Who the hell is Soly? I have no idea who Soly is. But you know what? You are Soly for two seconds and that's it. All right. So in this week's rewatch we are watching Sektars. Sektars? No, Sektars. I say that right, Dwayne? Yeah, you did. I was going to say Sentars so you can correct me. You were going to sing. That's what you were going to have. You were going to sing. That's what I heard. Yeah. Okay. I sing it but I'm really singing the Brave Star song. Exactly. It's not saying Brave Star.
I say Sektars. Sektars. Sektars. Wings of a fly, legs of a roach. Is that really the song? No. Brave Star. Brave Star. Brave Star. He's making it up. I would tell you. I was sort of like Peter from Spider-Man. Got it. Got it. I was going to ask Dwayne to sing the Brave Star song but he only knows it in Spanish. He only knows it in Spanish. Oh, I would love to hear it in Spanish. He says he's saying it on Brave Star guys so for those of you who haven't watched it, please go back and watch it.
It was aired last week actually. Yes. Oh, wait. No. It was aired a couple of weeks ago. Nothing out. So yeah, so we're watching Sektars. Now some of you may wonder what Sektars is. Yeah, I have no idea either. So you know, somewhere in space, somewhere in time, I had to read it so I'm reading it. A planet called Symbion is the site of a pho-genetic experiment. So everybody basically got turned into bugs. Got it. It's a big giant paragraph but everybody got turned into bugs.
And then you have the good guy which is Prince Dragon, Dragon, fighting against the evil general Spidrax. Okay. Yeah, there's a lot of bug puns in this cartoon. Okay. So I remember the cartoon but I don't remember a lot about it. What I do remember is the toys, I believe you two told me, both of you guys, that's what I meant, was that one of the toys where you put your hand in it and it figures right on it. The were a puppet. Yeah, the puppet. Yes. Mm-hmm. So, yeah.
And we'll talk a little bit about toys. I think that's something we can bring up at the end of the, after we watch it. Okay. They were not unique, weren't great. And the cartoon really wasn't something to stand out. We'll talk about it but they only lasted for, they only did a mini series. It was five episodes and that was it. Really? Five? Five. I thought it was just five. Nope, just five. So that's all we're getting.
So another, unfortunately for us, this is going to end on another cliffhanger. Is it really? Yeah, you are sharp because it's five parts. So, yeah. Yeah, that's right. But action picks up kind of fast. So we're watching the first episode which is Spy Drax Attacks. So Spy Drax which is the general, the bad guy, voiced by somebody very familiar.
So if you've heard, if you've watched this cartoon for our listeners, you'll know the voice of the, there's a lot of familiar voices if you're a child from the 80s. Yes. So, Spy Drax forces destroyed the sectar's village and steal a map that could take them to the planet's power source. So that's what this show's about. And that's what we'll be watching. All right, cool. All right. So before we go there, let's top on our DeLorean and let's go back in time.
So this episode aired on a Saturday in September 14, 1985, which is exactly 38 years, seven months and two days. Yeah, I know, right? We are almost there. Just time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping. And the future. So the only fun fact, again, we've, if you do a cartoon from the 80s, you're pretty much in the same freaking three years. So I don't have too much news, but I will point out what the number one song in the US and Europe are.
Number one song, which I personally think it's a great song from a great movie, So Lo's Fire, Man in Motion. So I know, I know Frank, do I remember it? Of course. You remember the movie, right? I remember the movie, but I'm not sure. Like songs stuck to you. Yeah. It was the main song of the movie. Yeah. And what's the name one? The Brad Pack, were they? Were they? The Brad Pack. The Brad Pack name? Yeah. Yeah, the Brad Pack is, that's Frank Sinatra. Wayne Martin. D. Martin. Seminevus Juniors.
Today, you're Seminevus Juniors. Frank Sinatra. Sinatra, and there's one more. Whichever you should get. D. Martin? No, D. Martin. No, I mentioned D. Martin. Yeah, D. Martin, Frank Sinatra, Seminevus Juniors, and one other person. I want to say Joe Lewis, but that's a boxer, so maybe he's Joe something. But let's go to the point. This one, he was talking about the Brad Pack, which is Debbie Moore, Milo Estevez, was Phiney Kates. John Nelson. John Nelson. Molly Renoir.
Molly Renoir was part of that. She's not in this movie, but she was part of the Brad Pack. And the guy, the most famous one of them are Rob Lowe. Rob Lowe. Yes. So that was a Brad Pack. But yeah, it's a good movie. I enjoyed it. And the number one song in Europe was Dancing in the Streets. Rick Ashley. No, not this time. It was David Bowie and Mink Jagger dancing in the streets. That's awesome, man. Well, Roli, I don't know if you knew this, but I did not.
Two of the main voice actors in this cartoon that we're going to talk about, Peter Collin and Frank Walker, which I did not know. Because keep in mind, I really don't remember this cartoon. I know of it, but not 100%. And of course, we all know Peter Collin, Optimist Prime, but I did not know this, buddy. And I'm pretty sure you and Dedu, but did you know he was the voice of Clark? Yes. Yes. I did not know that he was Nemesis enforcer, which I did not know that as well.
I mean, not like he said much. He just, they were just grunts. That is true. That is true. But I did not know he was what's called an arm Clark, because I remember Clark. And then of course, my favorite, because he was the voice of Megatron, right? We got Frank Walker. He did Megatron. He did Dr. Claw, which I did not know that. And here was another one that I was surprised. Then you ready? He did Drew B. Did you know that? No. Yes, I did. All right. But now when is the walking sacrapenia?
So he probably knew that. That is true. He did Slown the Waves. I can do the Clark. Very good. Okay. It is Drew next turn. He was dark side on Super Friends. And he was in the movie Transformers. The sucky one. He was the, was it Soundwave? The one who was on the satellite? Yeah. It was Soundwave. Yeah, he was Soundwave. On that one. Then later on, Soundwave became the car. On the suckier one. They just get suckier and suckier. Dark side of the moon. Dark side of the moon.
Yes. But do you guys remember our cartoon called Jackie Chan's Adventures? Yes. I actually really enjoyed that cartoon. There was an Earth Demon. Dying, dying ghoul. Apparently, Frank was the voice of that Earth Demon, which was in season 2 and 3 of Jackie Chan, which I really did enjoy that cartoon. I thought it was cool from what I remember. I'm going to see if I can look it up and see if we can find an episode. Did I tell you I met Jackie Chan? Yes, you did. I was there with you.
I met him so many times in New York City. He was everywhere. Yes, I was there with you. Every freaking person he saw in Chinatown. I thought I was going to get a job then. I thought I was going to get a job. And that's because of this guy. We still had fun. I did see Eddie Murphy though. I was in Denzel Washington, I forget. I was scared to ask. I'm scared to ask. It's alright. Alright, so... Wait, wait, wait, wait. I'm out of this. But wait, but wait. There's more. There's more. There's more.
In 85, well, if we're not moving tickets, we're $3.55. Hey, that's expensive. A big Mac value meal, right? $2.59. Am I dead? Am I dead? Is he still refusing? Am I dead? Is he still refusing by anyone? Exactly. We had the bills. We had the bills at home. Yes. But here's the one that I do remember. I'm sure we all do. Remember New Co? Yes. No, I remember Old Co. Oh man, I remember when New Co came out, everybody flicked. And believe it or not, obviously, it was a colossal fail, right?
And they released it in 85 and they got it in 85, man. You know what I mean? And that was also the year that pretty much put Jerry... Boom. On the board, man. Yeah. But that was the year that New Co came out, man. And I remember it. It was awful. It was awful. Yeah, it was just sweet. It was just sweet. It was like Pepsi. Yeah, I was never a fan of Pepsi, man. Mountain Dew, yes, but not Pepsi. Man. And guess what, buddy? That's what I got. All right. That's it. We'll come back to...
We'll stay in 1985 while we watch our cartoon. Dwayne, do you have any fun facts? No, no fun facts. All right. All right. So, Frank, let's make it happen, Captain. All right. I can't start until... Now, one thing about this is, this reminds me of when the whole symbiote in the air today, I'm thinking of a venom. Okay. Because everybody's just mutating everywhere. Also, I felt like this is a really long intro. Did you guys get that feel? No, not really. Really? It feels like it's a long intro.
I told you that the bad guy was really black. He's like purple. Yeah. Yeah. And as soon as I heard him speak, so... So yeah. So, like I mentioned, they only did five. It's kind of like a weird... I'm not sure how I feel about the bugs. They're just trying to do like he-man. They're trying to do like he-man and kind of action with G.N. Joe. But with bugs. But with bugs. So many bugs. And they... What mutated them? They were doing genetic experiments.
And apparently, somebody must have dropped a vial and they all became... It just took over the whole... Must have been the same scientist, the dad from Jason the Wheel Warden. He must have been on this planet. After he messed up over his planet, he's like, I gotta get God to hear. And he applied for a job on this planet. His suit strikes again. And his father strikes again. His suit's fucked it all up. Yeah, bro. And they fucked up this planet too.
So the good thing about this cartoon, it starts off pretty quick though. They're like, the old farmers are out there. Yeah, the farmers are out there doing the little farming. And then all of a sudden, a bunch of bugs come and they start lighting, burning up everything. They're burning the whole freaking village. So you got actions right there. This is the future? Or... Yeah, this is the future? No, this is another planet. It's another planet. And another time.
Okay. Somewhere in space, somewhere in time. They didn't even try. They didn't even try to come up with a backstory. It's like, somewhere in the future, someplace on space, somebody fucked up and everybody's are bugs now. That's why there's only five episodes. That's why there's only five episodes. Because from what I remember, from what I remember, some channel remember here, here and there. It was impossible to remember.
I remember seeing a freaking, like, silver city and then all of a sudden, the scientists, like nobody dropped anything from what I remember. It just, something might have haywired and freaking out. All of a sudden, the city started glowing and everything around them started freaking mutating. Yeah. They explain it in the intro. The intro showed what happened. Yeah, so yeah, but that's basically what it is though, right?
So it would show the nice city and it would show scientists working and then all of a sudden, it was like, boom, they start roting, they start mutating out. And they get atlers. Like little antennas. That's pretty much it. Like they showed you some people. I guess all the bad people automatically are weird because all the good people look kind of humanoid, but just with antennas, which I don't know how they put on their helmets.
Like, do they put on their helmets one antenna at a time or what's going on there? Well, no, no, no, the helmets have holes in them, so the antennas can just throw it. It's a small hole, though. Wow. And do you know who's, do you know who's from this planet, too? So this is in the same cinematic universe as marble. So Mantis from marble, from, um, get out of here. She's from this planet. Oh snap. That's pretty cool, man. It was, especially if it was true, but it's not.
Oh my God. You have the same spirit. Snap black, Bimbi. That's not what it is. It is. Fucking hilarious. All right. All right. So back, back to where we're at. Bro, I would not have believed you if you would have not said anything. I would have been embarrassing. You're like, dropping knowledge. Hey, did you know Sektar was part of the, you know, the Guardians of the Galaxy Mantis was part of that show. She looks just like it. So she does.
Yeah. So, um, so again, we're starting off with a lot of action here. Um, good cartoon. Well, again, going back to these cartoons, this cartoon particular, I don't see a lot of errors. Like in G.I. Joe, I swear I got some bone people. The some, some ball. Yeah. So from, yeah, they, they were lazy ass. And it just wanted to, huh? Freaking cartoons out, dude. Yeah. I guess let's be like, yeah, we're only doing five. Let's put a little effort into it.
Um, but yeah, I mean, you got to watch all five. And it's, it's not bad. You got a little, also another one where they kind of mix medieval. So now that they're all bugs, they reverted back to like castles and so they went from scientists trying to cure something to like medieval castles with swords. They fight with swords, but every once in a while, somebody has a more phaser they take out. Okay. Doesn't make, doesn't make any sense. Um, talking. Yeah. Go ahead. It's medieval.
Yeah. They were in the most basic sense. They were a futuristic type of civilization. Mm-hmm. Then when they got mutated, they, I told it, it tends to be nothing like there was no slower, freaky over. It's just all of a sudden something went wrong. The whole city glue and then everybody mutated. You really, you really fascinated with the glowing part, huh? The glowing part. Well, because you made a point and I'm like, at least with Jesus, there was a reason why this happened.
Because you were dead. Yeah. And dad didn't always do it. Like I think I did something here too. But I'll say the chart. He's like, he came over here. Jesus, that came over here and he's like, oh, let's try this. He goes, oh, I don't know. I'm not going to believe you anymore because you did the whole mantis. He thinks I just don't get it. The dad is like, I don't know. I don't work in plants. Let's try some bugs. Boom. I just don't like the brother.
The brother messed up another planet and he's off. Let's see where he goes next. Okay. And then they revert back to a stone age time. Why should I say stone age? Middle ages. No. Yeah. Middle ages time. Why are you talking? Why is it so like you talk about visionaries? Visionaries another one. Yes. But they had more, they had more tech though. These people don't have much tech. I don't know why they still have some tech. Like they only have phasers. That's all they got.
Where are they getting the little phasers from? So okay, so they have swords and phasers? Yes. Okay. I can dig that. I can dig that. And now right now, right now we're showing that that's a young guy. That's the annoying young guy. He's like, hey, I can help you. We can kill everybody. He goes, I like that attitude. Okay. When can I join? And the other guy is like, minimum arms is like, bro, you're a kid. Go away. And he's too dangerous. It's too dangerous for you. So you know what the kid does?
What do they do? Goes anyway, because of course, no matter what kids are stupid. So he's going to go anyways and guess what's going to happen when he goes. So this is going to happen. What do you think? What do you think is going to happen? He's going to capture it. He's going to get captured, right? And he's going to be baited. Okay, predictable, predictable. Okay. So now he's talking about the bad guy, general, sir, sir, that's not really dark blue in dude, right? Yeah, he's purple.
He's purple. Okay. Spidrax. Spidrax. If you hear his voice, sounds familiar. That is because he is played by the same voice actor that does Destro in G.I. Joe. Really? Yes. Also interesting. I know we were, we were talking about the other famous, the other famous name. But that was Arthur Burgwitt Hart and I'm mispronouncing his name. So yes, he's also by the way, he's also one of your favorite characters in G.I. Joe. I mean, sorry, Transformers. Me? Yes. You, sir. Really?
Yes. I'm going to have to look that up. Who is it? Who's your favorite character in Transformers? I love Soundwave. Okay. He's bigger. Oh, Devastator. He's Devastator. Yes. He's a voice actor. Really? Yes. Oh, he's a great character. He's done a lot of things. So he's also Venom. He done a few, a few things. So all right, so let's go back to the cartoon now. The bad guy, the kid, the kid just shows up, right? The kid just shows up. He's like, I'm going to go, what happened?
Are we supposed to press play? Are we still in the pre-episode section? Well, I am. We are nine minutes and 17 seconds into it. Okay. I got it in press play. Nobody said to press play. I think Frank said to press play. He did? I didn't hear him. What did Frank, what did you say? Let's make it happen, Captain. Oh, you did. You did. You did. You did? Okay. So a annoying kid. So go 10 minutes. The annoying kid walks into the base because he thinks he's invisible and he gets captured right away.
So the general's like, get him. We'll use him as bait and add extra guards. You know what happens when you add extra guards? Nothing. The good guy is still walking without problem. It's just like the anime, they don't make mistakes in animation, but the storytelling in this cartoon is terrible. So I'm looking at the bad guy. He is not freaking purple. He is black black. He's got a black hole. You can't see him. He's white.
The only reason why I could see him is because he's a white purple outfit. And I think he was a problem. That's about it. So you're trying to say because you saw his teeth, you know, you were smiling. Go do it and say it. That's what's way to say it. Everybody uses their catchphrase. Everybody uses their catchphrase. So yeah, by the way, we're going to go steal this really important map. Right? So what does it print still? Just bring another guy. That's it.
Just two people to go into the headquarters of the bad guy who has a map for the most important place in the world where their power supply is. Then you bring a dog or something like that. It's like a bug that's kind of like a dog. Well, I've noticed they all have their own personal bugs. Yes. That's how it goes. Okay. Yeah, everybody has their own personal bugs. But those personal bugs are not their vehicles as in how they travel. Yes, there is.
Oh, so that bug turns bigger and then they fly and I mean they ride on them? No, no, that one hasn't grown. He's just a little puppy. Oh, okay. Yeah, he's the snarf of the cartoon. Ah, okay, got you. That makes sense. But not talking though. Just snarf. So these bad guys also have, they suffer from stormtrooper syndrome. Oh, they suck at hitting their targets. Yeah, she's good. Yes. So he can shoot, he shoot a bow and arrow and he goes able to get the map.
But once he starts shooting the regular guns, they can't do anything. They can't do anything. This is the worst rescue attempt ever that I've ever seen. So this is the, right now the, so the prince has his main fly. His name bug is, he's the one they flies on. Okay. But the guy he brought with him, he doesn't have a flying one. He just has a little puppy. He's also a puppy, not the main dude. No, no, not the prince. Oh, he's the prince, the main dude. Oh, yeah, he's the prince.
Yeah. So, and now see, are you watching to have old ships, sailboats, they probably have candle lights. It's confusing. You know, this reminds me of the way, which is the barbarian, right? Yes, they were advanced in the future and now somehow they're done again. Oh, look, it's a female bug. And what's her hair color? It's red. Thank you. It's the 80s, baby. It's the 80s. And I know you were checking out her ass when she was walking. Of course I was.
Do you think when they have sex they rum and tantalize together? You know what? Am I just thinking, thinking too much. TMI, TMI. All right, all right. Just wondering. So, yeah, the world is just crap. Too much bugs for me personally. Now they're crossing a river that's red. Completely red, yes. Wine or blood? I want. Now, why are they can fly? Why do they need to take a boat? Thank you. Then do they need to sell the boat? Is that why? Like the toy was going to be a boat?
Usually there has to be a reason why. Do the bugs get tired? Do the little wings get tired? I don't know. And then the gun for hanging. Yes, they just also, they tied them to the freaking post of the ship. But I like the general's purple outfit though, he's got a little style. I do think it's a little racist that he's black and they give him a purple suit. And they're going to stand out a little bit. And he's like the pin of everyone. He slaps everyone around. Their eyes just start to glow.
Their eyes are glowing, yes. They're communicating. They communicate that way. Fun fact though, they can't see in the dark. But the bad guys can see in the dark. Okay, so the good guys can not see in the dark, but the good guys can. Yes. You're probably wondering why do the bad guys just attack at night? Exactly. Instead of having a ship out of the rocks. Bad guys in the dump. So also they communicate whoever's on that, whoever's, it looks like whoever's on that island.
It's playing a music to them that's drawing them. So they hypnotize. That's why their eyes are like that. Oh, they're playing the harp. Yes. Technically, I think they're spiderwebs because they're being caught. I was just about to say they look like spiderwebs. Yes. Oh, and guess what hair color. Oh, she's a redhead. Welcome to the 80s. Yes. Oh, this is a mom was she looks like somebody black or a female version of another villain.
Oh, she looks like the female version of the bad guy from Voltron. What's the guy's name? The King something. It's King's Arkham. King's Arkham. She looks like she's like his sister. You know the Google that Frank the encyclopedia said. Yeah, no, we got it. We're good. Yeah, Encyclopedia said it. But yes, and you don't have to Google it for real. That's a sister. You don't have to. You can believe me. I never lied to you.
Yeah, no. I'm not gonna believe you because all I see now and I'm waiting for is for freaking the butt girl from our. Guardians of the Galaxy. The Galaxy. Yes. He was there. I'll show it to you earlier. Was this in the waitress? No, no. I'll show you their different color. Time to fly. So now he's fighting a sparing woman and he has a gun. See what I'm talking about? Yeah, with the sword. With the sword. With the sword. That's the sword. That's the sword. Yeah, so small.
And it's cool how he rescues the bugs first. But not that he has friends. Instead of his friends, what does he leave behind? Oh, no, he rescues it, but he gets the bugs first because he's one of those who likes the bugs over people. So. Not a fan. Are you guys enjoying this so far? It's alright. You know what I mean? There's a reason it was only five episodes. Yeah, that's for sure. That's for sure. It's good. No, so one thing I also noticed, I think I had more.
I don't know, when that guy talks his mustache moves up and down. One thing I noticed is I think I had more toys. That little dog one, I think I had that one too. Did you really? No, never had the toys. Never had the toys. I don't know why I got the toys. Maybe it's on the birthday. Yeah, that's why I only got stuff on my birthday. I'm not Frank, I don't steal my toys. I have no idea what you're talking about. Sorry, sorry, never you Frank. I have another friend named Frank.
Exactly. No, name Frank. You guys look alike, but. Did you notice that green bug that's in the ditch, the mouth is a drill? Yeah. See if it was a drill. And he's just eating through the rocks. And I think I'm going to use them, we're going to use them as a drill to go underneath to Lord Zarkon's, oh wait, wrong bad guy. Tarnikeetruckle, all these bad guys that look alike. It was not. The little pimp daddy, the little pimp daddy that he is right there. What's his name? Spandex? Spiderman.
Spindex. Oh, so wait, we have, what's the girl's name from Guardians of the Galaxy? The Bungirl. Yeah, we have the Bungirl and we have Drax in this cartoon too. Oh, you saw that? Yeah, Spindrax, that's Spindrax's brother. I'm just trying to link everybody together, huh? This is like basically a prequel to Guardians of the Galaxy. Watch, there's going to be a raccoon at the end. And a witch episode. The fifth episode? Yeah, right at the end, you're not going to watch it, but yes.
Did you notice how the bad guy, he has red eyes, but then his helmet has like three more eyes that make him look like his eyes, like he has like six eyes. The bad guys have red eyes, the good guys have blue eyes. Blue eyes, yes. I wonder why. Well, at least I don't have blonde hair. He does have blonde hair. Oh yeah, the bad guy does. But yeah, this guy, the Prince does, the Prince does, yeah.
But the bad guy looks like he wears his helmet, on his helmet, it makes him seem like he has like eight eyes. I'll put the eyes on him, but he doesn't. Yeah, like, yeah. I wonder what those antennas are for, I guess communicating, I think. Do what we made that clear. Just for nothing. Yeah. And why do all the good guys on Mac who look alike, but the bad guys are all drawn differently? So you should say people are different from you or bad. Is this a message, this cartoon is sending? Message.
I think that's what it is. So the bad guy got away with the map, but they did rescue the annoying kid, and the annoying kid, I'm out of here, I'll get him myself, and he flies off. Guess what happens to the good guy, the kid again. I bet you he gets captured. He gets captured again. Somebody should just shoot him. Is that too much? No, I agree. I do. There's always that one person that needs to be shot. Thank you, I agree.
Wow. He just goes on his own, and then there's the bad guy all the way to the top of the mountain and he yells, he says fire and everybody's being fired upon. And guess what happens? You jack means that the cartoon was just terrible. And you don't want to watch anything else. You want to watch it again. And if somebody tells you parties, what's the worst cartoon you've ever seen, you can easily say Jason, the real warriors. Sure. And then, and then there's gem, which is the other last one, which is the rewind, which is a purpose of our podcast. So rewind is a cartoon that you really enjoyed that you would revisit.
