Episode description

On this week's episode Joe and Tim discuss day 3 of creation recorded in Genesis 1:9-13. They review the fourfold creation pattern: command, divide, name, and evaluate and note that the pattern continues here. They discuss the purpose of creation on the third day: making a place that is both useful for man and glorifying to God. They discuss the two categories of plants recorded as being created on day three: seed-bearing plants (grains and grasses) and fruit-bearing trees, noting that these are the foundational categories for the worship of God; without them, you can't get bread and wine which are both a part of the Old Testament sacrificial system and communion in the New Testament. They conclude the podcast with a brief discussion on the polemic aspects of Genesis 1, while it was likely written as a polemic against ancient near east mythologies, it also functions as a polemic against evolution.
