Girthy McOrangestein is a participant in the Public Radio Talent Quest who is originally from Montana now living in Los Angeles. He describes himself as a "red necked urban cowboy." In 2006, at the age of 21, Girthy first came to Black Rock City when the theme of the Burning Man festival was "Hope and Fear of the Future." In this interview, Girthy tells how he went "Gonzo" for his virgin burn and shares his experiences and enthusiasm for the playa. In the second half our show, we talk about the Public Radio Talent Quest, the Public Radio Exchange and the local Los Angeles public radio affiliate stations.
