Welcome to cannabis school. I'm your host Jessie Angeles and I'm Brandon Elder and we're here to talk to you about everything pertaining to cannabis from debate flower Edibles strains and everything in between. Alright, welcome back to our Taco. Tuesday, talk with cannabis school. Thanks for joining us again. Yeah, hope you guys been having a really good week this week. We're going to talk about something that's really
important. If you are a medical user you're a consistent user or your even a new user. Yeah this is extremely important.
It's a difficult topic to talk about with what's a difficult topic to bring up with yourself because it ultimately comes down to yourself and that is taught Lawrence breaks, hollering spray takes, big Hardware, tolerance breaks, the Big T. So the basic of it and we're going to go deeper into the the reasons why you should basically it's stopping the use of cannabis for a certain period of time. What's the shortest time that you think for yourself Brandon
that you've done toddlers? Breaks for tolerance breaks can even on the simplest terms just be Sending the amount of cannabis that you do use or lessening the amount of times that you partake just depending on, if you're a medicinal user or a habitual user might be another term for, what do you mean by that? Like, I'm am I using it morning noon and night with that be a heavy user?
Yeah, if you're using it constantly, you're definitely a heavy user, some people medicinally that's just what you do for pain or whatever your ailment is that you're utilizing that for. So, somebody who has a Anxiety and is taking a little bit throughout the day. Would they still be considered a heavy user? No, no. I would not consider them a
heavy user. So what would be a heavy user and you're in your words what is a heavy user like let's just call it out Brandon. I am a you using your a heavy user. Okay? My bit I use my destiny. I wake up hurting I go to bed hurting. I heard all day long. I also use it for Stress anxiety, depressed moments. But I use it to be able to engage in an act and move function, like normal. So I have a different tolerance but that the the tolerance break.
Basically the shortest one I've done is 48 hours which for using medicinally as tough because that's 48 Hours of Pain, still use and maintain high doses of CBT like I do normally But without the THC and can you take us in an order? What's the pain that you're feeling? That is so constant that you use cannabis medicinally, I have a crack desk. Midway up my spine, from a motorcycle accident years ago. And it's been not bad enough to
operate according to doctors. But at the same time be bad enough that I'll just have chronic pain, okay. So it's That just is constant with me all the time regardless of what I do. So the cannabis use to you daily, partake of, does it directly affect the pain? Does it go straight to your head and it just kind of helps, you forget? That depends on this train. Hmm specific strains hit a lot deeper into the pain, some do more numbing of the head that I don't notice it as much just
depends. I always like to introduce High doses of CBD as well, because that does help. As well as my Pain talking about CBD. And I've read about several different individuals, that it varies an time duration of a tolerance break, some people do $40 some people do 72 hours. Some people do a full week, some people do Twenty Eight to thirty, eight thirty days. I've seen other people taking a full year off and coming back to it with the intention of coming back to it.
And that's pretty intense. I would only think that Would be those habitual users who are morning noon and night until Real Pain. Maybe a little bit of anxiety, things like that, but they're going so strong and they realize that it's not working the same way. So I want to talk about that for a little bit. Brandon the reason for a tolerance break is because you realize that you're addicted or is it? Because it doesn't work as well. That depends on the person.
Some people like you and I have talked about even the feeling of not feeling like you are dependent on anything, whether it's coffee or cannabis or anything, not feeling the need to feel like you are dependent. And I think some of that tolerance break even we talked about, is from the feeling of not wanting to feel like, hey, I'm dependent on this and I can do it without I can do it without it. I do when I take a tolerance. Break.
I just hurt more. So, taking the tolerance break starting at 48 Hours, they've noticed that the there's receptors in your brain and body that the THC stick to. And as you use cannabis more frequently, those start to decrease. So you don't feel as high. You don't get the same feelings anymore. Your body doesn't want to be high. You want to be high. Yeah. It makes it easier sometimes to make it through. Life, but your body doesn't want you to.
So taking that tolerance break starting at 48 hours, they notice that those receptors those things in your body and your brain, start to come back. So at 30 days, 28 days, that's a full reset. Typically, they'll notice those are all fully back so a year. Yeah, it's not necessary, but it might be good for someone's mental Clarity, whatever they want to do on their own personal side.
Anything past 28 30 days. You're going to be a full reset of your receptors and that euphoria that you'd feel in using. Now I'm gonna don't jump back into the same dose as you were before either because you will get so high so fast. I like how you just said the where it's taking time to be able to give you a reset and that reset is so important. When you think about other things that are consistently used.
We day. So we talked about actually I've been going through some real difficult time with caffeine. I did not realize I was consuming it as much as I was. Where I would have few cups of coffee in the morning or 30 cups of coffee in the morning. And then later on, I, you know, be at some type of networking event for business and I would have a Diet Coke or two and then what was that? Laughter? That one. I have myself a rockstar 240 milligrams. It was delicious. It was mango guava.
Mango. But it hit me so hard later on that evening and it made me feel so incredibly anxious. I started to think about that especially when we were talking about tolerance breaks is that when you consume something so that it has a specific purpose for it.
What you're aiming for that when you get to the point where you're taking so much that you get anxious, and I have seen that with cannabis associated, with other people using cannabis where, It could have been even the Indica strain, where they're taking it and it's a lower feeling in the body, more calming feeling, but it induces this anxiety. Like they had caffeine. Yeah, I used to have a buddy that for the first while when he was smoking there was times that
he would have panic attacks. Anxiety attacks super interesting. Because now he uses a lot more but he doesn't have that same reaction when you're taking caffeine. You're getting a desired effect. Wake up. Write it the chemical reactions and this isn't a caffeine podcast but the chemical reactions with caffeine and receptors in your brain to be able to not feel tired. It's not necessarily making you
feel more awake. It just dampens the feeling of being tired as with cannabis it, dampens the feeling of feeling anxious or depressed or pain. Yeah, Litany of different things. Yeah. So when that tolerance break is introduced its to be able to increase the sensitivity of the use of your Des and so Brandon had said something earlier that. I think we should go a little into is a tolerance break, doesn't necessarily mean, you
have to stop, you can lessen. But do you think that would cause a little bit of frustration for somebody who has pain? I mean, I know you've done tolerance breaks. I know you said you feel grumpy on tolerance breaks, but at the same time, do you still feel the same pain? I feel more pain during my tolerance breaks. Yeah. Just because I'm not Managing at the same as I'm used to.
So during that time, I increase CBD, try and stretch more, do things that will help with it because it is I know that going into it, I'm going to hurt more but that's another thing. If you are a common user is there are side effects sometimes of taking a tolerance break, we're going to fill irritable decreased appetite depressed mood restlessness Anxiety insomnia, some of the wildest dreams you will ever have come when you're taking a tolerance break.
But with that though the side effects are not usually disruptive they are not extreme they're just obnoxious you know they're manageable yeah definitely manageable it's not something that's going to put you into a tailspin of feeling really frustrated, very angry and a tolerance break. Again is for those who have been using for quite a Mi or using extremely large doses for a long period. When would you think? And again this it's different
for everybody random. But when do you think an individual should start considering to go on a tolerance break? Yeah, I actually read something last night on that, it's a good practice to do 48 hours every 30 days. Okay, so once every 30 days take two days off which you know, if you're using medicinally, that's It's tough sometimes but find other ways to try and manage whatever ailment to even lower the dosing you're using.
Because I know that if I take even a two-day tolerance break or I somehow manage my pain until the evening time that smaller dose will hit me. So I'm a charter. Even in just a partaking later in the day versus first thing. I think that's extremely important for people to keep in mind that tolerance breaks are necessary. For those of us that had been using it bitch Ali for years and
have never taken a break. And there are those of us that are at, that point, consider it consider thinking about look, I'm probably using way too much. I'm probably having to smoke a lot more, eat a lot more. Consume it any, which way, I Want more, I've seen that with people who use vape pens tend to go through the whole pain. Whether it's a half gram, which is 500 mg, or full pain, which is 1000 mg. Sounds like a lot, but I've seen people go through those in just
a few days. You calling me out here. I'm definitely calling. Yeah. But but that's the thing. It's it. Even though it's in high concentrate. Your tolerance is so high. Yeah, with different types because I've seen that with you and when you You use flour.
And then when you go into vaping, which is an oil extract and there's so many different ways that it's extracted from the plant that I feel that it's just doesn't hit you as hard, you know, Brandon and I frequent playing video games at least once a week online together. And if I have a pen, I'll be puffing on that the whole time. Yeah, I feel like pens, only hit a certain level high for you, pain management, whatever it. You're doing. There's nothing past that I've
ever gotten from a pain. Yeah, that's it. Definitely caps off like this is as high as you can get. Yeah. All right. It's like a top rung of the ladder. You can't go any further. You can keep trying, but it's not going to get past it, very strange. But it's at those points that we need to be thinking about. Yeah. Maybe I need to take a break to your wallet, I appreciate it. Yeah, definitely your wall.
It will appreciate it for sure, but I think about that, think about it. Where you're getting into it. This this episode is more people who have been using for a while, but it's also for those who are getting into cannabis to keep in their mind, be a responsible cannabis consumer, don't be that stereotypical Stoner. And if your Stoner listen to this, I'm calling you out, bro. Calling you out, girl calling you out whatever. Gender you are wild, unicorn
dancing on the hilltop. Sir, whatever I'm have. We don't, we don't discriminate against a but we love everybody. When you're talking about cannabis, we're all the same and you really need to keep that in mind. Make sure that you're being responsible, make sure you're being safe with this use. But also make sure you're getting the most out of it. Yeah. And for building a tolerance. If you're trying to do it for a medicinal purpose, it's great to take an edible, your tincture.
Whatever it is a little bit before bed. So the highwomen Highest parts that you would feel you're actually asleep for and then you won't actually feel that extreme first couple times of Gavin, your body introduced to it. That's a good recommendation right there. You don't want to go back from a tolerance straight into using because you are okay with wherever you were at.
Before you take the same thing over there, you will be macro made into the couch and watch your house low and slow people low. And Slow. Thanks for tuning in this Tuesday. Yeah, thanks so much guys. Will catch you next week.
