Today on the Clever Angle we are continuing the mini series on raising black voices during the national Black Lives Matter movement. I sit down with lifelong friend, Jalynn Mitchell, as we discuss interracial relationships and what that has been like for black men in the South. The purpose of this mini series is to share black experiences particularly based in Arkansas, USA in order to continue educating listeners on the continued effects of slavery and racism on black Americans even today. Our guest, Jalynn Mitchell, and our host, Tevin McGee, are both black men married to white women which opens a whole new world of conversation, experience, and ultimately biases that still affect people of color and urge change. We encourage you as a listener to keep an open mind and listen to voices that are often silenced. Voicing the silence is about empowering voices and demanding change- asking our friends and family to consider how systemic racism impacts individuals (your friends of color, family members of color, church members of color, coworkers of color, neighbors of color) in their daily lives.

Topics include:

  • Interracial relationships- overcoming struggles
  • Raising biracial children
  • Prejudices in the community (and family)
  • Friends and family
  • Dating/Marrying "outside of your race"
  • and so much more.

Our hope is to spur empathy and to know that love is greater than hate.

This mini series is currently a break in our normal episodes sharing about career pursuits as we recognize the urgency and power of raising voices for justice during this time. Thank you for listening and understanding. The end date of the mini series is to be determined. We will continue speaking as the need arises. If you think you have a clever angle or perspective on this movement and these urgent matters- reach out about how your story can be featured on the show.

For more resources on interracial relationships- we encourage to check out my wife's blog. She has articles speaking about more of these topics that can hopefully encourage you and continue to educate. Check it out at
