“Pilot of the Airwaves” is a 1979 hit single by the English singer-songwriter, Charlie Dore. I was only eight years old when I first heard the song, Pilot of the Airwaves and fell in love with it right away. The song was played frequently on the radio, and I was always listening for it. Somehow I knew that it was telling the story about people and their love for radio.

“Pilot of the Airwaves” is a radio disc jockey. According to the lyrics, there is no real life friends, and the DJ Kees the woman company.

Lyric 2nd verse: Late at night I’m still listening
Don’t waste my time chasing sleep.
People say I look weary
But that’s just the company I keep.

The DJ seems like a friend to the woman.

Part of Chorus: I’ve been listening to your show on the radio
And you seem like a friend to me. ….

I’m Gail Nobles and you’re listening to, Post Girl’s Recordings.
