Hi, Rick, How are you? I'm good, How are you doing good? Oh my gosh. I have spoken to you so many times in my career, and I feels like every year you've You've got fifty billion tour dates, You're still supporting your incredible album that we spoke about your ladies that I'm automatic you're still doing the cruise tours. Every time you do these right and meet new fans or old fans or people have been with you like, does that is that what keeps you going? Is that do you need them

as much as they need you? Yeah? Absolutely. I used to think it was all about me. I think you do when when you first have success, But if you're in up for a long enough, you realize it's actually about the fans. And if they weren't there, you'd be you know, planned to treat people at the holiday end. So you know, I'm very, very fortunate to have people that are still interested in what I'm doing and what I've done, and I feel very I feel very honored, and

I'm greatful for it. I don't I don't take that for granted ever. And you know, it's fun when when we see your show and the people that sometimes you have with you at different venues or you're the crews and the fan fest that you you do. It feels like just so much like a break from the headlines, a break from the world. It's like it stops time almost when you hear these songs, they're comfortable, they make you think

and reflect and we're happy. And then some of your later music, you're newer music or covers, if you will, we already accept them and love them because it's it's it's from you. And is that how you go in to anything new that you want to try and approach? Is it is it that familiar feel that you you write with, or what is your inspiration when trying to conjure up anything new? It's trually, I don't know. I

don't think any writer really knows where the songs truly come from. They can get ideas when you see as something in the headlines or something happens to you personally, but the idea of the song coming through to to detail that or to put that in perspective, or you know, like if it's a death and a friend, you know, to to put that out there and try and heal through that. I don't really know where it comes from I know that I want to share songs I write. That's why I don't sit on

the shelf. You know, you want to share your feelings or others and and when I'm moved by someone's song, I want to I want to write a song like that to move people. It's part of the drive of a writer, I think, to connect. It's a way I connect with other people. I'm not real social as a person, but on stage I am, and through my music, I am Rick Springfield dot Com is where you can go get all the information all your new music, and you're touring through

the appears to be through the end of February. I'm sure you'll add some more stuff in there here and there, and then within that you're stopping at different cities and you're going to take a little break to do your fan get away, which is in the Dominican Republic, so nice place to get away with your fans in October. So I'll have all the details up on that. Let's talk about you and your life, and I always seem to talk

to you whenever I have a ton of events surrounding animals coming up. And it's it's crazy because I know how much animals mean to you, and I always like to talk to you about your inspiration, your pups. They mean, oh my gosh, so I have a new dog now he's going to turn one this coming Sunday, Wolfgang. But tell me about your life and pets and how they've added to your music. They well, they've certainly saved my life for sure. To call them Fry project. I just can meet

him, you know, anywhere I meet him raises my spirits. We see him in the airport and we're an hotel the other day that had a hotel dog and it's uh, it's they just slowly brought blood pressure and major major part for me, you know, to keep kind of keep saying I've always had a dog always well, and you know, I do think some things to help animals and kids. I think the two that I put my most

energy towards. Well, I mean, you really can't. You can't go wrong in those two arenas, right, because if someone has a problem with that, then that's a whole other situation with that person, right, Because I do. I do a program called Amazing Canine Duos and Lost in Pound, and I always close with people and pets when we're kinder to animals,

we're kinder to people. And I believe that, and I believe that's why I've always been such a fan of yours, because you know, from from the yet go, from following you, you know, yes, doctor Noah Drake. Yes, I was there with that, and then following you through your TV and your film and your animal advocacy and your music, and it's just, you know, it's just fun. And having been around all that rick and and writing through all of that, you know, you're you're watching

musicians, you're watching friends, You're we're all getting a little older. Does that give you different purpose when you go out on the road now? Do you have a more grateful I know you touched on that moments ago about being for the fans, but personally, do you have more of an appreciation for yourself and your music when you're out on the road Now? I think I'm

a little easier on myself. Yeah. I used to be very used to be very harsh on myself when I was younger, and my worst critic and all that that's seized up a little and I've gotten older, and I guess I'm more sure of myself and you know, confident and myself as a writer and all that kind of thing. And I don't know if we've comes with age, but I think certainly there's a certain confidence that does come with it for sure. And you know you've been doing it for a long time.

But I don't have some chops or have it down but now or you know that I'm a better freaking to stop right, all right? So do you always have a guitar handy? Like whenever you're so you're just like, okay, everyone's like, oh, we're gonna sit, We're gonna watch a movie and it's quiet and there's a scary partument on and all of a sudden here comes wricking a guitar. Like are you that person on the couch with a guitar all the time? Or do you do you put it down and take

breaks from it? Oh? No, I put yeah, I put it. I put it down. I only pick it up to write, really, And it's usually you know, outside are there are places I go to write, but I'm watching something unless unless some idea comes from what I'm watching, which has happened for sure, I'll grab I'll grab a guitar, but no, I can separate it. I can separate them and if you,

well, I guess, I guess you do have to. But at this point in your career when you're getting ready to go on, so what are some of the different ways that you prepare now to to keep yourself healthy and things that you bring with you and things that you do to mentally get ready for another another trunk? Because you've always, to me seemed like you've always been pretty good shape. So how do you prepare again? Working out? I work out. I take in all certain foods on the road that they

don't have readily available. I'm pretty pretty strict on what I eat. I have been for a long time. But you know, it's really it's just a mental kind of preparation. Wouldn't anything being away from home for a while, this tour, this we've been out for a couple of weeks, and that's a longest I've been away from home, I think since the eighties. We're nice to go out for like, you know, two months at a

time. Wow. And uh. And it's it's as you know, as you do get all the home becomes more important than a bigger part of your of your world, until it makes it harder to leave. You know when you realize there's only a certain number of breaths to got left. Well, geez on that note, let's get ready to wrap Rick Springfield dot com. I'm gonna have all the links up there, and you're going to see him on tour through February. Well, we'll have we follow you. It's play

your music, Rick, I talk about you. I appreciate everything you do. You know if you can leave our fans. I always like to ask you this question when we're rapping or in clothes, and I've asked you this so many different times, and You've always come up with a different answer. So let's see if we can't keep our streak going. But maybe maybe there's a story behind one of your songs. It doesn't matter because I've always asked

you about Jesse. We know all those stories, but like, is there some fun stories between a recent song that you've written that happened by accident or is there one you know now that I'm talking right now, a story that you can recall, a fun memory behind a song that you've written, so then when we listen to it we have more of appreciation for it. Well, actually, the song one of the ones we do live the new songs is called Automatic. It's a title track from the album. And I woke

up at three in the morning with a song playing in my head. And usually when that happens, you know, you go, oh wow, great song, and you get up and get ready to write it down and then realize it's a Beatles song. Its Lady's a brickl starter, subconscious plagiarism. So but this was an original song, and I got up and turned on tape recorder and played it, and when I woke up the next day it was I liked it, and so I was this when you know, when

you get things in a dream, it's it's pretty magical. So that's really where the song came from. And I don't fully know what it means a song. I'm trying to work it out. Well, thanks to you, haven't broken. We We're good. We are we are winning this question. So until our next conversation, I wish you know thing about fun, success, puppy kisses, and and maybe we'll see you pop up in a movie

or or film or TV soon. Any any nuggets there. I know there's the strike going on now, but do you have any plans to do anything like that? Yeah, absolutely, there's there's things in the area, you know, but it's nothing solid just yet. But as an actor, you you've got to have other pursuits and I certainly have that on the road and in the studios. So until something comes up, I'm busy. All right. Well, I hope you'll come back and visit me again. It's always

a pleasure. Have a great tour. Thanks, so I appreciate it. Bye bye.
