S1.E37 - FMC's D&D Rulemaking - summarizing the previously filed comments
Episode description
Topic of the Week (10/21/22):
The Federal Maritime Commission released their detention and demurrage Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM)! It's on their new intake platform of regulations.gov and it's a continuation of the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) from last spring where they received 80+ comments.
Let's talk about the FMC's summarization of the 80+ comments filed.

TOP 3 STORIES OF THE WEEK -
1 - Today is the day - the last day to file a comment in the unreasonable refusal to deal or negotiate w/r/t vessel space accommodations rulemaking. Did you submit your comments?
2 - Shipping Watch asked this week: is MSC getting too big for 2M alliance with Maersk? But it looks like the original story was actually on JOC.com with analysis from Lars Jensen (thank you to Eric Johnson for pointing that out). Here's both:

3- FMC Commissioner Carl Bentzel announced at the AAPA annual conference that he is interested in turning his Maritime Transportation Data Initiative into a rulemaking. I think we knew that, right? That was part of his intention - or certainly his implementing tool of the information he's gathering. I'm watching this to see where it goes next.
