Episode description

It’s time to turn back the clock this week on Celtics Beat.  In this very special edition show, Rich Conte will take a look back at one of the best, if not the best, team in Boston Celtics history.   The 1973 Boston Celtics set a team record for most wins, 68, had the league MVP in Dave Cowens, but failed to capture a championship.  During the Eastern Conference Finals, Hall of Famer John Havlicek separated his shoulder, and the Celtics were never able to overcome the injury -- succumbing to the eventual champion New York Knicks in seven games.   Rich will have the pleasure to be joined by the legendary Bob Ryan.  Ryan is arguably the greatest professional basketball scribe in North American sports.  The 1972-73 Celtics was Ryan’s first year on the Celtics beat for the Boston Globe, and he has called that season his favorite in history.  Rich and Bob will look back, reminisce, and analyze that season. So tune in this Saturday to a retro edition of Celtics Beat.  Heard exclusively on CLNS Radio. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
