Episode description

England is facing the prospect of an official drought – millions of people have had hosepipe bans – but 2.4 billion litres of water are wasted in England every day thanks to leaky pipes.   Figures obtained by the Lib Dems show that in the last two years executives at water and sewage companies paid themselves more than £27m in bonuses, benefits and other incentives – and overall gave themselves £48million in pay. In Scotland and Wales though, water is run on a non profit basis.    Adrian Goldberg hears from Martin Lines an arable farmer in Cambridgeshire and UK Chair of the Nature Friendly Farming Network and Cat Hobbs from the pressure group We Own It. Produced by Adrian Goldberg and Harvey White. Originally broadcast @bylineradio via Twitter Spaces Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices.
