Hey, so we were having a really good discussion and we decided this needs to be an episode. Yeah, totally needs to be up.
So, what are we talking about today? Today, we're talking about carts because everyone in their dog uses. I'm nowadays, they are everywhere. There's really cool cards out there too. We're at a conference not too long ago. Those little pods that just kind of clip on for extra security. Yeah and there's reasons why they do that now we may be seeing the next iteration of carts out there. A lot of the cards that we use today, my go away because of these new types of cards.
Yeah, there's some new ones that are security-based that requires a subscription to actually activate and use the Pod. Yeah, as well as like, you, Do you use your whole phone in that in order to set it up? So yeah, uses like a little light. Yeah, to be able to activate it so you can put it in there, really cool stuff. It seems like an annoyance but it's actually there to be able to protect you. But with that, I mean, let's start at the first side. Yeah.
What the hell is in that thing? Yeah, so carts are full of all sorts of stuff. Mostly, they're filled with like a distillate. What's a distillate? Okay. So a distillate is a distilled concentrate of a cannabinoid, usually just pure THC oil. That's been distilled down all the way to just plain THC, oil, mmm. So you remove the terpenes, you remove the flavonoids, you remove any other cannabinoids,
and it's usually just THC oil. That's usually what a distillate is, and then they add back in chirping. Flavors in order to create the flavor up a stray. Hmm. So that's what distil it is. There's also CO2 live resin full spectrum cut or uncut oil and terpene Infused. Wow. So there are a ton of different oils that are in carts, different sizes of carts, a lot of armor either half gram or full G cards. Usually like a half gram lasts about two hundred Puffs and a full G about 400.
So they yeah with carts what got you I guess into carts first you did I guess that's a stupid question. No no no. I mean it was actually carts were away for me to get back into the Cannabis world you know where I live. Lived. I didn't necessarily want my neighbor's to know that I was consuming cannabis and I really just had no idea. And the idea of cards at least back in the day was very
discreet. It even had like a stylus on the end of it. It was like a little black one and it was a half gram and it was really nice because you're able to just just take a poll just take a puff on it and you didn't have to push any buttons which was great but at the same time it was once you Done with it, the battery and all you threw it away because it didn't have anything. So as its evolved, the carts have gotten cooler for me because it's able to take the experience.
You normally get with flour and put it in a very concentrated form. There are a lot of differences between flower and extracts that are inside of a vape form. But I, I enjoy it because of one. It's, it's versatility to it sees and three. If I want to try another strain, I got a load up another Bowl. I'm gonna go this whole thing, I unscrew and then I screw it back on and then I warm it up and it goes and it feel it instantly. So Vapes are like, top list for me, like, even though flour
first. If it's way better, I understand. But you know what? Artisan Pizza tastes way better than Papa John's. Sometimes Papa John's just hit the spot, that's what I need. It's true. No, no. Take the time to go and wait for an artisan pizza. So know it's sometimes, I mean, you know smoking you know straight flower, there's a process with it which is okay. I mean it's not saying it's bad enough chains forever, but sometimes I just want to puff and go, these are convenient.
Yeah. So that's why I mean percent. That's why I got into it. Of course, you know, there's things always in the back of my head. I'm like, I wonder. I wonder right? Like, you know, long-term safe use like hazard. I know that there's been issues such as the Black Market carts, that go out there and those are fake cartridges that you can get. There are some bad stuff there.
A lot of the reason why the fake cards that came out, where even an issue was some of it wasn't even cannabis oil in there. It was hydrogen cyanide vitamin E, things like that, as well as. Wow, I can think straight pesticides and that that were transferring over and being used in these cards, which means it's usually like an illegal extraction process, or, or grow process. That's not necessarily on the
up-and-up. And they don't know how to be able to properly clean those because they don't have the equipment. Yeah. Or it's just someone cutting product. Trying to make a quick Buck from either a different country or from just some cheap person so Those were something to look out for one of the things we talked about before getting on.
Here is the couple different ways to tell if you have a fake cart one of those is the bubble test, which if your oil is super thin shouldn't be no. So if you tip your card upside down and you see your bubble moving Tres tracking across your cart, that's probably a fake cart. If it goes pretty quick because it's thin, I would, I would compare Are to like olive oil just very thin not thick at all.
The way that I would look at cannabis oil is it's an and I don't want this to be taken wrong, but it's like a really thick motor oil. Like the way it moves the viscosity of, it is quite a bit thicker. If you put it onto your finger, it would be sticky. Yeah. But honey. Yeah, like very much like, honey and it, but when you're in, a lot of the older carts, you could unscrew the top. Yeah, you know pull it out now and they're all sealed a lot.
Are there are some that are not, they still unscrew but a lot. Now are fully sealed that has back in the day. We would just you know you get a little refill sin syringe. Yeah. And you just were down in there. Yeah. But now you don't you don't see that as much. Now a lot of them are, I don't know if they're just fully contained systems to prevent tampering or what. But I I'd say I'm pretty happy that they've I'm seeing more companies switch to that.
Yeah. Just the only thing that kind of sucks from it. Is that your your sock drawer may be full of empty carts. I just throw mine in the garbage. Yeah. But sometimes I just like, I switch it out and I forget and then I go and then I'll eat reach into my sock drawer. I'm like holy shit. There's a lot of fellows away. Yeah. See my girlfriend collects carts to because she let go On a new cart and I'll give her a new cart and she pops really slowly. Hmm.
And so that cart will last probably a good two years if she just were two Puffs on that cart by itself but then every couple months she wants a new cart so she has a collection of ones and you know she'll get a carton it's like when is this cart from? And she's like I don't know and I'm like I'm pretty sure we got this over a year ago. Why what? How How is this even around? So you know I understand people keep their cards and they just chill a little longer. So yeah.
No. I mean I in and talking about the deaths that happened from the bad cards it was a lot to do with the vitamin E and that was put in there and it was to be able to create that thick peel to individuals who are looking to be able to use that cannabis. Okay. If you stick with good, Wind you won't run into any of that. There is a same issue with regular vaping though that same vitamin E or whatever can be found in specific flavors that
they use. And so if you vape it past a certain temperature, it can basically in balm over time the insides of your body, which arrive is the same thing, but that's once again just proper temperature and you know, but it's one of those things that regulations aren't fully. A out there. We don't have stuff in place everywhere and you noticed a lot of that dispensaries started changing and pulling carts off after that takes care, because they didn't know it was in there.
They didn't know the quality, they didn't know it products. And so there was a big shift and now dispensary quality products have drastically increased. I would say as far as carts go over the last couple of years for sure. And one of the coolest carts that I think I have actually experienced is one that I purchased from a Madman dispensary out in California and it was a specific dose pain. So it was all like a one type, not one time use, but all enclosed battery, everything all in one.
So once it was done, once you are done using it battery's dead you. Chuck the whole piece but you would pull and it would actually vibrate when it was done, so it would let you know what else is one dose. One dose is equivalent to 15 mg and so you would buy each specific pain, or whatever, for whatever thing they had it for. You know, this one's for pain. This one's for sleep, this one's for well, that's cool. Active. Yeah, so they had each different thing and you knew You just pull
until it vibrates. That's one dose. So is really, really cool. Just to see how they've broken that one down. Yeah, it is pretty cool. I mean even in to speak I mean I'm going to play Devil's Advocate on this side for not necessarily pro-poor even though that I use Vape probably predominantly but we still don't understand or know what the long-term effects are going to
be on that. We could see just Kind of like within the the 50s and 60s with cigarettes in there, trying to tell everybody that they were bad but they weren't good for you at all. It was years later when we saw. So, I mean, even though that Vapes are relatively safe, we still don't know the long-term side effect on that one. So it's true. It's just a introducing. Any other chemical or flavonoid or that into your cart or just increases the chance of. Yeah. Any risk. So the Our quality.
If you were to get like a live resin one, you're less likely to get any of the other additives that come. Right. And those are our higher quality they're going to cost a little bit more but they're well worth it. Not only on the flavor but in the experience you have well our it's super way, way different. I got a tan G1 and Northern California loved it. It was by far one of my favorite next.
To a few other ones. But it mean it's such a it was it was really good in that sense of you can actually taste the difference and you feel the difference. It's very clean. Yeah. It's like the closest thing to flower that I have ever experienced in a, like a concentrate. So yeah, it's super cool. Carts are really convenient like we were talking about earlier with distillates distal. It's a lot of the time with the clear ones. They put in terpene flavors but not cannabis.
Derived terpene flavors, right? Just regular tipping flavors which come from plants fruits, all these things that are found in everyday life normally but when you use a just a regular flavor chirping that's found in all of these other. It actually is harsher and doesn't hit the same or have the same effect or if they use cannabis to ripe terpenes, So when you do get a cart, you can also look in the packaging.
A lot of the time look at that and see if it's just natural flavor terpenes or if it's cannabis derived terpenes right and that will make a big difference in the experience that you have to. So always something to look for better quality. Keep that in mind, look for cannabis derive terpenes, if you do go with a distillate, So now, and lastly, I would like to bring up that. If you're new to carts, make sure that they're vertical.
When you lay them down, or if they're in your pocket, they go upside down. It will have a tendency to that that oil is going to get into your. I would say the port, the the place where you're going to be able to take a poll from and it will clog it and you're going to have to heat it up for a while and then be able to pull it. You'll have this like Like you're trying to drink a McDonald's milkshake like it's so thick and then finally you get it. You're like okay just pulse
through all of a sudden. Yeah can I hit the mic on that one? But yeah I just just keep that in mind that you know there are the downsides of of The Vape. It's that one. You only get so much in there too depending on the strain and everything you have in there with the terpene profiles. Some we're going to make you cough a lot more. In other ones is necessarily
mean it's something bad. It's It's a lot of has to do with the terpenes but yeah, as you're being able to use it just just keep vertical, get a really good battery that and that's the thing that you'll use to be able to heat up your cart but invest into a decent one. I would say anywhere from like 40 to 60 dollars is a good price point to having a long lasting one. You will be tempted to buy like a cheap twenty dollar one, but you'll be charging that all the
time. Yeah, I mean, I've gone through, we've gone through tons of different matters, And I would say the best I think, at Square One still is one of my favorites to this day and that was about $30. I think the one that I got at the the convention, we went to, that's a new one and that I gave my wife. That one is pretty sweet. I literally just tap for a second and I am pulling off of it. Perfect clouds, huh rate? And that mean it's at a lower volume. It that 3.2 To a point three on
the temperature and it's great. That one, I'll have to get that name of it and I'll send it to you so you can put in the show notes just to kind of check it out because it was a really, really good experience for one of those carts of magnetized bottom, just like the square ones. We used to. Yeah. And I like the square ones but I tend to find that the square one eye because it's so thin and small. It goes, upside down all the time in my pocket.
It what I also dropped There and broke two or three carts in the same day. I was outside. Yeah, that was the worst that's frustrating it landed on the cart and it broke one and it was like, halfway through the curtains, like, yeah, whatever. I have enough like, damn it, Jim it. Yeah. Get another cart brand-new. Take it out, probably 10-15 minutes later, same thing. Yeah. Shatters the curtains, are you shitting me?
That one was a brand new one, so that I was a little frustrated but yeah, that's the cat was my own. They are brittle there, you know, like all of them but make sure that you are just using good help. But by far, that's the easiest one. If you're getting into the Cannabis world, we always say
flour, first, totally great. But I think this is by far the easiest way to be able to experience cannabis quickly, and you'll actually appreciate flower that much more when you try it. Yeah, so they have that twisty thread on 510 thread carts, they also have dark Hearts, which are like the little clip in kinds that clip into, like battery are that. And then, they have just pack spots for, like the pack Sarah, which are just already
concentrates. You just buy it specifically for that popped into but only for the packs. So, yeah, carts are great, way to get into it is super easy, super convenient, discreet. And, you know, if you're not wanting to have a lot of, a lot of things that you need or a lot of things that you Have to carry around or clean. This is one of the simplest easiest ways to use. So yeah. Yeah.
