What if the heart of Christianity was not about striving, but about freedom? This week in Galatians, Paul is going to challenge the believers in Galatia and us to rethink what true freedom means. Christ sets us free, not just from sin, but from the pressure to prove ourselves by keeping religious rules or living up to others' expectations. We're not meant to return to old chains of performance or comparison, but to stand firm in the freedom Jesus has given us. The heartbeat of Church on the Rock...

[Wasilla] Unhinged |5| "Rinse & Repeat" :: Jonas Mackey
A friend was just telling me about having several family members visiting here in AK for the summer. He purchased one of those enormous water floats designed for tons of people so they could enjoy it during their stay. Towards the end of summer, the float developed a small leak but made it through their visit. Even though they had used it all summer long, the store they bought it from had a return policy stating they could still bring the float back if it was faulty, so they did. In telling me a...
[Wasilla] Unhinged |4| "Forever Family" :: Jonathan Walker
Let's be real, nothing has shifted my understanding of God's love like stepping into foster care and adoption. It took me out of my comfort zone and showed me what it really means to love like the Father. And here's the crazy part: According to Galatians 4:4-5 that's exactly what God did for us. He didn't just rescue me. He adopted me. Gave me His name. Brought me home. I didn't earn it. I couldn't deserve it. But now, because of Jesus, I'm not just forgiven... I'm family. This week in Unhinged,...

[Palmer] Unhinged |4| "No Longer Slaves" :: Josh O'Donnell
[Wasilla] Unhinged |3| "Alluring & Appalling" :: Jonathan Walker
I saw a reel on Instagram recently (don't judge me) of a sheep being rescued from a ditch it had gotten stuck in. With great effort and intention, the farmer pulled it out only to watch it leap a few yards further down the row and jump right back into the same ditch! Although it is a rather funny video, it is also a vivid picture of the ways in which we get ourselves back into trouble spiritually only moments after being rescued by Jesus. This week in our "Unhinged" series, we will discover that...

[Wasilla] Unhinged |2| "Calling vs. Confirmation" :: Jonathan Walker
As the theologian Alistair Begg once said, "As a result of grace, we have been saved from sin's penalty. One day we will be saved from sin's presence. In the meantime we are being saved from sin's power." This week we will unpack Paul's retelling of his own radical story of transformation and we will be left with a question that has been haunting me all week! The heartbeat of Church on the Rock is to help people discover how they can LOVE God and LOVE one another, LIVE with passion, purpose and ...

In a world filled with competing messages and distractions, the book of Galatians lays out the importance of staying true to the grace of Christ. This week, we will explore Paul's urgent reminder that there is only one true Gospel-one that liberates and transforms. We can't wait to dive into this together! The heartbeat of Church on the Rock is to help people discover how they can LOVE God and LOVE one another, LIVE with passion, purpose and freedom, and LEAD others to this same experience in Je...

[Willow] James: Dot to Dot |3| "Let Go and Let's Go" :: Jonathan Aho
[Wasilla] James: Dot to Dot |3| "All Rise..." :: Jonathan Walker
Buckle up my friends! This week we are diving into James chapter five and he ain’t messing around anymore. He has some very specific thoughts about the rich, and specifically about how the rich have treated the less fortunate. But before you begin to think about how happy you might feel about the wealthy being “called out”, it might be worth considering how they got into the predicament they find themselves in. It also might be worth considering how I can avoid getting into the very same mindset...

[Wasilla] James: Dot to Dot |2| "All Up In Your Business" :: Paul Sliwa
Have you ever had someone "all up in your business?" Someone who inserted themselves into your personal affairs, was attempting to make decisions for you, or tried to offer unwanted advice? This is a little bit how the book of James feels when reading it. James seems to be getting all up in our spiritual lives by challenging, and making us take a good hard look at how genuine faith should produce genuine fruit in the life of every believer! The heartbeat of Church on the Rock is to help people d...
