Lovers In An Uncertain Time: Matthew and Mariya

Imagine falling in love just as major world events are happening.

This week's love story belongs to Mariya and Matt.

They met in 2018 when Matt, a Canadian playwright, travelled to Ukraine for a workshop. There, he met Mariya, an accomplished and passionate actor. They went from creative collaborators, to friends, to lovers, and eventually husband and wife. Oh, and new parents on top of it all. 

A lot of love stories have twists, turns and challenges but their love story has included a global pandemic and a tragic war. Not only did their relationship endure, it flourished. And now they're sharing it with audiences across Canada in a powerful new play called "First Métis Man Of Odesa".
