Everything Changed: The Power of the Resurrection
Episode description
Everything changed with Jesus.
In this sermon, Pastor Jerimy Kanaday continues our Everything Changed series with an unpacking of the story of the paralytic and shares the four influences in both this story and all of our stories.
Luke 5:17-26
The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is all about encounters with a person - Jesus!
The Four Influences In This Story and All Our Stories:
- Need - the pain points in our lives
- Religion - the spiritual malpractice
- Friends - the people who have faith for us
- Jesus - the one better than we could imagine
The greatest motivator for change can be our pain.
Sometimes we confuse our needs with our excuses and our pain can dull the sword of our expectation.
Religion positions us close to Jesus but only a relationship provokes an encounter with Him.
Characteristics of True Faith:
- Risk - up on the roof
- Resolute - finding no way to bring him in
- Disruptive - let him down with his bed through the tiles
- Action - he SAW their faith
Does the friendship you offer and pursue prioritize true faith?
Jesus is a both/and healer.
Our vision of the Kingdom of God must include the power of the resurrection personally invading our lives so that the things that we used to lie lame upon become the very things that we carry in our arms as we run home toward others.
Who are you bringing to Jesus on Easter weekend?
