Blackhawks Centennial Profile: Jonathan Toews

As we, at WGN Radio, prepare to welcome the Chicago Blackhawks into the “Century Club,” we are celebrating Chicago’s Original 6 hockey organization by highlighting over 100 players, coaches, executives, broadcasters and personalities that have been a part of Blackhawks’ 100-year history. To kickoff our Blackhawks Centennial Profile Series, we start with “The Captain”…

He was known as “Captain Serious,” and from the day Jonathan Toews made his Blackhawks debut in 2007, he was serious about winning.  He scored a goal on his first NHL shot, then on to lead the Blackhawks to 3 Stanley Cups, and won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in that first cup run in 2010. Over 15 seasons as a Blackhawk, he played in almost 1,100 games, ranking in the top ten in games, goals, points and assists. Only Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita had more than Toews’ 69 game-winning goals.  He’ll resume his career this season with his hometown Winnipeg Jets.
