Hisham Kassem

Hisham Kassem is the founding president and publisher of the formerly privately-owned Al Masry Al Youm newspaper, and was the founder of Cairo Times newspaper, published out of Cyprus. He is a human rights defender and democracy activist, and was the head of the Egyptian Human Rights Organization in Cairo for approximately 10 years. Kassem was also the vice president of Al Ghad Party and is the recipient of the prestigious National Endowment for Democracy award for championing press freedom.
