The game is over. Paul George money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just be gone. Coi Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers locker Roo, a recap of today's game and a look ahead on your hope for La Clippers basketball at now your host, You, sir, are a bad man, Adam Oslin. The Clippers get the biggest victory in the history of the Clippers Lakers battles over the season. They win one twenty five to one eighteen. Here at Crypto dot Com Arena. Welcome
into your postgame show. I'm Adam Oslin. Coming up second half highlights, your post game box score. You'll hear from head coach Toron lou and the players. But first back to your voice of the Clippers in Noah Eagle. No, you talked about it early on with the Lakers having played four games in their last six nights. They just played an overtime game last night against the Utah Jazz. The strategy early, run'em ragged, and that's normally
a game they like, but not against this Clippers team. Was some of the matchups that Coach Leu through out there. No the Lakers are are fourth in the NBA and paced on the season. They like to get out and run, They like to get in transition. But Tlou said it when when I asked him pregame about, Hey, are you gonna start revealing some things right now, start to unload the tank? He said, not playbook wise, but matchup wise, line up wise. Yeah, we're gonna see some
things we haven't seen. And I think we did and it worked out to perfection. You know, bones Thigland and Terrence Man coming off the bench again, energy major, major, energy of itsa zoobots monstrous in this game. Seventeen points, thirteen boards. He somewhat ruined his field goal percentage against the Lakers. On the season, he came in shooting ninety four percent from the
field against the Lakers thirteen to fourteen. So after today he's, you know, nineteen of twenty four and oh yeah, but he's had just that type of year overall and certainly against the Lakers. And Dennis Degastino just popped this over to me. This tells you all you need to know about this matchup. Eleven straight wins for the Clippers. Of course, Clippers have led by
double digits in every single game. At least one point in the game, they've led by double digits, the biggest lead the Lakers have had in all eleven games. Six. I was gonna guess six. Six. Wow. That's It's one thing, right, It's one thing to say, oh, they've won eleven straight. It's another thing to really break down those numbers and go, oh no, no, no, they've destroyed them eleven straight times and again tonight. I know they end up winning by seven. This was
much more than a seven point game. They were up twenty four, and the third quarter they go back up by sixteen, eighteen, I think even at one point in the fourth quarter, maybe even twenty. Actually, I think about it. In the fourth quarter they were up twenty. You know, this was one of those games the Lakers kind of make a slight push, but it never really felt like it was in question. Clippers deserve a lot of credit for the way they got up for this one. They knew
how important this was. This was equally as important to the Lakers in so many ways, and the Clippers found a way through all you can ask from your team, Kawhi Leonard played the entire second half of this game, which is not something we see all the time. And they got a huge victory to basically put themselves in the driver seat to get really stay in the top six in the Western Conference. And you talked about the third quarters early in
the second half. In that third quarter with five of them, they had zero turnovers. In that fourth quarter. They took care of the basketball. They were able to hold off runs by the Lakers because they weren't giving them extra possessions out there. Well, that was Torontlo's biggest key to the game. The key to victory was take care of the basketball. That was the first thing he said. His eyes lit up when I brought by the way, did you have two protein drinks today? Or did you have your bits?
I didn't even get to my beef jerk, you did not. I was gonna say it, and now you're never gonna let me have it again. You can't have it. It's over, it's done, it's done. And this is it. I call game on that beach. This is it. This is it. Bacon bits, whatever they are, I don't care them out or superstitious here. I'm gonna start going full Kevin Garnett Craig Sager on you if I have to with it no matter what not happening. Yeah,
burn it just go all the socks tup sucks too. This was This was just a comprehensive win that the Clippers needed in the worst way, and to your point, to do it in the fourth quarter by taking care of
the basketball. To do it in the fourth quarter with Bones Highland coming off the bench and just providing a spark that they didn't expect for Norman Powell to recognize that he needed to attack, and that second quarter takeover down the stretch, in the third quarter into the fourth quarter, takeover twenty seven points to lead the way for the Clippers. Spectacular performances from them, and the Clippers bench outscores the Lakers bench in this game fifty five to twenty five. That
is Clipper basketball. It has been for really quite some time. Kawhi Leonard leads to the starters with twenty five. Norman Powell led the Clippers with twenty seven. But the end of that second quarter the three points shooting from Kawhi hit three threes to end the second in one right before the buzzer. The first half, just big time shots from your leader to give you some confidence
and get you up nineteen heading into the brain, right. Well, that's the momentum shift, right, That was where it felt like, okay, the Clippers had built enough, and then the Lakers end up coming out and doing enough too in the second half, in the third in particular, just keep it close enough to keep it interesting. And that's really Lebron James who had thirty second half points in this game and ends up going four of six from three. Now, he didn't go off from three to the level he
did in the last matchup with these two teams. He couldn't miss from the outside in that one, and the Clippers actually won that game by eighteen points despite Lebron going for forty six, eight and seven. I actually thought they did a great job on Anthony Davis today. And look, ad played forty two minutes last night, so there's a good chance that he was somewhat worn down. But he only took fourteen shots. He had seventeen points, eleven
rebounds in thirty three minutes. I mean, he got out played again by Viza Zuboss And it feels like it happens every single time these two match up. Zoo had seventeen point, thirteen rebounds, two steals, a block, and an assist, a D seventeen eleven, three assists and two blocks. I mean, very similar, I guess, But if you're an Anthony Davis, you should be dominating that matchup. And you want to say you want
to talk about taking it personally. I know. Russell Westbrook still had a very solid game despite only playing twenty one minutes to ninety at fourteen points, three rebounds, four assists, a block in a steal, and he came out at the tone really for the Clippers and deserves a lot of credit for that. I beats the zoo bots every time he plays. The Lakers has something for him. I swear every single time, and we've talked to him about it, both myself and some of the Medium members asked him about it.
He was hurt when they traded him. He didn't think he deserved to be traded by them. That was his team going out. It was his team, correct. Correct. So he gets there and he's putting together a pretty good career, and he's putting together a really nice season, and he's showing the developments that now we've gotten to see. But Magic Johnson at the time felt like it was the right move for the Lakers to bring in a shooter, and they bring in Mike Muscala and the rest of his history,
but Zoo takes it personally. Zoo goes full last dance on this team and every example, but every I swear, every single time they play. I'm just gonna pull up because I put it in my phone as to what his numbers were against the Lakers this year. Ten points per game, eleven rebounds, ninety three percent from the floor, and three blocks a game. So he came into that. He was thirteen and fourteen from the floor coming in his mention. So he's now nineteen of twenty four on the season against them.
But he went five of six of the free throw line tonight, seventeen points and thirteen rebounds. I mean, he improved upon what he was averaging against the Lakers this year. He has just had monster games almost every time over the last few seasons. And it goes back to what I asked t Lou pregame, and you always bring up using him as an offensive threat.
It's not only good for him, it's not only good for the team, but I think it opens up lanes for everybody else because now he's actually garnering so much more attention now Anthony Davis has to pay attention to him, and we've seen him as a lot threat. We've seen him as a duck in type of guy, a rollman, a fill the lane. He's just as much of a threat. So defenses have to now game plan for that a lot more. I think that opens things up for guys like Russell Westbrook to
drive, Eric Gordon to drive of course Kauai or even Norman Powell. We saw got a couple more layups today because they were extra focused on one of each Zubots was doing to them down the stretch, and the Clippers ended up attempting more free throws than a lot of That is because Norman Powell and his willingness to attack the basket. You talked about it. He wasn't getting those calls early on. He kept fighting through not getting those calls. Eventually did
earned him and then went ten for ten at the charity stripe. That's it, and that's his game. What I've always said this about Norman Powe, and I said this about any great bench scorer, and that's what Lou Williams was taught early in his career. He was taught get to the free throw line. Let that be the first thing you do, because when you come off the bench, you're cold. You know you've been sitting there for a little bit, a couple of minutes into the game. You're not going to
just go out there and knock down the first three. You might and there if you're open, you take it. But the best thing you can do for yourself is get to the free throw line. And once Norm got to the line the first time, it was downhill from there. He he just went for it. He just fought through everything. He just made it happen and did it the rest of the game. I kept his foot on the gas, pedal to the metal, made sure it happened for this team.
So twenty seven points the hard way, I would say, in many ways, because he only made one three, and he did it in a Norman Powell sense of Okay, get myself to the line and let everything else play off from there. Then once he got in rhythm, then we saw that dagger jump shot at the end of the fourth quarter. That's Norman power basketball.

Clippers led seventy one to fifty two at the half, as Why hit a big three pointer to end the second quarter. In the third, Lebron had it going, but as did Norman Powell. Vanderbilt left blod block by Plumley, rebound taken down by Powell, and here it comes left to right three. Gonna have to go on
the third. How loll gonna drive middle? He does all the way to the ram and swoops it up an end of the right hand. Norman Powe is seventeen. Norman Powell with ten of his twenty seven in the ballgame in that third quarter. But Lebron James had sixteen points in the third after just three in the first half. Clippers still led ninety three to eighty two heading into the fourth, and early on it was Bones Highland taken over Leonard back to Highland. Top of the heat. Deep three is up, head down.
Time to get busy Bones. Thailand has no fear one oh three eighty six, Clippers nine twenty to play. How the clubs over tried middle, kickout horsyke quarter Highland another three, another three ball Bones, Thailand finds Nylon and the Clippers lead one oh six ninety. The kid is ready. Here is Thailand on the right. Wake ups over his right middle to the don line. Wholso with the right hand, get to the roll off the front
iron and bone. Thailand coming alive with eleven and the fourth Bones had all fourteen to his points in that fourth quarter, knocked down three threes. The Clippers were starting to open things back up again, and then they got a little bit flashy. It was Norman Powell and Kawhi, Leonard connect and of steel politics and away from Vanderbilt, left to Reddy Lops and off flittered skies
high Kawhi with the biggest Kawhi light of the season. Time out Lakers one twelve ninety two, four of Norman Pale's assists, two of Kawhi letters twenty five points and the Clippers would run through the tape and win once twenty five to one eighteen over the Los Angeles Lakers in the biggest game because of what's happening in the standings. Next twenty minutes we got your voice of the Clippers in Noah Eagle call in Now get on with Noah. After the Clippers biggest victory ever over the Lakers, the biggest victory of the season, and they are
in a great spot now Noah to stay out of the play tournament. Look, that was the name of the game coming into the night, and everybody around the NBA world and certainly in the Los Angeles basketball scene, understood the levity of the game that was about to be played. We could feel the anticipation beforehand. You could feel the energy when this game started, and right off the bat, Russell Westbrook set the tone and really the Clippers didn't look
back from there. The Lakers made a couple pushes here and there, but for the most part, this was as close to a wired to wire win without it being a wired to wire win as possible. And the Clippers, we've talked about this a little bit this season and certainly in past seasons, when their back is against the wall, when they need something in the worst way, when it's essentially win or you're done. For the most part,
this team has come through. Let's think about it. Backs against the wall two years ago, down two zero, to the Dallas Mavericks, going to Dallas first game since pre covid that the Mavericks have a full packed house and you go down thirty to eleven to start the game. You win that game on the road, then you win Game four on the road. Then you
lose Game five at home in a brutal, heartbreaking fashion. If you remember, Terrence Man maybe had a layup, decided to pass it, and then it was an awkward shot for Nick Batoum, and it would have been a go ahead final minute shot. Instead, Dallas comes back the other way, extends it and wins game five. Because you're down three two what happens? Kawhi Leonard herculean performance. JJ Redick has said it's one of the best performances
he's ever seen. I think we all agree. Forty five points, forty five points, step back threes on back to back possessions to basically ice the game in the fourth quarter. Win that game, win Game seven, winner, go home. Then in the second round going down two well again to the number one team in the NBA, team with the best record in the NBA that year. People forget that they were incredible. They were nearly unbeatable
at times during the regular season. They had what was their winning Street Day year nineteen twenty games and they were always tough at home, of course, yeah, and that was a great environment. Clippers lose the first two games, Clippers win the next two. What happens in Game four, Kawhi Leonard goes down, comes out that it tears his acl Most people just think it's a death sentence, but not for this team, but because when their back
is against the wall, that's when they thrive. And in Game five, sure enough in Utah, Paul George put the team on his back and they win. And still most people are like, all right, I mean, there's no Kawhi Leonard here. Who cares? You know? They go down twenty five and the third quarter of Game six, a game that you almost didn't show up at Adam, You were this close to not coming. What
happened to me? We could talk about it off, but I remember we got you here, and that was what changed the energy of this game. No, the Clippers went down twenty five and the third quarter after Donovan Mitchell Logo three essentially, which he kept hitting over the course of that series. And I think most people just thought that game and that series was over because if it went back to Utah for Game seven, nobody expected the Clippers to
compete. Sure enough, come back from twenty five down reach their first ever Western Conference Finals in dramatic fashion. Let's fast forward to the next series. Go down Oh two again, you win game three here at home, you lose just a rock fight of Game four that could have gone either way, and quite honestly, a Game two probably should have been a Clipper win. So you could look at that series in a variety of ways. But I look at it like this. They went down OZ two, they win game
three, to lose game four, Game five. I remember showing up to Phoenix that year and the Suns, the media, the broadcast to group for the Suns, and a lot of the workers there had brought champagne and cake that they brought champagne and cake and told me before today is gonna be really special. And Paul George put up a playoff career high forty one points. I wonder if they had that when they were up two on the Bucks stave the elimination. We're not gonna go there at him. I'm not gonna go
there. We're not We're not trying to beat them when they're down. Just stay in the day out. Now, it's just stating the facts here. All this to say backs against the wall, they found it. How about last year twenty five point comebacks? Five comebacks of twenty or more last year set an NBA record thirty five point comebacks and largest in the NBA's history. I mean, this is a team that has proven when their backs against the wall, they bring their best. And tonight their back was all the way
up against the wall. They were getting measured with their height where the parents put the little mark on the door, and sure enough they grew a couple inches and they matured and bones Thailand came in the fourth quarter and they just made it work and they made it happen. And all it does for them right now is put them in position they still have to finish the job.
There's two more games left on the schedule. Saturday's paramount. You have to have it against a Blazer team that has shut down Damian Lillard, likely shut down, January Grant, shut down, maybe use of Nurkic. You gotta win that game. And if the Clippers win that game, they're gonna feel pretty good about where the're at They're currently in the five spot in the West because they have the tiebreaker over the Golden State Warriors, and we'll have it
over them. With this victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, because it comes down to division record, then the Lakers now are in the seventh spot. So as much as we sold this game and build this game as the biggest game between these two teams ever, it was endingwise, this was the most meaningful, crucial game that has ever been played between the Clippers and Lakers,
and the Clippers come out on top. And you mentioned all those moments, and the first thing I think of, because a lot of different players, a different roster at times. No Kawhi Leonard in that run to the Western Conference finals, No Paul George right now, the common denominator to me Coach
Lou. Yeah, and he was magnificent tonight. I thought Russell Westbrook got getting them off to the hot start, but then Coach Lou only letting him play five minutes in that third quarter in the second half and not going back to him when he saw guys who are out there that stayed hot. Yeah, d percent right, And so he deserves a lot of credit for the way he's handled, not just this game, but I really feel like the last couple of games where he's been willing a lot more to use quick timeouts.
Not for the most part, he was someone and he always talked about Phil Jackson and learning from the zen Master and how he allowed his team to work through their problems and they got stronger because of it. But his teams were good enough to do it, and some of the past teams the Clippers
have had probably good enough to do it. But right now, when they don't have Paul George out there and they need to make sure every possession counts as much as they possibly can with their backs against the wall, it's got to be that quick trigger, and he's recognized it. And I think he deserves a lot more credit than he's probably gotten for how he's managed such a
tumultuous season with injuries and so many other factors. With this team bringing in four new players after the All Star breaking, all four of them contributing at the level that they are, that's not common. I know the Lakers are in a similar boat, but it's not common. You know, most of the time you bring in four new players, it's just you're just trying to finish the season. Both these teams still believe they can win a championship right
now, and they're getting that level of production. So I think both Darvin Hamm and certainly Toront Lou deserve a whole lot of praise for the way they've handled it. And you're right tonight he was spectacular Leberna. So we're gonna get to your phone calls in just moments at eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. But while
we have a moment, let's pause ten seconds from station identification. Here on a five seventy l A Sports, this is LA Clippers Basketball AM five seventy KLAC Los Angeles, ninety seven KYSR HD to Los Angeles and iHeart radio station Morris and Long Beach. You normally close things out, start things off. Tonight you got Noah Eagle here on Clippers Talk. Morris. What's up? Nor You're the best. No, I'm telling you right now, you are the best. Don't get jealous at him. You are the best. Let
me say that you know some Let me tell you about the Clippers. What the Clippers got? The Clippers got six guys. They get in a multiple three in the fourth quarter. Now think about this rowcode up a tune, Gordon, Powell, Bones Highland and the Man Kawhi. The Clippers remind member stick shift in the first the first gear is Westbrook, The second gear is either gonna be Man in power is gonna be Man and Gordon, and then the third gear is Kawhi. The fourth gear who's ever is hot. The
most valuable player on the Clippers is Zoobok. He's not the best player on the Clippers. He's the most valuable player because you didn't kept the fourth He hailed it out until we got our team together. And Westbrook, I'm say why he was hurt. He wasn't the reason why the Lakers were losing. The Lakers didn't have any shooters. Well, Westbrooks feel like he's in a candy store. Now, all right, go up to you later, Morris. Appreciate you Man. I love hearing your calls. Morris. He always
brings some positivity, always bring good analysis. And you're absolutely correct. You didn't even mention Terrence Man as somebody who can knock down a number of threes, which he did tonight. Again, shout the ball really well with good confidence two for two from Downtown four or five overall and was second on the team and plus minus. He always loves, always loves looking at it.
What does he always say at him, don't play with me? Plus twelve off the bench from Terrence Man and night Nico Putuma the only one better at plus thirteen. But I love the Morris is saying, and he's right of Echa Zoo bots deserves if you want to just talk about who who needs their flowers more than they've gotten over the course of not just this year, but over the course of his career of Echa Zoo botch is at the top of the list. Yeah, I'm always happy to see Big Zoo thrive because he
does all the little things, all the dirty work. When guys get beat on the perimeter, he is there covering for them in the post. Terrace Man also in that second quarter a couple of huge momentum throwdowns when the Clippers were getting into transition over and over again, twelve of their twenty four fast break points coming in that second quarter alone. Though it was just a track
meet out there, and that's the game they wanted to play. It's the game that they felt was best suited for this particular day against the Lakers, because of the back to back, because of the logjam in their schedule, because of the heavy minutes that their guys had to play. They felt like if they could run, they could be successful. And sure enough they were right. They win once twenty five to one, eighteen over the Lakers.
Javier and Lahabra heights. You're on Clippers top with your voice at the Clippers. Noa eagle, Javier? What's good? What's all the guys? It just left the game? Man. It was like always when they play the Lakers. The cripple was always loud, and I lost my voice. What's going on? No eagle? Good? Good? Good? Real quick? A couple of things. Don't know if you talked about Adam, but bones Highland man, he was clutching the fourth quarter. He made those couple of
those threes and a bucket. I don't think to win the game without him. I mean tylu did put him in the fourth quarter. He didn't put Russell Westroll back in the game. That was smart. I told everybody around, all the season ticket holders there, Russell Westbrook can not come back in the game. He gotta keep Bones and look what happened ride the momentum. Bones Highland was a killer in that fork. Noah, yeah, no,
they don't even come close to winning this game. I think if it wasn't for what he provided, because it felt like every time the Lakers drew closer and closer and closer, it was either Highland or Powell who had the bucket to keep the Clippers in front and keep a enough momentum in their favor just to push them through that finish line. But what always stands out to me about Bones Highland is he's never afraid of any moment. We saw it last
year in Denver as a rookie in the playoffs. He came up sometimes Shoston fall he was never afraid to take them. That's always that's the biggest part for a kid who's never been in that moment before. Bones just torn two years old, and the Clippers really view him as a big piece for the future. You know, Lawrence Frank in this front office. They traded for him with the intention of having him as a long term option as a guy who can develop into a point guard or a Lou Williams type guy off the
bench. We've seen flashes of both, And honestly, today we saw flashes of both. Hits, big jump shots, got to the rim, got to the free throw a line a couple of times, nice float in the lane. But how about some of the feeds. He had no look inside a Mason Plumley at one point he had a couple of spray outs to three point shooters and then they had a lob to a Visa Zoobots. That was
a huge, huge finish down the stretch in this one. Yeah, the Clippers ended up with forty six points in the paint, not a huge number, but the Lakers just fifty four, and they had been averaging over sixty over the last week. The Lakers were so good in that area, you know, their fifth in the league in that category for the season, fifty five a game. What makes them so dangerous to me is they don't need
three pointers to beat you. Sometimes is a bonus. But even though the Clippers gave up twelve of twenty nine shooting from the out side to the Lakers and they end up shooting fifty one percent from the field, I felt like most every bucket they really had to work for the Clippers defense was about as good as it could be our most shots, no doubt about it. I just felt like they were attached on a string for the most part in this
game. And look, the Lakers in the second half put up sixty six points to get up to one eighteen, But the Clippers had done so much great work in the first two quarters. They built up enough of a cushion. And that's why we've seen for how many how many of these last few years, how many games were they got off to the slow start, and now they're the team that's battling back, and a lot of times they could make their way back and just expend so much energy. This game they got
off to the quick start. And almost every game of this eleven game win streak against the Lakers, they've gotten off to the quicker start. They've gotten up big early in the game, and so even when the Lakers make their run, there's this sense of calm and confidence and poise from the Clippers. And I thought we saw that again tonight. They answered those runs. Damien in LA You're on Clippers Talk, their Voice of the Clippers, Noah Eagle,
Damian what's up? Deatho Man and Noah Ego triple A man, Great win. Great call. I really enjoyed it. I had some late work, you know, so I got to catch the first half with you. Noah, Man, you know, I think probably you should be the one getting the go chance and stuff like that. Bro, like yourself. Man, I you know, I'm gonna speak to him in his native language when I see him next. I'm gonna be there on Saturday. Bro. But
man, what a great win. We don't you guys were talking about Tyler not being talked about enough as far as this is, this philosophy and being trusted. So let's talk about it a little bit. The toomb one per seven from the field. He left him in there for twenty nine minutes. You know, I really love the fact that he's trusting guys. The trust is obviously being infectious because you know, four or five games ago, you know Hyland, he couldn't get a sniff of that ball in Kawai. Kawai's
looking for him. Now we're finding trust. Kawai's trusting guys. He's feeling comfortable with these guys. Obviously, practice and everything has something to do with it, but it starts from the top down, and so you're seeing kay Lou and it's imprint and what he actually brings to a team. It's gonna start coming out. We've been playing possum for a little bit. If you guys seem beer fest, I feel like it's that part at the end. We're not that front. We're not that drunk Sellis, you know. So
I feel really confident about where we're headed going into it. I like all the contributions we've talked about Highland and uh you know, and and our young guys. I love what they're doing. The Kauai not I'm gonna go ahead and say that I love what they're doing. I love what Kawhi and Russ are doing together in the first half. Let's go. Let's keep it going, all right, Damon appreciate the phone call. Yeah, Damian, appreciate you. Man. Always go to insight from you as well, always here
at the game and always on Clippers talk. But the one part that that he brought up was Nick Patoum staying in there, and that was a huge factor. Nick was the guy who led the team in plus minus a plus thirteen. He played thirty minutes tonight, and despite going one of seven from downtown five points in the game, just two rebounds and an assistant two steals. You might look at that and say, why why did he play so much? And I believe it was Morris who brought up how a Visa Zoobots
is the most valuable player on this team. Well, I don't know if I could go that far, but how often have we said that those two guys are the two most undervalued players or underappreciated players by maybe people outside of cliber Nation, People who don't follow this team on a day to day basis might look at Nick Batoum said he's averaging six points per game and four rebounds. Who cares? Well? I care because he is an impactful player on
both ends of the floor. Defensively, you know that he's gonna give you maximum effort, and you know he's gonna be willing to take challenges that maybe other guys won't, and he's willing to expend that energy. Offensively, he goes through streaks. We talked about it before the game. He was on fire in the last three home games before this one. Then he couldn't hit water in the previous three games heading into this one on the road, and
he goes one of seven tonight, but he keeps shooting it. He stays confident, and this team lifts him up. They know what he does well, they know how he can help them, and he knows how he can help them. So he just goes out there and plays his tail off every single night. And he's incredibly valuable for Toron Lou his switchability going from guarding Lebron to Anthony Davis. They threw so many different looks at both those guys
throughout the ball game. And speaking of Coach Lou and just being a mastermind out there, you may have heard Clipper Nation him say yesterday at practice that they were going to guard Anthony Davis won on one with the Vizza Zubats. Well, from the get going this one, they were throwing all kinds of looks at Anthony Davis and he never got comfortable out there. No, he
didn't, he didn't. His numbers really show that this is a guy that's averaging twenty seven points and twelve and a half rebounds per game on the season, twenty seven and twelve and a half. He finished with seventeen and eleven and Iviza Zubats just outplayed him. Again. It's just plain and simple. So I think the Clippers have done a great job on Anthony Davis, and
for the most part, they'd done a great job on Lebron. James had a huge second half, but he was still a minus ten on the game, and the rest of the starters for the Lakers were all positive plus minus. That should tell you all you need to know. That second quarter where the Clippers were beating the Lakers and outscoring them without Kawai out there and with Lebron James out there for the Lakers, that was some really impressive basketball,
next level stuff for sure. Sean and Inglewood, Sean, what's up? You're on Clippers tack? Noah Eagle your voice that the Clippers is with you? Hello, Double A and no Egle, good to talk to you. Met you before. Noah, you had persony gentleman. I just want to say a couple of things. As far as I'm concerned, Zoobach had a
almost perfect game. I mean, his defense was there, he was very intimidating on the boards, and I love the way that the Coopers kept getting into the chest of Anthony Davis before he can actually get into his rhythm, as you spoke of before. But also I saw a nice increase in the way that Tylo was coaching games lately, because he's not going by some set formula and preconceived time for one guy and one guy, set changes or set
substitutions. He actually just takes you if you're not hot, if you're not producing, you come out the game, like he did Russell Westbrook. So I mean, if Bones got it going, okay, let's get Bones in there. And that made a big difference in this game because Clippers go into a couple of lows, especially sometimes when they get a big League and you know, everybody was saying, oh, I hope they don't blow this big league like I was saying, And a few times they had some downtimes in
the game. But ty did good getting the people out who weren't productive and keeping people on the floor who were product So in this case, he coached this game, not a formula for you know, games to come. And so at this point of the season, you just got to go with whoever's producing. When you get into the playoffs, you start or some guy that you think you're gonna get a lot of points from a lot of productions. He may have a bad game. Some guys just waiting to go in there
saying if I get in, I'm gonna tear it up. You have to play these guys, Sean, we hear you. We hear your coach Lew heard you. Obviously unbelievable performers coaching wise, No, Sean, I think Sean, it's honestly, it's probably a pretty common viewpoint in a lot of ways. And just let me, I guess, give you my perspective as someone who's around the team. I think that everybody looks at how Toront Lewis coached this year and said, why is he sticking to X, Y and
Z for the majority of the year. He's had guys on minutes restrictions And what that does is basically he gets told, hey, you have to play this guy at this period of the game. So, especially when you're trying to work a guy back in, that's hard because you have to get him in and so you can't break away from that. So now we're gotten to the point of the season where one the Clippers don't have anyone currently who's playing, and if Paul George makes his way back soon then held up be on
a minute's restriction at some point. But they don't have anyone right now, who's currently playing on a minute's restriction. A case in point, Kawhi Leonard in this game played forty three minutes after playing it back to back just a couple of days ago. They understand now is the time. It's go time and come playoff time. No minutes restrictions. You play the playoffs. You just play quiet starting that fourth quarter. By the way, another great move.
One hundred percent, one hundred percent. So Norman Powell missed eleven straight games and played thirty five and a half minutes tonight. So I think that's what we're seeing now is that he's more. He's Telou has the freedom to actually coach it. Telou has the freedom to go buy feel as he likes to say. He didn't have that necessarily all a year. And that's really the peel behind the curtain is a lot of times he gets dictated, and
coaching staffs from all around the league get dictated. But with that being said, I don't want you to look at that as a bad thing. It's a good thing because you're preserving guys for when it matters most, for this time of year. And guess what, Kawhi Leonard, who over the course of the year, has had minutes restrictions, is looking like the best version of himself now as we're getting towards the postseason, and that's a scary thought.
Forever plays this team. So I get it. It's frustrating over the course of a season. But from toront Loo's perspective, when he has the freedom like today and he can coach by fuel, this is the result. Jose in Southgate, you're on Clipper stock with Noah Eagle, your voice of the Clippers. Jose, what's good? First off, Pop, thank you for having me as the most important to related game of the date. Second, Noah, did you give Adam before the game started? Did I give
him one? Oh? The oh? Yes I did. I said that he's the best I did. I did see you? That was that was nicely you to stop by, by the way, and your beard is quite impressive, he did. Oh. Oh, Mama, I saw I saw you over the game. The good dude, Ready Adam fucking interrupt you. Anyways, I'm gonna man who First off, that was a whole lot of yellow right boys. Whoo man, thank you man bon Thailand? Why Leonards?
Towards the end, I saw him, you know from anger. I was sitting I saw that play where he came a kind of limping shout the free throws, but then he did that last It was amazing. I have so much to say, but Clippers. Look, you're with the voice of the Clippers. You get a little bit of stage fright, you get overwhelmed. Jose came right up. He wished us both a great show before the
game started today. He was in great spirits and I think that his positivity carried us through, not just on the broadcast, but on the court as well. Clipper nations showed up big time. This team rallies around the energy they feed off of it from the crowd here and going up against the Lakers, where these there's these wild swings of momentum because you got Lakers fans in the house, Clippers fans in the house. When a team goes on a run, you hear their fans, they come through easily, Oh no,
no doubt. Yeah. But I would say that Jose would have wanted to say, those fans that were in the building that were from the opposing team, they left pretty sad. Someone left early too. They did leave pretty early. Yeah, even when even when the Purple and gold tried to make their run late. Felt like some of those fans already shuffled out a little bit. Ali, it Lancaster, your odd Clippers. Talk with your voice and the Clippers and noa eagle. Allie, what's up? Yeah, I'm
good. I'm good man. Thank you for taking my call. Yeah. To be honest with you, this game, I was so nervous. I was so nervous because for the long time would be taking Lakers then never have a good team like this time. The Clippers may give them credit, and thank you to Magic Johnson to give the Clippers zubas he is my favorite player
of all time, Magic Johnson, not just for that reason. Ali, You're absolutely correct, though a visa Zubats has been I don't think anybody could have expected this level of impact from him when he first got traded to the Clippers. I think everybody thought, oh, he's got a chance to be a decent center in the NBA. But to average a double double over the course of a season, and to do it averaging just about eleven and ten, now, I mean that's the step that he takes each year. And
he just turned twenty six at the end of March. So young player, someone who is still just entering the prime of his career, of his athletic lifetime. And every single season he comes back, he gets a little bit better than the last season, and then next season a little bit better than the next season, and then a little bit better. And if he improves even from what he's doing this year to next year, I mean, think
about how much better that makes this team. And especially you know, Mason Plumley is going to be a free agent at the end of the year, but they continue to get a secondary big in there with him, so he doesn't have to do all the work self like they had with Isaiah Hartenstein last year. It just it makes this team so dangerous. And I think his rim protection actually gets lost in the shuffle. He's a great rim protector.
He had five blocks in the first matchup with the Lakers this year, and he might not have had a huge number of blocks today, but he patrolled the paint very very well. He did a good job of just going out there and deferring some players from going all the way inside. So another great game from Aviza Zubats, another great win for the Clippers over the Lakers. Playing and simple wasn't assist from Magic on that one. I mean, Josiah Downey, you're on Clippers stock with Noah Eagle. Hey, guys, hope
you are doing great. It was great. It was a good win. I was really really impressed with zubos play in the middle. Matched Anthony Davids minutes, got a couple more rebounds than him, and matched his points. I think that was big. Plumny's fourteen minutes it was big too, But just that ty Lou played Zuba double of what plumb played. That was a big difference there. You know, I had some calls earlier after the trade deadline. For some reason, there's a contingent of Clippers fans that aren't sold
on a Vizza Zuba. What they think, well, he doesn't have great hands. They forget the fact that he was playing with broken hands when he first came over, which is crazy by the way he played through it. He's a tough guy. He's an iron man for this team, and he is easily the best defensive center on this team, as good as Mason Plumbly can be at times. I Vizza Zubats has proven he's one of the best
in the league on that end. Yeah, No, he is just under the radar, doesn't do it anything flashy, just very much in position high basketball IQ hardest worker you're gonna find. You know, his teammates love him. His teammates all love him. Going back to when he first got here, Patrick Beverley fell in love quickly, Lou Williams fell in love quickly, Mantras Harold because he was battling with them in practice and he wasn't afraid,
he wasn't backing down, and he felt galvanized by that group. And so now over time Kawhi Leonard, he loves him. I mean every I've not met a single person who doesn't like a viza Zoobots, not just on this team, but on every team. You know, all of that Balkan Region basketball startop that's around the NBA. I remember they got they got dinner. I think it was either in the bubble or right after the bubble or around
that time. And all those guys like him, I mean some of them from nations that don't necessarily get along, and still he's well like Nicole Yokich is Serbian, the viz Zoobots his Croatian, and they get along because you can't dislike this guy. He's just one of those guys who he's lovable in so many ways. He's a kind soul. He works his tail off, does everything the right way, does whatever the team needs to try to win.
He's gonna play through pain. He's gonna just do anything because he's so happy and blessed to be here to do this and call this his his job. And he got to learn from his cousins. Or On Planinich, who played in the NBA many years ago for the New Jersey Nets big Z Baby Big can make it happen. Nice hair too. R J r J got him on the Dave Chappelle's Show pretty early. Okay, that's how that was how he learned English, So you can try to figure out what phrases he
knew. Greg, I'm rich, Greg, Newport Beach. You're on Clippers Talk with your voice and the Clippers and Noah Eagle and what's up? Salt the Egg? What's up? Noah Ego? What up? Listen? Fellas great win, meaningful win, Uh eleventh straight? Who owns La? Who
La R Way La R Way? Listen, uh Adam listen tomorrow. I'm gonna enjoy listening to Fred Rogan because we know Fred's a Laker homer on the Clippers station, talking non stop about the Lakers and giving the Clippers maybe three minutes when you there, I've actually booked for tomorrow, so maybe we'll play
your phone call. So good, good, Adam good, because listen today, Fred that he had the Lakers tonight, so this game was not only important for the Clippers, but I'm just gonna enjoy tomorrow listening to Fred Rady. I want to see what his excuse is gonna be tomorrow for the Clippers whooping the Lakers behind again tonight. Yeah, good night, bring the energy, let's go. I just hope Fred still shows up to work tomorrow after this phone calling. Oh he will, come on, come on now,
come on now, you gotta you gotta face the music. Fred has done it. Many's he faces the music. He knows he's directly pointed at the horns that are blowing towards him. He knows. Craig and Newport, what a call, Chris in La, you're odd Clippers. Stop with your voice of the Clippers. No Eagle, Hey, what's going on? So I'll be a little sporadic, but I'll try to be quick with my with my
thoughts. A couple of things. I just wanna say, shout out to Bones, Highland, Terrence Man. Terrence Mann reminds me of when we drafted Eric Bledsoe and then when we drafted Sga and Bones reminds me of Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams. We need to get that combination off the bench more and keep him in the game through the mistakes. I'm I'm just routing for this
team. Another thing is Marcus Morris. I know the whole situation, how everybody feels, but we got to get him back on the bench at least because he was our enforcer for a few years and just his vibe, his chemistry. We got great personalities and we just need to click on all forms and and and the last thing is I was nervous about tonight because it's been tough not having that killer instinct for the Clippers, and these last few games
have been rough. So being able to I know it's a back to back for the Lakers, but being able to have that killer instinct tonight, it just it gets me ready for the playoffs. I'm motivated, baby, I like that. I will say Marcus Morris was there today he was on the bench. He just wasn't suited up. He was inactive because of backspasms. But he was in the bill, which was good to see after he was
dealing with with COVID nineteen and in the health and safety protocols. So he is around the team, which is helpful and a good first step there. But yeah, I like the I like the mentality and the energy. This was a nice tune up in the sense of, Okay, can we put a team away, not just a team, but a team playing very good basketball, winners of four in a row to get three games over five hundred. Lakers hadn't been five hundred or better all of last season and you had
to dip back to the year before. That was just getting there was a big deal for them, but then getting over the hump, it felt like, oh, they've got some real momentum. So to put a team like that away, and you might say the back to back thing and whatnot, Well, guess what. Sacramento Kings came in on a back to back and won one seventy six, one seventy five and the second highest scoring game in NBA history earlier this year. That was the game after the All star break.
So I don't look at any team after a back to back anymore and just say it's a win or they're gonna be gas. Because the Kings didn't have They had plenty of gas in the tank. They could have gone a four overtimes. They didn't care. And no one has ever felt sorry for the Clippers when they were on the second end of a bat back and they had some tired legs out there. True Clippers win tonight one twenty five to one eighteen over the Lakers. Their next game is coming up on Saturday against
the Portland Trail Blazers. Noah, thanks for doing this to night on Clippers Talk. Great call as always, and maybe we could do this some more throughout the playoffs. I don't know. We'll playoffs time. Come on, let's get there first. Let's get the victory on Saturday. Come on, let's not. Let's not get to our ahead of ourselves right now. They put themselves in good position. But come playoff time, you need me around, I'll be there. Let's get the get the eagle symbol. It's like
the bat symbol, but it's an eagle in this guy. Well, that's not an eagle, all right, can't wait, can't wait? That is an Eagle. Well, take a quick time out eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. I'll come back here. We'll Updyke from cliffs and dip. We'll join us. More of your phone calls. Yeah, there we go. Sound effects from Zacho Caldy and the Philosopher is in the house. Tonight after the Clippers get their biggest victory over the Lakers Feeling good too

In contention, Clippers win tonight one twenty five to one eighteen over the Lakers and put themselves in a great spot where they're currently in the fifth seed in the West. They have the tiebreaker over the Golden State Warriors. They obviously have the tiebreaker over the Lakers. The Pelicans they do not. Pelicans though a game
back currently of the Clippers. They w earlier in overtime over the Memphis Grizzlies after they tried to give it away up six with eleven seconds left, and somehow that game went into overtime. But New Orleans prevailed and they're good and they just took down the Clippers on Saturday. But tonight the Clippers make it eleven straight victories over the Lakers. And during this eleven game win streak, this comes from our statisticians to the Stars, Dennis Degastino. Their average win
margin is eleven. They've had five ten plus point wins, two twenty plus point wins, four wire to wire wins over the Lakers. Then the Clippers led by ten plus in all eleven games during this winning streak. The biggest lead the Lakers have had in those eleven games, including tonight, has been six points. Clippers have absolutely dominated this matchup going back a decade now. Thirty six of the last forty three games have been won by your Los Angeles
Clippers. Let's hear from the head coach though, who was not lost to the Lakers as your coach of the Clippers into Ron Loop post game after this one. Now, you guys knew the magnitude of this game coming into it, obviously, I guess started the game, Uh pretty well. How were you able to kind of hold on wire to wire for this one? I thought our bench came in, Norman Bones, I came in and changed the pace and the tempo of the game. I thought, you know, Rus
did a good job getting started him and Eg. And then in that second half, I thought Bones and Norm came in and really gave us a lift. Didn't like how we finished it. You know, they was trying to knock Kawi draped all over and we got to do a better job getting open for one. You know, but if he doesn't, it makes an offense stagnant. And so just kind of you know, got lost, you know,
and then we had some turn over, some bad shots. Then Bron was able to you know kind of get down hill getting in transition, and then you know, to start a third quarter. I told him I'll let him know that Brown's gonna come out. You know, guns are blazing. You know, he only had three points, and he makes some hero shot, you know, one deep one from damn to a half court and then a couple of other touch shots to kind of get him going and get him
some momentum. But I liked, you know, finishing the game and just having our composure to build our lead back up to twenty. And you know, it was it was a good It was a good thing to see, you know, for our team to go through a little adversary through that game and then come back and still build a lead back up to twenty and win win a big game. A lot of uys were obviously on Russell for for
this one. I think he had ten points in the first quarter. For you guys, uh, he was taking a lot of n rhythm shots. Just where do you think of the control he had on this game and the starting up to you guys, get out now it it was huge for us. I think the start of the game, like I said, him and eg to start the game gave us, you know, some really good offensive confidence to start the game. And you know, Egs just you know, he tempted it out for us. He was you know, banged up,
but he wanted to be on the floor. He knew it was a big game, and so I try to arrest Eg as much as possible and got rust out early to bring him back for Kauhad. But then we went on a hell of a run and you know, went up twenty four, and we went up twenty and so like I said, I just you know, happy for Bones and know I'm coming off the bench and give us a huge spark and I was able to see the game. Those two have been magnificent
for the Clippers. Bones Highland and Terrence bent Man, that combination, it completely changes the complexion of who this team is. They play at a much slower pace, typically their bottom ten in that area. They've been there throughout the two on three era, they haven't had pop like this with Bones and Terrence Man out there over the last four seasons. Bones is just relentless getting into the paint. But he's not doing too much meaning just fallen in love
with his own shots. He's getting other guys involved, He's playing within the offense. And I thought Tonight's in his fourteen points on the fourth quarter to rise to the occasion against the Lakers in a big game like this, that was special growth for the young man in Bones Highland, who the Clippers picked up for just two second round picks. This is a guy that can be
the kind of spark that can win you a playoff game. Clippers still have two games left in the regular season Saturday against Portland's Sunday against the Phoenix Suns, but they are currently in that five spot behind the Suns. Can't catch them, but you gotta finish outside of the play in and tonight's victory over the Lakers goes a long way in favor of the Clippers being able to do
just that. Coming up next, while we'll updike On from Clips and Dip Clippers Wine one eighteen in the biggest game between the two teams in LA in their history. Can't overstate set it throughout the pregame, would have set it still if the Clippers had lost. So I'm gonna be fair and they want it, and I'm gonna tell you that this was the biggest game and remind you in the history of the Hallway regular season series. But this one more like a plan to stay out of the plan, much more like it.
I mean, it's uncanny. We'll Clipper Stock next and we'll Updyke from Clips and Dip here on a five seventy l A Sports. Clippers win one twenty five to one eighteen over the Lakers, here in downtown Los Angeles. It was the biggest game between the two ball clubs in their history. It's definitive, there's no doubt about it. They've never had a situation like this where you gotta win to trying to stay out of the play in tournament, and the Clippers got it in a game they led by twenty four, they win
one twenty five to one eighteen. Welcome back in This is Clipper Stock. I'm Adam Oslin. If you missed the show earlier, we had your voice of the Clippers on in Noah Eagle. That will all be podcasted about a half hour after we're done here. Before we get out, we got will Updyke from Clips and Dip Fame does the podcast with myself and Chuck Mockler. Now we're on YouTube. Check it out. We had some predictions for this one, Well, who was your player to watch? I had Norman Powell.
I felt pretty good about that. But I felt like we all had really good picks. Who was your surprise performer in this one, because chances are they performed. I did Bone Pilan. I was oh huge. I was really excited. This is this is an opportunity for him that he's never really had in a regular season game, and you know, with where the Nuggets were at last postseason, this is one of the bigger games. I
think that he's gotten the chance to actually show out. And not only did he step up to the moment, he got the pick to be in the closing lineup in this one. And I think that this goes into what was one of my favorite things of this win. And I just think that we
saw Tyler being a lot more malleable and adjustable with his mine up. I know there's some people who are probably still going to be critical of the Robert Covington DNP, but I gotta say I thought this was a very well coached game by Tie and I'd love the trust to go with bones late in this one. And I know the Lakers scored one hundred and eighteen, but I thought the defensive effort overall in the forty eight minutes was one of the best
we've seen from the Clippers all season long. When they would have these great starts to games at times, but then they would let up and they start playing last day days, it called defense, and they would let a team back into the ball game. And while the Lakers did fight down the stretch. In this one, the Clippers were good enough, and I thought it started on the defensive end. They were swarming. They looked like the team who has been top three in defense post All Star Break, not the Lakers.
No, absolutely, absolutely, And that's the thing. I just feel like that's gotta be the thing that's been so frustrating, you know, like, not even as someone who covers a team, but as a span it's just you get these games and I would say that this was probably three quarters probably of some of the best Clippers basketball we've seen, and we just know how much they're capable of even down guide even happen to like even with tight
rotations and down their their second best player, that kind of performances that we can get, and it's just it's just been so frustrating this season because it feels like we these have kind of been the diamond and the rough. These have not been the sort of assured performances that we thought we could get out
of this squad in year four. And I think that that's that's just the that's the overarching sort of story of this Clipper's season is it's been so difficult because at points it is so good and you can see it, and they look so dominant in some stretches, and then it just they just look like a completely different, completely different team. To be honest, at times,
I thought even Norman Powell had his best defensive game in the season. He was contesting everything, he was getting some stelc got couple of bad calls against him, but he had a block at the rim. I love the way he played. Everybody was playing defense. But when if Visa Zoobots is playing like that on both ends with his seventeen and thirteen and playing with force out there. This may have been Chuck's pick for surprise performer at the game.
Big Zoo I thought was the most important guy out there defensively, Oh absolutely, I mean he sets the tone on that end, I thought, you know, I also like that he fought through a couple of kind of rough calls, especially late in the game there when when he and Gabriel tackled him underneath the basket. Absolutely absolutely, And we I mean like it's the thing
though, right like we And it's not just the Clippers. Tons of teams can fall apart in those moments when things start to unravel a little bit but to see that composure was great. I mean, I believe this was why he's twenty six that will double the season. It's a season high or a career high for him in a season, and it just shows we you know, we talked about Zoo. I think the fan base sometimes goes up and down on him, but his incremental improvement every season has been completely undeniable.
And where he's at right now, I mean he could start for He could start for. I mean other than what like the Nuggets or the Sixers like that, there's not a whole lot of teams that if visa Zoo Bats could not be as starting center or have a strong argument to be a starting center on nearly any team in this league. And all I saw yesterday after that quote came out from coach Lou granted it was gamesmanship. He said he was
gonna have Zoo guardian Anthony Davis straight up. That didn't exactly happen. They collectively guarded him, but when Zubats was on him, he played well and he punished a d a couple of times. On the other end, Big Zoo was not barbecue chicken whatsoever, like everybody I saw on Twitter say was going to happen if it was just him locked up with Anthony Davis. No,
I love that too. I've kind of loved some of Tylo's coy things this season, but that quote goes up there for me because I love the way that they threw aggressive doubles and a bunch of different looks at Anthony Davis. And it's so funny because if you didn't, if you didn't catch the context from him actually saying that, and you just kind of read the quotes, you didn't miss a little bit of a little bit of the tongue in
cheapness there from Tid. Yeah, maybe some poker face, maybe shades of things to come from coach lu if the Clippers can get into a playoff series, and they are in great position to do so now, but him only playing Russell Westbrook five minutes in the second half, I thought that was very talent considering what this game means for Russ and he helped him get off to that great start where they were up twelve early in the first quarter, knocking
down Threes had ten of his fourteen in the first quarter, but early in the third, when the Lakers were pushing back, Coach Lou went back to the bench, went to Powell, went back to terrorist man bones Higland I think, came in late in the third quarter and played the entire fourth. This was a masterful performance from coach Low. Yeah, I think that that was you know, like I said at the time, that was one of the most encouraging things from this win, was just being willing to switch things
up. And you know, this is a team that had so many new faces post All Star Break. There's there's no reason to think that anything should be set in stone. But you know, Russ performing as well as he did early, which I think is great. really able to up the physicality of their defense as well. Clips had five turnovers early in that third quarter. I think he made the right move of of needing to switch something up and being aware of that and being able to change that. And I don't think the best thing any way, and indictment on Russ.
