Hello and welcome to another episode of Casting Views. Now this is usually where I say the podcast that takes an episode or a subject each week and has the name stressed Cast Views. This week though, I don't actually know what's happening, but all I know is I'm celebrating 200 episodes and to celebrate this milestone with me. If you listen to last week's episode, you'll know anyway. But I've got the wonderful, the lovely, the adorable Joey from the Game Club pod.
Hi to Joey. Hi Dan, No one's ever called me adorable apart from you. I've quite enjoyed it. Well, what is it? And when I've said that I don't know what's going on, I literally don't because I sort of said to you a few weeks ago, didn't I, Do you fancy coming on to celebrate with me? He said yeah. And I said, well, do you wanna like, ask me some questions? He said, yeah, I don't mind. And then I left you alone, didn't I? And I completely forgot until
two nights ago. And I said I've not, I've not sorted anything out with you. I didn't forget, Dan, and I've got a treat for you. Well, look, well, thank you very much for doing this. I really do appreciate it. And yeah, 200 episodes. When I realised a few weeks ago, I couldn't believe it. So I looked at it and if I estimate it, average it out, say at 55 minutes an episode. So that's 11,000 minutes, which I think is 183 hours, which I think is 7 1/2 days. That's not enough down, but it's
it's a good amount. And yeah, so I saw look, do something slightly different, a little celebration. I mean, it's changed a bit over time. So I'm now do some TV reviews, TV show reviews, et cetera. And it's not quite four years, four years will be in September, but it's some time. But the most unbelievable thing that's happened during it is that we've seen an Oasis reunion during it. So that's, that's how I'm going to mark my my time doing a podcast that it saw that happen.
It's all down to you. Well done, Dan. Yeah, and Griffin, Hi, Griffin for the episode he done, I'm sure that had one. Do you know what? I think I've got some messages I want to do at the end, but I'm both really excited and nervous at the same time about this, so I'm just going to hand over to you. Hello and welcome to Casting Views, the podcast where we take a subject every week and as the name suggests, cast Views.
I'm your host at this time, Joey Fitz, and I'm joined by the most incredible guest that you could ever, ever ask for. Dan. How are you, Dan? Wow, that feels weird. Yeah, I'm very good. Thank you. Yeah, as Dan said, he is visibly nervous. And Dan, I implore you not to be there has been a bit gone into this, but all of it from a loving place and all of it in appreciation for the fantastic milestone that you have hit with 200 episodes. So before we get into it, congratulations.
Thank you and well done because we all love casting views. Absolutely love it. So my original idea was to write down questions and interview you. I was going to play the Parkinson theme tune at the Star, but then I thought the people of casting views have heard my voice enough. So I've got some quick fire questions for you, Dan. So we'll start with them and then I'm going to bring you some special guests out just for you, OK? None. Of them dumb little or anything like that.
So Dan 10 very quick fire questions because what I have will take up the bulk of the episode. What's the first word that comes to mind when you hear episode 1? Awkward, I think. OK, cool. And if you want to elaborate on these anymore, let me know, but if you don't, we'll just rattle through. Them OK now, just just very quickly, I mean, I think I've said a couple of times, the 1st 15 episodes actually I've archived off because when I've gone back the audio was pretty
bad and felt a bit wooden. So yeah, I mean, some people will probably say that about episode 199, but yeah, no awkward, awkward. OK, well, first 3 episodes I did Dan, I had the microphone facing the wrong way. So you're in good company here. You. Just made me check then. Damn coffee or tea while editing? Coffee. Coffee. OK, cool, one topic that you'd never touch again. Oh, never touch again.
I tend not to do anything too bad, but I'd probably do, you know, I'd probably time travel because that did my head in. I remember coming away with that. I recorded it late at night as well because it was someone in America. It was about a midnight sort of start or just before midnight. So and just some of the, I mean, I love it. So don't get me wrong, it's an absolutely wonderful and and weirdly I've got that down as say, one of my favourite episodes, but I think it messed
my brain up so much. I don't think I could do it again. OK cool. I'm sure Mrs. Casting Views was very pleased with the midnight start and recording. Damn. If you were to have a meal deal from anywhere, what's your go to meal deal? Well, it's predominantly going to be Tesco and it'll probably be the Hoisin Duck Wrap. OK. Or it's a chicken sandwich. It'll be a bag of they do well. What are those walkers? Max the ruffle ones? Like the Walkers version of Mccoy's. Yeah, Paprika.
And it'll be it'll be a bottle of orange juice with bits in. OK, the bits are important. I can't remember their brand name. Don't don't say it. It's not sponsored, don't worry, but could be. But it could be Dan an episode that you weren't sure people would resonate with, but they did I. Weren't sure what resonate with Do you know what?
It's a recent one actually, and I've had a couple of people say something about it. It was the Operation Mincemeat one because it was very much a historical thing and I've never done anything like that. So yeah, I I think it would be that one because it's, it's something out the ordinary for me. OK cool, good episode if I did say so myself. Do you find editing soothing or soul crushing? I love editing. Talk us through your editing process.
I've changed it recently because of I've set up a second podcast with good friend, Co host Dan H. So because I've been editing a couple of episodes a week, I've cut it down to 1 pass through. But normally what I would do is I sit down, I listen to the podcast, I'll edit it once and then I'll listen through it
again. And you know, there'll be, there'll be things I've missed out because, you know, when you've, you've played a bit of your own sort of audio that's annoyed you and you've played it over 15 times, you suddenly start blocking words out, don't you? But yeah, yeah, no, I'll just sit it there. I'll, I'll, I'll have, I'll have my drink with me, you know, my coffee. And yeah, I'll pass through it twice, usually just to, to cut things out.
But yeah, I I really do like it. Unless there's not a time constraint or what happened last week where I lost about an hour and a half's worth of editing. That's the less fun part. OK, Dan, what's the weirdest app on your phone? Weirdest app? Yeah, I won't mention that one. I won't mention that. Oh, actually, I downloaded one this this week. Helps you remember to have a good posture on your back. But it's probably the ukulele
tuner. Nice. Nice late night recordings or do you prefer the preparation side before you start recording? Which one of those is your favorite? I think it's definitely the recorded. Yeah, yeah. And then finally, my quick five questions. One word to describe casting views at its best. Random. Random views, right? So I did have loads of questions and if we've got time, I'll go
through some of them. If we don't, I won't be precious about it. But what I did do, Dan, when you said to me, do you want to come on and Co host the 200th episode, I thought, oh, it's a bloody big milestone and Dan loves his guests. So I've reached out to a number of your previous guests and asked them to send me not just questions but voice notes. So I have a lot of people who are really keen to congratulate you and to ask you a question.
So there's a mixture in here of messages and questions and we'll just go through them and please take your time, answer them fully because people are really excited to hear your answers. And you spoke about your other podcast, your Co host Dan came back with an excellent message with a celebrity that you might. Here. Hello Dan, it's your biggest fan. Tom Jones here. Just saying congratulations on 200 episodes. Not really. It's that idiot you.
Recalled gaming views with just saying many, many congratulations on the two hundredths episode and I have a question for you. If you could play a game. That you actually hate but really want to love. What would it be? Answers on a postcard. There you go, I. Love that. That's made my chest hurt from laughing. I love that. But sorry Tom. Oh, is it? That Tom. Yeah. Yeah, it was Tom and then Dan. This is an easy one for me. It would have to be Dark Souls.
I really want to love. I really want to love Dark Souls. I've tried it, I just don't think I ever can. Maybe one day, Maybe one day. Is there an inside joke there with the Tom Jones? Or is it just an impression? Dan can do pretty well. No, no, I think it's just something random that I didn't know he could do, but now I'm going to ask him to do it. He. Should do. I think he has Tom. Jones to to bring in cheers.
Dan. Moving on to someone that you've already mentioned in this podcast, so Hands. Up who likes me? No one, Rick. Absolutely no one. And we're not here to talk about you. We're here to talk about Dan from casting views and now gaming views. Dan, this is Griffin over here at Reboot D Boot. And I just want to say thank you and congratulations. First off, thank you for your wisdom and your insights, your views that you cast and getting other people to cast their views
as well. It is a fantastic platform and you are a fantastic host. I want to thank. You for your friendship, your companionship, and some of your ideas, you know, not alone in this. Obviously there is a ton of other messages you're getting, so I'll keep it short and sweet and I just want to say thank you and congratulations and good luck in your future endeavors, man. Yeah, and everyone remember, if Dan wants our opinions, he'll give them to us.
Oh, thank you, Griffin. He's he's a wonderful guy, too. He is a lovely guy. Griffin didn't have the question there, but I think it was a lovely, lovely message. What I'd ask you is can you please tell us the story about you behind the Oasis episode with you and Griffin and how that came back? I don't. I think you may have mentioned it on the pod before, but it's a good one. Yeah, so I remember. So I I'd linked up with Griffin already.
We'd spoken and I'd got him on for it was even mind wipe or it was a mind wipe. It was a mind wipe. I remember him talking about Aerosmith. Yeah, well, I'm glad, you know, you're my show better than I do. And then he said, oh, we should link up again. He goes, you know, maybe come on my show. And I said, yeah, right. And then he sort of said because he, I think he'd been saying that he was looking at doing something musical anyway. And so he said, how about we
talk about your love of Oasis? So I said, brilliant. Yeah, But anyway, that was a couple of weeks out. I remember driving home from work that day, you know, and you know when things hit you always too late. And I said, but his show is a movie show, so it feels a really big odd doing something about Oasis. So I said I messaged you when I got back and I said just, you know, out curiosity, are you coming on my show? You know, I'm coming on your show goes no, I'm coming on your
show. And I said, OK, can you give me 5 minutes to get the link set up? So basically I thought I was guesting on his show because he was, he said I'm going to ask you about your love Oasis. But no, he came onto my show and that and that's why I love that episode so much because one, I was totally not expecting it. So I hadn't really done anything. I mean, you know, if you like something, you don't need to
prep. But if it was, if I was knowing it was going to be on my show, I would have had a lot more sort of structure around it. But we just jumped on, I think it was a Friday night. And yeah, he came on and and was the host, technically. And it sticks out my mind as being one of my favorite shows because of that, especially the shambles beforehand. Yeah, on my part, obviously on my part. I think, well, if if someone said to me I want to listen to casting views, where would I go
to? I think I'd point them to the Oasis episode because, and you can edit this out. Whilst I'm not Oasis biggest fan and I know you wouldn't normally let me on the pod saying that whilst I'm not the biggest fan of Oasis, your passion and your how much you care about that band and how much it means to you really chum through. And I think the rapport between you and Griffin really, I was convinced that you 2 had known each other for like 10-15 years.
You just get on so well and and same goes with his mind wipe episode. It it was really a very good conversation to to be listening in on. It's why it's difficult, isn't it, when you meet in another podcaster for the first time. But I remember when he first came on the show that that was it. It's like we'd been friends for a while. It just felt flowing. So yeah, he's, he's a really
good guy, really good guy. It's what happens when you get 2 lovely people and two excellent podcasters together. Right? So we heard from Griffin. We have another one here which does have a question. This is Slade from Driveway Beers. Hi Dan, it's your friend Slade from Driveway Studios. Hope you're doing good. Congratulations on 100 episodes of casting views. That is at least 100 views casted if I did the math correctly. My only question for you, there's unfortunate news.
Your flat's on fire. You only have time to grab 5 records from your collection. What 5 do you grab? I feel there's something with because obviously he said the 100 didn't. I didn't, I get that. Was it linked to that? I think it is. I think it is. I'm not sure. I haven't asked him, but sorry Dan, please tell the back story behind that. So I think I can't remember even myself, my memory is so bad. I think it was your two year anniversary or your three-year anniversary.
I think it was a three-year and I told you all, could you record a two year, you know, if you want to do something for my 2 year anniversary so you don't recorded a message for my second year anniversary and then I'll message you back and said it's actually three years. And I think this was quite early on in our friendship. I think so, yeah, embarrassing.
5 records. It's so I think 1 would be an Oasis one, but I'm probably going to pick the the net worth 95.1 actually, just because the memory's there. You know when you get that mind blank, don't you? Well, I don't mean to spoil it, but you do have a number of records behind you. Yeah, I'd pick. Oh, I've got people in the pod pack will appreciate this. I've got that Saltburn variant. OK. One, I have that and if you, if you're aware of that, yeah, it's
that Saltburn variant. Let's just say the inside of it is liquid. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think moving on, yeah. Well, I'll, I'll spoil one for you that comes up again, Dan. And they're not as they're, they're not as polite as we just were. And I can guess there would probably be. I've got a Peanuts record that's shaped as a Halloween as a pumpkin, so I'd probably pick that. I've got another one I really like is a Fickle Friends one and it's done as a bootleg horror DVD.
I really like that one. I think that's 4, isn't it? What else? I'd probably have a I've got a Prodigy remixes. I think some Invaders Must Die remixes limited 1 so I'll take that. I like how you chose the ones for the shape of the record rather than the music that's on them. Yeah, they're limited. I might be able to sell them and get like a forward rent for a flat or something. Also, Slade didn't say that your record player was making it out, so I think it's a really smart move.
Well, there. You go thanks Slade for that. And then the person who came back the quickest out of everyone, Dan Cindy from the Hypno Wellness podcast. I put the message out and Cindy was back to me with this message within minutes. Hey, Dan, Cindy here from Hypno Wellness, first of all. Huge congratulations on 200 episodes. That's an incredible milestone and it's a real testament to your passion and consistency.
I may not know you in person, but from our chat I could tell you're curious, kind, and a genuinely great conversationalist. You made it so easy to connect and have fun on the mic. So my question for you is, if you could go back to the very first episode and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be? And again, cheers to 200 episodes. Thank you, Cindy. And yeah, she was great. So I've only recorded once of her, but I think she had some technical issues, her side as well.
She couldn't have the camera on. But even though the camera wasn't on, we still had a really good episode that that, that was a great one to do. I think if I could go back and give myself one piece of advice, I think it would be to relax. I think it would be to relax. I think when I go back I think I was probably either a little bit nervy or trying too hard to make it the best episode I I can. I think so. Is is relax. And now it comes naturally to make it the best episode you can.
Well, now we've just said on a couple of like this one, I don't know what I what's actually happening. On the Griffin one, I didn't know what was happening 5 minutes before. I think not not having a structure is is a good thing. Nice. OK, cool. But yeah, I was just impressed with how quickly Cindy got back to, Yeah, it was naturally
minutes. And then we have Luke from the Harley Beans podcast from the Pod Pack Collective, I believe the first member of the Pod Pack Collective in this group. Spoiler alert, there is a few more. Hey Dan, it's Luke from Howdy Beans podcast. I've heard the news 200 episodes. This is absolutely biblical. I am so incredibly proud of you.
All the things that you've achieved, all the years that you've been doing this, all the ups and downs, the highs and the lows, and now you've got gaming views as well with over Dan. It's absolutely brilliant and I'm so incredibly proud of you, buddy. I know that the future is going to be incredibly bright and I can't wait to see what the next 200 episodes are going to be. I'm sure they're going to be absolutely brilliant. So until then I will see you
very, very soon. He's always so enthusiastic, isn't he? Thank you, Luke. Bundles of energy that'll go as he gets a bit older, won't it? Cheers, Luke. Thank you. So now we have a three-part message. Oh, OK. 3 hosts, 3 separate messages and a dog, so we'll start with this one. Hi, Dan, it's Colin from Seismic Cinema. Congratulations on the upcoming
200th episode. What a great achievement, especially considering the wide variety of different shows you have within your portfolio and the sheer amount I guess you have on as well. You're a real inspiration to us all. I really enjoyed having you on our show to talk about The Karate Kid, me wearing McGee, looking, looking like Gaddafi, and I really enjoy coming on your main white series and it's a great format and I really enjoyed revisiting some memories.
You've got real knack for making your guests feel important and comfortable and willing to share with your main white series in mind. My question is, if you could redo and forget all about one of your podcast episodes and do it again, what would it be? Take care and keep being awesome. There you go Dan. If you did one episode again with no prior knowledge, which one would it be? Do you know what the one
recently I've had a lot of fun. Well, I say recently, but it's a little while ago was and it's one with you on it's the origins of phrases. I really enjoyed that. That was just good fun and I want to do a follow up to that. But we have to get Tim involved and now it's on recording. He has to be involved because heaven knows what Tim will bring to the origin of phrases. Well thanks Colin, Dan you no prizes for guessing what podcast is next.
As I said, it's a 3 parter. This is James from Seismic Cinema. All right, Dan, my mom, it's happening, bro. It's James the Happy Seismic Cinema. I just want to hear you message to say congratulations and well done on reaching 200 episodes. That's a fantastic achievement. Well done mate and also I want
to say thank you and all. You've hit me on your podcast a couple of Times Now talking about Black Mirror and talking about Bigfoot. Just trying to convince you and everybody else that Bigfoot does exist. So thanks again for that mate. In all 8 times you've asked me loads of questions and I don't think I've ever asked you a question on them. So it's my turn now and it's got nothing. Today we gaming, nothing today we follow my TV. It's about football.
But First things first, I want to say well done on winning Europa League. Could you beat the Sky Manchester United even though you don't get a draw against Rangers Ibrox? But my question for you is mate, how do you feel about Angie Posta Cogley getting sacked? You think it was too early or the Hink maybe she got a chance to survive another season in the Premier League and all things
see this being well done again. I do appreciate everything you've been doing for sizing Cinema as we all meet. So keep up the good work and I look forward to another 200 episodes, buddy. OK. Actually, I mean, thank you, James. Do you think and possibly was sacked too soon? You might need to explain this for some of your listeners there. Yeah, so to cut a very tragic story short. So. Yeah, AS plus the Cogley, our manager had a decent first
season. Second season was probably one of our worst on records in terms of league form. I think we finished 17th and we were just lucky. There were three worst teams. However, we did win the Europa League, which is the European Cup. Sorry, I should make sure I say European competition and gets us in the Champions League. So that's that was vital I think. I think it was probably on balance, I like him. So if he'd have stayed with the Champions League wouldn't have been against it.
But I think having said that, we finished 17th, you know, if we it's a flip of a coin, if we hadn't got to the final, if we had lost the final, then we're a team that finished 17th with our worst points record in however many years. So I can understand why it is, but I hope why he moved on. But I hope, you know, he does really well. I mean, I liked him. He's he's he seems like a good guy. It's. Because he says mate in his interviews, isn't it? Yeah. So, yeah.
But just just very quickly, James was another episode that had a bit of a funny because I got him on it was going to be about conspiracy. So I had a few things I was going to talk about. He wanted to talk about Bigfoot. And then we ended up basically, I was having such a fascinating time hearing his passion for that subject that I just halfway through it, I made the decision in my brain just to to say right now we're going to stick with this. And the whole episode was on that.
And I'm glad I did because, you know, if I'd have just sort of finished it after 20 minutes said right now I want to talk about this, I don't think it would have been the episode it was. It was a really good episode. I remember making the thumbnail for it, and then when you said it's focusing on Bigfoot, I thought, Oh my God, I've put that logo on a UFO. It's going to think I'm nuts. But when I said random earlier, I thought like that. It's fine. I sent you a picture from one of
my old episodes. You know where it's got me and Josh and from talks fact and Adam from the K with the boys playing football while Justin's got a basketball and in basketball thing. So outfit. You come a long way, Dan, Come a very long way, right? And now Paul from seismic seminars kind of round off the seismic section. Paul's dog makes quite the appearance in this. So so look forward to it. Oh Dan the man, the Tottenham fan. This is Peaky from Seismic Cinema.
Congrats on this. 200 episodes for a fantastic achievement. We've been fortunate enough to have you on a couple of teams on our show. I've not actually. Been on the show with you which is mental considering I talked to you. Every day on the pod pack chat and I make some daft photoshop's of you just because I can. But anyway, that's by the by. So the question is, we all know how you love your vinyls. How your favorite 1 is that spunky bath water one from Salt Burden and.
If you could create a. Custom vinyl from a movie or just an album. Whatever you like. And have it have a cool kind of signature feature. What would it be and why? And again, Congrats on the 200 episodes. Fantastic. That's some really good questions. So thank you. Yeah. And he's probably the only person outside of you and Justin that's got more pictures of me than I have. So yeah, I would have. Do you know, I would have a vinyl based on Back to the Future?
It would have a picture of a DeLorean on and if you could spin it to, I don't know, 88 revolutions per minute, it would, it would go back in time. It would change into a different record. Catch fire and have the two streaks down the middle. And maybe that's what leads to Slade's question. There we go. This time is all a loop, right? Yeah. We're going back to this time travel episode that you didn't want to. Redo down.
Yeah, just the Seismic boys were really keen to to get involved there and I think they provided some really good question. They're a lovely bunch too. I'd really like Dan down the Tottenham fan. I don't know how you feel about that sometimes being a Tottenham fan, but but yeah, it's a good one that'll stick. So another member of the Pod Pack collective here. This is Marie from 2 Girls 1 Reusable. Hi Dan, congratulations on being
a legend. Honestly, when I started this hobby a few years ago, I generally did not think I would meet incredible, wonderful people just like yourself. And I was told to ask you just one question, which you know is a big responsibility. And I and I tried to narrow it down. I jumped between asking you logical questions, asking questions, of course, about my topic of interest, which is sustainability, and then I thought maybe I should ask a question that would just create
chaos. For example, who is your favorite member of We Need Rhodes and why is It me? If you were stuck on a desert island, which one of the pod pack collectors would you eat first? My question is, and the topic that I want to cast your views on is which album would you want to turn into a movie For example like Pink Floyd did with The Wall which personally I'm not a fan of and also movie soundtracks do not count so don't even mention the come record.
I promise that's the last mention of the Salt Burn soundtrack and Dan as as a peek behind the curtain when I sent the message to Marie and said, look, I'm I'm collecting all of these things. Would you like to send a message to Dan? Ask him a question, she said Oh my God, this is so cute. And then proceeded to send me GIFs of SpongeBob, Sirk and JD from from Scrubs, Schmidt from New Girl. And she said followed up with
how unhinged can my question be? So that's how we got to where we got to. But that is her in a in a nutshell, isn't it? And yes, Bree, it would always be you. Well, no, actually, no, for the first one. That's such an interesting question and I'm struggling at the moment. So which album would I turn into a movie? A movie? Do you know what? Just because I see them over my shoulder and I still haven't
turned them the right way round. So you can't see this obviously on this episode, but I've got an album on on my shelf. It's upside down. It would be the Ash 1977 album right now. One because it's an awesome album, 2 because it was 1977. So that's the year I was born as well. But they also named it that partly because of Star Wars. So I think it's it's almost like it'd be my origin story, so. I like.
That and it would have me if I can't get, you know, like Brad Pitt to narrate it, it would have me narrating my story from, Yeah, my, my birth to, to sitting here with you now and and you making me all bit teary here with this episode. If if Brad Pitt can't narrate it, I'm sure he would be flattered to be asked to play you. Well, well, I was going to ask you or Tim or Alex first for, for, you know, to, to do that, but yeah. You don't want any of us to do it.
Brad Pitt's far more fitting for you, Dan. Right? So we move on to yet another member of the Pod Pack Collective and actually one of the founders of the Pod Pack Collective. It's my friend and yours, Satsu from Chatsunami. Hey Dan, this is Satsu from the Chatsunami podcast. Just want to say a huge congratulations on reaching 200 episodes. What a fantastic achievement. Now we all know that you run the wonderful casting views as well as Co hosting your new podcast Gaming views.
But what would you say has been your most memorable episode so far? And don't worry, I won't get offended if it's not one of ours. All joking aside, congratulations on the achievement. Thank you, Seth. So he's he's a lovely guy as well. He's. Got a voice that you could fall asleep to. It's just beautiful, isn't? It it, it is he's got a wonderful way with with his microphone, which also sounds dodgy, right?
I'm going to pick two if I can. And I know this sounds like a cop out, but I am going to pick one with him in. And the reason being is he was my first guest on Casting views. So I think pretty early on I'd kind of spotted him as a like a pop culture kind of podcast and I started messaging him and we've been talking for a while. So I think, yeah, I think that one mainly because he was my first guest and we, you know, obviously we'd not had a guest and that's quite a big thing.
And I think we'll go back to the the Oasis one. I know it's a repeat, but just because of the shambles beforehand it. Yeah, it was just a combination of everything in that episode. Well, I mean, you know, I was trying to to say was I was trying to think the whole way home, how do I ask someone if I'm going to be a guest on their show or they're coming on mine? That was the other thing that was playing through my head. So yeah, those are the 2. So yeah, thank you, Satsu. Very good.
And, and I guess when Satsu was your first guest, it must have been successful because you kind of built everything going forward on the conversations that you have with the guests, which what makes casting views, I think. I love talking to people, you know, So that was just once I realised that and then I fell in with the brain trust ultimately. Well, I've got some things I want to say later on that. So yeah, I just, I just love talking to people and I think
stories, right? It's life's all about stories, isn't it? So yeah. Absolutely. Now I've put this one next. Not a member of the Pub Pack collective, but goodbye because the question is quite similar. But you, you'll brace yourself because this message is epic in every proportion. So this is just him from the movie you are. Dan Dan casting views 200 episodes Wow.
Justin from the movie wire Dan, I just want to start by saying there are so many things to say about what a great, wholesome, special and lovable person you are to the point that I could do a miniseries about, but I'm sure that I'm on a time constraint. I'm on a limit. I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, from my time on your show, our text, our conversations, to the oh so short time we spent together with you visited Seattle, especially over morning viewers
on the waterfront. I'll bring me a minute intermission after seeing a naughty musical. But anyway, I just want to say that you as a person and the dedication that you put into podcasting is nothing short of amazing. But more importantly, the friendship and kindness that you brought to me.
This I will always cherish. You have turned casting views into a stay up a staple of you inviting people the pleasure of getting to know you from your thoughts, the people that you invite in. And this is the true treasure of you and your show. I love you buddy. And I do have a question for you, Dan, other than your intentions after morning beers on the waterfront and offering me a mentoring a naughty musical. My question is what is the most memorable experience during your
time podcasting? And congratulations, Dan on 200 episodes. And here's the 200. Read more. Wow, wow, it's. A roller coaster, isn't it? He's lovely, he's lovely. And yeah, I got to meet him in Seattle, which was wonderful. And yeah, he treated me and my wife to theatre show, which he and his wife also, they didn't tell it, they said they just got it for us and was funny very quickly. So he bought 4 consecutive tickets, which obviously we didn't know. He gave me and my wife 2.
What we didn't know was they were separated. So it's it's like odds and evens on either side. So my wife was on one side and I was on the other and I said it's fine, we'll meet up at the intermission. Then they came in and so two of us are on one side, two of us were there. So it was me and him on our side and my wife and his wife on the other side. And yeah, it was a bit of a risque 1. So we just kept looking at that. And then, yeah, we had that
morning. It was like an 11:00 beer, which is unheard of for me. But yeah, lovely guy, lovely guy. Thank you, Justin. Most memorable experience. Again, what I think what I'm going to allude into what you just said before this is and I know a lot of people say it and I've said it, but it's it is been the meeting of the people. It's you know, it's a community. It's the fact that you know, you and I been what'sapping for, you
know, for a couple of years now. You know, the fact that the pod pack collective, you know, I've I've been speaking to them for a few years. I've I've met a few. So I've met Antonio at the culworthy, Josh Wilson and Amanda Wilson came over. I've met them planning to meet yourself. It's just been the brilliant people that I've met. It's just been wonderful. I mean, I'm very much a people person and this episode is
getting to me right. You know, I'm finding this a bit difficult, but it is honestly it's it's a people everyone who's been on. I've loved everyone and you know, the just the, the chats that we have, you know, and the support that you'll give me and that you've give me. I find out truly been astounded in that bit. Yeah. Nice. I always say when people ask me about indie podcasting, I'm like, it's the only bit of Twitter which is good. Yeah. It's not a sex bit, No.
Yeah. Well well that that voice clip came through from Justin and I think my computer auto renamed it to Careless Whisper. I was like, what? Is Justin saying here? And then I realized, yeah, the Swiss ball was in the middle of it. So thanks for that Justin. Now I've got 2 messages here from 2 podcasters you know very well. Not to brag, but I do know them a little bit better. My Co host from the Game Club podcast go in touch with you.
One of them with a question, one of them with a message. So we'll start with Tim with his message. It's casting views 200th episode wow wow wow wow wow wow wow really enjoyed the content that lovely Dan has been putting out for countless hours at this stage. His dinner parties especially have been or lucky something to dinner rather has been especially a highlight for me.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes out from gaming views and and I'm really looking forward to what he comes up with in the future. This has been Tim at when Bimbo on everything and including the game club pod. Lots of love, lovely Dan. Wow. Pretty shameless plug in at the end. Now, thank you, Tim. And then we have Alex, who, I'm warning you, gives you some choice adjectives here, Dan. So this is Alex from the Game Club podcast.
There's a lot of words I could use to describe the lovely Dan. Kissable, fuckable, fuckable, but more than that, he's an incredible podcast horse and one of the most lovely people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He's kind, he's patient, he likes long walks on the beach and cuddling by the fire, and his taste in music is almost imbecable. We don't call him lovely Dan for nothing. So listen to casting views, gaming views and anything else with Dan in it.
You will not be disappointed. Now my question for you, Dan, if you could have anyone in the world, alive or dead on for an episode of your podcast, who would it be and what would the episode be? Congratulations on 200 episodes. Here's to 200 more. Thank you, Alex. Can I say he? I've not met him in person yet, but he he looks immensely huggable and as and when I do meet him I'm just going to run up to him and give him a big hug. He's not. He's not worth it. I'm only joking.
Alex, you are immensely huggable. Immensely huggable. I'm going to cheat, but again, it's my show so I can I'm going to pick two and this is easy. I might have inadvertently mentioned it on one show where somebody said what about you? One would be no fielding I. Think you might have mentioned that in the gaming views very recently. Might have done, actually. I told you my memory is shocking. This. If I start redoing all my episodes again, it's not intentionally.
It's my memory. And it would be Kurt Cobain would be another one. Why? Just I remember at the time, I think, did I say to Griffin, I can't remember at the time, sort of in my my teens. I remember you, you know, you have your ups and downs, don't you? And I remember finding his music and really liking Nirvana and then the whole thing with his, his tragedy. And I just really, just really love his voice, his music. You know, you wonder what could
have happened. So I just would have loved to hear some of the stories. I mean, he didn't have a great upbringing. I've been to a couple of exhibitions of his that tell the story. And yeah, I think I would just love to understand his reason for music and. Just to chat, yeah. Yeah, just to chat. Just to chat with Kirk Bay. Yeah, and I'd I'd have one of the Gallagher brothers if they bought tickets for their gigs round so. When when you said two, I thought Liam and Noel Gallagher
would be the two. No, well I'm I'm still in a huff with not getting tickets for the gig. So if they want to bring tickets over. Well, Dan, I've got a surprise for you at the end of the I don't sorry to build you up there, but we do have another message here. This is our penultimate message, Dan, and this is from a duo that you've add on separately and you've guessed on their podcast. This is the middle-aged podcast. Hi, Dan, it's the middle-aged broadcast.
It's me raging Rich and me TA Shalano. We just wanted to say congratulations on 200 episodes of casting, views and absolutely incredible achievement. Dan, tell us what haven't you covered in the 1st 200 episodes? That you want. To cover in the next 200. Oh, and Mrs. Shalano says, are you Team Knoll or Team Liam? We've got a double question there. Let's start with Team Noel or Team Liam. Team Liam. Team Liam, are you going to explain yourself for a year? Just it's his voice.
OK, Weirdly, I've actually met Noel. I met him on a holiday. But yeah, it's, it's all about Liam's voice, me and that whole front man swagger. So yeah. OK, cool. What haven't I covered? Well, you know about the whiteboard I've got, don't you? It's empty at the moment, but I've got a whole host of things I haven't done yet, but one I really want to do. And it's it's funny because music has been quite prevalent in this conversation. I want to do a month on Britpop. Nice.
So the classic heyday, you know, the 90s and early 2000s. So I want to do a month of Britpop. Yeah, yeah. Well that's 4 episodes planned for you already, so only 196 to go down. I've just got to plan it, yeah. Right, so we're on to our final message. Been 15 of them down. So you can put the the tissues down, dry your eyes. Would it be a loving with the lovely Dan from Casting Views without the lovely Josh from Talking Smack? Hello, the lovely Dan. This is Josh from Talking Smack.
As someone who recently also came upon 200 episodes for their podcast, the realization that that's four years worth of work, four years worth of editing, four years worth of promoting on social media, four years worth of networking. But more importantly, that's four years of knowing you and the friendship and support and everything that comes with it that you bring to not only your podcast, but to the people
around you. And there's a reason you are called the Lovely Dan, and it's because there's no other way to describe you. Your podcast, the energy, the joy, the life you bring to the work you put out, it is truly inspiring. It is truly lovely. I don't have much else to say other than high praise. Thank you. And how much I appreciate you being involved in my life, let alone just being in my pod
catcher. So lovely Dan. Congratulations on 200 episodes, I look forward to many more to come and continuing to just be your friend and getting to know you and watch you grow as not just a podcaster but as a person. And congratulations again, take care. Much love. Oh, isn't he lovely? He really is. He really is. He's such a nice guy.
He should have finished it with Forget about it though, Dan, the people I reached out to, every single one of them got back to me. There was no case of sending messages to people who didn't. Everyone was really keen to get back to you. And I think it's testament as, as a lot of them have said, how lovely a person you are, how easy you are to speak to and how good your podcast is. So as a podcaster, as a friend, as was going to say, a lover
them, but that might be weird. As a lover, we'll throw it in. Just. Wanted to say thank you and congratulations on 200 episodes. And it's a bit more than that really because you're doing gaming views as well. So, so there's more than 200. It made me laugh when Tim said countless hours, but you started the episode saying there's seven
straight days of damn. But genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, it fills me with joy every time you ask me to come on. And if you don't ask me to come on every Sunday when Casting views drops, I get the notification. And I think I'm a bit annoyed that I have to wait till Monday to listen to this. So I do my best on the Sunday. But Casting views being in my feed every week is is a staple of my week and I look forward to it continuing with this and with gaming views going forward.
So just massive thank you and massive congratulations. I thank you know, Yeah, getting a bit lost for words, which is not great for a podcaster. No. Thank you so much, Joey. I mean, I have to reiterate what I said at the start. I didn't know what you were going to do tonight and I was just hoping you would ask me a few questions, like do a mind wipe on me or something. As someone that I don't, I don't take compliments very well.
So but, but, but what I mean by that, it's been, you know, it's been wonderful to hear that. But you know, I've not looked at you much during this recording because I find it difficult to, to kind of hear nice things be said about me and, and keep eye contact. But yeah, look, I, I just want to say thank you firstly to you for arranging all this. You, you know, the trouble you've gone to and thank you so much to everyone that has given a message.
It's again, I know it sounds everyone says it, but it has been the people that have kept me going. I think this much. I mean, I, I think it's no coincidence that I've really turned into a lot of those interview episodes in recent months, you know, like the mind wiping and the and the din party, because I just love doing this and I love talking to people.
And you know, like I said, the amount of inane Whatsapps I send you, and I'll probably send you about 60 Tik Toks a day, and that's not an understatement, but you respond. It might take you like a week, but you respond to everyone. Had to get a dig in there as well, didn't you? No, I send you the patience that some of you have with me as well, because yeah, I do send you about 20 or 30 Tik Toks a day. And I'm like, I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking, should I send this to him?
And I'm like, yeah, why not? I'm glad it's that way around. Honestly, it's thank you to everyone. Yeah, you do. Well, I do often, you know, I go through real periods of sort of like self doubt about the podcast, Like, am I doing it? You know, how is it? Is it good thing that is it something people want to hear? But I then end up saying, look, you know, even if nobody was to listen to it, the fact that I get to speak to you on this one.
I've spoken to Cindy Seismic, you know, the fact that I've got another one now, the gaming views where I'm doing it with the best mate. You know, I'm getting to spend sort of quality time with a good person and a good friend every week. Yeah. I, I, I couldn't be without this now. Yeah. Good. Well, Dan, that is my section over. I'm going to hand you back the reins. You don't have to do another intro for casting views. You've done 2, had two in this episode.
I'm going to sit back now and I'm going to let you do your thing. All I had was a few thank yous and and I always find this difficult because, you know, you don't want to miss anyone out and, and, and offend anyone, but I just want to call out some specific people. So firstly, again, thank you to you for doing this and for everything you've done. A huge thank you to everyone who's given a message. So thank you to each and everyone of you. Dan, HI, want to start with him
now, my Co host on gaming views. I've already said he's an incredible friend. He's one of the nicest people you meet and he's got so much energy for this. It's like, you know, sometimes where we've all been there, where you get that burnout or you start getting that. I said self doubt. He's just coming in like, oh, we're going to do this, we're going to do this.
And you, you know what? He's what he's doing with the YouTube. So he should have been brilliant for me. And that's a thank you to to him. Dan S. He was my Co host on casting reflections on Black Mirror. So again, he was he was another sort of colleague from work who who's become a friend. I've loved doing that. We've still got to finish that. So Yep, Dan, you've you're still not off the hook yet. And yeah, but thank you to every guest ultimately has been on the show.
I'm not going to list them all so so don't because we'll probably be here to episode 215. But yeah, thank you to every guest, whether it's been a normal episode or dinner party mind wipe, but then some special thank you. So the group of people that came, you know, into my world in in terms of really took me under their wing as such was I've I've referred to them already. It's a brain trust. So it's a group of really lovely people. They kind of invited me into their their group at the start
and it was really supportive. So you've got Antonio at the Colt Worthy. Such a nice guy. When I flew to Vegas, where where me and my wife got married, he flew down. He lives in Utah or the state, Utah. He flew down to meet us in Vegas and he just, yeah, we had a wonderful meal and I got very drunk that night. So yeah. Antonio Coeurver, he's also done some like the the main thumbnail for my show. He did that along with some other bits of pieces. So yeah, thank you, Antonio.
Justin at the Movie Wire. You've heard from him. He's done a lot of my thumbnails as well. I mean, actually I should say thank you again to you because you've taken out over from doing the majority of them. But Justin had done a lot. He's been on my show. He was, he's a Co host for the pilot views, which is a show I've loved doing. And actually one of my memorable bits, I should have said also was the skit for the Office episode. I love doing that.
I I really lived my Michael Scott in a Michael Scott. So yeah. And Justin and just being a lovely guy and meeting him. Josh and Amanda are super familiar with the Wilsons. They they came over here to meet up with some people and have a holiday and I met with them again, wonderful people. And Josh has done the intro and outro to cast in view. So the music you hear was done by him. Karen and Anne at Sugar Coated
murder. Again, two of the nicest people you would ever speak to. And they sent me and my wife a couple of gifts over from can't remember which Carolina, I think South Carolina. So they sent me, they sent us a couple of gifts for our wedding. So that was lovely. Josh and the rest of his crew over at Talk is Smack. I mean, Josh, he's a wonderful person, but has the most wonderful hair as well. I'm, I'm incredibly jealous of
that. I was recording within Friday night and it was, it was brilliant. So and all the talkie smack crew there. Yeah. And Jay and Kay at the Fuck My Work Life podcast, I've had them on here. I've been on there. Kay had done some artwork early on when I was trying to get some things on the merch store. And yeah, again, really nice people and thank you to them. There are three members of that whose podcasts are on hiatus,
but I need to call them out. So you've got Brendan at Unsheft who he was the one who I started talking to and he brought me in to that group. So thank you to him. If if it wasn't for him and me in the the the Brain Trust, you wonder maybe would I have been as successful or had as much fun doing this? Because there was a lot of encouragement from them, Matt and Adam at Decane with the
boys. I mean, we've said I've called Alex huggable, but Matt, if I ever see you, Matt, I'm running straight at you and giving you the biggest hug. OK. And Leo Allen of voluntary input. So he was the one who came on and did the the time travel one, done some really good episodes of him. I've done AI. So done time travel AI. We did medical advances and he came on and gave a really personal account of something his daughter was going through as well at the time.
So thank you to Leo. We've got the pod pack. I think we've mentioned them all right, but you know, you've got Satsu who obviously what a guy, 1st guest. You've got Marie, 2 girls, 1 reusable cup and we needed roads. You've got the boys at Seismic. Thank you to all you Luca. Howdy beans and of course the three of you. I was going to keep you to last, but I've already said thank you to you, Joe, so many times.
And I think, you know, and, and obviously the last thank you has to go to everyone who's listened to the show, everyone who listens, everyone who's subscribed, everyone who follows me, even if you've interacted with me, just a massive thank you because like I said, yeah, this podcast means a lot to me in, you know, in that I just have such great fun meeting people and, and just expressing my thoughts on random topics.
So yeah, just thank you. And yeah, I think I'm rambling now because I think I, I think I'm just, yeah, I'm really surprised with this episode. So thank you. But yeah, ultimately a huge thank you to everyone. Like I said, it's, it's been a journey, as they say. I've got one thing I want to say though, which is feels ironic on this episode, but casting views is going to take a little bit of
a break. We've mentioned gaming views and basically I want to make sure I can spend some time focusing on that with Dan and just put in the full energy into that. Just. Well, yeah, I think we've already done sort of nine episodes, but I'd like to kind of make sure I'm focusing on that with him. I'll be recording in the background. I'm still open for guest appearances, so if you want me on as a guest, reach out to me. It will be back.
It's just a brief pause while I, yeah, while I sort of work on that. And yeah, keep an eye though. They'll probably, or when you're out there probably will be some random things that get released during that time. But yeah, I think that's probably what I want to say. Are you missing 1? What's that? Thanks to Mrs. Casting Views to be releasing you to us every
night, you know. Yeah Mrs. Casting views that's how she's affectionately become known in like between you between myself and the game club pod yeah she she loves this for me as well but she does have to put up with it sometimes like I said those sort of like few 1:00 finishes 1:00 AM finishes and I'm just going on with Cherry I'm just recording or yeah sort of what are we doing at the weekend Why could you what are we doing I think no right. I've got a podcast at the
weekend but yeah yeah. Thank you to her yeah so you're going to say you reached out to her then and she. Refused. I've got a special message for from Mrs. Casting. No I don't. There was a few people in that list that have removed social media that I wasn't able to get hold of, so I was subtly asking for Dan. Oh my God, Dan S is Dan S. Oh yes. Social media, Leo Allen, I filled in a contact form on his website.
But yeah, but everyone that I managed to get in touch with was very happy to be on that journey with you, Dan. Well, well, thank you and like I said, honestly, everyone that you've heard mention, if you're not follow them as well, go go subscribe to them because they're all brilliant shows. My final, final thing will be, so go follow and subscribe to the Game Club pod. Just keep it right now. Gaming Views. Everyone in the pod pack Yeah,
and and listen to gaming views. So I said myself and my my good friend Dan H, you know, we're really trying to do a fun. I think it's all it is kind of very casting views the Internet. But in the gaming world where it's not, you know, we're, we're not necessarily taking anything ultra, ultra serious, but you know, we're trying to think, be informative while having fun at
the same time. If you like deep dives into consoles and personal experiences with nostalgia through the means of meandering conversation, Gaming Views is awesome. I love it. Well, with my age, nostalgia is pretty much all I've got. But no, I appreciate that, Joe. Right. I mean, was there anything from yourself? No, nothing from me. I look forward to hosting your 200th episode for gaming views and I'll be back for your 400th on casting views. Did you hear that, Dan?
Once again, thank you, everyone. Like I said, we'll be on a brief pause, but I will see you soon for another episode of Casting Views. If I want your opinion, I will give it to you.
