The belated movie sequel is a terrifying proposition. It starts with a movie you love and ends decades later with broken promises and a disgusting taste in your mouth. Don't believe me? Go watch Caddyshack 2, Dumb and Dumberer, Saturday Night Fever, Return To The Blue Lagoon, Son Of The Mask, Basic Instinct 2, Blues Brothers 2000, Return To Oz, or The Godfather Part III.

But none of those movies had the potential to break our hearts more than Top Gun: Maverick. So after years of rumors, development, and delays, the day of judgement has arrived.
