And welcome back to Building Billions. I am coming at you. It is 808 on a Tuesday morning and I want to talk about fricking getting the job done, because what separates people from having confidence, having the ability to move something forward like really excelling is their ability to get the freaking job done. And I work with hundreds of different team members. I work with executives, I work with leaders,
I work with partners. And the one common denominator of people who are successful in our environment, the people I see who are successful that I watch. I spent some time over the weekend with Grant in Atlanta, Cardone, and it's just like their ability to start and complete work to move something forward and get the freaking job done. And so this morning I my alarm went off 530.
I was like, should I work out today or should I handle some of these things that have just been like on my plate for a while, Just like I had a few things that just they been on my plate. I haven't been able to clearly identify how to move them off my plate, but now, like I'm kind of the bottleneck because they're not moving. And just like, you know what? I'm just going to pound these projects out, I'm going to finish the work. And I just find that I talk to business owners all the time who
say that they want to grow their business. They say that they're serious about it. They say that they love their customer or their patient. But when it comes to the nitty gritty, nasty, disgusting, awful worst type of work, which is likely freaking finishing the presentation or finishing a list or like getting some product completed, they won't do it.
They prioritize the patient. They prioritize the one person in front of them for the system that could scale for the clarity that the team needs to be able to move forward. And then I'll oftentimes, you know, they'll ask me, well, why don't why don't people want to work with me? You know, why Why? It's frustrating that, you know, no one wants to continue going on down projects with me
and that I'm not including these things. And, you know, they're never really asking for advice when they have these questions, but they're simply not able to get the job done. And everybody knows when the person enters the room that can get the job done, the room changes. Let me tell you, when an executive walks in who actually has the ability to make a decision and move something forward, the entire dynamic changes. I watched Grant walk into a room.
It's like, Oh, the whole room. Like you can feel the energy that changes. So my question for you is, what are you doing to get the fricking job done? What are you doing? What time needs to be carved out. What do you need to say no to? I'm a freak about saying no to meeting, saying no to calendar invites, to conversations, to questions, to things that people ask of me because I know the jobs that I have to get done. So maybe that's actually the first place to start.
What do you need to get done? What's the thing that's holding you back right now? You've probably been putting it off. Maybe you have 15 emails in your inbox about it and you've just prioritized other things. You feel delinquent and it feels shitty. It totally feels shitty. I've been just delinquent on a handful of things recently and like, Oh, it just is the worst. So first step, identify what
those things are. Now that doesn't for those of you who have this tendency, that doesn't mean that you organize everything. This is not the time to spend seven hours organizing every project and every task and following up with every email. No, it's what is the thing that moves the business forward?
What is going to generate revenue? Right now, if you don't have clarity on your numbers, how are you going to get the clarity on your numbers to be able to generate revenue if you don't know what your product team, what updates your product team is making on? Well, maybe that's a bad example. If you know that, what's the problem in your business? Is the fulfillment. And is the
product team. How are you actually providing clarity to understand what two things, what two conversations need to happen in the next 12 hours to move those conversations with those vendors forward so that you have clarity to be able to move the freaking ball forward. So the first team again, first step. You got to get clarity. What is the job? What is the one thing that you are responsible right
now to just get done? Not everything. The thing that creates the score for people, the thing that that elevates everybody because revenue has been created, because more opportunities have been created. Okay? Once you have that thing, make time. You are in control of your time. You are entirely in control of what you say yes to. What you say no to. You might think that other people are
in control of your time. Oh, but I've been asked to do all of these things and my family wants me to do this and my kids want me to do this. The reality is you're in control of your time. And if you're listening to this podcast and you recognize that you could be further, but you're not spending your time on the things that get you further because you're spending time in other places, take control of your time.
Stop letting other people dictate how you spend your time, where you spend your time, what you say no to, what you say yes to. It's your job. Think of yourself like the quarterback of a team. You make all the decisions, you make the plays, you're the person that people look to. I think this is how football works. You're the person that people look to. To to know like, are we going to win the freaking game? You have
to walk in to your organization with that confidence. You have to be the leader that shows up to that shows up as that. And there's a huge difference between Tom Brady as the quarterback of the team versus Joe Schmo. Are you Joe Schmo or are you Tom Brady? Are you the person that can get the job done in the fourth quarter? Towards the end zone at the ten yard line. I know my football. Are you that are you Tom Brady? Are you freaking Joe Schmo? Will you
know that by your ability to move something forward? So I'm repeating myself first step. What is the job? Second step. Let's get everything out of the way that prevents you from doing that job and view yourself as the person to get it done. Get the freaking job done. My dad used to tell that to me as I was growing up. Get the job done. That's what we do around here. We get the job done, we finish it, we complete the task. We don't let us be the
reason that we're holding people back. We're not going to create excuses. We don't need to tell everybody or glorify ourselves when we get the job done, because what we know at the end of the day is it's our responsibility to get the job done. So for you in your organization on this particular day, what the fuck are you doing to get the job done?
