05 The Goblin Who Thought He Was a Dragon

That is a magic item. That's right. Thank you. That we would know it when we saw it.

I tried to get more information, but it was not in the dice. And Flora pretended she wasn't interested, but she really did want to see that map. What map? That the new mayor had to show us where to go. Yeah, and so the way I described it, There was a small, known-sized tunnel that came in, comes in over the stream that is a few in less deep.

You guys entered the bigger room that has about a foot-deep area of water near the sloped wall with a tunnel hole at the top of the sloped wall, an alcove to the left, and a step path toward the right. The party can't quite see down yet, and you guys were headed toward the alcove. Do you have anything else to add, Becca? I mean, I have like the general thing that we were again, like listening to conversation around and about the earlier stuff versus like where we ended.

So about the fact that we've gone to the tavern once again, we played cards. No one seemed to be upset about the election and how it went. Reports of goblins who had warnings to watch your eggs with them were in the area. Ristiro playing music in the cavern, playing a turtle shell for the lyre, We let her home for the evening. We woke up with our family. And then that's when we went back to town the next day and went to go visit Raspira and found out about going to the cave for her.

Oh, she also gave us all, like, each household a bag full. Yes, that's right. Yep. I just seemed to have blazed over that part of my notes. And none of us knew, but it was. Her parents did, though. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So you guys were heading towards the alcove. Yeah, because we wanted to investigate what was in the room before we tried to go out of the room. Okay, so you guys head towards the alcove? Mm-hmm. Any, like, anything specific? Are you looking for things or, like, what's going on?

You see an abandoned bedroll and like a some scrawling, scrawling, scrawling before like writing on the wall. Scrawling would be like if it's like an A as if they kind of scribbled it. Yeah. Yeah. So like you see scrawling on the wall that says let me see what it did say. It says the green dragon is not a dragon. I'm going to point to it and be like, have you guys heard about this green dragon? Did you know there were any dragons in the area? Except apparently it's not a dragon.

Listen, my parents told me to stay away from drugs. Drugs. Green dragon is not a dragon? Tell me that doesn't sound like a drug. They do call it like chasing the dragon or something, don't they? Yeah. So your parents told you don't go chasing the dragon. Yeah. Well, I guess, do we keep our eyes open in case there's a green dragon? In this room like not in this room steps leading out of the room no no this was it was just an alcove, you went over to an alcove yeah okay that is it that's all that's in here so is it steps and then tunnel or is it like steps and then time so when you came in the original tunnel the original over the stream you're standing on like a very small pond right and in front of you is like a sloped wall that is like cavern cavern rock like mineral mineral and slippery right and above that at the top

of that is a little pump okay over to the right is like steps like s-t-e-p-p-e-s, oh like platforms yeah like part of the cave formation yeah i would like to go that direction and just check it out. And the direction you guys went was to the left, which is the alcove. Okay, so it was steps. No. Alcove, puddle, steps. I'm going to breeze right past the steps. And go to the steps. Okay. Anything cool here? You start to enter the steps. Wait, are these like large? Is it a large area?

It's all in the same room, you said. it's like maybe 30 feet across oh okay yeah it's coming off of a large room and it's going more smaller more not quite tunnel-like still kind of open but it's steps, yeah that's where i'm going steppies we'll call them steppies so everybody knows the spelling no we're not going to call them steppies but they're steps Or pee-pee. Before so it's almost like from the big room it kind of narrows down to 30 feet wide maybe 20 feet 25 feet tall and it goes like that for a little bit and then it looks like it opens up more, maybe like 40 50 feet so comes in kind of like yeah and then opens up it looks like it opens up wider ahead but you can you're not quite there and you are standing in compression press.

Compression press i think you really failed by missing that name so yeah it's compress and press right you are standing in some sticky dark stuff do you have dark reading yeah okay you're standing in sticky dark stuff. And I'm just going to kind of like pick up one foot and go, gross. Very sticky. I'm going to step back toward the rest of the group. Okay. Roll. I'm going to say dex. Give me a dex. Save. Save? Save? And on the cave floor, the slippery cave floor, it has worsened it, right? It's like, if you have, like, gluey-type, sticky glue-type stuff, and you put it on a wet, sticky surface, it, like... Just kind of covers your stuff and doesn't really attach to the sticky stuff or the slippery stuff.

And so it probably took away the traction that you wore that. Oh, good. And so now you're... A little bit, a little bit, but you seem to stay up. I'm gonna hold popcorn a little tighter and kind of like scuff my shoes along the floor and see if I can wipe it off. Okay, give me a scuff check. It's gonna be a straight D20. If I say a check, that doesn't exist it's just a straight roll that's a 10.

Okay you get a good amount of it off okay like when you step in mud or poop i got you got most of it off great poop but it's still on the sides of your shoes i'm gonna be focused on getting like wiping it off of my shoes like wiping my feet against the floor for a couple minutes here you can get like a rock and like rounded up the sides. I was thinking just like scraping my foot along the wall. Okay. So as you're doing that, your party is coming around, kind of entering

the step area. Watch your step. Oh, we miss it? If you didn't pass where she's standing or where she's scraping her feet off, then no, you haven't missed it yet because she backed up. I just kind of hold up my boot and point with my free hand. Yeah. Maybe there were worse things than dragons. You think I'm worse than a

And then it like hackle, ridge to hackle, down his tail. You know that tail, it's a big tail.

And like... A green dragon, huh? Yeah, and he's got like some fake horns. Yeah, I'm saying that out loud. It's a green dragon, huh? Yeah. I hear that, so I go over to her as carefully as I can to see what she's seeing. Okay, your feet are also covered in tar, then? Yeah. Okay. And your speed is half. Okay. Okay. Only while walking through that, or while there's tar on the feet? While there's tar on the feet. Okay, that's not ideal. Okay. And the dragon roars at you again.

We could always just try to ask and see if they'd be willing to relocate. I mean, I think that's a good place to start. There's no point in harming them. They're just creatures. There's nothing about harming them. You're just supposed to scare them away. That's what the dragon wanted. No, no, no. The dragon just wanted them to be relocated. Yeah, it felt like there were quotes around that. Let's not harm the pixies. Yeah, I'd rather not harm the pixies.

Alright, so onward, I guess. Okay. So you come up to the... I believe TAR is hydrophobic, right? I don't actually know that much about TAR, but that would make sense. I think it's hydrophobic. So even in this water that's about a foot deep, it is still sticking to your feet. And so you two are moving slowly, and Merinweather is moving at a normal pace. You guys are heading back toward the slope where the tunnel is at the top of said slope.

Mm-hmm who's in front well probably me since i moved the quickest that's fair, i guess i'm gonna try to climb this okay give me uh, uh let it at disadvantage well you get a few feet up and then kind of slide right back down. Yeah. It just barely seems to slip on the top of, like, a stalagmite, and it could slip off if you're not careful. Like, if you put weight on it right now, it might slip off. Yeah, I want to test it after I toss it to see if it seems okay. So as you're testing it, it's starting to come the stalagmite, and good luck. Darn it. Okay, you get up the road. So with acrobatics, we're basically going to call this balance because you're not Mark Horry. Okay.

Balancing on the slippery slope and you with a 23 you get up you go just fine, phana you want to try next sure which did you say is okay to roll here acrobatics or athletics whichever one all right so it's still the same okay i switched dice and i think that was a bad call that's a six okay you fall like you get you put one foot on and immediately slip, you don't take damage, you just kind of and you don't quite fall into the water

but you do just very sloppily I thought my sticky feet would help don't count on it, Flora it doesn't seem to actually help, that's too bad uh, wanna try again or should I go let me try once more, I dust myself off look at the rope again, that's a lot better that's a good thing yeah it takes you a little bit because your speed is halved but you can pretty much get to the top and when you're close enough i'm sure mary william can help you up okay i guess it's my turn then.

Remember your feet aren't as sticky as you think they are yeah yeah i'm gonna glance down at popcorn and then glance at the rope glance at popcorn and try and tuck her into my apron a little bit Okay. Maybe I'll, like, tie a little pouch for her. Like, tuck the end of the apron into the waist. All right, Popcorn, hang on. And then I'm going to try and climb. I fully accept that this could be at disadvantage because I'm carrying Popcorn. Okay, yeah.

Almost 50 feet wide so like from the tunnel to the far end not the left side the left side was wall but to the far end of this like room we'll call it a room even though it opens up more to the right it's like uh 90 feet or not 90 feet it's like close to 50 feet straight on and then width-wise before you hit the next tunnel and before the wall starts to curve around to the far end, it's about half that, so like 25-30 feet. Okay, and this is like blocking us from getting further here.

Every time it triggers. Yeah, I don't think it's actually technically blocking us, it's just between us. It pauses us every time. Okay. And there's like nothing else I can see around. It's literally just this. Yeah, I mean, at this point, I'm ready to run past it farther into the room to see if I can get out of the field. I don't know how far that field extends. Okay. So you head into this like elongated room. I think I'm going to describe. Like it's just, it's a giant cavern, right? And it's pretty long so it goes something like I'm. 90 feet to the far wall. So much the room they were just in, in size. Double. Double the line for the room, and a little narrower. Just slightly. So it's like 25 feet across. So 25 feet across and like 90 feet long. And probably a 50 foot ceiling. And I heard the Pixies coming from this direction.

Do I see any sign of them here? Give me, uh, what would that be? Perception, investigation. Yeah, give me one of those. 19. Wait, dirty pony. You can see signs of the pixies all over the place. Like there's a floor kind of coated with dust, like substance. And you see... Sparkly dust. Yeah, and you see like dead flowers like, because they were made in the flower crowns and they're on the ground. If we're seeing this because I mean, I've followed her through here, right?

Could I use a druid craft to make a new flower and like stick it into one of the dead flower crowns? Yeah, you could. I'm going to read forward and do that. Okay, so you find your druid craft seems to bring this crown back to life. Oh! I smile. And then I look at Flora as if she's gonna, like, appreciate this. This crown is probably the size of a ring to you. Makes sense. There's pixie dust on the floor. But there's no sign of the pixies anywhere.
