Episode description

Tomás Luis de Victoria’s requiem mass for six voices, written in 1603 and published in 1605, is an absolute masterpiece from the Renaissance Period. It is one of a handful of large-scale works that enjoy mainstream appeal in the 21st century. For many, it represents what Renaissance polyphony is, what it sounds and feels like, and how expressive it can be. This work is heard best in a darkened room while you relax and let the music flow over and through you. This performance is by the CMD Grand Opera Company of Barcelona Chorus and is produced and conducted by Joana Filipe Martinez.
