Episode description

Home Secretary Priti Patel has announced that "unrestricted" stop and search will become a permanent feature of the policing landscape - albeit when they fear their "may" be a threat of serious violence, and then only for 24 or 48 hours, depending on the circumstances. Given that people from minority ethnic backgrounds are already disproportionately targeted by Stop and Search, what impact will this this have on community relations? Host Adrian Goldberg hears from Michael Bankole, an expert in race and representation at Kings College London. Funded by subscriptions to Byline Times. (Originally broadcast on Byline Radio via Twitter Spaces on 17/5/22) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
