Hey, podcasters! I'm Megan, and this is Buzzsprout Weekly. I've always believed that if something makes your day better, even just a little bit, it's worth supporting. Whether it's a new artist, a local coffee shop or a podcast, it feels good to say, hey, keep going. And now for podcasters, there's an easier way for your audience to support your show. Let's get to it. Our first story is Pocket Cast opens the door for listener support.
Pocket Cast now supports the podcast funding tag, giving listeners an easy way to support your show directly in the app. This update is part of a broader push to make podcasting more open and creator-friendly. especially for indie shows that rely on listener support. You don't need a big audience to benefit. Even one supporter can make a difference. If you're using Buttsprout, it's easy to set this up.
Just head to the monetization page in your Buzzsprout account and select the support the show tab. There you can add your preferred link, whether that's a Buzzsprout support page, Patreon, buy me a coffee or anything else. Then listeners can support your show directly from Pocket Cast. This week on Buzzcast, the team is breaking down how the funding tag works and what it means for podcasters. Listen wherever you get your podcasts and text us what you think.
Our second story is on how to maximize your Buzzsprout account. Starting a podcast can feel overwhelming. RSS feeds, directories, cover art, and then getting used to hearing your own voice is a challenge in itself. That's exactly why we built Buzzsprout, to make launching your podcast approachable and stress-free. In this video, you'll learn how to set up your Buzzsprout account, upload your first episode, and get listed on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. All in under five minutes.
Whether you're new to podcasting or just looking for a smoother workflow, this walkthrough will help you get started confidently. Check out the link in our show notes to watch. Up next, we have some ways to learn and grow. Our first insight is for when your podcast is doing just fine without the ring light. There's a lot of buzz about video in podcasting right now. YouTube clips, TikToks, and headlines all pushing the idea that every podcast needs a video version.
But for most podcasters, that's just not true. On the Buzzsprout blog, we're breaking down why audio-only podcasts are still thriving and why you don't need a video to succeed. Check the link in our show notes to read. Our second insight is for when you need a new call to action. Deezer just updated its algorithm to give listeners more control over what they're recommended.
Now listeners can like or downvote episodes to shape their feed, making engagement more important than ever. If you're on Deezer, try asking listeners to like your episode as a simple call to action that can help boost your podcast in the algorithm. All right, that's all for this week. Until next week, keep podcasting.
