Philippians 1:1-11 The Apostle Paul was writing the book of Philippians while he was in prison. Despite being in prison, one of the major themes of the book is joy. Joy is rooted in fellowship with Christ, not the circumstances of life. The church in Philippi stood together with joy in Christ and ignited a mission for the gospel that spread across Europe.
