Welcome back to 10x. People skills. Host Natalie workman. We're back at our house today because we have a.
Critical project going on that is required. I think there's 10 people coming in and out here so I'm going to try to not disrupt anyone but there's some video footage going on and I will we'll be talking about the project at some other time. What I do want to talk about is time. It was actually quite serendipitous this morning on our all team meeting for those of you who don't know we have an all team meeting every single day at 95. Well we we skip the weekends.
That is that is one of the perks of setting when you're medians are for you have to do things on weekends.
But we've an all team meeting and one of the pieces from a structure standpoint one of the pieces that's a critical piece of our all team meeting is where our team member reads from one of Grant cartoons books.
And the idea there is somebody randomly gets chosen to do card on you right before right before we go through the book.
So random wheel will pick somebody they wrote play and share what they watched with carto knew. And then that person gets chosen to be the person who really have a hard time explaining this this morning.
I don't know it's gone. I think it's probably because I just had a doughnut and I don't only eat doughnuts at 9:00 in the morning anyway you open this book and you randomly flip through the pages and today's Page was talking all about time and this morning and I released a podcast on work woman.
For those of you who don't know I have a podcast it's called Walk woman and it's all about how to stop wasting time and why you should pay for services or help in order to increase your productivity.
And I give you guys my tips and tricks in the way that I've stopped feeling guilty about using time because here's the thing if I can get one extra hour a day of things that I absolutely need to focus on from a strategic standpoint that is more valuable than me doing laundry driving to work going grocery shopping like all of those small things that absolutely add up.
The reason that I chase and what no doughnuts I know I'm like still jittery from the doughnut. My stomach hurts I'm not going to do that again but for time from a time standpoint Brandon and I so value our time because we know that the mental energy that we have and the fixed amount of time that we have it is critical for us to use strategically for the things that actually impact our clients and our team members.
And so when we're planning out a day for anything that we can cut down wasted time on we we do those things. Jason my toenails. I mean you guys want to see my feet. Is this weird. Is this where I type people skills you never know what's gonna happen authentic people skills.
There they are. Black toenails Jason was at our event over this weekend and he also had black toenails and so we bonded over it really be in the best color for what you should be painting your toenails. But anyway when it comes to time you have to start thinking about the things that you are putting in your life or you are strategically removing something that you quote unquote have to do or you think you have to do and using it for something that you need to
do in order to push yourself forward. For many of you that looks like process documentation you put off creating an onboarding plan for your team members because you're just so busy with patients or with clients or with all of the fires that you have to put out in an individual day. However if you are not taking the time to do those things you're not taking your your
goals seriously. And what this looks like is actually spending money to commit to you having that free time so you pay somebody to clean your house so that you don't have to clean your house. You don't have to spend the time thinking oh do I have to do laundry. Do I have to make my bed which probably make
your bed anyway because that's just a habit thing. But there are all these things that come around with cleaning your house organizing your house driving yourself to work getting food those administrative things that you actually don't have to do. It's not it's not a unique thing to anybody on this call to for you to be the person that actually picks up your groceries. We live in 20 20 which means that there are tools and technologies that you can use in order to increase your efficiency and to
spend money like that is my challenge. You have to spend money in order to commit to getting that time
back and using it efficiently. And I go so deep into this on work woman because I really believe that this is the differentiator between people who say that they have goals and for people who commit to the goal and do whatever it takes in order to rearrange things in their life to make that thing happen because it's not going to happen if you don't rearrange things you're not going to have less fires in your business.
You're not going to have less times to grocery stop or to cook to grocery shop or to cook dinner unless you rearrange. And part of rearranging is making a massive commitment. So I don't know exactly what that looks like for you.
For Brandon and I that look like buying a plane and that is a massive massive time investment that is not a luxury investment that is not a we are trying to be cool investment that is in order to achieve our goals we have to be in many places and be able to pop around in our time is valuable enough to place a premium on it to get somewhere more efficiently and for years he and I just rationalized why we shouldn't do it why it didn't make sense how it doesn't pencil out on paper. You never
ask your accountant about that type of thing. But guys. It has been a game changer. It will continue to be a game changer. And Brad and I have stopped making that talk track and that worry legitimate. We've just said OK we're making this commitment. We are going to use it wisely. We don't just party and go on trips with it we use it for business purposes so that we can further the mission vision and the core values that we have that we are rapidly chasing after
every single day. And so I don't know what that looks like for you. I have not taken a peek into your calendar. However if I did I am certain that I would find things there that you are not the person that you are that you are not the person that has to do those things. And for those things my challenge to you in order for you to increase your ability and your capacity to be good with your team and to lead them effectively is for you to identify who else could do them. And who you
could pay and how that arrangement works out. And my challenge is if you do that for just one month you pay an extra 500 dollars to have somebody. Clean your house and deliver food. Try it for a month and be intentional about the time don't watch television try it for a month and see what happens. I can promise you that it will be a game changer.
