I'm Jennifer Kuyper. Corey Richens, who wrote a children's book on grief after she murdered her husband, has learned her fate. CBS Chanel Call is covering the Utah trial.
Roy Richens has now been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole. And as the verdict was read aloud, she was mostly looking down. Um as the judge read aloud that verdict. Uh she also seemed Visibly unemotional as this was being read.
Richens was convicted of poisoning her husband Eric with fentanyl in twenty twenty two and told their children into today today in court.
Never have to deal with such tragedy. And I am so so sorry that you were going through this. You boys have the right to be angry and sad and confused.
A jury ha also found her guilty of insurance fraud, forgery, and attempted murder for a previous poisoning attempt.
The South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled unanimously to overturn the murder convictions and life sentence of Alec Murdoch. The justices ruled the clerk of court involved in the case influenced the jury to find Murdoch guilty. Murdoch has admitted to being a thief.
A liar, insurance cheat, and bad lawyer, but is adamantly denied killing his wife Maggie and youngest son Paul outside the family home in twenty twenty one. He will remain in prison after pleading guilty to financial crimes. Jim Crisula CBS News.

Vice President J D Vance announces an anti fraud task force to crack down on Medicare and Medicaid nationwide.
You allow hundreds of millions, billions, even more money to go out the door, not to health care services for low-income families, but to fraudsters, you eventually are going to destroy the Medicaid program.
The task force efforts will include freezing some Medicare enrollments and warning states to investigate Medicaid fraud or risk losing funding. Sixteen U.S. citizens who were on the ship during a huntivirus outbreak are now being monitored.

A new study finds the US is in a reading recession. C B S's Michael Wallace has more.
Researchers at Harvard, Dartmouth, and Stanford found reading test scores for third to eighth graders only rose in five states over the last three years. Doctor Jason Nagata at UC San Francisco blames social media.
