As Christians we approach God with confidence; not based on our loveliness, but our lovedness. In his first letter, John shows us that because of what Jesus has done, our sins are forgiven, we know God as our loving father, and we have overcome the evil one! He also writes about the tactics used by the evil one to draw our focus and affection away from God, and onto the things of the world.
