Episode description

Sour Diesel: Classic Fuel for Creative Fire

Cannabinoid Profile:

Sour Diesel — aka Sour D — is a legendary sativa-dominant hybrid (about 70% sativa) with a cult following that’s lasted decades. Born from Chemdawg × Super Skunk, its THC usually lands between 19–25%, with most cuts sitting around a lively 20–22%. CBD is practically nonexistent, but the bright, long-lasting head buzz is what makes it iconic.

Terpene Lineup:

Sour Diesel’s signature punch comes from high caryophyllene, adding spicy fuel bite; limonene, layering in a citrus snap; and myrcene, grounding it with subtle herbal calm. Pinene often tags along, giving it that nose-tingling diesel and pine finish.

Flavor & Aroma:

Crack open a jar and it’s unmistakable: sharp diesel fumes up front, tangy citrus undercurrents, and an earthy skunky backdrop that sticks to your palate long after the exhale. Not subtle — but that’s the point.

How It Hits:

This strain hits fast and hits bright: an uplifting, electric head rush that sparks creativity, social talk, and a sense of get-up-and-go. It’s a classic wake-and-bake strain for a reason. Expect zero couch lock — but a big dose can make you feel racy or a bit spacey if you’re not used to sativa power.

Good For:

Perfect for busting stress, fatigue, and mild depression. Great for getting through chores, brainstorming, social adventures, or just enjoying music with fresh ears. Not the best bedtime strain — unless you’re planning an all-night jam session.

Looks & Grow Notes:

Dense, bright green buds with fiery orange hairs and a sticky trichome frost. Indoors, Sour D loves lots of light and good airflow, flowering in about 9–10 weeks. Outdoors, it needs a warm, sunny spot to shine — and she’s hungry for nutrients.

Cannabis School’s Take:

Sour Diesel is a timeless classic: pungent, powerful, and guaranteed to flip your mental switch from foggy to fired up. If you want your day to hum and your mood to lift, this is your no-fail sativa fuel.

Welcome to cannabis school. I'm your host Jessie Angeles and I'm Brandon Elder and we're here to talk to you about everything pertaining to cannabis from debate flower Edibles strains and everything in between. Welcome to this week on cannabis School, we're going to talk about talk about Sour Diesel. You know, let's just kind of get this right out of the way diesel. Do you mean this is gonna smell like diesel fuel yeah, diesel fuel with a little lemony hint

so weird, right? I mean all of these different strains of cannabis, like if you smell it, you smell a bunch of it. You're like at all smells the same. If you've been around somebody who's been partaking definitely can smell it on. They're closed. You can smell it in their

breath. That they've got really, like, unfiltered Edibles. When we're talking about this, the smells are quite different and with diesel, you smell this hint of it may be some of you out there, taste fuel, maybe do it regularly, the taste of it is not as strong, but it does have this. Our hands is that were that

lemony type. You taste it or do more, you smell it. You taste it when you smoke at the lemony aftertaste, but you can smell diesel fuel with Lemony undertones in the in the scent as well and they'll be awesome if they're put in that endeavor. Diesel car up there instead of that nastiness we get in the freeway the guy hits it. The big old Track eight pushes on the gas, really hard? No send. You can overwhelming smell of lemon and you're like, oh,

that's refreshing. Yeah, it wouldn't be as bad be like, you know, that's dark but it's refreshing. Yeah, no, I'm okay with that. Keep driving where we at. As far as the properties of is, is a sativa, is it an Indica, as a hybrid Ceci? Atif of dominant strain, fantastic a lot of feelings in your head. Most of the time people are feeling, happy uplifted, euphoric from this string, not a lot of paranoia for being a sativa. You can definitely get that

sativa anxiety. You know, if I found it that the ones are extremely, highly Dost tend to push you more towards that way. Parking. Lots are diesel dish. Several different strains of diesel like OG. Two diesels. Yeah, there's a lot of diesel ones will go over some of them. Some of them are very similar, someone very different but with the sour diesel you definitely feel it. More in the neck kind of upper shoulders.

I've noticed that was sativas, that definitely is Brandon said, it's more of a head feeling on that one and it's not a fog. No, you get a very cerebra one. This one has a lot of creativity with it. So a lot of people use it first thing in the morning. It's an energetic strain. I mean, we've talked about that. The many times about sativa and that it's more of a creative aspect and I started to deduct

that down going. Well, I mean is it like I smoke this and all the sudden I eat this or whatever I do with it? And then you know I'm going to be drawing Mickey Mouse cartoons like really well like Walt Disney if he was alive you like that you need. I mean it says you'll be creative. Not have skill. Yes. Oh so it might draw Mickey mountains but it won't look like the quality of Mickey Mouse.

Maybe Yeah, I do mind wouldn't what I started to think is like I think it just enhances your problem-solving abilities problem solving it isn't necessarily mean that it has to involve life-saving or, you know, maybe getting a promotion or something. You know, if you ever wanted to get that promotion, go ahead and try yourself a little Sour Diesel. All right, then, let that kick in then. Go talk to the boss because then he'll be like this guy knows what he's talking about.

I mean maybe you'll be a little bit more energetic, a little bit more focused and yeah I don't know who this guy is but I'm loving this energy. You got any more thousand a year and a car. Yeah, absolutely. The car is a definite but, you know, I would say on the on, the problem solving aspect is just being able to allow your mind to slow down just a little bit more and taken everything.

So you're able to see if I've got these issues in front of me, I'm trying to be able to solve Sometimes. The best thing is that you got to slow down to speed up and my old business partner, used to say that a lot and it's probably one of the best things that I ever got from him when we think

about sourdough. Don't think about that motivate there is that, that's what you're kind of going for for me to be able to gain a little bit more perspective because I feel that perspective, whenever I protection of Sour Diesel because it makes me feel like okay I can calm down but it's not necessarily common away where I'm going to fall asleep like an Indica but it just goes, okay great. You know, now I can look at things in a different light.

Sometimes, it's easier to step outside of yourself in the situation. Equation and view it from almost a third party perspective. Now, because you can get out of your own way in your own head, and the anxiety, and the stress that we feel. Sometimes, this train is fantastic for that. This is commonly used for stress anxiety, depression, great to to run through that. So yeah, step outside, see a different perspective, have a different creative because you don't have everything else

running to your mind. Utilizing cannabis does allow me to slow life down. Step outside of every little stress anxiety thing. That is going on at the moment and see it from outside of that for more than that. Yeah, absolutely it's it. I like that analogy of it being able to look in the third person once we slow down. So when talking about Sour Diesel, there's so many different ways to consume. You've heard us talk about a lot

of different ways for sativas. I would say that in Elation right now being able to bring it in is by far the most useful. However, I will say that a teacher or an in those who are not familiar with the word teacher. It's a like, a little dropper babbling will tropper. Yeah, yeah. Put it underneath your tongue, but I feel that that one is had by far the most impactful and long-acting for me, it lasts anywhere from like four to six hours. So you would take that over an edible. What?

What makes you lean towards a tincture? Just Just experienced. I mean it's like with certain indicas I would prefer to inhale it as opposed to eating it, but then other indicas I'm like no, I'd rather eat that one. Then then being able to inhale it because that it changes the effect time duration definitely with inhaling. You feel it almost instantly. I would say like maybe 12 second delay with experience comes. A lot of understanding, how your body handle is it how to ingest properly?

Had someone who Ooh, there for the first several months that they were actually smoking. They were pulling it into their mouth, not even into their lungs. So they didn't feel the fully before effects. And the very first time that they fall, he did inhale into their lungs. All of a sudden it was holy cow. This is way different. You know. This experience was totally different. So yeah, that and inhaling cannabis isn't for everybody.

There's been several products will do a whole episode on failed products that didn't come to Market. It was so cool. I don't know how long that one could go for, but how people typically get into this is they'll try a vape pen made with the oil that has a certain mixture of or percentage of THC. That's in there. Usually in G Dy, half gram and that's 1,000 milligrams to 500

milligrams. So when they have that, it's easier for them because one there's no smoke, there's no lighter, there's no heat other than inside the coil. And, you know, they may or may not cough on that one, but I think, People tend to lean towards that one. I know I actually had a inviting experience by trying Vic first after being what? 15 16, 17 years from trying cannabis. I don't know, I mean, you went in with just using flour, right both times.

When I first started, I started with flour. The second time years later, I got into it with flour as well, and it wasn't until maybe a year or two into using cannabis again, that I started seeing Pens in dispensaries. And that's when I started trying pens. Seeing that new introduction to new products as they come out. Yeah, yeah. So, I mean, I kind of gave my feeling on that one. What do you feel the best way is to be able to consume Sour Diesel first thing in the

morning? I would recommend the packs three. Is it look like it's like a is it like a cylinder? It's like a square of cinnamon Square type. Look it's like a square but with rounded edges. Okay. So it's not a hard Square. It it's oh yeah like a soft Square. So it was a marshmallow. Yeah like a marshmallow it makes sense that well I mean I'm very visual so I'm just like okay that. Yeah I've seen him. It's pretty cool. This is the have you ever seen Dave Chappelle?

Yeah. Like the vape pen that he has in his hand that's kind of it looks like that. Yeah. Okay so they're pretty small. You can carry it in your pocket and it's handy basically just bakes that flower at temperature. That doesn't ignite it so you don't get the same card citizens as if you're going to smoke. Hmm. So would you recommend it for somebody who's getting into flour, to start with that, instead of going, right to a piper Bond? Yeah, it's pretty soft.

From one of understanding. Yeah, it's a totally different feeling as well because it is weird baking, it, you have more of an edible feeling, really just a mild that's of what. So what, what could I expect on a price for something like that? X3, I think is around 250, just kind of give you a 250 Kind of give you a little bit of guidance on that one especially if you're looking into getting into flour over there and Sour Diesel sounds like your jam then definitely I would I would

recommend that. I've only heard good things come from you. I mean we've tried several different types of devices and and methods and being able to consume cannabis. So, what would you say is your number two on that? Hmm, I mean, being a sativa being a morning strain like that, with coffee, it's really hard to pass up a bubbler little bubbler. Just a handheld water pipe basically. Okay, so it looks like a hand-blown pipe small.

Yeah. Yes. It's called like a like a Fat Bottomed on it and it's flat on the bottom. But it looks like this, like, bulbous thing underneath the pie. The where you load all your yeah. This has a little Reservoir in there for water. Yeah. Those are, those are pretty cool. I like those that's actually like when you'd introduce more flour to me. That's the first thing I use. I've tried other pipes over there, it's very rough, but that has always been like Like way.

Nice. That's a cool one and it's your CO2. Mine is going to be a, it's either a vape. I would say the teacher droppers, by far my favorite, just the long-lasting feel. I feel more relaxed, but I also feel more engaged. So when I'm asked questions, I'm focusing more on it. Also, I'm not thinking about, I don't get the Mind fog that I can with the, with an Indica because an Indica be a Like

going off on random things. So yeah, you're definitely being able to feel a little bit more on a sour diesel because of that reason alone, but you have to be teacher and then a vape haven't tried a whole lot of Edibles that I really enjoy us at evil eyes. There is one from Wild, they do the fruit ones over there when I was in California for a while. Great product great. Super soft delicious but it hit

pretty hard. I got this phone a lot like teach see no not at all like almost a zero it just tastes like a really delicious homemade fruit snack but mg or those they were 20 wow that's impressive and no flavor. None whatsoever just super soft. Soft. I think the only thing that I would caution on that one is that they're delicious and you will eat more than one. That's my problem is when I make edibles and I'm like oh this chocolate is so good but I don't want to eat.

So yeah those because I know the after-effects you gonna wake me up in a couple days so yeah. Okay so those ones your go to those are my go-to I definitely think that you know, for those who are looking into a sativa strain I feel this one's one of the most mild of the You can get involved with it's definitely, if you're going to go in the flower Direction, that's great.

Just be prepared, for pungent, smells if you're not really cool with that one, even the vape pens, I smell it and I taste it. It's got a very bitter taste to it and by better I don't mean like salty, I'm thinking more on the lines of like if I actually licked a tire that kind of tastes like that to me, I don't know if you have the same experience, I don't remember the

last Sour Diesel pain. That I've had mmm that I've never tried an edible of Sour Diesel, like we've talked about before with Edibles and we'll do a whole thing on Edibles and different ways that they make them and, and ways that you can see their little bit better product. But yeah, definitely. I just never never experienced that sides. I'm thinking that one for those who are looking to get into a new strain of cannabis or getting into the Cannabis at all.

I would recommend this one as I really soft entry. What do Yeah, it's a great daily use great introduction. Awesome. Well, hey guys, again like I said, look in the show notes, you can see over there, the packs that Brandon was talking about. Also find like a butler that's similar to his as well. So you can be able to see that just know that.

I mean, if you're out there being able to get in there used responsibly definitely but also seek the advice of a budtender or a very close friend who's involved in cannabis? Appreciate you guys joining with us and looking Forward to being able to see you guys. Next Tuesday, have yourself a wonderful week. Yeah, have a great week.

You spend the first hour of your vacation at the luggage carousel, thinking, there's nowhere to go, but up, but there is a place to go. But up because when you open your suitcase, you find it filled with dolls dolls, like the ones in that movie that scared you so much. You wet your girlfriend's bed, Marissa The One That Got Away, you return the bag to the airport with relief, it lasts until you get back to your room where a fallen doll waits to greet. You don't let a suitcase full of

dolls. Ruin your vacation. Go on a real vacation go rving. Ng.
