Episode description

The adventurers find themselves navigating a complex dungeon, moving from room to room filled with sleeping foes and hidden treasures. They confront deceitful adversaries, including a cunning illusionist and hostile enforcers, each battle growing more intense. With quick thinking and strategic spells, the party manages to incapacitate enemies and discovers a foreboding message about the year of cinders.

Intro / Opening

So what I have from last time is you guys are in what I refer to as room two based on my map.

Introduction to the Dungeon

And there's a sleeping orc with 15, I don't know if I need to tell you how much HP with a certain amount of HP and ogre that's asleep with a lower amount of HP than what it was. And an illusionist and a dead apprentice. You said the top right round room.

So room what did i say room two ours don't have no i know we don't have the numbers yeah top left round room is where you left these bodies i think you guys camped out in their top right round room okay that's where i thought i just wanted to double check yeah so room one basically is it's not numbered with the open doorway and then the regular door to its left room one's the big circular room in the middle oh okay north of that is from left to right is two then three

and then for some reason on the west side from top to bottom is four then five, at the end of the game we went back to the waterfall room which was where we first came in, to short rest so that's where we currently are the waterfall room okay room six sure Maybe. I don't know. We don't have it on there. Is it coming off the corridor? Is it, what shape was it? I think it was one of the round rooms. Hang on, let me see what it is. I was going to say, I think it's the one top, so not top, top.

The east. This one kind of looks like a snail. Connected room to the middle. Lena's saying you guys went to the one just on the east, the northeast room. The east. It's east. The northern of the east rooms.

Yes. the one that's actually connected to the long corridor that goes to the north and then to the big round room yeah okay that one's six on my map and then the one below that is seven that's where we were short resting because like the other stuff that we did okay i'm just gonna go through so we made a plan to do two loops like the map we were gonna go up to the north and then we're gonna go around the round rooms and then back out we ran into an orc and

an ogre and we fought them and we got hurt quite a bit but we found money and half-eaten cheese that i fed to corn dog mm-hmm.

In those corridors we found a salty fountain but there was nothing else in that branch of the dungeon and we moved into the first round room that had a spring that flowed toward the large room, in the large room it was a throne room that looked like it used to be for dwarves but it had been defaced now to be for goblins it's all in disrepair everything seemed emptier than it should have been and then we could look through three openings in the one on the top we found a sleeping

goblin and a wolf who we talked to and he gave us intel did not kill us did not fight us.

And then yeah rag lag and then on the bottom there's a room with a sleeping, two sleeping goblins and right next to them a sleeping goblin and a bug bear, rag lag warned us about everyone not necessarily being as cool as him and right next to his room was the elf or the half elf and his apprentice there i think they were like a wizard or a sorcerer or something illusionist illusionist fauna put the illusionist zishan zishan to sleep and then accidentally killed

ozador the apprentice which is why now there's the body of the apprentice there we found wizardy things but nothing really helpful, And then we were told there were enforcers in the next room. We failed at breaking down the door, but that's okay because they broke it down for us. And then we fought them and again got hurt. I used my swarm for the first time, all of my fey chickens. And because we got very hurt, Fauna put them to sleep with the juggler ball.

We searched for treasure and then went back to rest. That's what I have. Okay. I also have written down the thing that was written, I think, by the fountain. Upon the solstice in the year of cinders and the cavern of spells, the citadel of Persis shall be found. Yeah. And I don't know that that'll ever mean anything. I know you said that, but you know, it feels like the type of thing that you should write down in D&D. Right. Yeah.

It's just, it was something from a randomly generated dungeon. Okay. So you guys take a short rest. And I think we already took it. We took it at the end of the game. Right. Okay. And so what are you guys going to do now? I'm back up to full health. We didn't check how long those guys were going to stay asleep, did we? I don't know if we know how long the juggler ball puts them to sleep. We knew that we were running the risk of it possibly not being long enough.

I thought it was a roll for the number of hours, or is that just when you knock them out? That's when you knock someone unconscious. I see. When you knock someone unconscious, it's typically a D4, and that's how many hours. Gotcha.

We we did explore the room where the enforcers were it was pretty gross it was pretty gross, there's a corridor going south but i don't necessarily feel like we have to go that way because there are rooms we didn't explore yet yeah i i agree so the only thing i'm concerned about is that we're accidentally going to wake up everybody in the rooms that are like open to this central room and i kind of feel like we need to knock

them out like actually knock them out since oh they were sleeping before but then we short rested so there's no guarantee they're still asleep i mean we could also sneak and if we see them awake i think i also picked up. For our day coming into this thing. Yep, I do have Pass Without a Trace, which would give us an hour, the plus 10 to self-checks if we wanted.

That's probably a good idea. So we could be a little bit quieter knowing that there's a whole bunch of things and knowing that we haven't been doing quite as well as we thought. Okay. Is that a spell or is it a cantrip? It's a spell. It's a level two spell, I think. are you comfortable using it? So I have three slots at the first level, which I have cure wounds and healing word there. I didn't really pick up anything other than lesser restoration at the second

level that would do anything. I could always use it in another day and I have two slots I haven't used either. So it would just be if I upcast healing word or cure wounds, which I think we've been doing okay with the first level. So we should be all right if I used it for this. I picked it up like for today's dungeon specifically thinking we might want it to be quieter. Yeah, I feel like if there was ever a time to use it.

That's what I'm thinking. So, alright. I'm going to cast Pass Without a Trace on it. So everybody just remember you get a plus 10 to stealth rolls. Yeah, and it's not invisibility. It just makes you better. Extra sneaky. Quieter. We leave no tracks or other traces of passage. That's it. And we can't be tracked by magical means. Does that count as a condition? No. No. I wish it had a place that you could just mark off. Pass without a trace. Yeah, that would be helpful.

Because, like, everybody uses that, right? A lot of them. Yeah, it's pretty common. Okay. So we're super stealthy now. Do you want to, I guess let's maybe scope out if those guys are still sleeping? I think that's our first bet, because that'll give us an indication of where we're at with sleep times. But then my next question is, what do we want to do if they're not asleep? Put them back to sleep, I think. Okay.

I mean, that's valid. I just want to make sure we have, like, a plan of what we're going to do. Well, what else do you think we should do, Flora? I mean, putting them back to sleep is probably the best course of action. Just don't want to get surprised, you know? I know. I think we just have to be extra cautious as we move through these next few rooms. We don't know what we're going to encounter, who's awake, who's not.

It's definitely been a little more dungeon-y than I expected in this dungeon. Then again, I did leave the last one bloody. Okay. I guess let's do it then. So what are you doing? Sneaking back into the bank room and scoping out the bottom two rooms. Okay. Roll stealth. And remember, plus 10, you guys. 24. Is it plus 10 in addition to our modifier? Yes, it's an extra plus 10. And I rolled a 19. 19 plus 14. I rolled a nat 20, so that gives me a total of 32. I think I have 33.

Yeah, you're all pretty up there. So in the southern room on the left is two goblins, and in the southern room on the right is a goblin and a bugbear. And you guys were seeing if they're awake or asleep? Yeah. Okay. For the two goblins, high or low? Someone else do this one. Low. The two goblins are awake. Great. For the bugbear and the goblin, high or low? Kayla? Hi. That rolled it by then. The bugbear and the goblin are also awake. Great. We did so good.

So they're all awake down there. So maybe we avoid these rooms for now. I'll kind of like whisper to everybody. Or, you know, just use a signal of let's keep going and check on maybe the ones that we put to sleep. And see if they're still asleep. Okay. So to the north then. Yes. Raglan, I'm sure, is still. Raglag. Yeah, Raglag. What's Raglan? Oh, that's like a t-shirt. Is he still hanging out in there? Yeah, he's still hanging out.

Is he awake or asleep right now? He's awake. Just pet and his wolf. Like you do. Yep. All right, so I guess I'll take the lead. Sneak past, well, not really sneak past Raglag. He doesn't care. Yeah, he's a friend. I will take a look through the door stealthily to see if the illusionist is still asleep. Yeah, they seem to be asleep. And were the enforcers in the same room when we put them to sleep? Yeah.

They're all still asleep? Yeah. Okay, perfect. Is this like a Sleeping Beauty kind of situation where they're just never going to wake up until someone wakes them up? So, I don't know, let me, I'm going to Google real quick, but what I'm thinking is maybe they wouldn't sleep no longer than maybe a long rest. And so we got, we would probably assume that the illusionist is not an elf because you can't put elves to sleep.

That's true. Uh... The sleep duration from the spell sleep is about a minute, but we're going to assume they're sleeping a much longer time. It's a specialized item, right? Yeah. I mean, it's a cursed item. Yeah. So the curse is worse than just the spell. Right. It wouldn't make sense for it to just be a minute. Yeah. So they're probably not going to sleep more than eight hours or four hours, maybe for the elf type who's not apparently an elf.

So we short rested. It's about an hour. An hour? Okay. So we have up to seven more hours. I feel like we never tested as characters how long it would last. Because I kind of just woke everybody back up when I used it on them. And I don't know that we investigated what it does. So we probably have no idea at this point how long they would sleep.

So I think we'd just be extra cautious. If you've been in the dungeon for at least an hour and then you took a short rest for an hour, at most you have two hours until the guys at the front wake up. So we'll figure that out probably on our way out, assuming it takes us that long. Okay, so I feel like we have a choice here. We could go into the next round room from the central room, or we can go down that corridor and try and come in the back way and maybe not disturb the open doors.

I think since they're asleep, we should go through the corridor. Okay. Any objections? I agree. All right. So we're going to go into the room where the enforcers had been. Okay. And then make our way to that corridor. Still stealthing. Mm-hmm. Okay. You make your way to the corridor. The dungeon says there's a tile labyrinth on the floor, but that doesn't make a ton of sense since these are five-foot squares and the hallway is only one five-foot square wide.

Okay. So we'll say it's more of like an inlay. Okay. Just a fancy pattern. Mm-hmm. All right. So we'll just go straight down to the door into this lower round room. Yeah, that'd be room five. Not that you're going to remember. I understand. It's a closed door to get in, right? I'm going to listen at the door. I don't hear anything. I'm going to open the door. Okay. You tried to open the door. It's stuck. Do I see you're struggling with it? Yeah.

Can I look at the door and see if I can tell why it's stuck? Like many of the other doors in this dungeon, the foundation seemed to have shifted over time, which is why that stream was coming in one area. The ceiling was collapsed in another area, and so many doors seemed to be stuck here.

So it's like uneven so it's catching on the floor yeah well so like the foundation the the ceiling is partially shoving the door into the ground so it's pretty good pretty well stuck it's not impossible but okay i was gonna say so is there a chance or not for us to really try to get this It would be a difficult roll to break it, or you could chop through it, basically. Becca, where's your thorn whip with the axes?

That's what I was thinking is, since I've used thorn whip to try to help us with doors before, that that's probably what Fauna would decide to try to do, is thorn whip the door and see if she can pull it here. Okay. Give me a roll. 11. So you hit the door. Give me a damage roll. Oh, max. Eight. Okay. It seems to take some damage. Ooh, do that again. Yeah, I think we might be able to beat our way through this door, so I'm going to whip it again. Okay. Whip it good.

Ooh, that was a much better roll. Twenty-four. Okay. Four. Oh, gosh. Max damage again. Eight. Oh, okay. My dice are liking me more tonight. It's taking... Why would you say that? It's taking... I know. I just burst it. It is taking more damage. Anybody have anything else they want to try to hit it with, too? You want my sickle? No, I'm just trying to make sure that I don't just... Why would I pick a sickle? I think I need to start to old Dave. Yeah.

That's an 11 to hit it again. So I think that was... It hit it the first time, right? Yep. Five this time. Damage. Okay. It is taking more damage. This is a pretty strong door But you're chipping away at it A dirty 20 Yeah that hits 6 damage. We'll get through this door one way or another 15 to hit 7 damage, is the equivalent of bloodied for a door. You mean it's splintered? Yeah, it's splintered. 24 to hit. Yeah, that hits. 3 more damage. Okay.

14 to hit. 3 more damage. Should I start chunking at it with my dagger? You could. I'll help out. Yeah. 8 damage. I'll hit it with my dagger and pretend I'm helping. 30 20 that hits 11 hits five seven damage and that's just enough between the two of you yay i hit it once with my dagger and was like got it you've defeated the door workout good job guys yeah as merriweather just stands there watching yeah that's what i was say. As I did until I pulled out my dagger for the final blow.

From inside. I almost look like I'm just playing around, just like whipping a door over and over. From inside, but from the north, you hear, hey, what's going on in there? Oh, of course. Laura, Fauna, Fauna, Fauna, make something up.

Something going on? That sounds crazy. I'm just bouncing my ball off the wall over here who is that i look at the others like oh no do we flee, make up a goblin name this is this is muck lug, i don't know any muck lug make i'm trying out some new names just go with it this is my name now make a persuasion check. This is me now yeah oh no yeah the role this character made is higher than that so good in here you're gonna be punished,

Is there a punishment? If you don't get in here, I'm coming out there. What's that? I'm allowed to play around with my name and these doors. Who says? Get in here. Well, guys, I guess we should get in here. Does he know how many of us there are? Not yet. We also don't know how many of him there are. True. Is there a place to hide? Probably not in a corridor. No. No, but we did just get this door open.

Yeah, the door's broken. So they're coming, but there is no door between the northern room and the southern room. The southern room is the one you just broke into, and the northern room, it was loud enough. So they're in that room there? Yeah, so they're coming. That makes sense. We'll roll initiative. Okay. Seven. Twenty. Oh. Okay, so first will be Flora. Just show yourself and make this easier.

I'm gonna step through the door. Okay. You see two humanoid people standing there with one heading through the door of the southern room. You said two people? Yeah. Hey there. What are you doing here? Taking a walk. What's it look like? And the one in the back says, kill her. Oh, great. I am going to sling a magic egg at the closest one and send the swarm after it. Okay. Here's my swarm. There's the swarm. Okay. So, magic egg. Not great. That's a nine. Yeah, that's not enough. Okay.

Swarm is only if I hit a creature. So is there any cover in the room? In the large, circular, small, circular room that you're in that is empty? No. I'm going to step back out the door. Okay. And to the side. And I'm going to look at my friends and go, they're not happy. And I'm just going to position my swarm between us. Okay. What was that, Kayla? I said to find unhappy. They want to kill me.

Let's just peachy with a side of cane. The one that you just fired at is going to come down to the room, stand in the center of that circular room, pull out its heavy crossbow, and fire at you? But I'm back in the hall. I stepped away from the door. The hall that's... You stepped around the corner? Okay, I'm going to be honest. I forgot that this was like that. I thought it was a T. Yeah, I know. Now you're most likely in direct line of sight.

Can I get partial cover for being to the side of the door? I'll give you partial cover. Okay. But that's only a plus two to AC. That's okay. I'll take it. Okay. 17. 17 with the partial cover. Yeah, so it hits. Okay. It's going to be, uh, which done is no one damage. Oh, okay. But he reloads. Oh, and he's going to fire at you again. That one's probably not going to hit with a seven. No. Okay. So that's his turn. He hit you, right? Yeah. Yeah. Let me missed. Okay. And then it's Fauna's turn.

Okay. I'm going to approach them and be like, Hey, why are you shooting at my friend? We're just trying to make our way through this dungeon here, just like all the rest of you. This isn't a dungeon. This is our place. Your place? Well, can I see your deed? Yeah. Come closer. I'll show it to you. Now I want you to pull it out of your bag first. I'm not falling for that trick. He pulls a piece of paper out of his bag. Does it actually look like something

official, like there might be something written on it? You're going to have to give me a perception check, I guess. Six. No, sorry. Nine. As far as you know, it might be a deed. All right. I'm going to warily approach and take a look at his deed. Okay. It's not a deed. It's just a piece of paper. I'm sorry. That's no deed. I've seen plenty of them. What are you trying to pull here? You don't own this place. We're allowed to walk through here.

Sure. I'll fight you for it. Why do we have to fight? How come we can't just coexist here? He turns back and says to his friend, should we kill this one first? I assume at this point, I'm probably smart enough to recognize that we're not getting out of this without fighting them.

Yeah, I would hope so. so i'm going to firebolt if i still have time because i know i did a lot of talking there if you want to count that as my action that's totally fair are you within melee range oh you're right i did get that close didn't i yeah so then instead it's a good point instead i'll just take a whack with my quarter staff just to show that we're not going to uh easily take this okay does a 12 hit him it just barely hits him that's one damage okay okay that's

your turn yep i'm gonna say you're mean yeah that's the point and he kind of crumples up the fake deed and throws it at your face oh mean you're really mean yeah you'll regret this okay we'll see meriwether it's your turn, So I'm guessing I do have to walk through the door Yeah and you just watched him Shove or throw a fake deed At Fauna's face. If you were just outside the door, then you are five, 10, 15, 20 feet from the dude. Okay. Perfect.

And if you just stepped inside the door, you're about 10 feet away from. Okay. I will use a witch bolt. Okay.

Cause he was mean. Oh, I like that number. 23 to hit Yeah that hits And that would be, 10 damage Okay You hit him And now out of the other room The other guy comes and yells Who's casting magic in here Wouldn't you like to know Yeah I would And he casts A spell Which is a bonus action and you see a floating sword appear next to uh meriwether and that floating sword is going to attack meriwether yeah i have to remember when you

cast spell make it melee attacks melee spell attacks against a creature okay so it's a melee spell attack which is. Does a 10 hit? No. Okay, so he misses. Well, it's a spiritual weapon. Did you say it's a spiritual weapon or what's a spiritual weapon? It's a spiritual weapon. And then he's going to cast sacred flame at you, Meriwether. So that's a dex save, I want to say. Let me double check that. Yeah, dexterity saving throw. 22. Yeah, that saves.

So you are unaffected. Flora, it's your turn again. Was the making more eggs an action or a bonus action? Do you remember? I can't find it on my sheet. I want to say we said bonus action because it's like magic stone. Okay. I couldn't find magic stone either. I'm going to make more eggs. And then I'm going to just step into the doorway enough to sling an egg with the slingshot. At the guy that I attacked before who had the crossbow.

Better that one's going to be a 15 15 uh-huh yeah that hits okay minimum damage that's going to be five magic egg damage and then my swarm is going to swarm into the room yeah and attack him okay For another three. Okay. And then I'm going to step around the corner this time. Mm-hmm. Out of line of sight. Okay. He is upset with you, but he is within melee range of Fauna. We can't really get out of the way. So he's just going to attack Fauna.

And he's going to drop his crossbow and just attack you with his mace. That's a nat one. and his second attack is 15 to him. Yeah, that hits. And that'll do 7 bludgeoning damage. Alright. Okay, then it's Vaughn's turn. I'm gonna say this is ridiculous. These guys are ridiculous. They think they own everything, but I think it's time for them to think about what they've been doing in their dreams. I'll pluck a juggler ball and touch the one in front of me. Okay. he falls asleep.

I think that's my only action there. Yeah. Actually, I guess I could move now, right? Because that was the only one in melee with me, or are they both now? Just that one was in melee. Okay. How close is the other one to me? He is standing kind of in the doorway north of you. So 5, 10, 15, catty corner. Okay, so I have some space. I'm going to back up enough that I'm... So I could use my full movement and get like 45 feet away from him. So I think that's what I'm going to do.

So you're leaving the room? Yeah. Okay. Which way are you going out the door? I'll just go straight back. I don't think I'm going to go to the side, so just straight back. Okay. And then, Meriwether, it's your turn? Are we all just leaving? I'm just trying to stay out of line of weapons. Tight. Got it. Weapons. I am going to do to do to do to do to do sorry I'm thinking.

Cross crossbow or, 21 hit yeah 21 hits with max damage 12, and this is the one that did magic on me I'm sorry if I didn't specify yeah no I understand that what I'm gonna tell you though because you put witch bolt on the thug the one who's asleep if you hit, the other guy your Witch Bolt will end because under Witch Bolt it says.

On a hit the target takes 1d12 lightning damage and on each of your turns for the duration you can use your action to deal 1d12 lightning damage to the target automatically the spell ends if you use your action to do anything else, oh okay you could totally wake him back up it won't be the end of the world because I'm out of melee with him now can i backtrack mike yeah i'll just hit that uh let the use the action to do another 1d12

okay roll 2d12 because he's asleep so it's an auto crit 18 damage yeah yeah he's unconscious sweet and now that cult fanatic is basically what it is is staring you down, but you could probably move out of the room, yeah back back back it up okay you back back back it up how far do you back back back it up I. I can, most of my stuff is range. So I like to not be up close and personal. Yeah. Plus I squishies. Oh, you were near that. You were by the door. I have 10, 20 would put you where.

So you could probably go back 15 feet. I want to say because fauna's behind you in the hall. That's fine. Okay. And then the cultist dude is going to. Come down 5, 10, 15, so he's in the center of the room where you just were, and he's looking at you guys, Fauna and Meriwether, through the door. His little sword is going to go 20 feet, which is just out of range of attacking you. I think the range is only 20 feet for a spiritual weapon.

Yeah, it can only move 20 feet. So it is not quite close enough to hit you this time. But he's going to cast a spell at you, most likely, once I decide what that is. He's going to cast... Let's see. Meriwether, I need you to make a wisdom saving throw. I think I'm good at those. No, I'm not. I thought I was. Oh, wait. Oh, no. Oh, there we go. I still had it set for two. So I was getting like 30 and I was just like, wait, that makes no sense. Yeah. Yeah.

Okay. You feel your muscles start to seize up, but you're able to kind of shake it off. It seems like you were a person who was about to be held. How dare they? Okay. So next is Flora. Oh, I'm Flora. Yeah. You are indeed Flora. I'm going to do exactly what I did before.

So the guy I was targeting isn't the one that she put to sleep right no the one she put to sleep is unconscious like dead unconscious but not actually dead like was taken up by Mary later I'm gonna magic egg again uh huh, it's the same as last time 15 okay let's use a different die that's not gonna give me ones I hope, the buck four so it's going to be eight from the magic egg and then my swarm is going to run in and do another d6 and that's going

to be another four so total okay that's a total 12 right i think yeah eight and four yep okay and then i duck back out again like out of the line of sight, Okay, it's Fauna's turn. All right. I'm going to shoot a fire bolt at the one who's left. Mm-hmm. 19? Yeah, that hits. Three fire damage. Okay. And then, Meriwena? When is his turn? I thought it was after me. No, that was the thug. He's dead. Well, unconscious. Okay. I'm going to then attack the guy who attacked me with the crossbow.

What? No, the guy with the crossbow is unconscious. No, no. The guy who attacked me, I'm going to attack him with the crossbow. Gotcha. Okay. 23 to hit. Yeah, that hits. 10. Okay. He is bloodied. And then it is his turn and he basically yells, how dare you? And then he shouts at you. He shouts at you approach and I need you to make a wisdom saving throw again. No. Is that command? Mm-hmm. 16. Yeah, that saves. Oof. So that's a failure on his part. Round four, Flora.

Same thing. This is my last egg at the moment. Uh, 22. Yeah, that hits.

Reason nine from the egg and full from the yeah he's unconscious when off the egg oh okay then i'll call off the chickens and his spiritual weapon disabuse you guys okay my i have a website i use a website that does battle simulation just to see how bad things will hurt you guys sometimes and it was exactly correct round four that's pretty crazy that's great yeah that is really crazy yeah you know it it hurt a little bit but i'm okay okay yeah they

did well they're both unconscious i think yeah it was all magic yeah unconscious okay i'm gonna venture into the room and start looking around, checking their pockets since we knocked them out and then just put them to sleep. Same. Okay. Let me see what would have been in there probably before.

Treasure Found

Okay. On them and this room is empty but this is not the room that came from right okay then i'm gonna move up to the other room and look around okay you see in the corner a treasure chest, well there's no corner it's a round room but you know what i mean and on the far side yeah And in the treasure chest is 90 gold pieces, 1,400 silver pieces, 2,000 copper pieces, a banded agate worth 10 gold, two blue quartz, each worth 10 gold, a malachite worth 10 gold,

two rhodochrosite worth 10 gold, two tiger's eye worth 10 gold, two turquoise 10 gold, and a potion. Hold on, one second. I am behind a couple. Rotoprosite, I got two of those. Unexpected Encounters

We are looking sad we have five good points okay it's your turn merriweather um well i guess i'm going to well he can't no he threw the spear right no he ran up and stabbed you with it Uh, damn it. Are a lot of things you can do yeah but i'm not used to playing one mike so that's the thing i'm trying to figure it out if you only have one hit point too you could always disengage and run back into the hall out of sight true yeah that's what we're gonna do okay, and fauna it's your turn all right is merriweather near me now uh yeah it's probably duck behind you and around the corner. Okay. It's under font of magic. You have three sorcery points that you regain when you finish a long rest. You can use your sorcery points to gain additional spell slots or sacrifice spell slots to gain additional sorcery points as a bonus action.

You use them for metamagic which you have careful spell, twin spell oh and distant spell you did not pick up quicken spell no so none of those are necessarily helpful in this space yeah but you can at least use one spell and you also have a wand of magic missile which is an auto hit that is true, forgot about the wand wait I have a So can I use distance spell?

Far you can yeah that just doubles the range of your spell it doesn't reduce the penalty, yeah so yeah everything is is up close and personal so it's either magic missile or basically nothing or darkness i thought about that one, you wouldn't be able to see but he would also be swinging at disadvantage yeah i like i said i was thinking of that one i had it pulled up, because now we can move around too so we can i'm going to cast darkness okay

so a 15 foot radius sphere for uh appears and it goes around corners no nobody can see basically because you would need met, you need like true sight or something like that, or blind sight or tremor sense to see in this. So everyone is blind right now, but All of us. Yeah. And if you were just here, sorry, if you weren't surrounded on both sides, you could probably run away since attacks of opportunity don't count when you can't see,

but there's nowhere to run because you're the hallways blocked. Whatever you want. But if we're all in darkness and it's magical darkness and starry with makes the target emit dim light does it do they cancel each other out does it not work because i would make it a straight well it would make it a straight roll basically because that gives you advantage no not in this case no starry with because it's just a basic cantrip it's just dim light can't be invisible In this case, I would give it to you that any of you guys would be able to see this person

So does that mean it can't be something that has any flying or swimming speed? So that would not count there versus you can't use its speed. No, you can't turn into anything that can fly or something.

The Darkness Falls

So I was picturing, I guess, that it was maybe on a necklace around my neck, and that maybe that stays on me when I transform, so they might recognize that. Well, I'm going to guess that I don't see Fauna, so I'm going to yell Fauna as I'm backing away from the spider. And I'm going to wave even more emphatically. So then I look at her questioningly, Fauna. I wave again. You have got to be kidding me. I'll chitter a little bit. Well, are you going to turn back to normal?

You already scared flora i'm gonna shake my head i still have three hit points in this and we have another fight to do so or potentially yeah that sounds reasonable to me honestly even though i'm not there so i i'm going to go out and tell flora that the giant spider is fauna and she will not change back um okay i mean it would have been nice if she warned us but but i'll go back out toward the spider but you know keep my distance a little bit okay

i wave at her i very cautiously wave back so one question mike yeah we did have pass without a trace which is a concentration spells. Do I lose concentration spells by wildshaping? No. Okay. Yes, it wasn't trapped. Oh, thank goodness. It has 90 gold, 1,200 silver pieces, 2,500 copper pieces, an agate-ware cup painted with a distinguished coat of arms worth 25 gold, an obsidian brazier, I almost said brazier, brazier, inlaid with a filigree of copper worth 25 gold.

There's a bag of tricks the gray version that's cool gauntlets of ogre power and a hat of disguise, man I'm going to kind of use my mandibles and my legs and point towards the fork we took down and his shawl reminding them to check out the shawl, good point I will take a look at the shawl okay.

In the shawl you find a potion of greater healing give that to Meriwether, just not for right now just she seems to get hurt a lot, we did put a potion of healing in the previous room and we didn't say who we gave it to so at this point I didn't want to retcon it in the middle of the thing but whoever I think you would open the treasure chest you could give her that potion of healing and maybe she wants to take that one, Okay. Go for it.

I'm the regular half of 10. Okay. And are you guys doing anything else in this room? Make a perception check. Oh, let's make a perception? Yeah. I can't remember if that's the one I keep mine or it's the beast. If it's wisdom, I think you keep wisdom because you're a wisdom caster. Yes, okay. Intelligence, wisdom, and charisma, I keep. So that's a wisdom, so it would be mine. So that's a 12. Okay. 18. Okay, with an 18, Meriwether, you notice the carpet seems sunken in one spot.

I'll go over and check it out. Okay. So you flip up the carpet, and you notice that the sewn floor here underneath the carpet is damaged and, like, somewhat collapsing down. Like a hole? A tunnel? What probably could become a hole if it was poked at. I'd poke it. Okay. The floor collapses. I'll use my dagger to kind of hit it. Yeah, the floor collapses in like a little five-foot area in front of you. You're able to kind of back away, having noticed that this was likely going to happen.

Okay. Do I see anything? It's dark and it looks like it might lead into a lower room I've thrown it up to the other two okay and that's where we're gonna end tonight.
