven point lead, but really, both stars came in to start this one. Paul George had twelve in the first I mean, they set the tone really really early. Obviously the best first half for the Clippers all season long, and they really just set the tone though on both ends of
the floor. The only thing that kept continuing like continuing to kind of kill them was there were some stretches there where I thought Whenny and Gabriel, Whenny and Gabriel was really doing well against the underside Clippers, and then of course the you know, we didn't we didn't necessarily have an answer for Lebron James hitting nine threes. But I think that that is also a little bit by design, like you alluded to, you know, keeping keeping the Lakers out
of the paint. I think they are thirtieth in the league in points points per game, three pointers by like, by the presentage of their points, So it's not how they make a lot of their offense. So generally, if those are looks that they're they're looking to take, will give them up. And you know, Lebron was hot from three early and that wasn't even
it wasn't even uncontested or wide open looks. They were shots sometimes without even a single path, with Zubos right there at the point of attack guarding them. So some of those like aren't even great shot. But yeah, I thought they set the tone on both ends of the flour. And then one thing other than that third quarter, which we do have to talk about, because like twenty was a twenty one total points. That was a bit of
a stinker. I didn't I wasn't in love with the way that they closed quarters kind of overall, outside of the first where Terrence Man hit the big three point or the thirty footer, I wouldn't get a little bit of a dip though before that they did, because you're right, when you go seven of thirteen from three in the first quarter, you should probably be leading by
more than seven. But I'll say this, there were outliers from the Clippers, but certainly the Lebron James three point shooting, going nine to fourteen from the outside went over the last six games, he was eleven of forty three from three. That's just twenty five point six percent. That's probably a bigger outlier than what the Clippers were able to do because we've seen this team get super hot from three and be one of the best three point shooting teams for
a long time. But you pick your poison, you play the odds, and you live with the results something Lebron James, and I don't know if you got that from coach lou but he has always said that, you know, you play the odds, you live with the results a little bit. Lebron got his forty six points, but the Clippers still win by eighteen. Yeah, that third quarter you bring that up. I want to say three of their twelve turnovers came there, but they were just backbreaking, live turnovers,
just careless passes, sloppy basketball. Clippers only score twenty one points on the third the Lakers had twenty eight. And the Clippers had been much better in third quarters. But it was a rare sight to see them that ahead at the half with twenty three or up by twenty three, and they kind of took their foot off the gas a little bit. It looked like, Yeah, that's what it felt like. Do you alluded those light ball turnovers?
Like there was a couple just like back to back. It was like a real I mean, points slayers can happen, and any team could come back in especially you know, like when you have a player looking to his first forty against the Clippers, which, man, who what Clippers fan is ever going to forget the time Lebron James dropped forty on him finally, you know, But it did feel like there was a little bit of a of a loss there. It also like the three point shooting really fall back to
earth. We were one of nine in that quarter, so that is also an outlier. Another outlier from this game which we haven't talked about. Despite having a strong game overall, Russell Westbrook ended up hitting more threes than Kawhi Leonard, which I think that is probably a larger outlier, maybe even then, maybe even then nine Lebron pries he went one of four. Kawhi went
four from the outside in a game where they hit nineteen. Kawhi didn't get one, and he's been shooting above fifty percent from the outside his last ten
coming into this game. But we mentioned setting the tone and defensive intensity, Kawui being a defensive anchor at times when they and small with wingstop in norm out there, Norman Reggie, and he has a block on Wantascano Anderson he erases one, but the one that he swatted on Lebron was so emphatic in the second half, it was just like, Okay, yeah, Kawhi Kawai wants to be known as the best player in the game again, Like it's all it's it's lining up like that and where it was back when he first
came to the Clippers, you know, and you know you talk about him being the anchor, which he definitely is. It's one of those things I've never really understood about the criticisms of Kauai, that he's not a leader, that he's not vocal, but he's not this, that he's not that like if not just Kawai being on the floor, Like it's not just his defense single handedly elevating the defense of everybody else. It is like contagious what he's
doing. Watching Kawhi, like just the inevitability of how he plays, I think gives everyone around him confidence and it makes everybody else better on that end. And I thought there were some lineups, like some two guard lineups that we were able to get that we were able to get away with a little bit better, even being somewhat undersized at times. I did. I did think that Darvin Ham did a good job of trying to exploit some of those
sides mitsat mismatches. Robert Covington, I thought early even to start like he was having a bit of a rough game with him in that five position. I noticed Tywee a little bit later went to a larger front court with him and Zoo to combat that a little bit. You mentioned Paul George and him getting off to the hot start where I think he took seven shots in the first quarter. He took four shots in the first half. Against Dallas on
Sunday, he ends up taking more shots than Kawhi Leonard. He takes twenty to get his twenty seven, but some of the pop from him the putback jam in the third quarter, the way he slided through defenders in the second quarter with a euro step to get a tough layoup, another one high off the g in the fourth quarter. He hit big shots and was just so engaged throughout the entire contest. In his thirty six minutes, he was so engaged, like despite you know, I didn't think he was getting a really
friendly whistle. He got called for a couple of like two different defensive follows that I think probably could have been challenged and would have held up. He didn't hang his head there. You know, only only went to the line two times, He only had two free throw tests all games, only shot thirty three percent from three, still rattled off twenty seven points. Like I
thought, the game looked like it was coming very easily to him. He just looked he just looked like, you know, the Paul George that you want to see. It's like when the gears start to click, and you list and you take the clutch off and put in the gas and it just goes. I love that from Paul George. I wasn't like he had some he had some bad turnovers. We talked about some of the love ball turnovers.
In this game. He had a one to one assist the turnover ratio four to four, which you know he's going to be handling more point duties, more turnovers are going to come, and I think that, you know, you take the I think that you can take some of the trade off of that if he's able to stay aggressive offensively and able. Like I still think even despite some of those live all turnovers, he has some brilliant moments
defensively as well. Yeah, I agree with you. You kind of take the good with the bad there if it keeps him in rhythm and hands on the basketball and just being a part of the offense and not deferring too much. We've seen that often this season. Norman Powell. Certainly, when he gets the ball in his hands, it's just zero to one hundred real quick. He had eleven points in the second quarter. I want to say it
started three or four or four or four from the outside. He also had a great pass to a Vita Zubos for a dump to start the fourth norm though, is just I hope he's not peeking, but it looks like that right now he's at least more comfortable than he has been in his role as a Clipper, especially now playing next to Kawaii and Paul George again. Oh
absolutely, And he was like on another level of the night. He was hitting like such deep, heat checked shots Like it was so surprising because it seemed like there were there were some points where the Lakers felt like they might be content to really just let us go back and forth from deep, which with the shooters on this roster is just absolutely unconscionable. Uh No, he is. He is snapping into form. I think that it's helped him like
have a little bit more idea of his role. I think the things that were so frustrating about Power early on was just it was very clear that he was trying to do a lot whilst coming back from an injury, Walst trying to you know, sort of establish himself in this lineup. And I still
think there are changes to be made of his role. I still think that it is a possibility that we could see him in a starter role, even though I really do like him coming off the bench with that sort of like extra punch, with that sort of like extra arrow and the quiver, so
to speak. But no, he he is coming back into form. I mean, he's just the guy who like he can sleepwalk his way to twenty to twenty points a game like it's it's that easy for him offensively, and you know, with with Kawai and Paul George, you know, in the game around him able to cover up for some of that defensively. You know, there's there's there's less drawbacks certainly than when we you know, we had our struggles playing multiple guards and trying to figure out those rotations early on.
Uh, you know, when the two stars are playing like that on both ends of the floor, it makes a lot of things work. Surprise, surprise. You know, you mentioned him at some point maybe being in the starting role, but obviously Terrence Mann is working right now. And somehow I kind of had a quiet seventeen I want to say, in some ways.
Of course, he hit some big shots. He hit four three pointers, and he was the beneficiary of what would have been a turnover from Paul George throwing the ball off of beats the Zoobot's back and go to the hands of Terrence Man. He gets an easy one, and it was kind of that type of night for the Clippers. But he also had a steal and got it to Paul George for a dunk. Just doing some of those little things.
But I love him in that opening lineup because the Clippers need juice, They need somebody who gets downhill, and he just brings that consistent energy. And you know, one of his idols or one of his mentors, Patrick Beverley, kind of taught him that. Oh absolutely absolutely, And I'm not saying he should be supplanted, but I think I think quiet is the right way to put it. But I don't mean that. I don't mean that
in a negative or pejorative way towards Terrence. Like he just fifths so well that it's not something you really even have to think about a lot of the time. And he's just in the right place at the right time to come up with those big plays. I mean, you mentioned the bother beater. He had some highlights within a game where like he just I mean, he's
like a batum level blue guy that. Yeah, that that makes everything kind of sit together, and then you look at the box scoring you're like, wow, Terence Mann also almost went off for twenty, Like we almost had four twenty points to scorers. Yeah, hi, if you count five, way to count Reggie. I mean he was a one point away too. He's like that left tackle that never really gives up a sack but doesn't get
his name called a lot because of that. You know, he's so reliable and consistent out there five to ten for his seventeen because he hit four three pointers, including yeah, that was a loud one to in the first quarter. Of course, Clippers win one thirty three to one fifteen over the Lakers. He is William Updyke from the Cliffs and Dip pod with myself and Charles Mockler. The Lakers just came back on our team down twenty five. They won a close one late against Memphis and broke their eleven game winning streak. And the Clippers two one three connections stepped up when they had to and made huge plays on both ends for them to pull away in this one.
