There was once an old carpenter named James who had spent his life building beautiful houses .
He was known for his skill and his attention to detail , but as he got older he decided it was time to retire . His boss asked him to build just one last home before leaving . Tired and ready to be done , james didn't put in his usual effort . He used cheap materials , rushed the work and didn't pay attention to the details .
When the house was finished , it looked fine on the outside , but James knew it wasn't his best work . On the last day , the boss said I have a surprise for you , james , and handed James the keys and said this house is my gift to you . Thank you for all your hard work . James was shocked .
If he had known he was building his own home , he would have done everything differently . He realized that every job he had done was a reflection of him , and this time he had signed his work with carelessness instead of integrity .
