Examining Yourself... Is your life squeaky clean? Do you know anyone who lives a squeaky clean/perfect life? The correct answer is: "No. Nobody's life is perfect." That's why it is essential that we examine ourselves, or you could say, that we look in the mirror every once in a while. In today's teaching, Pastor Ben reminds us that when we examine ourselves, we can see if we are faltering in our walk with Jesus. We also do this to make sure that we are "in the moment." Remember to test yourself....

Gifts...they come from God. When we have a certain "skill", "talent", etc... and people compliment us, we should always remember to give all credit to God. He is the one that gives us these gifts. Today, Pastor Ben reminds us how powerful God's Word is, how it can severely impact, and change your life. Without God's Word, we are lost, vain, and worse of all, in darkness. God's Word (Jesus) is the light that our hearts need. Let Jesus be your light, to help guide you through life in this world.

In today's teaching, we learn from Pastor Ben that in order to grow in our faith to God we should pray for "Hunger for God's Word". Every day, we are under attack by the enemy, so we need to intentionally guard our hearts. Today, we learn that we don't use carnal weapons for spiritual war. Our weapons are: to put on the full armor of God, Bible reading, praying, fasting (not just from food, but from other crutches such as internet, social media, Facebook, etc.) When Heaven becomes real in our li...

Have you ever had someone try to quote a verse in the Bible and all of a sudden turn it into something different than what was intended? A verse can easily be taken out of context, turned into a pretext and be made into whatever the narrator/orator wants it to become. Here at Calvary Chapel Lubbock, we recommend that, when you look up a verse, you read the twenty verses that precede it, and the twenty that succeed it. This allows you to get the actual context of what was meant in the verse.
