Get your fall. It's time to react to LA Clippers basketball. This is Clippers Talk all the chat, reaction and analysis hosted by Adam Oslay. You know he's feeling good. Take the show with you anywhere you are and baby, get the podcast. I'm the iHeart Radio and now your host. He makes everything happen. Adam Mossley PG plays like an MVP and gives Clipper Nation

in early Christmas gift. They win one sixteen to one oh nine over the Los Angeles Lakers to open up a twenty twenty twenty twenty one NBA season. Welcome in to Clippers Talk. I'm at a Maslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Coming up on the show. We'll have far bought Essen Sharion from s I. You also hear from Paul George post game. I'm

leaf he talked with the guys from TNT. Hopefully it wasn't terrible, but it was good to see something that I've been thinking about all summer, well the last ninety eight days. I think it's been since the Clippers lost and collapsed in that three one lead they had against the Denver Nuggets in the second

round of the playoffs. But with the Paul George extension that just went down about a week and a half ago, where he signed through twenty twenty five, it could be with the Clippers. But this is someone who if he plays at an MVP level, I believe the Clippers could be the favorite once again here in the twenty twenty twenty one season. Because when he's hitting everything from the outside and getting to the basket and getting to the mid range,

he's unstoppable. He's in that six nine version of Steph Curry, and he was all that the end of the third quarter, when he had just taken six shots total in the first half. He was really picking his spots and getting comfortable out there and waiting for the game to come to him. Because all of a sudden at the end of the third quarter, Paul George took over the basketball game. The Clippers had led by twenty two or they had a twenty two point lead in the first and it looked like they were just

going to run away with this thing. And the Lakers were having ring fatigue or whatever you want to call it out there, and their ring ceremony night. But then all of a sudden, midway through the second and the Clippers had just scored two points, their offense went ice cold. They were one of thirteen in the first six minutes of the second quarter, and all of a sudden they were only up two at a half after being up by twenty

two. And then midway through the third quarter, Monstrez Harold gave the Lakers their first lead of the ball game. I believe it was seventy one to sixty nine. And then with two minutes left in the third, there was this huge momentum swing and it was all because of PG thirteen, who had ten points in the final one hundred and twenty seconds of the third and then the Clippers were up by eleven going into the fourth quarter. But he did

not stop there. He kept it going into the fourth. He had nine points in the first six minutes of the fourth and the Clippers were up by I want to say as many as seventeen in the fourth quarter. But think about that, Paul George went incendiary. He had nineteen points in the span of eight minutes. That's what he's capable of. He is, at his best, one of the most efficient players in this league, and has been

the last four seasons where he shot over forty percent from three. But the one thing, and he had a good year last year, it was in limited minutes though with the Clippers coming off the two shoulders injuries. The one thing though, that was missing from his game last season for whatever reason, maybe the injuries, was the mid range shot, and he torched the Lakers in the mid as well tonight. No matter who was on him, they tried everything. There was good defense, There was a hand in PG thirteen's

face. Didn't matter when a player like that gets hot and asserts themselves and looks like that version of PG thirteen we saw two years ago with the OKC Thunder when he finished third in MVP voting, when he finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting. This Clippers team, I believe, reaches a level that no one can match them at. Now it's game one of the regular season, and we know that the Los Angeles Lakers can play better than

that. So can the Clippers. Though Marcus Morris didn't even play in this game, and after getting off to that hot start where they scored thirty nine points in the first twelve minutes, the Clippers, it would take them twenty two minutes to get to thirty nine points after that, So the offense really stalled out. And this is their first game under Tyron lou who I love,

and this coaching staff that is deep. They have depth, and I think they already showed something that we didn't see a lot of last season. Going back to Game one against the Lakers last year, even though the Clippers won that game, I got calls on Clippers Talk that why are asking me as if I had the answers, why wasn't the Vita Zoobots playing more? Because it went back to the season before that, and people have been harping about this with getting on the former coach and Doc Rivers, who we do

love and thank for his time. Here is seven years with the Clippers, and I wish him the best moving forward with the Philadelphia seventy six ers unless

they're playing the Clippers. But of Vizza, Zubots ended up playing twenty seven minutes and came off the bench last season he was starting, and there was just one regular season game last season where Zubots played more than twenty seven minutes like he did tonight, and it was twenty eight, so he's already looking to be playing more minutes even though he's subbing in, and Sir Jibaka is the starter. And what I love about Tyron Lou is how innovative he is.

And if outside the box thinking is a cliche, now, I'm sorry I used it, because he is very creative offensively, and he is looking to find the right matchup and looking to find the right energy and spirit out there. And I think he found something with a Vizza Zubats defensively in the second half, and he left him in for a good chunk of minutes well into the fourth quarter. Eventually, Sir Jebaka came back in with about five minutes left in the fourth and well, he had a nice block at Blacka

showed up. You'll hear that call from Noah Eagle later in the show, but he made a big impact as well. He had fifteen points, so right at his average from last season with the Toronto Raptors, but on five of seven shooting, he had eight points in the first five minutes at Blacka. Did he did his thing. He looked comfortable early and it helps when you have a former teammate that's now a current teammate and Kawhi Leonard. They're

back together. The band is back together, and there's just something different about Kawhi Leonard's demeanor. We've seen it all through training camp and Tyron Lewis talked about how he's not just leading by example, he's leading vocally out there. And it's something that was a storyline or a narrative that came out of last season. Where was the leadership? Where was the chemistry and continuity? And guys have been talking about it a lot during training camp, which has only

been two weeks. It's a truncated precede as an abbreviated training camp and they went oh and three in the preseason the Clippers. Did they look like that tonight? Did they look like that team? They had told you already that we're better than how we've looked so far. But teams use the preseason for different things to work on, like playing a zone when you really haven't practiced it much. And they got lit up. And I'm guessing someone like Toron

lou is not going to show his full hand. It's gonna play his cards close to his chest during the preseason to not give the enemy, the opponents anything to work on going into Game one, and I thought from the outset scoring thirty nine points in that first quarter, it's like when an offense in the NFL has those scripted plays to start off an opening drive, and they look miraculous and they look like they won't be able to stopped, to be

stopped in the game. The same thing happened with the Clippers in the first quarter, where it looked like the team we could see more consistently later on in the season, where they were going off the game plan and the philosophies of Tehron lou which which are many, but some of his principles include, well, better ball movement. This was a team that was in the bottom ten last season the Clippers in assists per game, and they've stressed this during

training camp as well. In fact, Kawhi Leonard has said, we played too much iso ball last season. That's a leadership moment because a superstar saying that means I want the ball in my hands less. At times, you don't hear that a lot. That's how I translate that, because usually it's him or PG thirteen playing that isol ball, which they're great at. And obviously Kawhi Leonard, and he had a couple of his patent hit mid rage

turnaround Michael Jordan esque jumpers late in the game to seal it. But that's a big part of his arsenal offensively, and he is unstoppable in the mid range. He's the master of the mid range. But offense wasn't maximized consistently enough last season, and I think that's gonna change under Tyron Loeu and this coaching staff. And we got a glimpse of that tonight. Also because they

attempted forty three pointers. That's different we didn't see even though they had good three point shooters just like they do this season, last season, they didn't attempt that many very often. And let me give you the stat for why you should attempt more threes. And this is what has changed the game. It's the math. It's the analytics. Some people don't like them because they don't like doing math. I don't either, but I'm willing to accept it

because every guy in the front office now can do this stuff. It's where the NBA game has evolved. They've unlocked something because of mathematics. And this is it right here. When you shoot thirty three percent from three that's below league average, which is about thirty five thirty six percent. Thirty three percent from three equals fifty percent from two, So even when you're off, even if you're shooting a high volume amount of three pointers, they can still help

you. It's changed the game, and I think the Clippers going fourteen to forty it's just thirty five percent, but that was big. And it's also about the spacing and stretching the floor, which is something they can do much better now because of Sir Jebaca. They can play five out. That means they can have five shooters on the floor at once. We didn't get to see enough of that last season. And I love Monster Tress, but he's with the Lakers now. I could still root for him when he's not going

up against the Clippers. But I think part of the reason of beats the Zubots is playing more minutes is because Tress is no longer the guy coming off the bench, and Sir Jebacca, if he's that replacement for not only Tress but also losing Jamichael Green, he can be a huge upgrade for this team. And he only played twenty one minutes tonight and he's just getting accustomed to this team, just like a lot of the rest of the players are because

it's a very different offense. But when they needed buckets, they could get him with PG thirteen and Kawhi Leonard your superstars, And to me, the ceiling for the Clippers is dependent upon what we saw tonight, and it reaffirmed the fact that I truly believe if Paul George can play like this, can finish top five in MVP like he did a couple of seasons ago when he finished third. If he can play to this level, the Clippers can be

the best team in the NBA. They have to develop that continuity and consistency throughout the season, and then we got to see it in the playoffs. But PG thirteen, to me, is the difference maker because I know what I'm getting from Kawhi Leonard, I know what I'm getting from a lot of guys on this roster. But if he's healthy and he's looking this good and we've seen it, we saw it in Spurts last season. But I think because those shoulders have healed, this could be the new Paul George. He

could be even better than he was two years ago. With the OKAC thunder all right, Clippers win one sixteen to one o nine over the Lakers in Game one of the regular season. Coming up, you'll hear from Paul George. We'll also get you postgame audio from the new head coach, Toronto lou and we'll get to your phone calls here at eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. This is Clipper stock. I'm Adam Oslind and you're listening

to a M five seventy LA sports stagger. Paul George is the official home of your LA Clippers. Don't miss a moment of Clippers basketball all season long. Paul George had thirty three points on just eighteen shots, and the Clippers would win Game one of this regular season against Los Angeles Lakers with a final score of one sixteen to one oh nine. This is Clippers talk. I'm out of Moslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Eight

six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Someone else I have to mention here who provided a classic Whitlock, No classic Patrick Beverley like performance, because the numbers weren't huge even though he did have ten points, and he's not exactly known for his scoring. It's about the defense. It's about doing the little things, and the little things include four offensive rebounds.

He had six boards total that tied for the team lead tonight Patrick Beverly, and he had a couple of offensive rebounds late in the fourth quarter that were huge difference makers down the stretch when the Lakers were trying to get some extra possessions in there, it was Patrick Beverly extending possessions for the Clippers on offense where and though I think on one of them at least they didn't convert that extra opportunity, but it still ran the clock another twenty four seconds.

That's a big deal. Kawhi Leonard. By the way, it was ten of twenty six with twenty six points. Wasn't his best performance when he had to turn it on early in the third quarter. He had nine points coming out of the gate when the Clippers were only up by two, showing that

leadership that was leading by example. But then he also had a couple turnaround fadeaway jumpers late in the fourth quarter to put the game away after Paul George really asserted himself well and just showed exactly why the Clippers extended him four years for one hundred and ninety million PG. Thirteen At his best is that six nine Steph Curry. He was five of eight from distance. I wouldn't mind if he took a couple more three pointers in the game. Tajis in Walnut

tags. You're on clipper stock with Adam Oslin. How are you quote? What's up? Hey, Adam. Good to be calling in and hear you again. I was. He talked about a lot of the things that about Tarron Lou about him wanting a great ball movement, and I think we saw that already today. That was good to see. And I want to talk

about the two signings of Bacca and Luke Kennard. I think that with Bacca we get that stretch five, and not only I think that's part of the reason why he decided to start him over Zoo back, because maybe it'll give Kawai and PG some more room to operate without and they could drive without the

pain getting clogged. And not to say that Zubak won't play more, but I think it's just, you know, a different look for opposing teams and with It's kind of crazy to think that the starting five of the Clippers are. They all can shoot the three, and not only on the office end, but the defensive end. They'll they'll be one of the best defensive starting lineups as well. So when you have offense and defense, it looks pretty amazing right now. And Luke Kennard, I think I think that last year.

For the past few years, lou Williams has had a lot of pressure to create off the bench and being the one pretty much players who's had to create has been putting a lot of pressure on him. I think Luke will kind of take some of that pressure off and you'll see it more as a season progresses. You'll see more of his playmaking skills, and I think you saw a little bit today. He was a little tentative, but you'll see a lot more coming from him the pages the season progresses. And good calling

in again at him and good good hearing from you guys. Good to hear from you, two tages. Happy holidays. We'll talk to you all season long. Heron Clippers stock tags is a regular Luke Kannard just four points, two of six shooting, seemed a little bit hesitant offensively and had some good looks that just didn't fall for him an open three point late in the game. That was a nice pass at the end of the third quarter that just

didn't fall. But he's a sharp shooter from the outside. If you don't know that, he was basically a fifty forty ninety guy last season, what does that mean? He shot fifty percent from the field, forty percent from three, ninety percent from the free throw line. But as tags just brought up there, his passing, his playmaking made me more valuable than anything else he brings offensively because it's so needed on this Clippers team without that traditional prototypical

point guard. Now, he had just two assists in this game, but somebody else who has averaged over five assists at six nine and he's done it four times in his career. Nicholas Patum played twenty eight minutes, had just three points it was a three pointer, but had six assists in the ball game. He led the Clippers and assists. They had twenty two on forty

four Maids shots, so half of their shots were assisted. That's only going to get better until the ball movement in the opening quarter, right out of the gate, where you have that game plan going in. They executed that to perfection. That's how they got up by twenty two points early on. It was the ball movement. They still had sixteen turnovers, you want to get that down, but the Lakers had nineteen in the ball game. Morris in Long Beach, Morris here on Clippers style without aim as a revenge to

it. It reminds me of you remember back in the day when Philadelphia was up to love on Portland, Okay, and they lost that threies four two, and doctor Doctor J told the people of the fans, told the fans in Philadelphia, we owe you one. And I believe that's what the Clippers feel right now. I believe they feel they old the fans of LA you know, a little bit better performance and what we've gotten here historically. And I'm gonna be honest with you, Adam, I didn't expect the Clipper was

to win to night. I just didn't expect him to win. The Lakers just won the World Championship. They got them big old giant diamond rings, and the Clippers didn't have a good preseason, so none of us knew what to expect. And then the next thing you know, we're watching the game and they doubling them up and when the lake was made a run Tlippers didn't get good. Just just dig your own little thing. Win the game. I wasn't pressed because I didn't expect him to win. So we'll see what

happens. But I like to pick up Surgibaka because in the NBA you need some big bodies. You need some big bodies, and I like him always have Okay, Adam, stay bless and stay healthy. Talk to you lady. We like you, Morris and your phone calls here on Clippers Talk. Yeah, a lot was made of them going oh and three in the preseason, but normally what happens in the preseason stays there. Something that didn't was

Sweet Lou Williams, who still looks hot from the field. I know he was just four of nine, but two of four from distance had eleven points. I believe in the three preseason games he was twelve of fourteen from the floor, So that early hot shooting from Sweet Loew Williams could be something to

watch here. And somebody else who is notorious for getting off to slow starts from beyond the yark is Patrick Beverly, who look from December on last season he shot forty six percent from three The problem was before that he was shooting about twenty percent. Now he still ended up around thirty nine percent on the season, But imagine if he gets off to a hot start and continues that throughout the season and he was two of five from distance. Two of his

four point makes were three pointers. Bill in Irvine, Bill, what's up? You're on Clippers side without of Oslin. How's it going? Good to have you on? Bill? What's up are you doing? Everything's a good Bill? Clippers win one sixteen, one on nine over the Lakers. What do you think? Oh? Bill? All right, we'll try to reconnect with Bill and Irvine coming up. By the way, you will hear from

PG thirteen Paul George and your player of the game. Twenty six of his thirty three points came in the second half, but it was that eight minutes stretched from the end of the third carrying over into the fourth quarter, where he scored nineteen points. That was everything for the Clippers, because after being up by twenty two early, it turned into a game where the Lakers were

up midway through the third and they were feeling good about themselves. These are the type of games you want to win, though, because you want to win every game, the style of win, the type of win. This was for the Clippers because they had to face adversity. Even though they were up twenty two points in the first quarter, they were eventually down in the third. And I'm sure that could present some doubt that could set in at

some point, but Paul George rose to the occasion. Bill, let's try it again, Bill and Irvine, you're on Clippers Talk, guys, hear me, now we hear your bill. Go ahead, dear lord, Bill dropped. Why you gotta be the grinch here? Bill eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. The Clippers were the grinch on ring ceremony night for the Los Angeles Lakers. They played spoiler coming back here on Clippers Talk.

You will hear from Paul George. He had thirty three points in the victory opening night in the NBA season, just two games tonight, the Clippers were the nightcap. Just like last season, they beat the Lakers opening night, Lakers with the champs. You gotta give him that. They pulled it out in Orlando, but it's a new season. Tyron Loose said that earlier today they get their rings, but then as soon as the ball goes up. It's a new year, it's a new season, and the Clippers have

a new coaching staff and a few really important players that they added. All right, more Clippers saw coming up eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. I'm out of Moslins and this is AM five seventy LA Sports. What is every moment all season long on their officials? Why letters sends it back home? But the Clippers still not come in here? I don't know.

The left wing with about bass to Nick Quittum just outside the yard, puts down with the right hand, feats George catching shoot right wing three, it's on the way. Oh he got it again. Counting in a foul PG thirteen a chance for a thirty spot on opening night, and Paul George would deliver with thirty three points, twenty six of those in the second half. Kawhi had twenty six so PG thirteen and Kawhi the two one three connection

they combined for fifty nine points. Lebron James just twenty two points on seven of seventeen shooting. Last season in four matchups with your Los Angeles Clippers, Lebron shot under forty percent. Anthony Davis in this game, just eighteen points in thirty one minutes on eight of fifteen shooting. I want to say all eight of those makes by him, though we're in the mid range, which is something he really showed off at a high efficiency rate once he got in

the bubble. But the Clippers win game one of the start of this new regular season one sixteen to one oh nine over the Lakers eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Is the phone number before we go to Paul George postgame? Oh, it's Jeff and Tarzana. Jeff, how are you, Jeffrey? Maybe it wasn't

Bill. We'll fix the phone lines while we get to that. Though, Paul George was on TNT post game after his thirty three point performance, and here he was talking with the TNT crew PG thanks a lot for joining us. Tell me about the v and floor of this game for you. A seven point first half and then twenty six in the second half. I just allowed the game to come to me. I thought I put a lot of just pressure on myself to score. I got into a good rhythm of making

plays for the team. That's how I played. That's how I catch fire. I let the game come to me. I took the shots when they were available, and I didn't press. I thought that was the biggest thing. I didn't press for shots. Oh, we know what you did last year. We're not gonna talk about last year. But you know, we think you could have played better. But you started out of the season from thirty three points. You think you can keep this going. I think you

can keep this going all year. Uh yeah, I mean, you know, one of your biggest supporters. Thirty three is easy for you. I think you can do this every night. This is man, y'all. Y'all don't know man coming off to show the surgeries ain't easy. I'm two years removed. I had a heck of an off season coming into this year where I was able to train and get back on the floor and play basketball coming

into the season. So I'm just in a good headspace. I'm in a good physical space, you know, and I put a lot of work coming into this year. You know, Paul, I hate when guys come out and talk about double standards for players when when they get traded and things like that. Do you think there was a disconnect with the preferential treatment for you in Kauhi last year. That was the rumors. We don't know what's true, but with a lot of stuff said that you guys got preferential treatment.

Was that Was that true or not true? I mean, as you know, Charles, the dudes that put in the work, that built themselves up to be where they yet it's a reason they get to that level. They know what they need and they know what makes them play at a high level. So whoever that offends, you know, we ain't have that issue right now in this locker room. So yeah, before my question, because I've been the other guy, like, if you have a problem with somebody getting

preferencial cheatment, then just put more working. I mean, that's the NBA. It's not college, it's not high guys. Do get prefer We'll talk about it because it works both ways. Because you have the article about James Harden correct, Yeah, but you get preferential treat Yeah, but you don't get to abuse it. But you have to be all get well, it'll get which about these foods. But honestly that that's that's comical to me to hear that. If I was on the Paul team, I would feel upset.

But anyway, I think one thing that you have to concentrate. You said you let the game comes to come to you. I think you know this is a this is a question and a comment. I think at times you shouldn't let the game come team. I think that you're good enough player. Do you think at times that's happens when you guys get stagnant last year, that you were letting it come to you? So I think that you

have to find a happy medium between the two. Oh. I mean, well, when I say that, I don't mean that I'm not gonna be aggressive. I'm talking about aggressive to shoot the ball. I'm gonna be aggressive to make plays. As I tried to get my teammate shots getting into paint, I was aggressive trying to get into pink make plays. But I'm not gonna be out here just trying to jack up shots just because I'm Paul George

on the floor, you know what I mean. I'm gonna use I'm gonna get myself up on plays to try to create double teams, try to create rotations and play from there. And if I got one on one situations, I'm gonna take them an efficient thirty three point night, thirteen out of eighteen, five out of eight from deep, and a win over the Lakers on ring night. Paul George thanks a lot for joining us. We appreciate you.

Appreciate you, guys. Thug you. There was PG thirteen courtesy of T and T Sports in talking about him not pressing and letting the game come to him, I said that in the first segment, that's what it looked like because he only attempted six shots in the first half. Second half twelve shots. I think he made all but one of them. That's how hot he got. And it was during that eight minute stretch where he had nineteen points where the game really turned back in the clippers favor after they were up

by as many as twenty two early on. But as they always say, it's a game of runs. I didn't feel like that anyone should get comfortable yet it's too early. When you're up twenty in the first quarter, that's meaningless to me. But the Clippers come through late, they hit the big shots, they kept the Lakers within arm's length and at bay, and they would go on to win one sixteen to one zero nine. Not b Ae either, coming up next We'll talk about Friday's game on Christmas Day as the

revenge tour continues. Who's up next? Oh? The Denver Nuggets. Yes, the team the Clippers loss of three one lead against in Denver. The Clippers are taking on Yokich and Michael Porter Jr. Jamal Murray. I wonder if he can translate some of that hot shooting from the bubble to the regular, more regular NBA season. Although they are in that thin air, that's an advantage too. They're good at home, but the Clippers looked real good

when it mattered most. They're one and all on the season. More Clipper stock coming up next, We'll try Jeff and Tarzana again. We got to test this stuff out. Is our first Clipper Stalk show. Is it working, Bob are? We're ready? More Clippers Stalk next. I'm out of Oslin and this is a five seventy LA Sports Nagger Paul George. This is the official home of your LA Clippers. Don't miss a moment of Clippers basketball

all season long. Tapped for letter, drive down the right alley, spins against Caruso, gets in the land, puts it in cutting in a foul Kawhi Leonard with a lefty delivery, pooping harp for number two and the claw in double figures. We'll go to the line for one more Kawhi. Leonard was physical. He had twenty six points on ten of twenty six shooting, but he was moving bodies out of the way. We all thought was some of those early pictures that surfaced at a training camp that he put on five

pounds ten pounds of muscle and it showed he was moving guys. This is Clippers stock. I Metam Moslin. They win one sixteen to one oh nine over the Los Angeles Lakers. And right now before we get back to the phone, calls eight six six ninety seven two five seventy across your fingers, I believe we had far bod essence Sharia on from SI. He's one of my favorites. Every pre and posts game post he puts up, I have

to read it far bought. Can you hear me, my friend? Your voice got really really far away for some reason, it was perfectly fine like three seconds ago. How about now? Can you hear me now? The

same thing? But I'll do my best. Well, I'm just gonna scream and sound like a bigger idiot than usual here, far Bod, But the Clippers were more than Kojin in this game, especially early on they had that twenty two point lead, and to me, the fact that they had to face adversity, the fact that they were down in the third quarter, makes

this an even better win. In game one, yeah, I mean it was funny this this game moments had the potential for huge disaster to you know, Paul George throws the ball at the referee, they have a twenty two point lead, all of a sudden it's gone, and it's almost like we have shade the last year. And then it's something Kauai mentioned postgame where he just kept saying he liked that the team kept playing the right way the whole time and that they stayed positive. He liked that more than the win.

So I think that is something everybody can kind of look at that this team has that in them as opposed to possibly last year. Is this game kind of a microcosm of how the Clippers have to eventually win in the playoffs, where you get performances like this out of Paul George consistently, Because to me, if he plays at this MVP level next to Kawhi Leonard. They're right there as maybe the toughest team to beat in the NBA. Yeah, you

know, it's interesting. I asked Kawai about, you know, Paul George being a leader, and he kind of showed a little bit more emotion in the answer than I thought, and he said, just because Paul George made shots doesn't mean that he's a leader. It's it's all the other things. Like, it's the communication, and it's the communication of making Kawai's life easier. And that's a PG tonight, whether or not he makes shots or doesn't, And I think him making those shots is a result of that communication.

It's far bought essence. Shari joining me here on Clippers talk after they win one sixteen to one O nine in Game one of the regular season over the Los Angeles Lakers. Far bought. I thought. One of the more interesting wrinkles we saw right off the bat from a Tyron lou coach Clippers team was a Vizza Zubots playing twenty seven minutes while coming off the bench. There was only one time in the regular season all of last year where Vizza Zubots played

more than twenty seven minutes of the game. Helu Tylou was at that postcape and he said Zoo had earned those minutes to play in the fourth quarter. And I think every Clipper fan probably had a huge sigh of relief when they heard that, because everybody's been wanting to have Zoo play fourth quarter minutes. Sir Gebaka who got the start with the Clippers, and that was somewhat of a surprise for a lot of people that he was going to be the starting

center. He played less minutes twenty one, still got in the game late and was effective out there, fifteen points on just seven shots. Were you surprised at all that he fit in this seemingly in game one when he didn't even play the last preseason game. You know, it just seems like Surge is a smart player too. Kauh I asked for smart players. He wanted more more IQ and I think he got that in both Batomb and Surge. And when you're a high IQ player, you can figure out a way to

make yourself fit no matter what. And I think it's it's something you see with Lebron James too. Anywhere he goes. He figures out a way to make everybody fit better and it's it's just something players with high bass like you are able to do, and I think that something Surge is able to do a lot more seamlessly. I thought Luke Kannard looked a little bit tentative offensively, took just six shots in twenty one minutes, had four points, still

had a nice pass down low to a Vita Zoobots. But in terms of where this Clipper team wants to go, how critical is he now on this roster? Also with a contract extension, I mean he's replaced the Landry Shammitt role as the X factor. So I think Luke is going to be a big deal on certain games where guys are cold. But right now, you know PGN Quiet did really well, Sergey bucketted well, so Luke Luke kind of got saved to by Lou Williams because lu turned it up pretty well tonight.

So I think with Luke it's you're gonna have to be a little bit patient. He was really, really, really tentative. But at the same time you have to remember, you know, he hasn't played a game in a very very long time, so you just have to give him a little bit more patience. One of their other new guys. The last guy to join the team during free agency after he was waived by the Charlotte Hornets was Nicholas Batoum. He started as he had been in the preseason without Marcus Morris,

and he led them with six assists. How does he look to you? At his age? He's had a lot of my on him, but he only played it in twenty two games last season. Is it not conceivable that he could be a little bit rejuvenated out there? You know, it was funny, I said on the podcast yesterday, but two my felt like fans are going to be one way or another with him because he was replacing Marcus Morris. And it was either fans are going to be very pleased with

him and his decision making or they were going to be incredibly upset. And he showed today even if he's not, you know, making a bunch of shots, he makes smart plays. I think he wanted this spot so badly, and he wasn't in an enviable spot tonight. He kept having a guard Anthony Davis one on one. I mean he left Charlotte and at the guard Anthony Davis one on one the very first game with the Clippers. So it's

that was a tough ask for him today. Welcome to the Clippers. Go guard Anthony Davis shut him down, and Ad did just have eighteen points after he had thirty five in that final preseason game, went eight of fifteen from the field.
