Episode description

FOUR CHAIR DISCIPLESHIP: Walls to Growth
Pastor Kent Landhuis

THEME - Disciples face barriers to growth. We are called to break down these walls.

TEXT -  Matthew 19:16-22

OUTLINE
Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:21-22

THREE WALLS TO GROWTH

1. Sin.
* If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9
* Growing disciples confess their sin.

2. Satisfaction.
* Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. Isaiah 55:2
* Growing disciples find satisfaction in Jesus..

3. Suffering.
* Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23
* Growing disciples embrace suffering.

NEXT STEPS
