154. Fasting: Recovering the Ancient Christian Practice

This was a talk I gave for the Armor of God Men's Group on April 20th, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church's Life Center. In it I go over what fasting is, giving definitions and explanations from Aquinas, De Sales, and Benedict XVI. I also give a history of the Church's fasting disciplines from the Old Testament to the present day. Lastly, I offer some reflections on how these previous disciplines can spur us on to fast with more intentionality today.
